We moved into a house with an old furnace this year. I received recommendations for several companies from people in the area and contacted Mountain Mechanical after seeing their rating on Angie's List. The office staff took our information, scheduled the appointment and confirmed it the previous day. Tony came to service the furnace. He was on time, very courteous, worked on the furnace, and checked fittings both indoors and outdoors. His answers to my questions gave me enough confidence in Mountain Mechanical's service that I decided to sign the service contract for a year in order to get their Spring service for the air conditioning unit.
Description of Work: We had our gas furnace was serviced for the winter.

Eric came on time and called to let us know he was on the way. When he got here he looked at both the inside and outside portions of the system and then made a number of tests and measurements which he recorded on a printed form. We are quite happy with his work and will definitely use Mountain Air (and Eric) in the future.
Description of Work: Eric performed the heating portion of the two visit service contract and will return in the spring to perform the cooling tests on our heat pump. He explained what he was doing at each step and made suggestions about what we could do to increase the efficiency of our system.

Our AC quit working at the hottest part of the day so I called to get advice/troubleshooting. After re-setting the breaker we found it was still not working so decided to have a repair man come out to diagnose the problem. By then it was after 5:00 but it was only about 30 minutes before a technician was here and was able to fix it with the parts he had on his truck. This is the 2nd time we've used this company and are very pleased with their quick response time.

Our A/C quite working on Wednesday night. The power to the thermostat was completely off. This has happened before but the A/C would start working again after a few days. I called Mountain Air on Thursday morning. They had someone at our home by 1 pm same day. The technician was able to diagnose the problem in minutes. Our filter was clogged. The drip pan was filled with several gallons of water. The safety switch automatically killed the power to prevent a flood. After the water was drained, the technician serviced the unit and was on his way.
Description of Work: Cleared upstairs air handler filter and drained drip pan.

This is the third time we have dealt with Mountain Air Mechanical. I just don't believe you can find a more professional group anywhere. Our heating and air conditioning system was approximately 16 years old. We have a 4,500 square foot home. The upstairs air conditioning system needed some work. The compressor went out and the choice was to replace the upstairs system or just go the complete new HVAC system route. We decided to go all out. We contacted Mountain Air Mechanical, Danny came to the house the next day. He did a complete review of everything, and gave us several options. I called him back a couple of times just to confirm a few items, and then gave him the go ahead. The company sent a team of really sharp, professional, "people-friendly" technicians to do the work. They worked very diligently for three days. They paid close attention to cleanliness. They inspected their work, and reinspected several times. These guys are awesome! Danny came by the house this morning to do another inspection, and to see if we are happy with the work and the system. I can't see us calling anyone but Mountain Air Mechanical in the future when we need help with our heating and A/C. We are very pleased with them.

I was told over the phone that there will be an upfront fee of $90 for diagnosis, which I was fine with. I was also told that the technician will provide me with a repair estimate before performing the work. He came into the house and proceeded to troubleshoot the system. There was no estimate provided. I was just slapped on the face with a $385 bill for refilling my system with freon. I was also told that the technician will provide me with a repair estimate before performing the work. Response from Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors
Our customer is completely correct in this case. During the service call, our technician did not properly communicate the repair costs to the customer, and he assumed approval instead of conversing with the customer first. The customer contacted our office the morning after his service call to express his concerns. Mountain Air Mechanical took full responsibility for its actions and charged what was initially approved by the customer. We appreciate our customers bringing matters like these to our attention so we may improve our customer service. Carol A. Graham Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors, Inc.

My heat pump stopped working on Memorial Day, and it was 90 degress in my house. I called Mountain air at 8am on Tuesday and they were here by 2:45 the same day. Within one hour the capacitor(condenser) was replaced and my house was cooling down. I researched prices and they were very competitive. I was most impressed with the communication of service time. First the office gave me a two hour window. Then the office called me at the start of the window to give me an even more specific time. Then they called one last time and told me the service person was on their way. I had called 3 other HVAC places and none of them could squeeze me in to even check what the problem was. Excellent service!
Description of Work: My heat pump stopped working. The furnace fan was running but unit outside would not turn on, and my house was 90 degrees! The capacitor had blown and had to be replaced, which was done in under an hour.

Crew arrived on time and very professional. From start to finish the entire crew was very efficient, professional, courteous, respectful of our property and very particular about their work. Everyone, without exception, on the crew was very professional and really knew their individual jobs. We are very pleased with the work and would recommend Mountain Air to anyone.
Description of Work: Install a 3 ton A/C-Heating unit for upstairs and install a 1 1/2 ton A/C-Heating for the basement. Basement required duct work and electrical work. Heating units are gas furnace. Danny Dill, salesman, was very professional when he provided contract price for work we needed. He had everything he needed on his computer to give us the contract price that day. We did get several estimates and chose Mountain Air based on professionalism and reviews. We also wanted to use Trane and Mountain Air is a Trane dealer.

Danny Dill was our service rep. All appointments were promptly made and kept. Danny was great to work with. Nice guy and seems to know his stuff. Estimate was prompt and fully explained. He followed up with calls re some special offers from Trane. Informative but not pushy. Installation team worked quickly, professionally, and unobtrusively. Danny did the followup inspection and orientation to the system we installed. Prompt, courteous, professional service. It's scary to spend this much money, but we felt we were getting honest service and were confident that the work would be done well. Highly recommend and will use for our a/c, heating system service from now on.

I found this company on Angie's and can't say enough good things about the service they gave me. I have used them for maintenance for a number of years and have been completely satisfied with their work. The salesman who came to sell the unit was not on commission- a bonus. He explained how the unit worked, why he suggested the one he did and made a timely appt. to have the work performed. He returned a week after the work was completed to be sure I was satisfied and to arrange payment. He also sent in all the paperwork necessary for the warranty and rebate. The workmen were prompt, very courteous and professional from the very beginning. They did their work in a very timely manner and totally cleaned up after finishing. Before each step of the project began I was introduced to all of the workmen and was also notified each time they were leaving. Would definitely recommend them and will continue to use them for maintenance.

They scheduled me within a couple days during cold weather, which is pretty impressive. They were prompt. The technicians very very professional if somewhat young. I still have a few problems but I think it has more to do with older fuel oil (it was in the tank when I bought the house) and a 'vintage' furnace. I have several rental homes and I will give them all my business. An overall "A".
Description of Work: They serviced an older furnace. First, in order for me to obtain a CO, then for malfunction.

Although the contract was signed in August, we elected to have the installation in October because we would be without air conditioning or heat for several days and hoped to pick a time that neither would be necessary. Our salesman, Danny, was excellent not only in the initial meeting and in designing a cost-effective system, but in keeping us informed about the progress along the way. The Mountain Air installers arrived on the date that had been scheduled two months prior and wasted no time in removing and hauling away the old unit and ductwork. The new system was installed over the next three days and the county inspection passed on the fifth day. In addition, we needed to have a three foot hole in the stucco foundation repaired from where the old unit had stood. Mountain Air coordinated a block mason (separate payment) who made the repair and we did not have to try to locate someone willing to do such a small job. Everyone was very courteous and concerned about doing a quality job for the customer. At the conclusion of the installation, Danny came back to the residence and took care of all the paperwork including the warranty registration as well as the rebate forms. Overall, we are very pleased our choice of equipment as well as with Mountain Air. They did an exemplary job and have an excellent group of professional employees!
Description of Work: After obtaining numerous estimates we selected Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors, Inc. to replace our old "packaged" heating and cooling unit with a new Trane "hybrid" system that includes a heat pump as well as a natural gas furnace. In addition, we chose to have our old ductwork removed and upgraded to a better designed and insulated system. The project also includes a new programmable, digital thermostat, a one year routine maintenance contract, as well as relocating the system to the crawl space of the residence.

They did the installation 2 1/2 weeks ago and came last week to settle the bill. From the day they came out to give me the estimate they were completely professional. We discussed everything and I contacted them several times with questions. There was always a return call if they were not available the minute I called them. They were here on time. They told me up front that it would take two days and they did the work as promised. The actual installers were extremely professional and they knew what they were doing. They were not afraid to answer any questions about the unit. I am not a heating and air conditioning person so I sometimes had questions about how things worked. They were not necessarily the cheapest in the market but they quoted me a high end Trane unit and another individual quoted a different brand for more money.

We phoned on a Monday - they could have come later that day but we scheduled for the next day. The following day the assigned tech phoned even earlier than the 2-hour window they gave us. From the person on the phone scheduling to the technician who performed the service - very thorough and professional. I highly recommed these folks and we will use them in the future!! We were charged only the house call fee even though he corrected the problem. Refreshing!!
Description of Work: Our air conditioner stopped - the fan in the house was blowing - the outside unit wouldn't turn on. The technician quickly and thoroughly checked everything, inside and out, and found that one of our inside breakers was beginning to malfunction. He fixed it, marked it for our future reference, gave suggestions on how to get it replaced/fixed by an electrician in the future and then we had air!!

My experience was wonderful. The repair was performed the day I called. I got a call as the technician was leaving the previous job with an estimated time of arrival. The start and finish time was within the time window I was originally given. I was thrilled to have the whole system looked at, and I understand it much better now. I appreciated being asked whether I wanted to add coolant. The repair person was thoroughly professional, informative, and careful in everything he did. I would highly recommend Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors for maintenance and repair work on AC systems.
Description of Work: AC system had completed stopped working. House fan was OK, but unit outside house would not turn on. Repair person quickly diagnosed the problem--replaced the capacitor. Then he did an overall tune-up and maintenance on AC system. He checked the coolant level which was low, asked if I wanted to add more, then added refrigerant,

They gave me an estimate after surveying my present system. Then they came out a second time to solve some concerns I had (They did an excellent job solving them). They set a date to do the work, Showed up as promised, finished the complete removal of all the old system and replaced it with the 95% efficient system all in one day (12 hard working hours) with people that new what they were doing. Next day they had a County inspector come out (no charge to me) and give his approval. That same day a Technician came out to make sure everything was working correctly. We had one small glitch, but it was fixed immediately. They did the best job of all heat & A/C companies I have used. Some I have used are complete ripoff artists. This company and it's employees were very professional in every way.

They had to order a part which they thought would take longer to receive than it actually did, so they were able to do the repairs even sooner than they orginally thought. This all took place during a very cold snap and a very busy time for them. We had gotten a quote from another company which was about $300 dollars more than Mountain Air's. The overall experience was excellent. They were on time and very professional. The work was completed in a timely fashion. The technician did no dilly dally. I would definately use them again and would recommend them highly.

I had an intermittent problem returning from last winter. During periods of extreme cold the furnace would stop. I could restart it by cycling the "fan" button on the thermostat. Last winter the home was under a new buyer warranty policy. They sent out 2 different companies a total of 5 times and could not fix it. Mountain Air was able to diagnose and fix the problem in one short visit.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired a recurring problem that had the furnace quitting. replaced a "sequencer" controller with a "relay".
