Description of Work: My roof is only 3 years old. WE found a leak and called the Roof Doctor - they accessed the situation, made some recommended changes, did not solve the leak, called them back and it looks like the leak is fixed now. No problem getting them to come back out.

Description of Work: We purchased a home in Pawleys Island in June of 2011. It is our winter home now and plan to make it our main residence in the future. After a severe storm in early summer of 2012, we had some interior water damage from the roof area and around the dormers on the third floor. It is very difficult to locate good, honest and reliable contractors from long distance (our primary residence is in Ohio at this time). We had lots of people in the area give us names of contractors they knew. But, in interviewing these suggestions, we found that none of them had references and any proof of workmanship. So....having Angies List in the area of our home in Ohio, I joined Angies Lists for the area in South Carolina. After selecting two roofers to contact, we had the best response from Roof Doctor and proceeded to hire them to completely replace our roof and secure it against further problems. They were very helpful. Made several appointments to examine the problems, evaluated what the best solution would be and gave us a complete estimate on the job from start to finish. We were very confident with Roof Doctor and are extremely happy with the job they have done. The estimate was exactly what we paid. The communication and response time was great and we highly recommend Roof Doctor to anyone needing a Roof Contractor in the coastal area of South Carolina.  + -1 moreI had to play phone tag for a day or two, but I am glad that I did not give up and go elsewhere. Once they came out for the estimate, they came to do the repairs sooner than I had anticipated (lots of people with hurricane damage around here). They did exactly what they said they would do, charged exactly what they told me they would. And they left no trace of having been there except for the actual repairs done!
Description of Work: Drip edge installed, areas sealed and new shingles put down where necessary.

Purchases materials from company that delivers to the roof. Roofing crew, all work and no play. Workmanship is superior, conduct above reproach and cleaned up 100%. Labor guaranteed for several years. Mr Lach is a personable, forthright individual who knows his business, tells it like it is, does what he says he is going to do , is prompt and delivers a quality product for the money. His was the lowest bid received of eight submitted. A personal comment to Angie's list: Why do you ask for amount of money spent? This is a competitive business and you are asking to reveal to his competitors what his bid was?
Description of Work: Removed old roofing completely using own dump truck. Repaired areas of previous leaks. Installed complete new roof with ridge ventilation and metal drip edging.

 + -1 moreJay was wonderful to work with. He came out the very next day after I called for an estimate. He was very friendly and professional. After inspecting the roof, he gave me the estimate, and explained in detail exactly what he would do in replacing the roof. He was very flexible as I worked through the claims process with my homeowner's insurance. His crew showed up on time both days, and worked dilligently the entire time. They used protective ground coverings, and cleaned up everything when they left, including the flower beds. They even cleaned out my skylight, which required going through the attic. Jay came out for a follow up visit the day after they finished, and he even took the time to remove a small rubber band that he noticed left on the roof! My new roof is beautiful. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, and will use him again should the need arise.
Description of Work: I had damage from a hail storm, and needed to have the entire roof replaced. I hired Jay's company, Roof Doctor of the Carolinas, to remove the old roof and replace it. They replaced my old roof with 3700 square feet of architectural shingles. They also installed a drip edge to prevent water seepage, which I did not have before.

 + -1 moreI can't say enough good things about this company. The entire interaction with them could not have been any more professional. They arrived when they said they would, constantly communicated what was going on, and did exactly what they said they would. They take great care to protect your property from damage. They even went so far as to put a board under the engine on their truck so it didn't drip fluids on the driveway. Every one of the workers on the job was pleasant, courteous, and obviously took pride in their work. The quality of the roofing job is impressive. These are some workers that have great skills. When they finished up they left the house and yard in better condition than they found it. The owner climbed up on the roof and personally inspected the work. I'll recommend this company without reservation. Use them, you wont be disappointed..
Description of Work: They removed the old shingles, nails, and debris. New 30lb felt paper was installed with drip edge around the perimeter. 43 sq. of GAF Timberline shingles and caps were installed. All peaks were opened for ridge vent installation and new flashings were installed as needed. All trash and debris was removed from the job.

 + -1 moreI received bids from several contractors. All were in the neighborhood of $800 for the repair with varying strategies to complete. Since the roof was a couple years from end of life I also asked for an estimate to re shingle the entire roof. Roof Doctor gave an estimate for the complete job and recommended that I hold off on it. The repair work would not be lost as long as care was taken when stripping the roof later. They laid out the strategy for the repair and estimated it a $800-$1000. When asked to put in writing what would cause the price to go up they had no problem doing it. They showed up on time to do the work. After stripping the area they notified me that the price was going to change. They dropped the price to $200 because the repair could be completed wit a lot less work. This just proved that I made the right choice and I will definitely go to them first when doing the entire roof.

Added a 'cricket' at chimney to divert rain from roof/chimney intersection. Cleaned the area each day. When finished, nothing left behind. I observed often and was impressed with the effort.  + -1 moreAlthough we did not have any leaks in our roof being 20 something years old, we thought that we would have a new roof installed before any trouble started. New to the area we do not know local contractors/service people and the type of work that they do. Roof Doctor was recommended by our jack of all trades handyman. He was completely right about Roof Doctor being the best around. Although we had to wait about a month before Roof Doctor could get to our roof. Jay was up front with that. He showed up on promised date with a roofing crew. The job took 2 days to remove old roof and replace it with new. They even went around with a magnet to pick up and nails on the ground. They worked from morning til night. No mess was left and no leaks in the new roof. All went well and it was a pleasure to have the Roof Doctor do this job.
