"OVER BUDGET $10,283 (37%). Get a QUOTE, not an ESTIMATE. His estimate means nothing. The original estimate was $27,297. Halfway through the project, he was already at 70% of the budget. I began pushing back on his reckless spending/billing at this point. He then "generously" (sarcasm) began to discount the labor bill to reduce the cost. The final cost was $37,580. That's 37% over his estimate, or $10,283. Had I not pushed back, the total would have been $51,614.27, or 89% over budget. There was no change in the work, no surprises, no scope creep, no deadline. He does not do any of the work himself. He's just a project manager. In terms of budgeting, he either has no idea what he's doing (dummy), or he knows exactly what he's doing (bait and switch). Either way, I WOULD NOT USE THIS MAN AGAIN. The whole purpose was to remodel a house for sale. He cost me more than I will recoup from the sale. I've spent $37.5K just to LOSE MONEY."
