Description of Work: A pesky scurry of flying squirrels had taken up residence in the rafters of my cabin in December of 2015. Being nocturnal critters, the noise would start up around 1 or 2 in the morning; running, chewing, and God only knows what else. Asheville Wildlife Removal were responsive and very professional. Being an old cabin in the woods, it took about a month to evict all of the squatters as Asheville Wildlife Removal worked diligently to find all the access points the squirrels were using and seal them up. Asheville Wildlife Removal used a series of humane one-way traps that would let the squirrels out of the rafters but deny them entrance. Overall, I am very happy with the work performed and have no reservations about recommending their services.

Description of Work: They performed a thorough examination of my house to find out where mice were getting in. Then they sealed up the house put out bait stations and were very professional every step of the way. We like Rusty a lot and we would be comfortable referring others to him and his company.

Description of Work: I called and told them my problem with carpenter bees. They said they would call back when they gathered some information but did not think they dealt with such problems. They never called back. I would probably use them if I had a problem with wild like, e.g., raccoons, etc.

Response from Asheville Wildlife Removal LLC
(removed member name), I'm so sorry that the secretary forgot to call you back. We don't remove carpenter bees because we haven't found a method that is 100% effective. We do have a few suggestions that might be helpful. The secretary was most likely wanting to confirm those suggestions were correct with one of the technicians before calling you back. Again I apologize for any inconvenience and please let us know if we can help you in any way.

We just moved into an older home and the previous owner warned us that mice come into the house seasonally. Because there's nothing I hate more than mice, I wanted to make an effort to do more than just set traps to control them. The only hope of keeping mice under control in my experience is to try to plug the holes where they're coming in from the start. I've had good luck with past houses by taking this approach. Based on some Angie's List reviews, I wanted a company that tries to eradicate, not just control mice. It seemed like Asheville Wildlife Removal offered an array of services and after talking to them on the phone, they said they would do a thorough inspection of entry points. I was told right up front the fee for that service. After a thorough inspection of our house, Rusty and his colleague Cory fully explained where it looked like mice were coming in and what would be needed to make the house sealed. Neither did they try to scare me and said it didn't appear there is an active mouse population in the house right now. They also took the time to let me know what other creatures might get into the house and how to prevent that. They presented options for handling all the problems. Because this is an older home located in the woods, there are many places for wildlife to enter the house, so it's not such a quick or easy fix. I told them I wanted my house to be a fortress, so I expected it would cost some money. Their quoted price for the work was $2200.00 which seems fair because they're specifically working to plug up even some very small holes all around the house, from top to bottom. Not to mention addressing some construction problems which are leftover from previous owners. I'm guessing I could get a so-called handyman to do the same work perhaps at a lower price, but I don't feel confident it would be done with the expertise of controlling rodents that this company has. So I am scheduling the work to be done by Asheville Wildlife Removal. They've agreed to work out the timing so I can get all of the work done according to my budgetary and calendar requirements. Thank you, Rusty!

When a critter was banging and flopping around in our chimney, I called Rusty who came out within two hours. Whatever it was had escaped but Rusty found a breach in the screening of the chimney. A few days later, he and his colleague Corey fixed the problem-- and took it upon themselves to repair a secondary breach. They were professional, efficient and friendly.
Description of Work: Service call to remove a critter from the chimney. Repaired chimney breaches.

Rusty Russell was very prompt and knowledgeable. He took time to inform us of our problem and how to be aware of any further problems. I wouldn't think of using anyone else around my area.
Description of Work: We had a possum move in under our porch. Rusty and his helper checked under the decks, porches and under the crawl space to check out thesituation. He installed a foam/mesh in one corner where maybe something could get it in in the future.

Wow! I learned a lot from this experience about wildlife regulations. Rusty Russell was a professional but had time to talk to a child. On his three return visits, he scheduled them after school so the boy could participate. Did I mention that he cleaned up and did not leave a mess? Quote was a little less than originally stated (how often does that happen?). Best $485 I have spent in some time. I have recommended Rusty Russell to my HOA and to several other people in our area.
Description of Work: Pest control is not the same as "critter" control as I learned in January. To remove critters ranging from bees to raccoons and all species in between, you need a qualified wildlife specialist. This means: certified & licensed by NC wildlife regulations; insured & bonded with a knowledge of a variety of critters. Up to date on vaccinations would be helpful considering bites and scratches, Rusty Russell is all that and more. He returned my frantic call within thirty minutes and listened carefully as I described what was happening at my rental. Based on my ramblings, Rusty gave an educated guess; explained his background; explained initial charges with other fees related to removal of "said varmint". He agreed to meet at the unit that afternoon, actually arriving early, much to my tenant's delight. The unit is on the second level and has an attic. When last painted & repaired around the eaves, a small opening had not been sealed. That was just enough for "Ms. Flying Squirrel" and her friends to gain entrance. Their party must have gotten out of hand because Ms. Squirrel fell between two walls and commenced to creating havoc around midnight which scared my tenant and her son. Rusty and his employee determined that the animal was a flying squirrel and located its position in the laundry wall. The attic was sealed and traps were set in the attic before removing the squirrel. Rusty cut a small hole and retrieved one tiny but angry flying squirrel, which bit him. The most interesting part was the tenant's 7year old son who was invited to be Rusty's "helper"...hold the trap. Rusty patiently answered all the questions and explained what he knew about this breed of squirrel. Rusty made three visits to the attic over the next week and removed five more flying squirrels. Removal means relocation for most animals and is usually in a more "critter-friendly" environment.
