While it took a little longer to receive his estimate, it was competitive and well written and included references.It was clear that he is has a full schedule and it took a little longer to get started than I hoped, but Clifton was responsive to questions and concerns and also provided suggestions for problem areas. It can be difficult to do work where the work has been started by someone else(in this case the homeowner), but the Carolina Exteriors Plus crew jumped in and did a great job.
Description of Work: Carolina Exterior Plus installed siding and soffit on exposed beams of new porch. They also installed guttering and replaced siding where it had been removed from the house to attach the roof of the new porch.

+ 1 moreThe masonite siding on one side of my house was falling apart so I needed to decide whether to just replace the worst sections or re-side the whole house. Clifton came out to give me an estimate and talk about my options. He was great at answering questions and explaining what to expect, and from his estimate (as well as others I received) it made the most sense to re-side the whole house. Within a couple weeks the project was underway. The crew worked long days and made great progress each day. They finished the majority of the siding installation the first week and finished up the trim, reinstalling the gutters, painting, etc., the next week. I also had two new windows installed and I love them (wish I could replace them all now!). My house looks fantastic and I'd definitely recommend Carolina Exteriors Plus -- they do quality work, care about the details, and Clifton and the rest of the guys were all very pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: Remove/dispose of existing masonite siding from whole house; replace with Hardie ColorPlus siding; replace soffits and almost all wood trim on the house with Hardie trim products; replace several areas of rotted wood; paint exterior doors and trim; install two new windows.

His pricing was competitive with other quotes we received on the same scope of work. The estimate included a checklist of other upcoming repairs and estimates for our own planning, along with a lengthy reference list of other homeowners who had similar work done. We appreciated that. After we finalized the scope of work to be done and the estimate via e-mail, the work was executed within a short period of time (a few days). We were surprised how quickly they got the work done (1 day). The quality of work was very good.
Description of Work: Removed old masonite siding on top half of 2-story chimney. Installed new HardiePlank siding. Painted new HardiePlank siding to match existing siding.

+ 3 moreClifton came out toward the end of 2012 to give us an estimate on the work. Right off I liked, and more importantly, trusted him. We had noticed his company doing several of our neighbors houses and researched his company on Angie's list. When his estimate came in at a fair price we signed the contract that day. With the holidays approaching we worked out a start date of early to mid-January. The work began on time, was stalled a few times due to bad weather but completed before we needed it done. We were not staying at the house while the work was going on, but a very knowledgeable and picky neighbor told us that he was impressed with the work they did. Met Clifton toward the end of the project to do the walkthru. He took notes and had the punch list completed soon after. I appreciated that Clifton responded to either our phone calls or emails promptly. The house looks brand new, the wood rot is gone! and the porch spindles are actually attached to the railings now. We then rented the house out and the renters loved the look of the house. Thanks Clifton and guys. Be sure to ask Clifton about traveling through Memphis.

+ 2 moreClifton contacted me and arranged a time to do the estimate. He arrived on time and provided a detailed explanation of the company and their experience with the James Hardie product. He conducted a thorough review of the house and explained exactly what they would propose and include in the estimate. The written detailed estimate was completed within two days. The price was similar or less to other estimates I received from contractors who did not provide the detail of services that Carolina Exteriors Plus provided. The work started on time and the siding/carpentry crew was very professional. They maintained a neat work area and cleaned up at the end of each day.The quality of the Hardi Plank Color Plus siding installation was excellent. This crew also replaced rotted wood that was identified during the estimate. The paint crew started next to paint the trim. Their work was good but there seemed to be issues with the scheduling of their time. The overall performance of Carolina Exteriors Plus was excellent. I have received many compliments from friends and neighbors about the appearance of my home.

+ 3 moreIt started with postcard. After seeing that Carolina Exteriors Plus used Hardi Plank siding (our preferred choice for siding), we decided to call for an estimate. Clifton, the owner, was prompt and thorough with explaining the process and answering our question. He took measurements and was prompt in getting an estimate back to us. Even though we were pleasantly surprised by estimated cost, we did get another estimate...which was higher. We decided to take the plunge and move forward. We were given a start date, it was delayed by a day or two due to delivery issues. Once the job was started we were continually impressed by the crew doing the work. On time everyday, working the entire day, friendly, no standing around. The job finished on time. As the finish due near, the crew grew larger to complete the finishing touches. Nearly every evening we received a email report on the what work was done that day, what was scheduled for the next day, and any problems that discovered (e.g. wood rot), along with pictures. I would not hesitate to recommend Carolina Exteriors Plus to anyone. This was a first-class team of workers.

+ 2 moreEveryday ended well and I looked forward to seeing them the next day to continue the work. Clifton Muckenfuss would call everyday and talk to me as well as his crew. Then he would swing by late morning to see if they were lacking in anything. All the crew are very neat. They never smoke atleast I did not see any of them smoking and no cigerate buds around the place since I cannot smokers and such litters. That was a great blessing. I can say that God was looking out for me when I found Carolina Exterior Plus in the yellow pages. I had two other estimates. But when Clifton Muckenfuss came with his presentation I was very pleased. He did his homework so well and gave me references which made me very comfortable and I could trust him wholeheartedly. I would even go to him for recommendation if I need some other work done in the future. Either he will do it or atleast I know he will know someone trustworthy like him.
Description of Work: My house is 20 years old with L&P siding. Every outside walls have been warped with water because we only painted the house once since we built it in 1993. The cape cod windows, we have 3, were all damaged completely. They had to replace the whole thing. It is a one and one half storey house. So basically there was no salvage for the cape cod windows. The whole house was ripped out of the old L&P siding and replaced with Hardie Plank colour plus. So now there is no worry about painting again for the next 15 years. Some of the windows had water damage and they had to replace wood frames. But they did not seem to think they could not handle it. They came up with intelligent ideas to solve the problems in the least expensive way which mean't alot to me. So basically the change order was very minimal. My husband was impress with their due dilligence. I was amazed with their punctuality. They would come in the morning around 7:45am and wait for 15 minutes maybe have their breakfast in their truck and then start work right at 8am sharp. I never saw such punctuality in my life. Then at the end of the day they would clean up thoroughly before going home and you would not have known they worked there all day. They did not take long to finish the work. If it did not rain for one day on Wednesday of the first week and again rain on Thursday the next week, they would have completed the work in 9 days. At the end, the they walk you through to make sure they did not miss anything. That was nice. I was so happy that they work with such care and pride as if they were doing their own home. I must say I was blessed at the end of the day for having chosen Carolina Exterior Plus. Clifton Muckenfuss is a fabulous contractor. I would not hesitate for a minute to recommend him to anyone.

+ 3 moreWe are extremely happy with the work that Carolina's exterior plus did on our house. The house looks great. The work was done as scheduled. The workers were there every day on time, were very courteous and thorough with their work, and cleaned up each night. Clifton was very nice to work with, and sent us updates to the job each night, including pictures of the work done and what was scheduled for the next day. Any additions to the job due to issues that could not be foreseen in the initial estimate, such as wood rot under the existing siding, were pointed out to us and fully explained and costed before any additional work was done. Several alternatives were provided to address these types of problems. We think that Clifton and his entire crew showed a lot of honesty and integrity in doing the job, and were looking out for our best interest in the renovations being done to our home. We would look to Carolina Exteriors to do any work in the future to our home and highly recommend them for any exterior renovations.

+ 3 moreAll employees were very professional and timely. Cliff did an excellent job keeping me in the loop with the overall progress as well as timing and costs. Our work site was kept clean (which the neighbors appreciated) and the crews did a good job with their equipment and supplies (I live on a small street with limited parking). We didn't really have any changes during our construction but would recommend getting those to the GC as soon as possible as I've had experiences with this in the past. Great experience overall.

Professional, knowledgeable and treated one like a customer who mattered. Work started on time with crews who could answer any questions one had. They worked hard , despite some difficult weather conditions and did a daily clean up of the site. Daily one saw the owner of the company who also each night sent a progress report with photographs and detailed any additional work found and discussed with during the day. Lines of communication were always open and the most important factor was that the company wanted a satisfied customer.

The work started with a complete power wash. Then, the siding and carpentry team was out working on the house for two days and did a great job and also did a good cleanup when completed. The exterior painting team was out working for three days and also did a great job and good cleanup. Carolina Exterior Plus then followed up to make sure that I was completely satisfied before payment. They are a very professional organization and very responsive to the customer and I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

We had another contractor that we felt could do the vinyl siding well at a more reasonable price. Had we chosen to go with hardiplank siding, we would have used Carolina Exteriors. We weren’t displeased with them; they were good to work with. I would consider using them for another service if we ever had the need.

+ -1 moreI hired Carolina Exteriors Plus to replace the old masonite siding on our home. I was extremely pleased with their knowledge of Hardieplank siding, but also thankful for their recommendation to install the new Color Plus (pre-painted) siding. The fact that the Color Plus siding comes with a 15 year warranty on the paint was enough to convince us to go with their recommendation. They also replaced all the corner boards, soffit and fascia (all trim) with Hardieplank Color Plus trim. I was pleased that the owner and/or project manager was on-site and involved from start to finish. I work mostly from home and was happy to see their crews show up early and work late, with little interruption and therefore completed our project in a timely manner. Their professionalism and attention to detail were remarkable. I'm truly glad they were referred to us by family friends. I would happily recommend Carolina exteriors Plus to anyone considering to renovate the exterior of their home.
