Provider was prompt in responding to my scheduling request, but informed me that Creedmoor is outside their service area. I would not hire them "again" as they do not service my area.

The services were performed as described and the technician was professional. What shocked me was the quote. The technician practically ran out of the house when I questioned him and relayed the price of parts as I understood them. $1,900 to replace a $400 part, $985 to replace a $240 part, $504 for some miscellaneous cleaning??? I'm not saying don't use them, but I'm not going to. If price is no object for you or you just don't have a choice, feel free, but buyer beware.

My name is Eddie Blanchard, the owner and President of 72 Degrees Heating & Air and I’d like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Heat exchangers rarely fail but unfortunately, when they do, they cannot be repaired. Because the heat exchanger is at the center of the furnace, nearly the whole furnace must be disassembled. The most costly part of replacing a heat exchanger is the labor and that’s the primary reason it is rarely done. Often, the best solution is to replace the whole furnace with a right-sized furnace. When you add up utility rebates, tax credits, factory rebates, and the energy savings of a properly sized furnace, a furnace replacement can actually be cheaper than repairing the old furnace. Our customers are very important to us and I’d like to extend my offer to do whatever I can to renew your trust in my company. Please call our office for my personal cell phone number and I will be more than happy to speak with you about the cost of parts and labor associated with this work. Thank you.

My every interaction with this company is positive. During my regular maintenance service last spring, the technician explained that my upstairs heat pump had a slow coolant leak and was of sufficient age that a replacement would be advised. He suggested I monitor the unit over the summer and keep tabs on the power consumption. Not long after I switched to heating in the fall, the heat pump started using auxiliary heat mode constantly, and I decided to replace the unit. I wanted the company to do the work because I was very satisfied with the replacement of my downstairs heat pump they had done the previous year. I had a preliminary meeting when we discussed the various options and costs. I appreciated the cost benefit analysis and I was able to select the system thanks to the detailed explanations provided. The installation was started the next week. The install was very difficult because the access to the attic was through a second floor pull down stairway. The team arrived early and stayed late to accomplish the job in one day. They were particularly careful not to damage anything while moving the heavy equipment in and out, and were very meticulous about cleaning up afterwards. I did experience a minor glitch with a downstairs thermostat a few days later, but it was quickly fixed.

I used a prepaid coupon (approx. $32) for the service. Since my system is old and uses the old freon system for cooling, I figured that I would be told that I needed a new heat pump, so I had put off having the problem checked. The technician arrived promptly at the appointed time and found that the problem was simply a wire that had come unattached. He was very professional from the time he arrived until he left and he also checked the thermostat and air vents in the house to be sure that the air was cooling properly before he left. He explained that I would probably need a new system at some point in the near future and offered to have someone come out to discuss a quote, but I said that I would wait and see how it cooled with the reconnected wire. The system worked fine throughout the rest of the summer, so I was glad to have only paid ~$32 for the service coupon. I was very happy with the professional service and the fact that he did not try to push me for a potential sale for a new system unless I was ready for it. I will definitely plan to use 72 Degrees again.

We feel 72 degrees did an excellent job installing two new HVAC units. Johnny who did the appraisal and estimate took great care in explaining the new HVAC technology and the options available to us. Once we decided to use them the appointment was set up quickly and professionally. A guy came out the day before installation to inspect what needed to be done. The installation was done in two days, the installation people were all professional and skilled at the process. There was a small issue with the AC being a little to powerful, 72 degrees quickly sent someone to turn it down a bit. The follow up was also excellent in setting up the inspection and getting our $600 rebate from Duke energy. Very high quality organization that we'll use again.

There were missed calls and appointments, there were install issues. Three weeks after the install there is still outstanding work to e completed. The owner called back and referenced the bad review I gave and stated intention to make it right, which includes finishing outstanding work and providing 2 years of annual maintenance at no cost. He also tells me that issues with the crew did the work have been addressed. The new system does work well, and it does cool the back side of our house much better than before. The main run that feeds the back side of the house was upsized and that made all the difference. The install issues that have been addressed have been addressed to my satisfaction. For now I think a C rating is fair for the entire experience, but that may be subject to change in the future. That really depends on how the company handles future interactions -- how well they address the remaining issues and how they handle annual maintenance over the next two years.

Hello Mr. [Member name removed], After a busy hot weekend, I believe your service call was scheduled that Sunday for the very next day in a timeframe of 2:00-4:00, and our senior technician Kenny arrived at 4:30. Sometimes these windows of time can be pushed back slightly when appointments are scheduled later in the business day.Being that it was already 4:30 when Kenny arrived, he could not confirm upon diagnosing the broken compressor if it was still covered by a manufacture's warranty since he was unable to call the parts house after 5:00. Kenny advised that you change the unit's breakers as they were undersized and causing the system to trip. we offered to return the next day to fix the compressor once we knew if the cost of that expensive part was under warranty or not - in an effort to save you money. I guess you elected to replace the breakers yourself, and decided to go with another company to fix he compressor that night. Had we been given an opportunity to return the next day, we would have matched the pricing you received elsewhere with our apples to apples guarantee. I'm happy to hear you found our technician to be friendly and professional, and would love to have an opportunity to provide you with top notch service should HVAC issues arise again. Thank you for your business. In Comfort, Eddie Blanchard Owner & GM of 72 Degrees

Excellent service and competitive price. On first visit, tech recommend that I not charge compressor with Freon due to high cost. I went ahead with it because I had not decided to replace unit. Owner gave some credit for the Freon. I paid for visit through Angie's list. Also given reasonable finance options. System earned $300 Duke credit with high efficiency technology. Feel the market value of the home increased and saving on electric bill, average $53 ;/ month. Turnkey job finished in one morning.

The diagnostic appt. was scheduled promptly after I purchased through Angie's List and called the company as the Angie's List rep advised me to do. On the date of the appt. I rec'd a text that the tech was on the way; Johnny arrived on time and was professional and conversational in terms of my system and needs. He recommended a service appt. for both units and because of my concerns and his explanations and professionalism, I agreed to have him return for a service/tune up of both units. In my presence, he called his office and scheduled for Friday, August 7. The receipt for the diagnostic also listed the appt. date/time. Unfortunately, on Friday, Aug. 7, Johnny never arrived and I never received any kind of communication from him or the company. I emailed the service appt. address info I had and to date have not received any communication from this company since Johnny left the diagnostic appt. earlier that week. To say I was highly disappointed and frustrated is an understatement. Despite the positive experience and impression I had from the diagnostic appt. with Johnny, I cannot rate above an F because of the failed service appt. and no follow-up for an explanation, apology, offer to address, etc. I did indicate in my email that because of the "no show" and no communication I would choose another provider; I still would think a reputable company would offer an apology.

Dispatcher was professional and scheduled a technician to come to our home within 24 hours of our initial call. Technician was on time (received text and phone call prior to arrival), professional, and did a very thorough job diagnosing the issue with our system on a very hot day. Explained the issue clearly, what needed to be done and that a part would have to be ordered. Dispatcher called to advise part was in and our system was repaired on the 3rd business day after the initial service call. It has been 3 weeks later and our air conditioning system is working great.

72 Degree was absolutely great. The general service call was as expected but what I really appreciated was all they did to work with me on why the fan motor seemed to be running rough. My concern was that I had a motor that was about to burn out and with work travel and an elderly dog with advanced heart disease, having my A/C at risk at a time when I possibly couldn't address it on an urgent basis was making me very nervous. They worked closely with me to resolve the issue (turned out to be an old exhaust fan that was unrelated to the A/C at all). But what I really appreciated was their willingness to figure out a solution if the A/C crashed and I needed an intervention on an urgent basis, up to loaning me a window unit to keep my dog's living space cool as needed. I also appreciated that they were willing to be on call to repair the unit if needed but did not rush me to an expensive repair prematurely. I had access to both the technician and the owner as needed. I left an after-hours call with the answering service when I wasn't sure what was happening that was returned by the owner within an hour. The technician (Kenny) was also knowledgeable and had good advice about resolving the issue.

We have called the provider repeatedly and tried to order replacement filters for the A/C system that they installed. Only the answering system responds to the call. We have been unable to talk with anyone who actually works there. The answering system was unable to give us any details on how to get in touch with 72 Degrees. When we purchased their system several years ago, we were told that they would do inspections of it twice yearly in the Sprng and Fall. They do not do this. We have been unable to make appointments for this service which was guaranteed to us at the time of purchase. When we originally purchased it and had problems, it appeared that a different person came every time, owners changed and mistakes had been made in the installation. We had not gotten the features that we had paid for. Eventually, the A/C system was repaired and put in correctly. Since then we have been unable to get any service from 72 Degrees.

See above. The boss at the company did agree to provide a check of my system, but now that I fixed it myself, I don't need him.
Description of Work: Nothing. As I was leaving work early for a 4 pm appointment with 72 degrees as purchased through Angies List to check on my not functional a/c I recieved a call from the service tech that he couldn't meet me at assigned time as he was still working on another customer's system. Ok that isn't totally unusual; he told me that he would call me around 5pm and let me know when to expect him. Not hearing from technician by 7pm, I left for dinner with a friend. At ~7:20 I received a call from him stating that he was on the way. I told him no one is at the house and his failure to communicate with me was rude and unprofessional. I went onto YouTube and watched a DIY series on a/c diagnosis and repair. Diagnosing the problem as a blown capacitor, I spent one more hot night without a/c due to the fact that the industry doesn't want us to fix our own problems . The owner of 72 degrees refused to sell me the part, and couldn't get a technician there until a day or two.I was refused the sale of capacitor because I had no a/c license! I found a source on computer and next day picked up part and installed it. Works great now! I understand that the industry wants to keep us safe as these systems run at 440 volts, but this service company provided me no service!, plus he has my money for doing nothing

We sincerely apologize for this member's experience. We work very hard to try and stick to our scheduling windows. His was from 4-6 PM, but even with a 2 hour window, technicians can still be late. This particular technician was at customer's home fixing their HVAC system. The customer had 2 young children, 1 an infant, and we were able to fix their AC problem on site then. In the effort of keeping this family's children safe and healthy, the technician continued to work on their system until it was finished. Knowing that he would be late for his next appointment, the technician had called this member to let him know he would be delayed. Unfortunately, that delay turned out to be a long one, but we think this member would have appreciated the delay if we were fixing his AC system. The technician's job is very challenging, hazardous, and is often times performed in hot attics, and dark crawlspaces, where they may not be able to use their cell phone for their own safety. When he actually did finish and call, only an hour and 20 minutes after the arrival window, this member was out to dinner. We were willing to work as late as would have taken to take care of this member's situation, but he had gone to dinner and decided to tell our technician his opinion rather than meeting him at his property. Also, regarding the refused sale of a capacitor. This is of course, due to safety. We will not take the risk by selling a part to customer to work on a system that they are not licensed to work on. Should anything bad had happened, we would feel horrible and would be liable, therefore we do not sell parts to customers. Again, we regret how the situation played out and wish we could have provided our great service to this member. We have learned from this experience and value the feedback.

Service personnel came and checked heat-pump and auxiliary system in our cond. . The project coordinator , Taylor O'Brien ,was awesome. He answered any questions I had and was very knowledgable. If he didn't know the answer, he made sure he found out for me. Service came and check heat pump and auxiliary system. He determined that we need several parts for HVAC and auxiliary unit. The owner came out and discussed a new unit. This is a local company. He was a little pushy. I also had estimates from ARS, a larger company. ARS had better warranty and I felt would be around a long time to honor their warranty. We used ARS and they have been outstanding in their service.
Description of Work: The provider came to diagnose why the unit in the condo was not able to provide a higher temperature than 62 degrees.

Went well. They weren't supposed to show until 6pm, but they got to us at 3pm. Fee was $135 for an afterhours appointment, which was fine because it was HOT. To schedule the service, I had to call 72 Degrees' answering service, who then left a message at the main office. The response was quick, though (but apparently the answering service misspelled much of my address and name). We made an appointment for the following day. Kenny came out and arrived right on time, and was very friendly. He quickly discovered the frozen coil and quite a bit of debris in the unit. He immediately diagnosed it as a leaking coil and said it was not worth replacing or refilling given the age of my unit (13 years). The visit at that point switched from a diagnosis to a sales pitch. After hearing all the options on new units (Kenny was very knowledgeable about the various options) and getting a quote, I said I would need to think about it. After the coil thawed, I noticed a great deal of debris right up against it. I cleared that out on my own, and my A/C worked normally again. I still definitely need to repair the duct work to keep more debris from coming in, but I'm not confident about the diagnosis of a leak. No pressure test or further investigation was done. I also called another company to get a second quote on a new unit, and they were lower by over 10%. I was disappointed with 72 Degrees' financing options as well, and was strongly encouraged to go with a 144-month 9.99% option, which would have been 41% again the cost of the unit. Another company offered much better financing options, including some 0% options. If I do end up deciding to purchase a new unit, I will not use 72 Degrees.
Description of Work: I had issues with my A/C intermittently not blowing air after the first hour or so of operation, as well as some torn duct work. Kenny checked the thermostat to make sure it was functional, then opened up the gas pack and noticed the A/C coil completely frozen. He quickly diagnosed it as a leaking coil and went under the house to confirm that two ducts needed to be replaced. He gave me explanations of a new system and 72Degree's financing options.

Dear Mr. [Removed member name], While it is great to hear you found our service to be prompt and professional and that your system was easily repaired, I'm sorry to learn the financing options for replacement of the aging equipment did not meet your needs. We do have a local price match guarantee, and I'm sure that our expert technician Kenny's diagnosis was on point. It is true that most systems will need to be replaced after 10-12 years, and we known that purchase is one of the biggest decisions a homeowner has to make on their home. That is why we do a price match guarantee. Pricing from HVAC companies varies according to the type of equipment, guarantees and options offered, as can also vary due to company size. That said, please call again and ask for me personally to discuss pricing options. We are always on the hunt for competitive financing companies, and would love to install your new system with the quality service you already experienced. Thank You, Eddie Blanchard Owner & GM of 72 Degrees

Diagnosis on Thursday afternoon. Returned with parts on Friday afternoon. Arrived within 30 minutes of estimate both days. Was surprised to see a second truck arrive Friday. His freon pump wasn't working and a supervisor had brought him another one. Repair was supposed to be 3-4 hours (everything in the unit is pulled out to replace the compressor). Was still under 4 hours with the problem pump. I had not used 72 Degrees before. The tech did ask for 50% down the first day. After reading the reviews I wasn't worried but I did use a credit card knowing I could contest the charge if the company didn't return. They did not charge for the actual compressor which is about $500, they filed that claim and gave us the paperwork to register our new surge protector.
Description of Work: Our 8yo compressor wiring had melted. We still had two years on our parts warranty and Kenny processed our claim for a new compressor. Also recommended a surge protector!

The first really hot day after we moved into our new home and the air conditioner did not work. On recommendation from Angies list we contacted 72 Degrees Heating and Air. Their technician, Enus Dunn, was very knowledgeable, diagnosed the problem and had the air conditioner running very quickly. He was extremely courteous and used booties inside. He informed us of the rotted condition of the pad under the outside unit, which appeared to be set on the original wood packing from the delivery carton. The new pad was installed a couple of days after the air conditioner was fixed. It was raining and everything was muddy. He did not track any dirt into my house. My husband is a former HVAC technician who specialized in oil heat and commented afterwards that Enus is a professional, which is really high praise, coming from him. Enus never tried to sell us anything that my husband felt was not needed, we did agree to a service contract., which we feel is very reasonable. If all of 72 Degrees Heating technicians are like Enus, we recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Got got air conditioner running satisfactorily, installed a compressor savor in the outside unit. Removed old rotted wooden pad under outside unit and installed a proper new outdoor unit pad.
