We rent our home, so do not have extensive knowledge of the house/unit and service that has been provided before. Upon initial exam, the tech became a bit hostile and asked who we'd had out to look at the unit before him. I explained that we were tenants and were only aware of the prior repair which had been done while we lived in the home. He calmed down and documented some concerns he had with prior work that he felt had been done incorrectly, and we did have him complete the necessary work to the system. We currently need work done on our AC system, and when I called them today, was told they are unable to come out until the end of June (6 weeks from now). Feels like we've been unofficially fired from their business. I would expected a more professional approach, and courteous behavior. I would not recommend, nor will I contact them again.

They were terrible the whole time. Even though they were trying to be nice to me. I could see through it, just as plain as day. I knew what their purpose was. As a christian. I was going to be nice back. I never was ugly to them. I give you business, I expect you to deliver it. They did keep coming back. I was persistent. They didn't like this woman, saying get back here, get your mess together. This is 72 degrees, how can I make you smile. You can make me smile by doing the right thing. They would come out when I called, but I dreaded them coming out. I will give you credit where credit is due. They did show up when they said they would. I said to send a different person, since I had so much trouble. That person would say Joe wouldn't do it right, Sam didn't do it right, Charles didn't do it right. Every time they sent a different person, they would fuss about the previous person's work. They weren't competent. I said for here forth, I wanted one person to come, to communicate. There were so many coming and going. I asked for continuity. One guy came, and another came, and I called, asked if Charles coming. He said, no Aaron coming. I asked for Charles. I told Aaron, that I'm sorry, to please send Charles. There was a couple black people, couple white people, and Aaron was the black man, and they going to thing I was racist, cause I asked for Charles. This was my eight years with them. There is so much racism. If I lived in Africa right now, and operated in Nairobi, and Kenya. If I give my money to these children, for clean water. Its nothing to do with racism, just wanted continuity.

I am very sorry for all of the confusion. We work with thousands of customers and we had become complacent. We have completely revamped our office and service department so that this kind of thing will not happen any more. We are working hard to be the best in the industry when it comes to customer service. Please give us a chance to make this right. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I traded our HVAC, upstairs and downstairs, two units, its been a few years ago. They came in, and it was one disaster after the another. I documented everything. The worst part is, after they left, I had to go back in and change several things. Including the copper wiring in the house. It didn't the copper wiring didn't accommodated it. That was extra. They wanted to work on it for all the copper, and I said no, I'm keeping the copper. I gave it to a guy down on his luck, and had a little girl, and he could recycle it, and get a little cash for it. The worst thing is, when one of their person comes out to check it, it was worse, than it was when they first came. I dreaded maintenance checks. What had happen is one of their men came out, and he,shortly after it was installed. He did something, and walked downstairs with the unit, whatever its call. He is carrying the thing, and I asked what he was doing. He said it needed changing out. I just purchased that. He said it needed changing out. He took the one that they just installed, and set it on my step. I took a picture of it, while he went to his truck for the new one. I though this was really shady. Come to find out, he installed an older one, called dirty socks syndrome. My whole house smelled terrible. In the whole system.Up and downstairs. I had to turn around and get someone to check it. Most people don't know about it, and said it was the dirty socks syndrome. That man got fired, because he told me the truth. He also went to the owner, which was Blanchard. Told Blanchard what had happened. I spoke with Blanchard, and one of his men. They came to try to work it out, but then I had to installed uv lights on both units. Those lights are six hundred dollars each. When the things come on, because of the dirty socks syndrome, the bacteria gets in my house, and the light zaps it. I had to come up with six hundred times two, because there is two units, one upstairs, and one downstairs, every three years. Twelve hundred dollars for my home. They tried to be very nice there. They knew they had messed up, and they fired the man who took it out. By that time, it was so much mess going on, and I was frustrated. The man came and said everything was going to be ok. I called him back, because I was smelling the smell. They installed it backwards. The light hadn't even been working. When I called him back, he said I have been the pain in his a.., since day one. I do not say that word. That is what that man said to me. I was appalled. I wrote up a letter, that he isn't allowed on my property ever. This went on for about two to three years. It was hell on earth. The way that they shut me down is, when you called to complain is, you don't even have an maintenance agreement. I said I was told every time that they came, I was under the maintenance agreement. They were twisting my behind. They just said that because they knew that I could sue them. They were so nice to me, trying to work it out, bla bla bla. When I called him, he said I had a hundred thousand dollar job, and you call me out of the office, to complain about your little house. I would have never ever used him. Never would have called him. The guy who owns it, Eddie Blanchard and the guy who worked for him, I can't remember, and he the one who came in my house, and he cussed me out. As a christian, I called him, and I was ready to report it, and said are you ready to apologize to me,for the way you treated me as your customer. He said he has no idea what you are talking about. I said ok. I was trying to give him a chance.

72 Degrees responded to our request to diagnose and repair our heat pump. The heat pump was under warranty for the main repair, and we also had the technician, Kenny, repair other parts that were not running as efficiently as possible. The parts were ordered and the repairs performed as soon as possible. Additionally, we had problems with air quality in our home because we live on a heavily wooded lot and the air coming from the heat pump smelled like mildew at times during the year. Kenny suggested we install a UV light, which we did. We also contracted with 72 Degrees to come out twice a year and check our system to keep it running at its best.
Description of Work: Our heat pump was not working correctly and was tripping a breaker.

They had done some maintenance 3 months beforehand where they made some modifications to the air duct system for our upstairs heating and air conditioning system and they did kind of normal maintenance at that time as well. Then they had to come back in July because there was a problem and they decided not to charge us for the problem because they said they should have caught that the first time. It was additional air duct work where they modified the air duct system up in the attic to improve the flow of ventilation.

Price must have been okay. It was a year ago, they were very responsive, I do remember that. It was always a pleasure, not only responsive, but they showed up on time. I appreciate that. They did it well and I thought they were efficient at what they did. Told me everything was fine, which was a great thing. So, because I didn’t have a problem that they had to address, it’s a little hard to say what they would do under a repair circumstance.

Hello [Member Name Removed], I'm sorry to hear you went with another contractor to replace your inducer motor, and hope you found our team to be prompt, professional and appreciate their accurate diagnosis. Hopefully the company you went with did a thorough job and the system is now up and running again. We did send an email with our diagnostic invoice attached, but perhaps it went to your spam folder. We will be happy to resend upon request. If you experience any issues with the system in the future, we would like to have another opportunity to price match competitive quotes and prove why we are an A-rated, award winning company in the Triangle. Very pleased, Ennis was a great technician. He quickly determined the cause of our issue and got the part ordered. They utilize a calling service so played a little phone tag. I got a quicker response by leaving a message than using their web-based request system. I will certainly call them this spring to give our cooling systems an evaluation.

I was very pleased with the knowledge of the HAVAC systems from the team. They presented several choices of systems that were appropriate for my home size. Other vendors tried to sell me something that was more than what we needed at considerably greater expense. They were great at answering questions and communicating the status of the order and installation.

Hello Mrs. [Member Name Removed], We truly appreciate your business, and are happy to hear you were pleased from the sales process to completed installation. It is always surprising to hear when other HVAC companies suggest equipment or repairs that aren't the perfect fit for a customer's home as this results in costly issues and call backs. We look forward to working with you to ensure your system runs efficiently and provides a cost savings on your power bill for years to come. Thank You, Eddie Blanchard Owner & GM of 72 Degrees

Response from 72 Degrees Heating & Air Conditioning
Hello Mrs, [Member Name Removed], Below are details on the complex history we have with you. We installed a new system on December 1, 2014. Since then, you have asked us repeatedly to come to your house to do things like change out your filters, which is normally done by the client themselves, and fix things that did not need to be fixed. On June 30, 2016 you called to complain that we weren't changing your filters, and that you wanted the full price of your system refunded. Upon this call, we of course offered to graciously change the filters for you as needed, but you have to purchase those filters. You chose not to do this and thought you shouldn't py anything for our services or the filters. I don't know of ANY HVAC company that provides free filters for their customers for the life of a system. Just like purchasing a car, you are partly responsible, along with us, in maintaining the system. Since you were upset by not getting something for free, you made a complaint one;ine at this time that She your unit was installed incorrectly, and again asked for a complete refund on the system. We assured you that we would fix the system if anything was wrong with it (for free as it was under warranty) but the fact is the unit was installed per manufacture specs and properly permitted and inspected by the Town of Cary. The current complaint made last month states again that the system was installed improperly and is currently not working, and you would now like an increased $5,800 refund. The facts regarding this complaint are as follows: on 11/12/16 a call for service was placed by you stating your system was not working. 72 Degrees responded by sending a technician out to diagnose the system. The technician found a bad part on the unit which had to be ordered from our distributor Virginia Air in Raleigh. Because our technician responded to this call on Saturday the distributor was not open and the part was not able to be ordered until Monday. The representative at Virginia Air informed us that it would be 5 business days before we could receive the requested part, which would have been 11-18-16. Knowing that this would be quite some time for the system to be down, at no fault of our own, we decided it would be best to provide you with space heaters to use. When our technician went by the house to drop off the space heaters he noted that another HVAC contractor was working on the system. We know this as the other company was on site when our technician arrived. The part needed for your system came one business day ahead of schedule, and we called to make the needed repair earlier. You told our office manager that you did not want us to make the repair, nor did you want us back at the house, and another contractor had fixed the problem. You called us for service, we responded and ordered the part immediately, and went above and beyond to provide you with prompt service as soon as the part arrived, and provided space heaters for your comfort in the meantime. When we finally received the part and tried to make arrangements to fix the unit, you refused the repairs and said it had been fixed by another contractor. This system was properly installed and passed a city inspection and has worked properly since the date of install in 2014 until last month. We have tried repeatedly to meet your requests, and to keep you happy. I'm sorry you feel a need to blast us online due to your misunderstanding of our contract, and your frustration. Sincerely, Eddie Blanchard Owner & GM of 72 Degrees

We love this company! This isn't the first time we've hired them to replace a unit for us (different house in Raleigh), and our experience was so good the first time, they are our go-to phone call whenever we have heating/air needs. We had a new HVAC installed, along with a heat pump that will help us be more efficient with our propane usage. Eddie (the owner) personally came out to our house to give us the proposals, and educate us as to what we would need to accomplish our goals. We have found their pricing to be competitive, and have never worked with an HVAC company with more integrity and dedication to customers. They perform work quickly, and take care to keep our home clean while they work (which is important to us, since we have toddlers in the house). We definitely recommend 72Degrees to anyone looking for exceptional service.

There were some unexpected wrinkles during installation, which was not completed on the first visit. We did have air conditioning though, and 72 Degrees was exceptionally responsive and professional in resolving the few remaining details. Their customer service is among the best I have ever experienced from the office staff to the technicians to the owner that came out after hours to present a bid. As a former small business owner I can tell you that this level of customer service is very difficult to maintain across an organization. I am very satisfied with their equipment and service. I highly recommend them.

We interviewed with 3 companies and by far Eddie and his team out weighed the others. Instead of just looking to do a quick change out of units. They made several changes to the original installation as a whole and explained how the changes would benefit us. I could write a really long review explaining all the benefits and the differences I found between these three heating and cooling companies. However, I will just said if you are looking for a heating and cooling company to do it right and be more than competitive just give 72 Degrees a call and ask for Eddie. See for yourself the difference this company will make over the others and you will see what we did. We made the right decision and I know you will too. The installers were great to work with and worked a very long day to ensure we had the comfort back in our home before leaving. First class company all the way!!! Thanks so much to everyone!!!

I set up appointments with 4 contractors to get a bid on a new system. Eddie showed up right on time and looked at the entire system. He was the only person who counted ducts in the house. We discussed options for new systems and pros and cons for each. He was also the only one not to give me a price on the spot from a list. He wanted to do a load calculation on my house to make sure the size was right. Received his prices as promised. After discussing them I decided on which system I wanted. I had a second bid for the same system but it did not have the detail of the bid I got from 72 degrees. Once I was able to get a detailed bid I worked with both companies to make sure I was getting apples for apples. This resulted in the second company having to provide upgraded add on accessories to match 72 degrees. The final bids had the second company being $300 less. I am sure Eddie would have agreed to match the price but the second company was offering 0% financing which 72 degrees could not match. The bid I got from 72 degrees was the correct option for my house from the start and without it I would never have gotten the proper solution. I also add that Eddie was very responsive to phone calls and emails. I am confident he would have done a great job if the financing was right.

Hello [Member Name Removed]! Thank you so much for taking time to post this review. Although we didn't yet install the system, it's great to know you found value in the detailed options provided upon our first meeting. Unfortunately, there are many HVAC contractors who don't take the time to ensure a new system is sized and installed properly, which results in many additional service calls to the owner later. We pride ourselves on being highly trained professionals who get the job done right the first time. If a customer isn't 100% satisfied, or if there is a glitch in the equipment installed, we respond immediately. I hope to be able to work with you again in the future, and would love to be your go-to company for regular maintenance. Thank you again for the opportunity! Most Sincerely, Eddie Blanchard, Owner & Gm of 72 Degrees
