I can't quite decide what I think about Environmental Chimney Sweep. He did the inspection which is what we wanted and then he came in with a proposal with $5000 worth of repairs which I wasn't okay with, so I don't exactly know what to say. The worker was professional, he had a whole set-up he used to do the evaluation and then he gave his recommendations.

Highly recommend this company and will use them again!

It went very badly. I initially made an appointment to have my chimney cleaned. Johnny Ferguson showed up on time as scheduled. He took a look up my chimney from inside with his flashlight, spent about five minutes assessing the integrity of the fireplace box from the basement and decided that the solution to my problem was a very expensive "fix" called a Bellfire system. When I said that the $6000.00 solution was way out of my price range, he offered no other suggestions. He just assured me that the system would add that much to the resale value of my home. As I have just moved into my home and needed a functional fireplace NOW, knowing how much the Bellfire system would make for me in the future was not very helpful. Things went downhill from there. He kept talking about a system I could not afford and was not interested in. When I got an email with the written quote, the whole system was over $8000.00 installed. He had not heard anything I said! I got a second opinion. Yes, my fireplace was not in good enough shape to use safely with wood in its present state. But, the second contractor gave me a number of different options, the most expensive being around $3500.00 for wood use. He listened when I said that was also out of my price range. He then gave me options where I could use my current fireplace and chimney with a gas system. That I could afford! And, he showed up and gave me the quote for FREE. I hired him to do the job immediately. My complaint is not that Johnny Ferguson is incompetent. My complaint is that he seems to be on a mission to sell Bellfire systems. He spent a lot of his time and mine discussing an option I made clear early in our conversation was not remotely affordable to me. It is also interesting to me that the second contractor could have gotten me set up with a wood system for thousands of dollars less. My other complaint is that I feel that the service he provided was not worth $95.00. I have now learned the standard is to give free quotes. I had two of them. I initially contacted Mr. Ferguson to clean my chimney. To do so would not have been useful under the circumstances. He had the skill to know that simply cleaning the chimney was not going to mean it was safe to use. The visit turned into an assessment instead. which I feel should have been done for free. I have contacted Mr. Ferguson about this and asked for a refund. But, he basically responded by calling into question the competency of the second contractor. I have used Angie's list for a number of other service providers. This is my only bad experience. Everyone else has been great. I would still like to get my $95.00 refunded. Thanks!

In January 2013 we purchased a chimney cleaning and inspection for $129 through Angie's List. Richie Baxley cleaned and inspected our chimney. He took excellent care to protect our carpeting and did a thorough job of cleaning and inspecting our chimney. We mentioned to Richie we had been experiencing smoke coming back into the house on windy days. Our house is in a "scooped out" lot with a street going behind our house at a higher elevation than our roof top and top of our chimney which causes the wind to fly right down our chimney as it comes off the hill side. Richie suggested a chimney fan to draw the air out of the chimney with a very strong force and preventing wind to enter the chimney. The project involved installing an electric fan with a control switch located inside the house . Richie did not hesitate to involve an electrical subcontractor to make sure all work was correctly done and up to code. Richie was very thorough in researching the kind and size of fan needed to fit our chimney which was an odd size. Richie did excellent work and was very conscientious and professional. We will definitely turn to Environmental Chimney Sweep in the future for chimney cleaning and any other project involving our chimney. We highly recommend Environmental Chimney Sweep.

The appointment was on-time and on estimate. He did a thorough job cleaning both chimneys and inspecting both. In fact, he spent a good deal of time taking apart one of our pipes and systems just to make sure it was okay. He was honest and kept both properties clean. The last time I had a cleaning done, the houses smelled of smoke afterwards. He has a professional vacuum cleaning system to ensure filtration and no soot anywhere. (Hint: If your chimney cleaner arrives with a standard $50 ShopVac--like the one we used last year--they are not professional and your house will smell). We have already set it up so that we can use him each year. Makes me feel a lot better that he is one of the very few in our area who is a licensed and certified chimney sweeper and repairer. Anyway, very highly recommend!

Seemed to do a thorough cleaning. Suggested a few repairs, but we decided to convert to a gas fireplace, negating the need for any repairs.

I bought the house 1/2013 and found the chimney that serves 2 fireplaces to be leaking water inside the attic down the surfaces of the chimney. The home inspector had said there was evidence of prior leaking, was dry at time of inspection, leaks may have been corrected by the recent new roof. Mr. Baxley provided a written proposal with costs broken down for each scope item for me to choose. I was very pleased with his work, attitude and professionalism.

We saw the $129.00 Angie's List Chimney Sweep Special and thought it would be a good deal. We did not know at first, though, that after clicking to pay by PayPal that it would be our responsibility to contact the company. We kept waiting and finally called Angie's List. They said it really wasn't clearly described on their website that the customer should contact the company. But once we did, the company showed up on time and did an excellent and fast job.

I have been in constant contact with them over the past couple of months. They did have to cancel once because the technician broke his arm. I spoke with them today and they informed me that since the seasons are changing, to just get a refund from Angie's List. They put me on a list to be contacted in the fall when the work will need to be done.

The price was very good. The install did require that they had to come to redo the chimney bracing but that was done voluntarily by the owner of E. Chimney without complaint.

After giving explicit directions he showed up almost an hour late claiming to have been looking for an hour. Then claimed that it was too late in the day to do the work and that his helper had broken his hand and he needed his helpers expertise. Twice when I mentioned the coupon he claimed to have "forgotten about it".

We've had chimney swifts for a few years, and just avoided fires while they were in residence. This year a couple of the babies died, and we had a stink and allergy problem. Environmental Chimney Sweep made two visits. On the first they determined that there were still active nests, and so they could do nothing. On the second, they removed the decaying birds, cleaned the chimney, and capped it. Their work was neat, efficient, and friendly. We highly recommend them. FWIW, "Environmental" doesn't necessarily relate to the global environment--it's your personal environment they aim to improve.

They did a great job. They arrived on time, finished promptly and cleaned up completely after they finished. We will use them again!

They just did great. They showed up when they said they were going to and did what they said they were going to do. They are going to put me on their check up list. They were just fabulous.

Service provider had quoted service price on a previous visit. He was on time and worked neatly. Price was exact number that had been quoted. I would use this company again.

Overall I think it went well. I don’t think they did a thorough job of cleaning after the sweep. I will consider using their services again in the future.

He was clean and didn't leave a mess. He pointed out some things that were wrong and gave us a solution to problems he found.

Environmental did a great job, I am very happy with them. They are very professional, courteous, and reasonable.

Quick response, but the work on the chimney cap failed within a week. He said he gave 3 year guarantee, but after trying to contact him I'm either going to try to fix this myself or hire someone else. His repair was just as bad as the problem.

I called and made an appointment a few days in advance. Richie called right around our scheduled time and informed me he was running late but would arrive within the hour. Once he got to our house it took him and his assistant almost no time to fix the damper.
