I thought that the work was pricey, they charged $80 per pound of coolant. He was timely and they came out just as they said they would. Unfortunately he gave me some bad news, which I don’t blame him for. They suggested that I upgrade my system since they won’t be making the same coolant anymore in the future. When I had them come out initially about a year ago they told me I only had a small leak, but when they came out later this summer to do the work for this Big Deal they let me know that it was a larger leak and that they would need to come out again in the spring. I wish they had recognized the leak the first time and I probably will get a second opinion before I replace the whole system because of the price of the work.

I have used Custom Air for several years. They call to schedule an inspection before each air conditioning and heating season. The representatives have always been competent and courteous. They explain their inspection as they progress and they have been able to make any needed repairs without delay. I am very satisfied with the heating and air work done by Custom Air.

ok, it was rather quick. The guytook our garden hose and sprayed the outside coils from the outside of the unit. I think he should have removed the outer covers and sprayed from the inside towards the outside . By spraying from the outside toward the inside (as the technician did) you are forcing the dirt back into the unit.

Arrived on time. Performed service as requested. No hidden fees or surprise issues with our units.

Custom Air was extremely professional from the initial phone call to set up the service time until the final problem was solved. The technician was very helpful. He discussed the potential issues we could run into since we have an older A/C unit but never pressured us into spending unnecessary money. When our A/C went out approximately two weeks after the inspection, the company was quick to respond and fixed the problem promptly and efficiently.

I was very dissatisfied. They were the second company I called to come look at it. He came and barely looked at my machine. He started in saying I needed to have my whole system replaced. He ran my credit. He was going to charge me $6,100.00 to do it. There was no stating that my compressor was the problem, which is what I ended up having fixed. He just tried to sell me a whole new system.

I was very happy with the company and I was happy the way it worked when I saw everything was possible. I used coupons on the website; they were cautious and very nice. They were punctual and cautious. They accepted the coupon without a problem and did a good work. Its good experience overall.

Technician from Custom Air arrived on time and we provided an explanation of the issue that required his attention. In less than 5 minutes the technician was back at our front door reporting that our AC coil was leaking in many places and was not worth replacing. His recommendation was complete system replacement (coil and outside unit) at a cost of around $4,500. Technician made several comments on the low quality unit that was installed when the home was built 6 years ago and how the unit and coil to be supplied by Custom Air would be much better and had a 10 year warranty. Technician mentioned that a 20% deposit was needed to place the order. Technician also noted that if we provided a deposit today Custom Air would waive the service call and leak check charges plus he would add some refrigerant to the unit so that the house would be cool until the new unit was installed. He noted that we could decide to cancel the unit prior to installation and we would receive the deposit back but would be obligated to pay for the service call, leak check, and any refrigerant that he added. We decided to have Custom Air install the new equipment and provided the deposit. In the next two hours our family discussed the service call, diagnosis, and recommmendation, concluding that a second opinion certainly couldn't hurt for such a large purchase. We were a put off by the pressure tactics employed by Custom Air's technician and started to wonder if the diagnosis was correct and if the price was fair. I called the Custom Air office and informed them of the decision to seek a second opinion and that I would advise them of our conclusion. Another Angie's List vendor (let's call him Vendor B since I probably cannot give the name) was contacted and a visit arranged for the following day. I met Vendor B at the house and explained the situation. After inspection Vendor B felt that Custom Air's diagnosis was not correct -- the AC coil was fine and there were some minor leaks in the line very close to the coil location that could be readily repaired. Vendor B did not recommend replacing the unit or coil and could not explain why another vendor would have recommended a complete replacement. Vendor B noted that the coil was fine and the outside unit still had plenty of life. I engaged Vendor B to perform the repair and it was completed for around $200 (service call, leak check, repair, and some refrigerant). I then called Custom Air to inform them that we would not proceed with the installation. At that time I was told that I was obligated to pay Custom Air around $400 for the work they performed at my home (service call, leak check, and adding about 3 pounds of refrigerant) which was based on what the technician wrote in the file. I reminded them that the original quote was around $90 for the service call/leak check and that they told me they usually charge about $35 per pound of refrigerant. Office staff agreed with me and said that the amount owed should be around $200 and also provided an Angie's List discount when prompted. Overall I give Custom Air a grade of "D". The only reason it is not an "F" is because their office staff was very helpful when I needed an appointment, when I called to put the order on hold, and when I cancelled and protested the charges outlined by the technician. The Custom Air technician certainly receives an "F" for a flawed diagnosis and his sales pressure tactics.

They are not honoring the coupon they posted on the website.

Awesome! I woke up at 4am and my house was over 80 degrees. Air conditioning unit would not kick on. At 7 am I logged in to Angie's list and emailed 3 vendors. Custom Air called me back at 7:30am and had a technician at my house who had the part at 9:30! Fixed.

They have a ten-year parts and labor warranty on the unit, which I thought was unusual. I was pleased with their service. I will continue using them.

Richard arrived at the scheduled time, he went to work immediately, he took the furnace apart and checked all the parts and connections. He reassembled the furnace and gave me a report on the condition of the furnace.

Technician arrived a little ahead of schedule. He was clean-cut, courteous, professional and explained each part of the tune-up service. When finished he told me the result of the inspection. He wrote the invoice which listed in detail the inspection(s) performed and accepted without question the $39.95 coupon for first service. I will call them for the next furnace tune-up.

Stan was a consummate professional and took time to tear out the blower and clean excessive build-up of dust/dirt. He explained previous home owner failed to use required air filters. I am very pleased of how conscientious he was and he did not charge extra. He showed me the blower and it was excessively dirty and disgusting. Now I will be interested to see how my unit works this season. Thanks for a job well done!!

Overall, they were a great company to do business with. Our A/C went out and they were out that same day. They were professional, helpful and fixed only what needed to be fixed. The tech offered to clean the part that was giving us problems rather than replacing it. He told us it could work fine like that for another year or give out in a couple weeks. But he gave us the option rather than just saying it needed to b replaced. (We chose to replace it.) I highly recommend this company and look forward to using them for our yearly "tune-up."

Excellent work, Timely, knowledgeable, friendly. Just moved in and wanted an initial A/C service tune-up. Technician explained everything and gave details of performance checks. Great price with Angie's list coupon.

Technician was prompt, knowledgable and friendly. He thoroughly inspected our system, repaired it the best he could (it is an old system) and made recommendations regarding replacing the unit. I would vey happy with this experience.

Technicians took care of everything - It was as painless as such a big change can be. Technicians were very courteous, very considerate of the house and worked very hard to get the new unit in and working as quickly as possible.

We ended up using someone else. We found out that another company had a contract for doing the rest of our work already, so we figured we'd just go with them. They were professional. There quote was a little higher than the company we used, but they were okay.

The tech came out and told me that both systems had coil leaks, and the systems were so old (30 years) that they would probably have to be replaced. I asked him to provide me an estimate, and he called a sales rep to come out immediately. I was satisfied with their promptness and diagnosing of my systems. The sales rep came out, looked at my systems, and then gave me a quote for 2 systems, one a 13 SEER and one a 15 SEER, which came to about $14,000.00. I have a home warranty, so I asked them to provide this information to the warranty company (gave them the phone number and reference numbers) and they said they'd take care of it. That was on Monday. On Wednesday, I called the warranty company to find out the status of my claim, and they had not yet been contacted by the tech! I called Custom Air, and they got the tech to contact the warranty company that day. The sales rep did not send them the quote to replace the systems until Thursday. On Thursday, I learned that they did not break down the estimate into line items (like cost of the units, labor, tax, permits, etc) which the warranty company needs to determine covered vs non-covered costs. The sales rep never got back to them with this break down, and I was frustrated with their reluctance to communicate with my warranty company, so I moved on to another contractor. When we were having a heat wave, and I have 2 young children in the house, getting my A/C back on was being delayed because they couldn't make a phone call. I paid them $160.00 to look at my systems - not one bit of corrective work was performed. When I later got a second quote from another contractor to replace both systems, his estimate came to $4,000.00 less than Custom Air.

Absolutely wonderful! It is extremely quiet and very efficient. It's a 16 SEER and qualified for the federal tax credit and a Duke Energy rebate which lowered the total cost by about $1,900! Our power bill continues to go down.

They are fine. They did what they needed to do, and the quality of their work was fine.

I have been satisfied with both of their service calls. They did not find any problems with the air conditioning unit, however they did find one problem with the heating unit. The price and service were both excellent. They came out when they said that they would. I give Custom Air Inc. all A's for their service.

I was very pleased with the service. They completed it on time and it seems to work well. They cleaned up after themselves and I was overall, very pleased. I plan on using them for follow up maintenence as needed.

The service man came a head of the appointed time. The service man listened to what I said about how the furnace was not working and he started his inspection. A part was ordered on Monday and installed on Wednesday. The job was completed quickly, there was no mess and bottom line is there was heat in the house.
