 + -1 moreI contacted them (from Angie's list) for an estimate. The estimate was done over the phone. I thought it was too low and would change when they saw my second floor roof. They stuck to their estimate, did it within about an hour, used safety equipment and did not push me to sign a contract for on-going gutter cleaning. They encouraged me to call them again next year and I will, and will expect the same professional, courteous service as this year.

 + 2 moreWe called Higher Ground, they came out to give an estimate within a day or two...extremely fast. They quoted us on the work, and came in faster and less expensive than anybody else we talked to. On the day work started, they arrived promptly on-time. Everyone was extremely professional and courteous. They did a GREAT job on cleaning the gutters and pressure washing the house. The house looked amazing, and there was no paint or other damage from carelessness. They knew exactly what they were doing. The drainage from the downspouts was not connected properly, and was resulting in moisture around the foundation of the house. (thanks to sloppy work by our building contractor) The Higher Ground team fixed the downspouts and dug new drainage lines to re-route the water. The repair actually was more complex than they originally thought, but they didn't charge us any extra to complete the job. Fantastic! We have recommended these guys to others, and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

gutter cleaning
 + -1 moreI learned of this business on Angie's List and emailed them requesting a call for a quote. I was contacted by phone (as I requested) within 48 hours (I'd made my request on a Friday) and was given an estimate range and a date for service in ten days (I had advised them that I was in no particular rush). Ben called me the evening before the day of service, as he had promised, and advised that they would be out by 0900. While they didn't arrive until 0950, they were able to get to work promptly, after a quick review of the roof, and completed the job unsupervised after I left for work. They called me a little less than an hour later to explain the repair they had performed and the reasoning for it (very appropriate and showing good initiative) and advised me that they would leave their invoice in the front door, which they did.
Description of Work: Ben's crew provided an estimate on the phone based on my description of roof height and square footage of house and stuck to it. There was an additional $20 fee for first time cleaning (which I felt appropriate) and a repair charge which I felt reasonable (and which also showed good initiative on their part to address an issue which could have led to some foundation damage). They were (two workers) polite, energetic and knowledgeable, and did an excellent job in about an hour. One item I especially appreciated as part of the service (I didn't request it, but was curious about whether they would or would not do it unasked) was to sweep off oak tassels, etc. from the entire roof. I can't say I've ever been tempted to eat out of my roof gutters, but after this job, one almost could. I am planning to sign up for their annual contract for Fall and Spring service.

 + 0 moreBoth visits went really well. Trevor was a really nice guy. He made suggestions for fixing the problem and indicated that they were things that I could do if I chose do. Only after going over the different possibilities, and deciding which ones I would do and which I wanted him to do, did he begin evaluating the projects for an estimate. When projects were done, he worked quickly and he cleaned up after himself, leaving hardly a trace that he had been there. With roofing and guttering problems, the problem can seem to be fixed, but the proof is in what happens in the next rainstorm. In this case it took two visits. The first visit involved repairing an obvious problem (the gutter) and waiting to see if that fixed it all. If it did not, there were more things that he determined were possible causes, and they could be addressed on a subsequent visit if needed. Having a second visit was also a way to keep down the total cost, if the only thing needed was gutter repair. Trevor was mindful of the costs and tried to work in a way that would keep the costs down for me, a fact that I was very appreciative of.
Description of Work: The reason for the call to Higher Ground was high humidity in my crawlspace. I thought that it was probably caused by a overflowing rain gutter causing seepage into the crawlspace. The first visit ($50). The tilt of a gutter was corrected. Higher Ground thought that there were more causes for the crawlspace problem, but it was decided to first fix an obvious cause, and see how things went. During a subsequent heavy rainstorm, it was clear that the gutter overflow problem was cleared up, but problem had more than one cause -- the crawlspace still got wet. The second visit ($207). An underground 20 foot 4" PVC pipe was installed from a different rain downpipe to lead water away from the house. A foundation seal was placed around a sewage pipe leading into the septic tank to prevent outside water from getting into the crawlspace. Also, from the first visit, a leak causing a tiny thread of water from the bottom of the drainpipe was fixed. At this point, I am waiting to see if this resolves the problem. So far the humidity is lower than I have ever seen it in the crawlspace (I have a humidity sensor down there to track it), so I am expecting good results. If it is possible to do without making a separate entry, I will come back and update this entry once there is a heavy rainstorm to test all of this out. I don't expect the problem to continue though.

They cleaned up all debris dropped from the gutters and provided an estimate for a new gutter system. They also took a look at a chimney that was leaking and recommended having it repointed.

 + 0 moreWe decided to buy Gutter Stuff to put in our gutters, but then realized we needed some help getting to certain areas of our roof (too steep and dangerous). We received a quick estimate from Higher Ground Rainwater Solutions and decided to go with them. They were punctual, installed everything quickly and answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. They even suggested we install the gutter mesh protection on the gutter corners as they believes it is very effective. We were very happy with their suggestions and for the last 6 months have been very please with our gutter function. We plan on having then service our gutters every year.
Description of Work: Higher Ground Rainwater Solutions cleaned our gutters and installed our Gutter Stuff as well as some of their gutter protector (mesh). We had purchased the Gutter Stuff ourselves...so it is not factored into the fee.

 + -1 moreThey were very good. When I first hired them I had an awful lot of leaves in my gutters. They disposed of the leaves very well. They explained the difference between some of the relatively expensive gadgets that I can have put on my gutters. They told me that for my gutters it would be better if I didn't make that purchase, instead just have them come back twice a year to clean them. They have been here twice and the did particularly nice the second time they came out. I was very pleased with him not wanting to sale me something that I didn't really need. When I called them they told me they would be here within 10 to 15 minutes because they were finishing another job in the area, and they showed up within that time frame.

Given the height of parts of the roof I was pleased with the estimate. The actual work was done within the week. I remain flabbergasted that there is a service business which operates in such a timely and professional manner.

The estimate was reasonable (I have a very tall house) so I scheduled the work. They called after the work was completed to discuss the results and left me a bill.
Description of Work: They cleaned all gutters and downspouts, noticed a problem with the installation of one downspout (it had been cut short but was installed anyway, over an inch above the roofline), and recommended a modification.
