Five Star Painters management is pleasant to work with until the end when their attitudes and demeanor changes. Five Star Painters came out to give us a quote for house painting and some boards to be replaced. While the manager was there I walked the house with him. I let him know that all the boards on the front right side needed to be replaced due to warping which the manager agreed, along with some more spots on the side, back, and chimney. We were emailed a quote which we assumed had all the work that was discussed during the walk through process but we were wrong. Come day one they told us that the quote didn’t cover enough boards to replace the front of the house. The owner came out and told them that they needed to be replaced and that there would be an additional fee for material and labor. We agreed but didn’t want it to be thousands of dollars over the original quote. Come the last day of the job which was a Friday they left without painting our front and back doors, which were in our original quote. Also when walking the house we noticed a board on the side of the house that looked like it wasn’t cut properly and forced into place causing it to crack, they left it and painted over it. On Saturday I text the manager asking if the job was complete and for the final bill. He replied that he would email it over. Again I asked if the job was completed. He responded that he was with his family and would get back to me on Monday. On Monday I received a text message asking how he could get his money from me and I told him once the job was completed. He claimed that the job was complete. When I said it wasn’t he then passed me on to his supervisor who text me asking for the money. Again I replied once you guys finish the job and that I would appreciate a phone call to discuss everything. He responded that he was on a call for 3 hours and couldn’t talk and to tell him what wasn’t done because the project manager did a final walkthrough and the job was complete. I text him with the items that were missing and wrong and he told me he would have the painters come out Tuesday morning. The painters arrived and told us that they told the manager that the doors were not done but that they would be happy to do them now and fix the side board. At this point the manager came out and never apologized for the missed work. He told us that he never came back by to do the final walkthrough after the job was done on Friday. But yet he demanded payment from us knowing that the painters told him they didn’t paint our doors. What should have been a pleasant experience turned into an unpleasant experience all due to poor management.

Five Star did beautiful work and were extremely quick and responsive on scheduling and easy to work with. Price was the lowest we received and included replacing rotted deck boards.

We used Five Star Painting for the first time this summer and worked with AJ Motsinger and his team. We could not have been more pleased with the entire experience. Extreme professionalism from the communication, the planning, and the job itself. There were a few items outstanding and they were quick to make them right. We will 100% work with Five Star again!

Five Star Painting should actually be called Six Star Painting. This company was punctual, professional, pleasant, and they do great work. Highly recommend. I will use them again when I pick more crazy colors!

Five Star’s painting crew painted our master bedroom walls a beautiful shade of Sherwin-Williams paint called “Wistful Blue.” The ceiling was painted white with all trim semi-gloss white. The paint crew did an excellent job protecting our furniture from paint drips or spatters. We have a chandelier that was untouched by any paint drops. Thank you, Five Star Painting for a job well done.

Moving during the pandemic and not knowing anyone, I asked and received several quotes for interior painting and wall repair. AJ came over and quoted the job, a great price for the amount of work and repair, and we chose Five Star Painting of Durham and Chapel Hill. They were able to begin with my timeline, arrived on time, and finished the job within two days. We are very happy with the results.

We hired Five Star to remove the popcorn ceiling and paint the ceiling and walls in our entryway. Jeremy came out and gave us an estimate which was reasonable and they were able to schedule us the weekend before Thanksgiving which was exactly what we needed. Danny and his crew did a great job on the ceilings. Would've liked to have a little more attention to detail on the walls, but they came back and did some touch-ups and everything looks really good. Only minor complaint is that the scheduler seemed to think they would be done in one day, but it ended up taking two full days (not counting the touch-ups). Not a huge deal but did throw off some plans. Overall a good experience and would recommend Five Star.

5-Star Painting is my go-to team for painting. In fact, they have completely painted the interior of my home and in some cases have painted rooms a 2nd time. This job was to repaint my office and my son's bedroom as well as patch a hole in a ceiling where honeybees decided to nest. I couldn't ask for a better team that what Robin and Taylor have put together. They have added Jeremy to do quotes and the process is very quick and efficient. The crews they send in are professional, courteous and extremely good at their job. They were in and out in just a few hours. These days, you get what you pay for. With 5-Star Painting, you get more than expected. When painting, it's always better to go with upgrading the paint. Why would anyone get such a great painter and waste the effort on cheap paint? Just do it right the first time and go with 5-Star, you won't be disappointed.

We highly recommend Five Star Painting! Aaron was our sales rep, and he was great—he arrived on time to give the complimentary quote, was very personable, and answered all of our questions. My husband and I were shopping around, but while waiting for all the quotes to come in we had already decided that even if Five Star was a little higher, we’d go with them just based on Aaron’s professionalism. We were shocked, and delighted, when it turned out that Five Star had the lowest price! We then spoke with Taylor, the owner, to get on the schedule, and they got us in within days. On painting day Martin and his crew arrived on time, did amazing work, and cleaned up very thoroughly before leaving. Aaron had estimated the job would take two days, but Martin and crew were able to complete it on one day! We definitely will use Five Star Painting for our future projects!

I have used Five Star Painting for all of my painting needs since I moved to NC in September 2000. They are responsive, on-time, courteous, and professional. They always clean up thoroughly when they're done. The most recent job was repainting my living room, dining room, stairwell, hallways, and master bedroom. I decided to paint a dark brown accent wall in the master bedroom and the same dark brown under the chair rails in the living/dining room and hallway. It turned out great! Earlier this year they repainted my bathrooms and sunroom, including the ceiling.

Excellent workmanship for a competitive price. Crew (of employees, 5 Star doesn't hire day laborers) was punctual, efficient and did a great job. Will be using them for our next project.

The name is accurate as I definitely give 5 Stars to Five Star Painting. They painted the exterior of my very large house and they were extremely professional throughout the entire process. Very experienced crew. I would definitely recommend and in fact will be using them again for another job.

Pricing was competitive and the estimate they provided me laid out everything that was included. A team showed up around 9am and pressure washed, repaired deck boards, and restained my deck all on the same day. They even brought a swatch sheet of the different deck colors I could choose from and advised on the longest lasting stain.

I recently had the exterior of my home painted by Five Star painting and couldn’t be more pleased. They quoted me an excellent price and were a pleasure to work with. They completed the job quickly and left everything clean and neat afterwards. They even made some small repairs to trim that was needed for no additional charge.
