Description of Work: They did everything that I asked and more. Their electrical contractor ran his wire too close to the bottom of the floor joist, well out of the neutral axis (center of the joist) in a place or three. This is a definite NO! NO!

Description of Work: Came out the same afternoon when my heating system stopped working during a deep freeze day. A friend had installed a new thermostat incorrectly causing the failure and the service manager came and corrected the installation problem immediately. I was also planning to set up an annual maintenance program with them and he handled the set up for that program that day and scheduled a full service for the following week. I was very pleased with both service calls and am now on an annual maintenance program for heating and air system. Costs were competitive and no extra fee was charged for coming at 5 pm.

Description of Work: Replaced/installed new heat pump in attic. Very difficult job having to navigate in small space and up narrow steps. Entire crew were polite, professional, thoughtful and extremely hard working who went the extra mile for me. Description of Work: When making the appointment, I informed contact that 30 yr-old Burnham boiler furnace/water heater wd start, but shut down seconds later. Cause, I suspected: oil filter, line, or nozzle stopped up. Bring replacement to save time, if possible. Repairman did not; went downstairs to check furnace, after 20 min. informed me that too much air had been added to fuel mix, blowing out flame ( I never had run across that before in 20 years, but ok). The bill was $135, minus #10 coupon. ( $89 for service call, $46 for repair). I asked whether he replaced either filter or nozzle; he stated he cleaned the nozzle, but did not check filter; had noticed old filter next to it. I reminded him that earlier I'd told him my son had meant to change it, but that store had been closed. This was that same filter; the housing was empty. He then inquired whether I wanted him to put the old filter back in. That seemed rather obvious to me, considering the boiler was running and the newly-cleaned nozzle would soon stop up otherwise. Having accomplished that, he returned upstairs and only then informed me that the fuel pump was pretty old and a solenoid was going bad. All in all, the repair seemed rather haphazardly carried out, considering that it's easier to change the filter, for example, than to get to the nozzle. I was unable to observe or confirm anything myself, since I'm wheelchair-bound. At any rate, the furnace runs.

Description of Work: Blower motor on furnace went out on Thanksgiving evening. Bam came out, diagnosed the problem and rewired the motor and also repaired a poorly installed thermostat. Excellent service, excellent work, much appreciated.

Description of Work: They installed a new heating and A/C system, removing the older Apollo hot water heating system. Our new system was efficient and therefore eligible for Federal tax credits. Each employee was courteous, professional, and explained what they would do before each part of the project.

+ -1 moreVery punctual and professional, explained everything before they did it. The bill was hefty, but not unreasonable for the amount of work. The main thing is that they know what they are doing and they do it fast. This was a fair price for excellent work.
Description of Work: Repaired two furnaces and two heat pumps, and performed seasonal service on them all. I had a burned out relay that had my furnace pumping heat in 95 degree weather. They identified the problem and repaired it and did a good job. Once here, they reviewed all the equipment at my request and found several things that needed to be repaired and upgraded, showed me the parts that were damaged, and clearly did not inflate the work.

I called another company first thing monday morning and they could not fit me in to their schedule during that day, however, they could fit me in if I paid the overtime fee. Then I called Carolina Comfort, and they sent someone out right away, within 30 minutes. He came out, assessed the problem, put in the new capacitors, and checked the charge on the system. We have cool air again. The bill was $176.00, however, I had a coupon from Angieslist for $10.00 (which they honored) and so the bill was $166.00. Very Professional company, I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: He changed a faulty capacitor and checked the charge on the heat pump compressor.

+ -1 moreOur A/C wasn't cooling (running but nothing blowing out the vent) On checking we noticed the tube outside was frozen. I called in the morning and the repairman was out that afternoon. This was the hottest day of the year. He was courteous and checked the inside unit first. Pointed out dirty coils and water not draining properly. Checked other parts and then went outside. There were two parts that although not causing our immediate problem were probably going to go soon. He showed them to me and I could see that they were leaking. I agreed that they should be replaced so as to save a service call at a later date. He did have to leave for about an hour to get the parts but was back and completed the repair quickly.

His inspection of old hvac system and information about the new one were thorough, and he explained the complete process of taking out the old and putting in the new equipment. The installation went just as I was told it would. Each person who came to my home was courteous and professional. The equipment is operating as efficiently as promised. The cost was reasonable, too. A wonderful experience from start to finish!

+ -1 moreCame out to talk to me same day I called. Came out next day to do repair. They were confident they could repair my furnace and heat pump while other companies just tried to convince me that I needed to replace them and then sell me a whole new system. I don't have a top of the line name brand dual heating/A/C system but it is only about 9-10 years old. With the economy the way it is now, who can come up with $ 7-10,000.00 right away. I was worried sick about this with a 3 story home only heating on 1 level, kids to keep warm and focused on school and being a widow and single mom now. Plus, this was during the coldest part of the winter during the coldest temperatures on record for a long long time. Well, the problem ended up being related to and in part a blocked intake pipe and dirty coils in the gas furnace. That brought up the question, "What about that maintenance I had been paying for with the other company that wanted to sell me a new one?" I'll take a $500 fix over a $7-10,000 replacement any day not even to mention the hassle of all the time and inconvenience involved in the replacement. Eco friendly is important to me, too. Then the company representative called me back to make sure I was with heat and had no further problems.
Description of Work: Had a NO heat situation and they came out and got the furnace and heat pump running again within a few hours. The representative for the company (Doug) was very nice and the technician was very thorough and new his job - he answered all my questions and was willing to explain to me what all he was doing and what was wrong and had to be fixed.

+ -1 moreThey reported that the furnace was working fine; however, by the evening of the day of service, the furnace would not turn on. So we called and they came back out and found out that there was a broken wire, which was replaced and it has been working wonderfully since. We have used at least 4 other heating and cooling companies in the past, and this has been our best experience due to the fact that they came back out without charging us again and actually were able to fix the problem.

+ -1 moreI've used this company in the past for service calls, including a repair to my air conditioning 1 month ago. They have always been very responsive and have a great rating with the Better Business Bureau. They also gave me the best price on this type of system. Doug Peery, who gave me the estimate, explained things in detail and responded quickly during the process. I was not in a rush for the installation but it was scheduled in about 2 weeks. The work took 2 1/2 days. A technician arrived to remove the freon from the old system as the installer arrived to start disassembling my old heat pump. An assistant arrived for him the next day, the technician returned Saturday morning to finish the wiring and other technical work. Not having been through this before I was very impressed with the organization of the job. All 3 workers took pride in their work, left everything very neat. The installers had arranged everything carefully for the technician to do the following day. When he arrived, neat bundles of wires were already arranged along with other pieces of equipment he would need. Both the indoor and outdoor units look great. At my request, the installer also hauled away an old dehumidifier with my old heat pump. Overall, an excellent job.
Description of Work: Due to the age of my heat pump I decided to replace the system. I received a few estimates and arranged to replace my existing system with a new York Heat Pump. This included replacing both indoor and outdoor units, thermostat and condensate pump, while using my existing ductwork etc.
