I would hire Five Star Painting again in a heartbeat! I had my downstairs painted last year by a different company, so I have a pretty good idea of a good painting company when I see one. Five Star was unbelievably fast, but also very skilled! Also, we removed shelves from our bonus room right before Five Star was supposed to arrive. Little did we know the previous owners had glued them to the wall; therefore, we ruined a large section of dry wall. Five Star did a miraculous job fixing it (for a very reasonable price!) and painting a lot of the upstairs and a few areas downstairs all in 1.5 days! The company that painted our downstairs last year charged more, painted a similar number of rooms, and they took 6 days. Five Star's work is just as good, if not better, than the company that charged more and took way longer. They are great!

I got an obnoxious quote on the painting considering that I patched all the walls and provided the paint and the primer. The quote was $305. They were very professional. He came out, and he was very nice. The thing that mainly upset me was I asked him an eyeball quote on how much it would be. He said that it would be from $180 to maybe $200. Then when I get the email with $305; I was like where is this price coming from. It was about third above what they estimated me at. The guy was very professional. He came out with a leather measuring tape. It was very quick. It was a total of maybe five minutes. When I scheduled the appointment, they told me that their estimates are anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. It was not even close to what they told me. Then the fact that he gave me a quote and then I read my email and it's way more expensive than what he estimated me originally. It made me think that he did not want to do the job. With regard to professionalism, he gave me a wrong price.

I was preparing my house to sell it and needed the kitchen, living room, and foyer painted. All three areas have very high vaulted ceilings. Robin at Five Star was recommended to me by my realtor. They did a great job on the wall prep, painting, and clean up. I was replacing a darker color with a lighter off white paint, and the two coats they applied covered the old darker paint perfectly. Robin was very responsive and listened to make sure they understood exactly what I wanted done. The work was performed in a timely manner and there was very little mess and clean up afterwards. I have Pergo floors and had the base boards painted also and there was almost no paint on the floors when they were done, and what little was there came up easily. I also thought the price charged was very reasonable for the amount of and quality of work they performed.

Robin was great to work with. We received three quotes and I was impressed with his follow up and thoroughness when we walked through the details of the job. Our home had not been painted in ten years and it showed. Overall, we were very pleased with the instant improved, fresh look the paint gave our home. There were some details that were initially overlooked and required a follow up "work day" by the painters. But what impressed me was Robin's commitment to sticking with the job until it was completed and done to our satisfaction. Pablo was great!

We needed a quick turn around on our request for painting in order to coordinate with cabinet refinishing and counter tops. Robin Green responded immediately, came to our home to quote the job and had a crew here within a matter of days. The painting crew was prompt, professional and kept a positive attitude when we realized we had overlooked a couple of things and they agreed to stay late to finish the job. I was absolutely amazed that they finished in one day! The best part, they were so thorough and careful to clean up after the job, I didn't have to do anything but enjoy their work.

Provided detailed quote and proof of insurance upfront. Showed up early on the day we agreed upon and left no mess. Painters were professional and made sure I was happy with the finished windows before they left. Even though it was a small project, Five Star Painting did a very good job. I will use them for future projects.

Five Star did a great job. The owner Robin Green was a pleasure to work with. He gave us a detailed estimate beforehand. He visited at the beginning of the job, the middle, and end to make sure work was going smoothly and that we were satisfied. The crew were very hard workers, professional and did a great job. We are very pleased with their work. We were told it would take about 3 days and they were true to their word.

We are extremely pleased with the services provided by Five Star Painting of Durham & Wake Forest. From the very first contact, this is a company that is a pleasure to work with on a project. Robin is personable and responsive. We needed our project completed in a short timeframe, and Robin made sure that both the quote and the work were timely scheduled. The crew arrived on time and could not have been more pleasant. They are really a pleasure to have around and their work is top notch. They are also extremely patient. We had difficulty choosing a paint color and they made every effort to make sure we were pleased with the selection. We had a small hole in the drywall and the crew repaired it prior to painting. They also cleaned and prepped the walls for painting before applying two coats to the walls, ceiling and trim. They left everything clean, neat and perfectly painted. Robin stopped by the project to check the work and make sure we were pleased. We believe the price was more than fair (as compared to other quotes we received) and I appreciated that they did not try to take advantage of the fact we needed the work completed quickly (as other contractors who provided us quotes seemed to do). There were also no upcharges after the fact. We paid the quoted price and that was it. It was just a great experience from beginning to end. We have several other painting projects in our future (including the exterior of the house) and we will without hesitation contact Robin and his crew at Five Star Painting of Durham & Wake Forest.

Taylor was very responsive when I contacted him for an estimate. We changed our minds on some parts of the project and he was very accommodating in coming back a few weeks later to redo the estimate. They were able to schedule fairly quickly and arrived on the day as planned. The painters were very polite , careful in their work and in protecting all of our furniture and rugs. When Taylor went out of town, his father, Robin, took over and was just as thorough and responsive. He made sure that all the painters were clear on what had to be done and reviewed everything with me. Everything went very smoothly and I would highly recommend this company. Taylor and Robin were great to work with!

Robin and his son Taylor were responsive and professional from the moment we contacted them. Their team of eight men arrived punctually on the day they were scheduled, and amazingly painted the entire house in one and half days! The quality of their work was great, the team was professional and obviously very qualified. Their price was very reasonable for the work that was done.

Five Star was "tops" from start to finish! . . . Five-star! After receiving my call, Taylor, one of the owners, arrived promptly at my home and gave me an estimate somewhat lower than two other bids I had received. He was professional, easy to deal with, and appeared to be service-oriented. He said he would get a quote to me by the end of the day, and he did. After some further checking, I accepted his offer. The crew arrived a few days later, just as scheduled. Taylor was there to introduce me to Pablo, his foreman, and to the painting crew. Taylor told me the entire paint job would probably be completed in two days. It was hard to believe, but that's actually what they did. They covered everything up that was not to be painted: floors, furniture, moldings, trim. They used plenty of masking tape, plastic sheeting, and tarps. They used great care in protecting our possessions and cheerfully moved, or helped to move, many things as needed. They painted with care and kept work areas clean, neat, and orderly. And they thoroughly cleaned and picked up at the end of each day! They painted with two FULL coats, fully, just as they had specified, unlike some painters we had recently used in another location. And they missed nothing. Pablo, though not there for every minute of the job, checked on things regularly and constantly. He did a masterful job of personally cutting in edges and doing the detail work. He and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. No loud music, no foul language, no inappropriate or inconsiderate behavior of any type. Just good hard-working, clean, polite, and professional guys. I did ask Five Star to do a couple of small "extras" for me, and they cheerfully complied. For this work I took care of the guys separately, with permission. One of those "extras" required a return visit. At that time I had the opportunity to meet Robin, Taylor's dad, another of the principals. He was just as nice and accommodating as Taylor! This is one great company, run by some truly wonderful people, who with their skilled staff, share a positive, can-do, and very professional attitude. I am planning to have the exterior of my home painted soon. Five Star Painting will certainly be at the very top of my list for a call-back!

We had a great experience with Five Star. I continue to get compliments from people on how nicely the work was done--from friends, family, even my contractor. First, I found Taylor Green very easy-going and likeable. I felt comfortable with him right away when he did our estimate and worked with us getting things set up, and his estimate was competitive compared to others I'd received. Then the team did a fantastic job. I'm amazed by how precise their work was and how quickly they worked. You might not think precision and speed would go hand-in-hand, but we got both. There was one small mix-up: Two small spaces had the colors reversed, but when I pointed this out, the team repainted the two spaces quickly and without a word of argument. I also changed my mind about one small thing--the border between the living room and dining room--and the team was so easy-going about repainting the border, even though it was my own decision I was reversing. They painted about 2800 square feet in three days using a number of colors throughout the house. (We hadn't moved in yet, so they had easy access to the whole house, which I know helped keep things speedy.) In summary, I couldn't be more pleased with our experience, and I'd definitely recommend Five Star.

Everything looked great. All the work was done in one day, the crew was very efficient, cleaned up everything afterwards, and did a walk through with us to make sure we were happy. The owner called a few days later to make sure we were still happy with the work after we'd lived with it a few days. A very pleasant overall experience.

Response to Mr. Green's response: I never demanded that Mr. Green come out on a particular day. We all have to accommodate service providers and we always have to schedule these things. Mr. Green may have confused me with another customer. I never demanded that he come out that day or any particular day. I did not get into a conversation with him about writing a review on Angie's List. I just let him know that it was weird that he had no time to paint my house when he had previously said he was only scheduled for about a week or so. He never stated that I needed to settle with one before he would start. Apparently, the fact that he was neighbors with the previous painter may have influenced his decision not to paint my house. My original review: Mr. Green wrote me that due "to other jobs being awarded to us this week, which increasing our current work load we will be unable to provide you a quote because we would not be able to complete the work if awarded until later summer." There were several misspellings in the email which I have corrected. During his estimate visit, he said he would be able to do the painting in a week or two. But apparently, he changed his mind after viewing the difficulty of painting my house. Obviously, he is unable or unwilling to do a small job or fix other people's painting work. He told me that he was next door neighbor with the owner of Certa Pro. Certa Pro was the company who had done a lot of bad work on my house and it needed to be redone. He was critical of the previous paint job but was complimentary of an area where I had actually painted. I would not recommend him because he is either a liar or he is busy for 4-5 months due to other jobs.

We had a great experience with 5 star painting. We were in a hurry to move in to our new home and just had couple of days to get the painting project done. Robin was fantastic to work with. He always made himself available to take my questions and concerns as if I am the only client :) and gave a quick estimate to get the project started. We paid more that what we originally quoted for mainly because of some changes on our end and not much related to the provider. We ended up having to paint couple of walls more coats than originally anticipated but Robin was able make necessary adjustments in other areas so we are not way over our original estimate or our budget. If you have a paint project big or small you should totally check with Robin. Entire house of 3,000 sqft was painted in 2 days including most of the base boards. The crew was great, very polite and hard working. So don't forget to tip the guys. I will absolutely use them again the future.

We hired Five Star mostly on price, having had no recommendations from other customers. We have a newly purchased home, and wanted most of the interior painted, including walls, trim and ceilings. This team arrived promptly, worked quickly and neatly, and finished on schedule. The quality of the work was excellent. Our only mishap was a broken bathroom mirror, and Five Star was very agreeable about replacing it with one of like value. We were pleased with all aspects of this work, and recommend this contractor to anyone in need of interior painters.

I selected three top painters from Angie's list and contacted them all for quotes. Five Star Painting / Robin Green surveyed my house and gave me a quote, then followed up every three days by email or phone to answer any questions. Five Star's quote was almost the same as my other favorite bidder and I chose Five Star because of the professionalism of Robin Green with his assurance that he would be available throughout the painting process. The painting crew was scheduled and they showed up on time every day. They were very neat, cleaned up well after themselves, and took a great deal of pride in their workmanship. They used tarps extensively, moved outside furniture, put plastic over windows, and did a great job insuring that paint only went where it was suppose to go. Most of the painters were English-speaking and the crew leader was very English literate. There were no communication issues. Robin Green also showed up regularly over the multi-day period to insure my satisfaction. We used excellent quality Sherwin Williams paint that was well priced due to the volume discounts the painter receives. We ran into a color issue on the siding that was my fault - I picked a color that ended up too "creamy" and not white enough. I explained the issue to Robin. He assured me there was no problem. He showed up the next day and helped me pick a better white color. His crew then repainted the affected areas and at a VERY reasonable additional cost. I was more than pleased. The final walk through was very detailed and what few touch-ups we found were found by Robin and the Crew Chief (Pablo) and not by me. I very highly recommend Five Star Painting - Durham (Robin Green) for their professionalism; attention to detail; flexibility to changes; and a very competitive price. I told my neighbors that I have a painter for them when they need one.

I got a big surprise on my final walk through of a home that i recently purchased. Moving from PA to Raleigh, I had already made the trip down for closing and was kind of stuck in a bind. I couldnt back out and with a 4 month old baby and I would never find the time to paint this myself and unpack all my belongings. I called Robin and expalined my situation. He was able to fit me in that week prior to unpacking anything - making it easier on his crew and easier on me. They were fast - clean - reasonable - and did a real good job.

The crew came on the day and time they were scheduled. The job took several days and the crew cleaned up very well at the end of each day. They had a high attention to detail, making sure to be neat and professional. When a couple of small flaws were pointed out, they quickly fixed the issues to our satisfaction.

Robin came out and gave us the original estimate and I was so impressed with his knowledge that we added several other areas to the quote. They came out within the timeframe I requested and finished in one day, they worked to nearly 8pm to get the job done! They cleaned up so well that the freshly painted walls are the only thing that they left behind! We painted to sell and are very pleased with the work, we just wish we had done it before now so we could enjoy it more!

If there was a review higher than Excellent, I would choose it for Five Star Painting. Robin Green was extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Answered all of our questions and was courteous even through all the Multiple bids we asked for due to our add-ons. The same can be said of the crew. Knowledgeable, respectful of the other areas of the house and did a profession level paint job. I can say the entire crew all went above and beyond my expectations. I will be calling again for my next paint project.

Five Star was responsive with estimate as well as planning once we chose them. The crew was efficient and polite. Workmanship was very good. It was a pleasure working with Five Star.

Five Star Painting Durham/Wake Forest did a fantastic job in our home! Each painter was polite, punctual, friendly, skilled, and professional in every way possible. They went above and beyond our expectations with attention to detail. Considerable time was taken to meticulously prepare and protect our home and they cleaned up well at the end of each day...as well as clearing out and vacuuming after the work was completed. They even brought their own water hose to use outside when cleaning up. The painters moved furniture for us and took great care with this...and returned everything to it's original place, once the work was completed. There were five painters who worked here for 2 1/2 days, we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly and professionally everything was done in that short period of time. Robin Green, the estimator, was here each day to see how things were progressing and ran a few errands to get more paint or supplies as needed. We have always done our own painting, so this was an entirely new experience for us...a good one! Robin Green discussed with us the possibility of scraping all the "popcorn" ceilings and removing a very large, very high, wall of wallpaper before painting. After much deliberation, we opted to paint the wallpaper and paint the popcorn ceilings...excellent choice for us! This saved us many $$$, plus eliminated the unpleasant mess of scraping, and it looks absolutely fantastic. The workers repaired a couple of ceiling "bumps" and the ceiling looks just like new. Robin Green was quick to respond to our inquiry for an estimate, the entire project was successful and we're more than happy with the results. My husband and I highly recommend this company...because of the staff and high quality of work they provide.
