Higher Ground Rainwater Systems

They have been doing work for about three years. I have an old historic home. They are so careful and meticulous. They even taught me how to do my own windows. I cannot speak highly enough about them. They are a really great company. They are amazing!

They service is good and they are always on time.

I had used Higher Ground before to clean my gutters, and do the windows for my own home, as well as my rentals, so they weren't entirely new to me as a company. They'd always done very good work--clean, courteous, on time, good work at a very fair price. But I only recently I heard that they also offered drainline services, so it was sort of natural to (based on past satisfaction) to at least give them a chance to bid on a new problem: One of my rentals is a 1925 farmhouse, and there was significant water intrusion beginning inside the basement with water coming right through the old brickwork: the result of a poorly-installed set of exterior downspouts in combination with cheap black plastic drainpipe to handle the runoff (which we found had been completely crushed underground, and was useless.) With the old plastic drains crushed, the water had nowhere to pour off, so the water from the downspouts pooled the water against the exterior foundation without anywhere to drain--except that it found its way downward, and inside my basement, through the brick. When I consulted with Scott Carroll, he brought in his drainline people to assess the situation, and gave me an estimate of $450 to install proper pvc pipe for the runoff to the street, with a french drain at the side of our stairs to be sure that all water was directed away from the foundation, using solid, properly installed pvc pipe that would last a long time. The result? My basement has now been through 2 serious rain spells so far, and it is BONE dry. BONE dry. Absolutely dry as baking flour. I'm ridiculously thrilled. And after the guys were finished, I looked at that side of the yard, and realized they had cleaned up so well, and replaced the grass (where the drainline ditch had been dug) and I couldn't tell exactly where the new drainline was: their clean up was very very very good. I am having a similar drainage issue at my own house (not one of my rentals), and made a couple of calls to people who advertise to help you "keep your basement dry". One company wanted to dig out around the whole exterior foundation and basically rubber-coat the exterior foundation brick with a sealer and then back fill for a mere $11,000. I'm not kidding. Another company suggested digging a trench (a perimeter drain) in the basement and installing a sump pump for $3500. But honestly, having seen the results at the rental house that were really just caused by stupid drainage system design and cheap drainpipe, I'm going to call and have Higher Ground assess the drainage situation here, and hopefully save myself somewhere between $3000 and $10,000 dollars.Totally worth it.

Well done job. Seem to be focusing on getting me into a 'contract' to do gutters in spring too.

Information on special was sent to company and they went out in two days and did the work. Other estimates were much higher. Glad I waited for the special.

Excellent job. Two very presentable and capable workers. It's hard work, for 4 or 5 hours. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

A branck fell on a 15 ft section of gutter, denting it. Higher Ground came and repaired; it was simple. I expected about this cost based on talks with my insurance carrier (it was below the deductable for "act of nature")

There was an issue when my windows were done...they came right back and made it all right...no questions asked!..They showed up when they said they would..send me email reminders..etc..All in all...there work is excellent...would use them again with or without a deal..very pleased

Told us when they would come to quote, and came on time. Estimator very professional. Scheduing within 10 hrs. Crew arrived on time. Work begun within 2 days. We were home at the time, and all workers were efficient and polite, did a good job, were willing to work around problems we had created with two skylights. We would definitely use them again and recommend them. Averaged out at about $10/ window, including screens

Higher Ground had to do a last minute reschedule, but came back rapidly & did a stellar job. Because of the reschedule, they cleaned my 14th window at no charge. The service technician was courteous and did a super job. I will have them back whenever the wife wants our windows cleaned.

They arrived on time and finished within 2 1/2 hrs. When I found some debris on sills and screens, they quickly cleaned them. They had a very good attitude.

I was unable to be present when they did the job. Without supervision they did a fine job.

It went very well. We had to change the dates once and they were very accommodating.

Higher Grounds explanation was confusing. I made it clear when I called recently who I was, gave the date of the original purchase and the coupon confirmation number. It was when it was mentioned I wanted to change the date, because of the roof scheduled to be replaced the week of November 19th, that I was told appointments were not made any later than the 20th, due to the weather. And, that he had made the date of November 20th, “ because of my original early appointment. Because of this schedule differential I prompted Angie's List for a refund and will be using another company to perform the window washing.

Over a month later and no more water in the basement.

Overall it was a good experience. The two workers were prompt, courteous, and diligent. Cleaning the screens was really our only issue, and if we have them return for a future cleaning, I would specify that I wanted the screens washed and taken down outside the house rather than brought inside and carried outside as they did with the second floor screens. I think bringing them inside was probably faster for those windows, but it meant the pollen, etc. came inside with them. Otherwise, they really did a good job. My windows sparkle!
