Response from 72 Degrees Heating & Air Conditioning
Hello Mr. [Member Name Removed] My name is Eddie Blanchard, and I am the proud owner of 72 Degrees. I can assure you that our technician used the proper tools in order to diagnose your system's issues. I believe after a complete and thorough diagnostic, he determined you need to replace the motor and gave you two price points - we always try to ensure customers have as many options as possible. The first prices $1,537 for an OEM motor, or just $870 for a Standard Motor. Unfortunately, your aging system uses R22 Freon which is being phased out at the end of next year, and this is why Johnny discussed the option of replacing your system. In 2017, the government wants all of these systems to be updated or replaced. We realize it is not always possible for clients to replace a new system, but wanted to present that information to you in case you decided to replace rather than bear the expense of a costly repair this year, then a replacement within the next two. As far as you taking matters into your own hands to repair the unit yourself, it seems you would have had to find a licensed contractor to buy the part, as a normal consumer would be able to order one from a supplier without possessing a mechanical license from the State of North Carolina. That said, some ethics may have been crossed allowing this to occur, and with your upmost safety and the efficiency of your system our concern, we always urge clients to allow a professional to do the job right. That said, should you have any issues in the future, I hope you'll consider calling the office and asking to speak to me directly in order to go over all repair options, and ensure you get a fair price when work is needed again. Thank You, Eddie Blanchard, Owner & GM of 72 Degrees
