Good Morning [Member name removed], I was quite surprised to see your review of our company since it has been over 18 months since our last contact? I am even more surprised by the rating you have posted since we have not had any indication positive or negative regarding the various options on the projects, nor did we do any actual remodeling. The last correspondence we had from you all, back in Feb of 2013 indicated that you were undecided about the different possibilities for your home and that you would be back in touch. So, we waited to hear from you, but we did not want to pester you while you all worked out the different priorities for your home projects. I regret that we did not have an opportunity to further discuss your objectives before you posted what I would consider an unfair review given the circumstances. If you would like to explain what we did to create such an unfavorable review, I would greatly appreciate the feed back. You can call us at 919-967-1171, or email me at Bill@Cederbergkitchens.com. Puzzled, Bill Cederberg

overall the project rates an A+. but most importantly it was the great and highly competent PEOPLE!! bill cederberg is great--very laid-back and soft-spoken, not pushy. very friendly and seems sincere in trying to 100% satisfy the customer. he is also an excellent 'ideas person' and came up with 3 possible designs for us to select from for the kitchen remodel. the project manager and the person on-site to manage things was joe redding. wow, what a great guy--someone you'd want to have as your neighbor or as part of your family for sure. joe was the day-to-day 'go-to' guy. he was genuinely concerned about making sure everything was just as we wanted it. he said many times that if we were not 100% happy he would not be happy. and that's the way joe and bill and the others operated. the master carpenter who had a very big role was 'WG', known as just 'G'. wow--what a talented and experienced craftsman he is! perfection is critical to him and he worked on our house as if it was his house. the project started in mid-feb and a had an approx time estimate of 2- 3 months. they were done on may 12. work went on nearly everyday, and only stopped on a couple of occasions when there was a delay waiting for certain materials to come that took longer than expected. were there any 'glitches' or things that went wrong?--yes, a few minor things, but always either joe or bill was there to handle and correct them right away. they were highly responsive to any concern or inquiry from us. if there were things i'd say that could have been done a bit better they would be: (1) better communication as to when certain things were going to happen to give us more of a chance to protect and cover our personal things / furniture/ clothing, etc, from the great amount of dust that this kind of job generates, (2) a more comprehensive look at the electrical issues before the project began to better assess all the things that had to be done (this was one area where costs ran higher than estimated due to 'surprises' found as the project progressed). if a more comprehensive assessment of the electrical needs had been done before the project ever started there would not have been any expensive 'surprises' for us once the project was underway, (3) better and more specific information on exactly when we had to make certain choices for things such as countertops, tile, sink, paint colors, etc. specific deadlines for each would have helped. but most of these issues were relatively minor and overcome pretty easily. i note them only as constructive suggestions to bill and his team for future projects. overall the finished new kitchen is beautiful and highly functional. we've already had many very positive comments on it and it turned out even better than we could have ever imagined. bill says they offer a 1-year warranty on anything that might go wrong with the work they did, so if anything should happen, i feel we can go back to him for a remedy without any further cost or hassle to us. a job is only as good as the people who do it, and in this case bill cedeberg and his team are gems! Not only are they highly skilled and professional, but they are just plain nice folks to deal with. remodeling is their specialty and primary work and it really shows! this is not a 'slick' , high-powered, 'get-your-business-at any-cost' company. they take pride in what they do, and if our project is any indication, they do it very well. when we decide to start our next home remodel project (bathroom), we will go straight to bill cerderberg with complete confidence and anticipation of another meticulous job! Great work and our sincere thanks Bill, Joe, WG, Mario, Greg, Christina, and company!!
Description of Work: this was a complete kitchen 'rip-out' all the way down to the studs and a total rebuild. also the same for an adjacent dining area and also a total 'refresh' of the adjacent living room / foyer / hallway area. also, a complete new addition was built onto the kitchen area in what was previously part of a covered carport. this addition also now serves as the main entrance area to the back / side of house as well as an access point to the patio. our house was built in the mid-1950s and this work took it from being very dated from that period, to a new, modern look and feel. the kitchen is totally re-designed from the original layout to make it highly functional. the addition of the adjacent entryway / annex increased the kitchen storage space greatly, provided a highly usable new entryway to the house, and added extra countertop and cabinet space that makes this addition flow as a part of the new and larger kitchen. the services provided included the complete design and planning of the new kitchen by bill cederberg, total project management, all the work done by several regular cederberg employees and several excellent sub-contractors. everything from the initial kitchen rip-out to the final clean-up and trash removal was included and done very well. there was nothing left for us (owners) to do but to move our stuff back in and arrange things to our taste.

We had a very satisfying experience with this project. Bill & his team were very professional & easy to work with. Pricing was upfront & fair. I exceeded my original budget, but was aware of the reasons - i.e. upgrades in materials, which were my choices. His design assistant, Christina, went with me to numerous places to help select tile & marble - she was so helpful! The project manager, Joe Redding, was always a phone call away & did a great job of being both professional & accommodating. He handled the subcontractors that came through, all of whom were top-notch & very responsible. Bill had creative solutions to a few problem areas that arose (how to avoid a seam showing in the marble bath surround & access to the tub motor, for instance) & when I had a real problem with a particular piece of marble, it was calmly dealt with & quickly solved to my satisfaction. We could not be more pleased with the end results. For any future projects, we will definitely call Bill!
Description of Work: Our master bathroom had a complete overhaul. The old floor tiles, shower tiles, bathtub, vanities & sinks were removed. It was all replaced with marble slab for the countertops & bath surround, marble tile on the floor & in the shower, new vanities, sinks & mirrors, a new bathtub with air jets, both a 'rain' showerhead & a hand-held showerhead in the shower, radiant heating in the floor, & a new ceiling vent.

I did not use them because I had earlier got a quote from another contractor, which was a lot less. The only problem with them was that I had to pay an amount of money to do a full quote. I thought it was strange. They would apply the cost to the final cost. So, I didn?t call them back at all. Other than that, everything was good. They were punctual and informative. They came back for an original assessment, but to get the plans drawn up and to get the final quote, I would have had to pay $200. I will not use them again in the future.

I am sorry that we did not have the opportunity to work with you on your project. I regret that you felt the stated design/estimate fee was in-appropriate. The purpose of the design/ estimate fee is to help pay for the time spent sorting through the various options possible, and the defining of materials and finishes. We think this is an important step in the remodeling process, that helps to better define the scope and the budget for the project. It also minimizes unforeseen costs that may arise from vague specifications, or misunderstandings about what the client thought they were buying and what the contractor thought he was providing. It is typical that in a "bid" situation, that there is a specific scope, materials specifications (or allowances for fixtures) and drawings so that all of the bidders are pricing the same work. Since this was not the situation on this particular occasion, I felt it necessary to try to better define the project, instead of giving an estimate that would not necessarily be reflective of the work others were pricing. I hope this will help to explain someone would charge for the design/estimate process. I hope your remodeling went well. Thank you. Bill Cederberg

Bill Cederberg gave me an estimate and itemized the details of the work. Bill had some design ideas that solved some problems that needed to be dealt with. No promises were made that weren't kept with the exception of losing sight of a deadline that I was told would be easily met. That point that was easily overlooked when I saw the quality of the work. Everything was well orchestrated by Joe Redding, who had the right people, in the right place, at the right time. It was very evident that these people worked together all of the time and with great workmanship. Joe made sure that things were done right and all contractors did a great job. Any problems that needed attention were dealt with in a timely manner. Our expectations were admittedly high and yet were exceeded.
Description of Work: Remodeling of bathroom. Demolition and removal of whirlpool tub and damaged substructure- replaced with shower only. Transferring the faucet to the other side of the shower, enlarged bathroom door opening, tiled shower from 6 1/2 feet down as well as bathroom /shower floor. New cabinets were installed, toilet, fixtures, electrical, and granite countertops were put in. Basically the whole room was remodeled without enlarging it.

Our kitchen was beginning to show its age. We asked Bill to give us some ideas and an approx price. Bill came back to us with some great ideas within 2 weeks and we started from there. Bill took our thoughts and redrew the plans - we never felt that Bill was trying to impose his own ideas but he was always willing to point out when our ideas "just might not work or look right". We really appreciated the open 2-way exchange. We finally settled on the layout, cabinets, tiles, work-surfaces, appliances, lighting, hardware etc and work began. We had a dedicated project manager and the work could not have gone more smoothly with friendly reminders when we needed to make final decisions. In all the work took about 6 weeks (just as Bill had said it would) and handover was completed on schedule. Bill was always there to recommend the best places to find what we needed (e.g. tiles, appliances, work-surfaces, lighting etc) and what made it even easier was that everyone we went to seemed to know Bill. This was a big job and the kitchen was taken back to wall studs and parts of the floor were removed. The overall quality of the work was excellent, the quoted price was met (apart from a few agreed changes on our part) and the carpentry really exceptional. Nothing seemed like it would be too much trouble and the entire team were always on time, with a smile on their faces and for a job of this type, they were remarkably tidy, leaving the site in as clean and tidy a state as possible every evening. It has now been about 6 weeks since the job was finished we have not needed to call Bill back to fix anything. We are very happy with the end result. Thanks Bill and team for a great job.

I called Cederberg Kitchens & Additions for an estimate to replace 7 aging sliding doors. Got an overview of available products. Based on pricing and product quality, we selected 4 wood-trimmed sliding doors for upstairs and 3 metal-trimmed doors for downstairs (1/2 basement level). Cederberg K&A ordered the doors, kept me informed about expected arrival time and arrived on time/schedule to install. Installation was done over 3 days, with minimal disruption to my family. Wood-trimmed doors were stained differently to match each room upstairs. At each stage of the process, we were kept informed and offered choices and a chance to confirm previous choices. Cederberg K&A staff not only do a great job, they were all pleasant for my kids & dog to be around. My dog gets very excited/agitated with any on our property, but the guys even put her at ease. This is the 4th major project we have used Cederberg Kitchen & Additions over the past 8 years, and I could not recommend them more highly. Previous projects include: a large deck along the back of my house, remodeling our kitchen and a complete overhaul of the master bathroom. Fair pricing, excellent service & great communication in a family-friendly environment. Great resource for home improvements in the Chapel Hill & Durham area.

Great planning and coordination of the various crews and craftsmen, most of them full-time, long-time employees. The demolition process went quickly with a very careful and thorough prep of the floors and closing off the rest of the house beforehand. About a week's worth of patching and repairing the hidden underside of the kitchen. Plumber in, electrician in, master carpenter in, then all of them back again and again. Every day someone was there working, usually 8:30 to 4, with an hour out for lunch. Very little down time. The cabinets were installed, then the adjusting - lots of details, quarter of an inch here and there - took some time. They are all very proud of their work and it shows. I was very impressed that his staff was with him for so long (5 to 25 years), meaning good boss, good employees = good work. They were all very attentive to my little squawks - some minor details - and worked them out without hassle. My kitchen is great, better than what I'd imagined. On schedule, on budget. They know what they're doing. And I'm talking to Bill now about a bathroom renovation.
Description of Work: Full kitchen remodel, including demolition, repairs to 1950's plumbing and electrical, new cabinets and countertops, installation of appliances, new lighting, etc. I had attended Bill Cederberg's seminar earlier, upon recommendation from a friend, and was not really planning to spend money for a planner but rather go to a home improvement store. I was very impressed with Bill's talk and his approach and realized I would probably get a better job for less hassle with him, and at a price I could afford. I'm very glad I did. It's all in the details! Bill (and Christina) came up with a rough plan and estimate accompanied by computer-generated design of my kitchen - before and after; this cost $500 and was later applied to the cost. This is a critical part of the renovation project. We reviewed my plans, made some changes, and got the budget where I felt comfortable. And it was a go. He said they'd start in early March and have it done by Easter (about 5 weeks). Amazing. It happened.

Bill worked well with us to design a highly-functional kitchen that we love cooking in! Work included iterating through a number of design sessions to get the right floor plan, then material selection. Bill was able to help us minimize some aspects of the floor plan to keep under our budget. He is very insightful and has extensive experience which we definitely benefited from. Bill's team, which has been with him for many many years, including project manager, carpenter, and assistants are all prompt, respectful, and do fabulous work. They were a complete pleasure to work with. We are SO PLEASED with the outcome and are actually in the middle of a bathroom redo with him now!
Description of Work: Bill worked with us to design our new kitchen. Work included eliminating extra closets, removing a 15' wall and replacing it with a steel beam to open the room, reconfiguring entire kitchen, adding islands, new cabinetry and flooring.
