Our Mission at Handyman House Techs is to provide affordable home repair and remodeling services that exceed our customers expectations. We perform all types of home repairs, and we always provide free estimates. As a commitment to each community we serve and our customers, our business is registered, licensed, insured and bonded. Cost is determined by the job.
Description of Work: I've hired Handyman House Techs for several projects on my home ranging from $1500.00 to $65,000.00. The service technician who worked on the largest series of projects was superb. He was always on time. He shopped around and got the best deals on supplies and materials. He had great customer service skills and explained the steps and processes to me, and made great suggestions for how to complete some of the projects within budget. We don't live in a perfect world, and HHT also has a mechanism in place for when the homeowners' project does not go according to plan. Regardless, this company makes good on the finished product to insure customer satisfaction. I've learned that I can always count on them.

Description of Work: They came out to repair an outside switch that didn’t work. They did not know how to make the repair, were totally incompetent and not prepared to fix what was needed and tried to push unnecessary service such as remodeling work. We needed to wait for them both for the estimate appointment and when they came out for the work. They did refund the $125 but I would not use them again.

The whole experience was a good one from beginning to end. After calling in for an estimate a return call came quickly and I was matched with a handyman who was experienced with this sort of repair. Mike D. came out the very next morning, was promptly on time, very professional and knowledegble. He reviewed all the work needed, gave some excellent advice and supplied me with an estimate for materials and labor that beat my two previous ones from other sources by better than 50%. After I agreed with the estimate and signed the contract he went and purchased the needed materials and got right to work on the job having it completed not only well, but timely. Mike D reviewed all work with me upon completion to make sure I was pleased before I paid him. Needless to say I was very pleased. I have much work to do on my home as I am still chipping away at some remaining exterior Katrina repairs and modifications. I will without a doubt retain this company again and highly recommend them to others looking for skilled, professional and timely workers. This was my first experience with this company and I found them here, on Angie's list. What a relief to know who to call to get things done not only with pride in workmanship but without breaking the bank! Thanks Angie's List, Handyman House Techs and to their awesome worker: Mike D.!

Joshua Grainger came the day before and looked everything over and gave me an estimate. It wasn't nearly what I thought it would be. He was very thorough when he checked the leak on my roof. He showed me exactly where it was leaking and throughly explained what he could do to fix it. The appointment was promptly scheduled for the next day. Joshua showed up exactly when they said he would and did a great job repairing everything. He even moved the furniture that needed to be moved and cleaned up after himself. He did a great job finishing the patch in my ceiling. It looks like it wasn't ever there. The other repairs he did look just as good. Joshua was was courteous, prompt and professional. The total cost even came is about $20-$25 less then the estimate and he showed me his receipts for materials that were purchased. Sherry was also very professional and helpful. My overall experience with Handyman Tech was very good. I will be using them again.
Description of Work: My roof was leaking, I had a patch in the ceiling in my family room that needed to be finished and a small hole in the wall that needed to be fixed.

I had about a week to get this done before the quarts company was to come out to measure the fresh surfaces. The electric got done- 3 lamps with a switch, and 5 outlets- and the cabinets were installed. Unfortunately, I had to go back to work out of state and was not there for the end. That was the only thing that was fully finished, and I payed in full. (I did have the lights flutter and the handyman did stop by to fix that) I did hire more work help me get the kitchen ready for the countertops. I got a call from the quarts counter top company (who had to drive from out of state themselves) were not able to measure because the cabinets were not level- by a lot, none of them. MUST put in here that my house is almost 100 years old, and is not level or flush itself! But with around 100 ft2 of counter top nothing was level. I later found out that I would have to pay to get them to come back out, $250.00. With my work schedule, it was months before my kitchen was countertoped. (even now it is not complete- but I will do the finish work myself!) I did hire a plumber to finish installing the bar sink around the middle of April- the HHT fellow did run some lines but they had to be completely redone, at least that is what the plumber said, but I don't know about that, could me a matter of opinion. The lines to the dishwasher were never run and I moved the stove electrical line to the new location. HHT has called a couple of times, unfortunately, I have been away from my house A LOT with my work and have been finding new issues every time I look around. (Infact I just found a leak in some new plumbing, but I have a feeling that was the plumbers I got out here last month. I fixed it myself.) I guess all in all, I wanted some help me in tools and knowledge- because I was in a time crunch. I really should give HHT another shot, and maybe I will, a 100 year old house has plenty need for a handyman and am more then willing to pay for a professional, as I know that I am not! But as I look back on my kitchen, the labor does not reflect the money I spent. After all the hired help, I have spent near $4,000.
Description of Work: While at work out of state I was called to give a report- this is to accompany that report now that I have my paperwork in front of me. I called HHT to get my kitchen ready to have quarts counter tops measured and installed for a kitchen re due. I wanted to expand my kitchen and move a poorly placed stove out of a corner into a new fabricated peninsula. The fellow sent out was very nice, had a full compliment of tools, and let me know he has been doing this for a while. I was given an estimate of $1295.00 to 1. install and reposition Kitchen Cab to owners spec. 2. Install plumbing for bar sink and dishwasher 3. Install new circute (110) with split 20 amp breakers 4. Install 220 range plug + extend to new location 5. pull existing counter and reset for owner

I called and the company itself was very nice but the handyman that they sent out was not very good at all. The countertop people had to come twice because the cabinets were not level. These were simple, easy cabinets. He cost me about $300 because I had to schedule a secondary appointment. His quotes were way too low and he was pretty slow. I probably could have done everything myself and gotten a better result. I?m sure they have a lot of great people working for them but the one they sent me was bad. I won?t be using this company again because of that.
Description of Work: Handyman House Techs were supposed to install cabinets in my house which is almost 100 years old so I could get some countertops installed. He also installed some lighting and that sort of thing.

I contacted Handyman House Tech in March. I had never dealt with this company or for that fact I had never heard of them. As most people, I was a little weary of hiring a contractor. Let me add, I'm a female (some knowledge of house building) . They were very nice and responded promptly. Shortly after phoning the office they called me to inform that had a handyman available for an estimate. They gave me his name (Ed Berlin) and the color of his vehicle, from the beginning no surprises. The handyman (Ed) they sent was very knowledgeable and presented himself in a very professional manner. Ed came in and I showed him the room I wanted re-done. It was a room that needed a lot of work. I told him what I wanted and I guess he could vision it because he was very open to my description of the work I wanted. When I couldn't decide on something he gave me options to think about. He made some measurement, and was on his way. He came back after the office had figured the estimated. Like I had said before I know a little about housebuilding and had a figured in mind that I would be comfortable with. Well low and behold the estimate was pretty close to what I had in mind. After deciding I would do my own wall texture and painting, he re-did the figures and I hired them. Ed started almost right away. They had an estimate of the materials (I went over on that through my own shopping). Ed worked by him self. I was very impressed with his work ethics. He was very precised with his work. He had next to no waste with his tile cutting. He was almost perfect with his material estimate. There was no surprises. Ed kept his work area clean inside and out. I actually can't say enough nice things about this company and Ed. I would contact them again and I have already recommend them to friends and family. After Ed was finished the office called me for my comments on the work performed. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong calling these guys. They are very customer oriented. A+.

The day I called for estimate the sent someone with in hours of my call. The price was fair and did not change. When Josh started the job he stayed at it till it was finish . He work hard to make sure we were happy with the job.
Jerry Tiblier was fantastic. He determined quickly why we had a small roof leak in the hallway in front of our furnace. He immediately went on the roof and made the repairs for one tenth the cost of what another roofer had quoted for us. The other estimate wanted to redo all the "faulty" vents on the roof...but Jerry said all the others were installed just fine. He saved us a lot of money! He wanted to return after it rained that night...and it was a hard rain... to make sure it did not leak again. When he returned he also patched the fixed the peeling ceiling and duplicated the "popcorn" finish perfectly and painted it for us. He also removed old and broken shower door enclosures, hauled them away and hung up a new shower curtain rod. I had bought the shower curtain to install ourselves...but Jerry offered to hang the curtain himself. I would certainly call upon him to do future handyman repairs. He also had a friendly and kind personality.
Description of Work: Jerry Tiblier diagnosed why we had a roof leak in the hallway. He fixed the flashing around the vent that was causing the leak and checked all the other roof vents. Then he repaired the peeling ceiling, duplicated the "popcorn" finish, and painted the repair. He removed old, malfunctiioning glass shower door enclosures and hauled them away. He caulked the old screw holes left on the shower wall. He hung a new shower curtain rod and even installed the new shower curtain.
I contacted Handyman House Techs, LLC on 12/4/2009 regarding a laundry list of work that I needed done. They were very courteous and eager to help. They came out promptly on 12/5/2009 to review the repairs and provided an estimate/contract on the spot. We contacted them on 12/7/2009 indicated that we were ready to sign the contract and someone came out immediately to provide a list of items that needed to be purchased to make the repairs. They began working on the repairs on 12/9/2009 and completed by 12/14/2009.

I called Handyman House Techs (they actually answered the phone) to see if someone could come look at my roof one evening after 3:30 when my husband was home and they got one of their Techs to come the same day. Wow! The next morning before the Tech could do the job he had to search for the matching shingles. He ended up having to go to 3 stores before he found them.(and by the way they only charged me what they paid for the materials!) The Tech completed the job, cleaned up the mess and even fed my dogs lunch. Very pleasant and professional Technician. Great Job!!

I purchased a new french door for the back to replace the original door put in when the house was built which would blow open during a storm unless the deadblock was locked (creating a few moments of terror when my house cat escaped). I unfortunately had the french door installed by "the friend of a brother of a co-worker who worked construction". Needless to say the finished job was horrible. The door was not plumb or level, it was stuck closed. The door did not match up to rug inside the house leaving a good half inch to inch of exposed concrete slab. Orange foam was used to insulate around the door and attempt to provide upward support to the door, and no internal trim. Granted the trim would have only made it pretty, but still not functioning. I hemmed and hawed for almost 4 weeks before searching for a contractor to fix the mess. I had done something foolish and was worried I would have to deal with a chastising, demeaning tone of voice while I got lectured about hiring non professionals. When I first emailed I asked if they provided free estimates in writting (they do), if they normally handled the deconstruction as well as the construction (they do), if they serviced my area (I live in the middle of the country, and they do), and if they promised not to make fun of me (they did). When I called to schedule my estimate I expected to have to wait a week or so, after all it's free so why would they rush. They offered to come out the following day! I had to put them off until the beginning of the next week. When Don came out to give my estimate he was very thorough in explaining what was wrong with the instillation and what would be required to repair each flawed part. He did an excellent job of explaining that cost of purchased material would be the exact cost with no additional fees, that he needed to call to confirm the labor estimate, and that at any time during his work the main office would be used to coordinate communications. He was able to start and finish the next day. He was also very nice to my pets. After Don left from the estimate Sherri from the office called to ask if I was happy with Don's estimate and his professionalism. I most certainly was. I don't know if Don had any problems, I wasn't home when he did his work. I do know that I came home to a beautiful instillation. This instillation was better than the original door that was put in when the house was built. The door swings open when pulled (better than the amatuer instillation of the french door) and clicks shut when closed (better than the original door). The door is matched up to rug inside the house - no concrete slab peeking through! The trim is so well placed you have to actively look for the seams at the corners. My house was spotless. No dust, no scraps, no wood chips. The deck was also cleaner than when I left it that morning. I wish I had before and after photos, but I was not about to memorialize the before. I am so pleased with the work I will be calling them first for any house repair.
Description of Work: I had a french door reinstalled. The external trim was removed, the support hardware was removed, the door and frame was removed, the unneccessary orange insulation foam was scraped off the floor. The door was rehung, completely plumb and level, and opens and closes beautifully. External trim was replaced and new internal trim was purchased and installed to cover the damage done by the initial installation service.
