Josh of R&R Remodeling contacted me within 24 hours. He came the next day to measure and draw up possible options for the deck. 2 days later he returned with the plans and approx cost (depending on type of material used). I had had several bids for the same work and R & R Remodeling's bid was right on target. He explained each process of what would be done, approximate start date, payment schedule. I signed the contract and was told construction would start within 6 weeks. Bob contacted me a week later and said they thought they could fit me in sooner and would start the following week. John and Sam arrived exactly when promised and did an outstanding job. They explained each step of construction and answered all questions. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend this company. John and Sam were a joy to work with. All county inspections passed without a hitch. I would give R&R Remodeling an A+.

Met with salesman for bid on 7/07/2014. Due to work backlog, they could not start my project for approx. 10 weeks. Started tear out and rebuild on 9/18/2014. Mix up on city inspector review appt. delayed continuation for 2 days. Project finished 9/29/2014. Very pleased with completed project. All employees I dealt with were very pleasant and easy to work with. R & R was chosen for the perceived quality of their work and end product. I believe I got what I was looking for.

STOP right here if you are looking for a contractor to construct a new deck. We contacted R & R Remodeling on Thursday to request a bid for a new deck, and we received a phone call the very next day setting up a time for the estimate. The estimate we were given was in the price range of other contractors, but after being shown a deck they had built at another home, we felt comfortable in hiring R & R for the job. Bob Mertens was a dream to work with, and was extremely professional. We set a date for the project to begin, and sure enough, Jeremy and Brian showed up bright and early to start. These two guys did a fabulous job, checking with us when needed, always with a smile. ( Jeremy even sings as he works, which told me that both men enjoyed their work. ) It actually snowed the day they were finishing up, but they worked through it and completed the deck on time. We even made a change in color for our steps while they were working, and Bob explained that it would not be a problem. Our new deck is beautiful. We love everything about it. The only downside is that the deck is so well constructed, it will be a while before we can use their services again.

they got us a bid and design and within about 3 weeks they started the deck. They did a wonderful job. Josh gave us the design and bid. Bob took care of the permits quickly. The materials were delivered. John and Greg did a terrific job building the deck. They were so nice and considerate. Just a wonderful deck. Our neighbor told us he has deck envy now. It is a beautiful deck and has features we didn't even think of like lights and lights on the steps.

The design was a perfect fit for our house. The estimate was for a stick built room with 6" walls and beams. The screening provided wide open ventilation above the 2' high base wall. From the time we signed a contract to the completion everything went perfectly. The crew was great and stopped to answer questions. Even the neighbors commented on the quality of the work being performed. I would recommend them to anyone considering a screen room. We priced several others and are so happy with the result. We have had other screen rooms, in other houses, that were all aluminum and this is much more substantial. The final product is perfectly integrated into the existing structure. As one neighbor said "it looks like it was original to the house". Several of our neighbors have said they will call R and R for estimates. The will be glad they did.

We had been debating building a sun room for several years and had spoken to R&R several times and also spoke to several other companies about our project. We wanted to build a 2 story sun room with windows on the top (off our living room for a 4 season room) and a screened in room downstairs (from our walkout basement). We decided to go with R&R because we liked the plan they put together and the price. They started on the project in January and finished the end of February. They worked through one of our hardest winters with lots of snow. They did an amazing job getting everything just right and even made a couple changes that we wanted after they completed the plans. Everything looks like it has always been a part of our home and our neighbors have nothing but compliments. We are very pleased with their workmanship and enjoy every evening in our new room. We highly recommend you give these guys a call and give them a shot at doing your project - we are so glad we did!

Was having a pool built, wanted a pergola and our landscaper (Frisella -who i would also highly recommend) we were using recommended Bob to us. Bob came out within a couple of days to give me a quote on a pergola and helped me to design the look we were going for. There were many projects going on in the backyard and scheduling of when and who should be there was a little complicated. All of the sudden I needed the posts put in for the pergola so another contractor could complete another project. I had communicated to Bob that we were not in a rush - and then all the sudden I needed them to show up. I called Bob in a panic and he promptly got his team out to place the posts for us. When we were ready for them to complete the pergola, we scheduled a date. That morning it was snowing slightly and I figured that no way someone was going to show up to build the pergola. To my surprise, Jason and Terry showed up, spent long hours and built the pergola in two days in the freezing cold. I couldn't be happier with the Pergola, their work is amazing. Was just at the home show and none of the other pergolas they had there compared - except the one they built for Frisella nursery. I also had been wanting to replace our wood deck with a composite deck, but was going to put it off until later. However, because of their work on the Pergola, I asked Bob to quote me a price and he helped me to design it and figure out what we needed. Again - can't say enough about their workmanship, their attention to detail, very personable. Jason and Terry built the deck again in the freezing cold during the month of December. It is absolutely beautiful. I really can't say enough about Bob and his team. i would highly recommend them to anyone. i will definitely use them again.

Tim Donley came to our house and after listening and looking at what we wanted done, he started taking some measurements and drew up a diagram of what the deck would look like and offered suggestions on various options. He was very nice to talk with, not pushy, and was very helpful and it was a pleasure to work with him. He also went with me to view some other decks his company had finished, so that I could see the quality of the work that R&R performs. I was please with what I saw. After our 1st meeting he explained that he would need to discuss the engineering of the deck with his partners because of the radius and round fiber glass columns we wanted used to make the deck look Victorian. We met again to discuss some other changes that needed to be made to accommodate the look we wanted. I can?t thank them enough on how beautiful this deck turned out. It just amazing as you?ll see in the pictures. We have had so many complements on this beautiful maintenance free deck from neighbors, family and friends, it exceeded our expectation. John and Greg did all the work and we were overwhelmed with their attention to detail. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding. They were both very polite and always willing to answer and questions we had. R&R should be very proud to have two dedicated workers like them. I could go on and on, but the pictures will tell the story.. This was not your normal deck. Despite cold weather, John and Greg worked long hours. Any lunch time taken was appropriate time-wise. The project went incredibly well. The crews were scheduled properly and appeared on the job in a very timely manner. Nothing was left in our yard at the end of the project. The crews kept everything as neat as possible while still working. Any item not done exactly as needed for County Inspection was immediately corrected. All materials used were high quality. We went with the recommendations (our choices of course) of the professional owner of the company who was quite knowledgeable regarding all aspects of our job! . There was no down time on this job. Despite cold weather, the crews worked long hours. Any lunch time taken was appropriate time-wise. We would definitely use R&R Remodeling for any of our needs again. Tim Donley came to my house and after listening to want I wanted done and looking at the house, he drew up a diagram of what the deck would look like and offered suggestions on various options. He was very nice to talk with, not pushy, and was very helpful and it was a pleasure to work with him. He explained how much everything would cost and gave me a bid right then. John and Greg did the actual work of building the deck, which was 10 feet by 14 feet, made of Fiberon composite materials, it is 7 feet above the ground and has a staircase with a gate at the top of the stairs. They also removed the old wood staircase to a porch and the broken concrete pad it was sitting on, and installed a new concrete pad and a new staircase made of the same fiberon composite materials as the deck. In addition, they removed the old door and stormdoor leading to the deck and installed a new door and stormdoor. John and Greg were wonderful, very friendly and they did a fantastic job. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding. Everyone who has seen it, comments on how great it looks.

The overall project went great. All work was performed as originally stated. If we ran into an issue that wasn't anticipated, they took care of it without a hassle. The workers on site were very knowledgeable and detailed.. They took the time to make sure every thing was done professionally without cutting corners. They cleaned up after themselves as the work progressed. They took care to make sure that my wife and I was satisfied with their work and the end product. The sub-contractors that they use for certain specialty items were also very detailed, knowledgeable and helpful. We are very pleased with the work performed by R & R Remodeling and highly recommend them.

This was the biggest project we have ever hired out for and we are very pleased with Bob, his crew, our new deck and screened porch. The job was estimated to take 3 weeks and it was completed on time. There were no back orders, delays, or any issues that came up. Bob was hands on overseeing the project throughout the three weeks. We were impressed with the crew - they were prompt and professional the entire time. I would highly recommend R&R Remodeling to my friends and family!

The whole process was good from start to finish. Brian was part of the crew and was excellent to work with. They finished the job on time and cleaned up after themselves, My deck is beautiful and have had a lot of complements. Also They give you a lifetime workmanship warranty which I just used , after a year the concrete pad they poured for the steps had a crack and Brian just came back and removed the section and poured another and again left the job site spotless when he left. I would recommend this company to anyone. Thank you for a job well done.

Bob made the entire process painless and his men did excellent work while always prompt and respectful of us and all property. Honestly, the hardest part of the process was picking out a new deck rail color because we were using a different rail product than before. I had begun the warranty process a few years ago when small cracks appeared on some decking, but process was onerous and it was put off. As more issues surfaced (Evergrain had a bad batch years ago), I again contacted Evergrain (Tamko) and they had added written estimates for labor and materials in addition to previous photos, forms, etc. I found R&R because Bob M. had responded to an Evergrain warranty question on a message board, assuring the individual that Tamko would stand behind its product. I then checked Angie's List and he had a very good rating. All went VERY smooth from the first phone call. He was used to working with Evergrain/Tamko and took all necessary photos and we filled out the forms. In about a month?, I received the warranty check. Bob got his crew out soon after. He and his crew made all go well and we are very pleased.

My only criticism is in our initial meeting. Tim (part owner) wanted us to commit to R&R before we had all the specifics in a formal proposal to look at and review. Considering the reputation of this company plus their reviews with the BBB and Angie's List, I was a little dismayed by this. In the end, we did choose R&R and are extremely pleased with the results. Once we committed to R&R we were contacted by Bob (the other owner) on how the job would be managed. Bob's attention to detail and communication with us throughout the construction process was great. The crew of Terry and Jason are certainly very skilled construction workers. The quality of their work was excellent. If there was a problem they were very helpful at detailing the options I had to resolve the issue. This certainly aided us in getting a new deck we really enjoy. We surely would not have any problem in recommending this company for a new deck or remodeling. They truly value customer service and show it.

They teamed up with another gentleman to do the concrete work and he was a disaster. He wasn't really part of R & R but they had teamed up at the time. They were a package deal. The end result was that he dropped the other guy and continued to work on his own. Initially it was not a good fit but he made it work. It was tainted by the other guy but they stepped up to the plate and made it right. The workmanship was fine. They made some mistakes and they caught them and corrected them immediately. They stuck to their word and did everything we asked of them. We would probably not use them again.

I hired R&R after several bids with other contractors that were outrageous. The crew arrived on time and completed the job in one day. Aside from looking 100 times better, the deck and stairs feel more solid and sturdy. I recommend R&R Remodeling and will hire them for future home improvements.

Update: 10/8/12 R&R built a deck for me and they did a great job. Bob Mertens was in charge of the work and a crew of two professionals including his brother delivered high quality work. they were friendly, punctual, and took pride in their work. It was very clear that they knew what they were doing. I would always recommend them for your deck.

I met the owners at the St. Louis Home Show. After getting several estimates (all over my affordability) R&R helped me get a new deck within my price range. After hearing their proposal, we were able to work together to get a deck I was happy with (some compromises) and stay within my budget. They were the only company I met with who was willing to make changes to help me. During construction the workers were professional and on task, no loitering or messing around, and picked up all construction "trash" when the job was over. Even after 14 months, the deck still looks awesome. They also educated us in the proper care of our new deck to help it stay beautiful. They were attentive to our needs and concerns, stayed in contact with us, and made us very comfortable with such a large project.

Owner (we presume) was very nice and actually really good in his craft (I have no doubt they are great at what they do). After the repair, the boards moved again and the materials were the issue. Once the boards again moved, we called and emailed R&R, but our calls or e-mail(s) were not returned after the repair. We got the impression perhaps there was nothing more they could do, and that was the reality. They were 100% correct in that the problem was with the materials.

Job went very well with no problems at all.
