Dan responded quickly to our first request for a bid, and scheduled a meeting a few days later. He showed up on time and was thorough when discussing our needs, while offering alternative suggestions as well. Dan followed up promptly in a face-to-face meeting with a full detailed proposal and provided prints based on exactly what we requested. Every item was lined out in his proposal, and he was extremely flexible in options offered. Price was competitive, and when we ultimately decided to go with a "friend of a friend" as an alternative contractor, he was incredible gracious and understanding. I would highly recommend Dan Weber Construction due to the extreme professionalism we experienced, and will definitely consider his company for future projects.

Dan was very responsive and easy to contact with questions or concerns. He and his crew were on time and showed up when they said they would. The work was done well by Dan and all of the sub contractors. All the debris was cleaned up at the end of the work day. The bathroom came out just as I planned and looks great! I would definitely use Dan Weber and his crew again when I am ready for more updates in my home

A basement remodel is a very BIG project and not one that you should take lightly. From the very beginning of our contact with Dan Weber, he was EXTREMELY professional. He came out to our home during a time that was convenient for us and listened to what our specifications were. He came back promptly with floor plans based on our verbal specifications. Changes to the floor plans were discussed and Dan came back again promptly with the updates. Dan was really willing to please and wanted our business. I'd also like to emphasize that for me, Dan had the qualities I was looking for in a contractor. He was professional, reliable, quick to respond to my calls/texts/emails and prompt. When Dan said he would be there at 7 a.m., he would be there by 7 a.m. or he'd give a call to let me know he was on his way. Dan provided us a project timeline so that we could be prepared when certain materials needed to be available (i.e. bathroom materials, flooring, sinks and refrigerator for the wet bar, insulation, etc.). This helped us prioritize the material purchases and storage of the materials especially given the temporary loss of storage space (since it's a basement remodel). Dan clearly set expectations before, during and after the project. His communication skills are polished and he takes the time to understand the customer and make sure the customer is happy. Dan wants his customers to be happy, even after the project is finished. We had a small issue with the laminate flooring over a month after the project was completed. I called Dan to talk the issue over with him. Dan assured me not to worry. He came out promptly to inspect the flooring and within two days, the flooring issue was resolved. This says a lot about Dan's character, his work ethic and his desire to truly take care of his customers.

Dan was very professional, easy to work with, and really took his time to sit down with us to understand what we were looking for. We couldn't be any happier with the final result. Dan and his team exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for the best general contractor in the local area, in our view.
Description of Work: Dan and his team finished our basement. Construction consisted of the following work: framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, trim and doors, flooring, and the installation of cabinetry, fixtures, and a ventilation system. When the project was completed, we had a beautiful media room, guest bedroom, full bathroom, exercise room, and kitchenette.

Dan Weber sat down with us and asked what we wanted. He listened to fully understand what we were looking to do and then he provided all the details that exceeded our dreams. We now have a basement we are proud to show off--we have canned lights in the ceiling that look great and provide a lot of light, the new drywall ceiling which he was able to work around our HVAC system is superb, he hand crafted a beautiful column and half wall around one of the exposed basement support pillars that make me wish I had more exposed pillars for him to modify. The new flooring looks great and is exactly what we were hoping for. Dan is very easy to work with as we had changes during the project and instead of being frustrated, he listened to what we wanted and he made the necessary adjustments to ensure we were happy with the project. Dan provided excellent communication with us throughout the project; always telling us when he would return the next day and he was ALWAYS on-time. Dan and his crew really take the time to ensure a perfect job is done and that we, the customer, are satisfied with what is being done. To show how accommodating he is, I asked for something completely off the contract, if he would install a storm door in front of our front door. To stay on schedule with the main project, he came in on a Sunday to install the door! Unbelievable service. I can't say enough about the quality of Dan's work and the fair pricing he offers. He is simply a joy to work with and I highly recommend him for any project.
Description of Work: This was a complete remodel of the basement. Construction consisted of teardown and removal of 1970's style paneling and drop ceiling, removal of two walls, all flooring and installation of new fixtures in half bath (toilet and new vanity). We now have beautiful walls, ceiling and flooring...our basement is crown jewel of our house.

From bid to completion Dan and his team were easy to work with and did what they said they would do. I liked how his bid included building materials but fixtures and tile were my own selection so I could control (or exceed) my budget as I saw fit. Dan is very conscientious and involved me in the process to ensure I was satisfied with the final outcome - something you can't find in just any contractor. The end product was amazing - a total transformation and I have to say his tile work is just awesome! Wish I could share photos so you can see for yourself! Thanks to Dan and his team Cory and Chuck....can't wait to work together again soon!

The first thing we would say to anyone looking for construction work is to talk with Dan Weber. He is a working owner who cares passionately about his service. We found Dan based on Angie's .List reviews. There is a good reason he is so highly rated - he is excellent. My wife and I cannot say enough positive about Dan and his crew. From the estimate to the completion if his work, which included several change orders, we are well-pleased. The work was performed correctly the first time. His crew was respectful of our home, and they took great strides to protect the house as they moved materials in and out. His team was professional. Now that the room and bathroom are complete, we have already hired him to complete the last unfinished room in the house. Dan is honest caring and he delivers on promises.

Do not use this company! We had used Dan Weber Construction approximately 3 years ago for a large tiling project and everything went very well. The two employees were professional, meticulous and tidy. When we met with Dan Weber, the company owner, early this spring, we mentioned how pleased we had been with the work done by his employees last time. Dan told us that the employees no longer worked for him, but that we need not be concerned because, in his words, the quality of the work would not suffer. Dan told us that he was not only an experienced tiler, but also a plumber and electricianl. We received the bid shortly after our meeting via e-mail and signed and returned the contract. In advance of Dan's arrival, we purchased all of the tiles, grout, faucets, lighting and cabinets. Dan's quote covered labor, cement board for the tub walls and floors, thin set, copper piping and baseboards. Work began approximately three weeks later. The job was plagued with problems from the beginning. Dan did not take any steps to cover our floors to prevent dirt and damage throughout the home. Following the installation of the bath tubs, I had to request that Dan cover up the tubs to prevent them from becoming scratched and damaged while the plumbing and tile work was being performed. Dan began tiling around the bath tub in my daughter's room and it was evident both from seeing the workmanship and from Dan's words that this was not going well. The subway tiles, which were to be installed in a brick pattern, were unevenly spaced so that lines were not straight. In addition, cuts were made with a hand cutter rather than a wet saw so that many of the cut ends were jagged. When I checked in to see how the installation was proceeding, Dan reported that he was experiencing a bit of a learning curve with these tiles. I was shocked to hear him say this given that rectangular subway tiles are one of the more common tiles used. It was only after we expressed our concern over the tile installation that Dan said he would remove some of the tiles and re-install new ones so that they would be better aligned and smoothly cut. I had initially planned to use a grey grout to make the white subway tiles pop. However, due to the poor installation, I made the decision to change the grout color to white as it would help to minimize Dan's tile work. While the quality of the tile installation improved marginally after that, it was still mediocre at best. Dan's work resulted in the use of many more tiles than should have been required. My husband and I became concerned when we saw Dan and his employees grouting shortly after installing the tiles. My husband asked Dan directly as to whether he should be grouting so soon after setting the tiles. We had always read that newly laid tiles should set for 24 hours before they are grouted. Dan replied that the thin sets used today can be grouted over as soon as one hour after tile installation. Later that evening, we found the thin set and grout bags that Dan had been using. On both bags were instructions that grout should not be applied until tiles have set for 24 hours! We do not know how this will impact the durability of the tile work over the long term. We had purchased two styles of shower heads for all three bathrooms and decided to have one style installed rather than the other. When I went to locate the NEW unused shower heads, Dan told me they were probably taken to the dump by one of his employees. No apology was offered, nor did Dan offer to compensate us for the loss. The renovation is now complete although we had to call him back twice to remedy problems. The first call back was to repair a leak in the brand new custom wood vanity in one of the bathrooms. Due to the poor plumbing work, the cabinet suffered water damage after only one day of use. The second call back was for a ceiling fan/light unit he installed, but was not operating properly. We wish we had never utilized Dan Weber Construction or at the very least, stopped the renovation process as soon as it became evident that Dan did not have the ability to complete it in a professional manner.

Response from Dan Weber General Construction LLC
TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY - First let me say to those reading Mrs. [member name removed]’s review, please do not stop at this review and look at the 92 “A” reviews that I have received, that have also earned me the “Super Service Award” for the last four years, before passing judgment on my company. I am an experienced tiler and it is irrelevant who did or currently works for me now. Mrs. [member name removed]’s reference that I told her I was a plumber and electrician is incorrect. Yes we can and do install faucets, shower heads, set vanity/vanity sinks which can be done by most homeowners and does not require a plumber. Yes we can and do change out a light fixture or electrical outlets/switches, which can be done by most homeowners and does not require an electrician. On ALL of our jobs that require plumbing or electrical work, outside the scope of that noted above, we hire licensed, insured sub-contractors for that work and it is inspected by the local governing City/County. As to “dirt and damage” throughout the home … we always, and did in this case as well, used drop clothes and plastic to minimize the dirt. It would be unreasonable to think that we would cover every area in the home. We make every effort to limit the dust and dirt and we always clean up after ourselves every time we leave the work site. This is a construction work site which does generate dust and dirt. As to the “unevenly spaced lines” the tile they purchased came in 12” x 12” netted sheets with the tiles already adhered to the netting. The spacing between the tiles on the netted sheets was very inconsistent making our job much harder trying to match up the lines and keep them level. Ergo the “learning curve” statement by me she refers to since we are accustom to setting each tile individually. The inconsistencies in spacing, and even the variance in tile thickness, are very common when lower grade product is used. As to covering the bathtub, we were met at the door first think in the morning with this request so Mrs. [member name removed] had no idea as to whether we had planned to cover the bathtub, which we were planning on doing, as we always do. As to some of the uneven cuts, we knew those would have to be replaced and had every intention of doing so, prior to grouting; however, with daily and sometimes hourly inspections by the homeowner, it was assumed by them that we did not intend to replace those few tiles. Our practice, prior to grouting, is to do a very close and complete inspection of all the laid tiles. Then if some need to be replaced, we mark them and replace them all at one time. As to some of the derogatory remarks made about me, while I adamantly disagree with the remarks, I chose to not denigrate the [member name removed]’s by responding to them. As to “grouting so soon after setting the tiles”, we used a product called Quik-Set on the floor tiles that allows for grouting within hours of laying the tile. Just because the [member name removed]’s did not find “Quik-Set bag” for the Quik-Set does not mean we did not use it nor did anything wrong. As to the missing shower heads. The [member name removed]’s purchased shower fixtures, which includes all parts, including shower heads. They did not like the shower heads that came with the package and purchased new shower heads only to be used with the initially purchased shower fixture package. The shower heads that came with the package could not be returned as they were not purchased separately and were part of a package, part of which was used. Therefore, it is likely, as she stated that they were discarded. We did have two call backs that we addressed immediately. The leak, to the off the rack vanity. As a matter of practice, we run the water for an extended period of time when setting new vanities and fixtures to make sure there are no leaks, which we did not find at installation. The second call back again was responded to immediately and found that a wire had come loose, probably with use and vibration, and it was fixed. I take great pride in my company and all the we have accomplished and I am sad that the [member name removed]’s are disappointed but I bent over backwards to try and address every concern or complaint they had but unfortunately, nothing I did was going to make them happy. And early on they wanted me to reduce my price by about 1/3 of the original quote which they signed and agreed to. I did reduce the price substantially BUT not because I thought we were in anyway wrong. I felt that was the only way I would get paid anything on the final 1/3 due me. To view pictures of finished product, please see [member name removed] Gallery in our media section.

Dan Weber and his team did a wonderful job with our remodel. He first did some work last fall replacing our patio door and fixing some water damage on the front of our house and did a really nice job. We brought him back to put in wood floors, ceramic tile, crown molding and shadow boxes in the dining room, tile shower in the master bath and some plumbing work. He always returned my calls right away and was friendly and professional. He and his employee, Cory, made me laugh every time I was around them, which proved to me an ability to do a great job while still having some fun. Dan addressed every concern with immediate attention and made it a priority to make sure I was a satisfied customer. I read some of his negative reviews this year, and I hope the reader notices it had nothing to do with his quality and everything to do with lack of response. As I said, he responded to all of my calls immediately.

We were very pleased with our overall experience with Dan Weber Construction. Dan and his crew were informative and friendly throughout the process. We received a bid to remove the wall between our kitchen and dining room and frame in the opening. The price was reasonable and last minute we decided to add on the removal of several large mirrors in the foyer. Dan was accommodating of this request and gave us a great price on the additional work. The crew left the house clean and in good condition and we are very satisfied with the quality of work. We will certainly be using Dan Weber Construction for future projects.

We were looking for a bid to remodel our master bathroom. So I contacted Dan Weber and asked him if he would be interested to stop by to take a look at our bathroom and give us an estimate. Dan showed up on time (Sunday morning), and was very informative, listened to what we wanted to do, and told us he would provide us with an estimate. I asked specifically one more time if the job wasn't too small or too big for him, and he assured me it was just fine, that he would be happy to do the work, and asked us to allow him a little bit more time than usual to come up with a bid. I was expecting to receive something in a couple of weeks. After waiting for several weeks and not receiving anything, I decided to call Dan to check on a status. Left a voice mail asking him to call me back and let me know what to expect. Waited another week. No call back. Called him again. Again left a voice mail. Another month go by. No contact. I am just curious if Dan would ever come up with an explanation for this very unprofessional conduct. I have looked up some reviews of this company on Angie's List. They are mostly very positive. But there is one or two, where people complain never receiving a bid for the work. In cases like that Dan responded to critical review by saying delivery of his e-mail must have failed. Sure, it could be the case in my experience too, but why not to return my phone calls? It takes only a minute... By the way, if Dan finds a time to respond to this review, I don't think he needs to offer any kind of discount for his services like what happened in response to other bad review mentioned above. I will never consider using this company, even if the services are offered for free.

We initially contacted Dan in December and he came out and gave us an estimate. Since we had the materials--I had originally considered attempting this project myself, but decided it was beyond me and contacted Dan instead--he was charging for labor and was able to write up an estimate on the spot. Since it was already close to the holidays, we agreed to get back in touch after Christmas for scheduling. When we got back in touch, we scheduled for work to start on 1/5. He and his team showed up and got the ceiling fixed and spackled, the ductwork fixed and the new light installed on the first day. The additional time on later days was for getting the drywall joints sanded and recoated, and then another day for painting. All in all, a good experience. We've used Dan before and will contact him again in the future for other jobs.
Description of Work: Dan repaired the ceiling in one of the bathrooms where the damage had occurred to improper installation of the ductwork by a previous contractor, corrected the ductwork problem for the fans in two bathrooms (bringing them up to code), and replaced the problematic can lights with a new lighting fixture that we supplied.

We had a crack in our ceiling that turned out to be a cut truss in our roof. Dan and his helper came out and repaired the truss, then repainted the ceiling and recreated the attic access. The only reason I added two B ratings was because I had to call to have them come repaint the attic access--it wasn't done quite as well as it needed to be the first time. Otherwise, it was good work and I'd have them work for me again. Dan, especially is very courteous and responsive whenever I needed to call. Thanks! Thomas Baker

We were very pleased with our basement. Dan uses subcontractors for some of the jobs and they were all professional and seemed to do a good job. Dan always called if he was going to be late and did a good job communicating with me throughout the project. Like any job, it is important to communicate throughout on what your vision is to make sure your contractor understands that, so it is helpful to have someone so willing to communicate and make sure everyone is on the same page. We made a few tweaks to the job here and there, and Dan was always fair on his pricing on any changes we made. As for the project itself, everything was on budget based on the contract. Additionally, the job was completed on exactly the time frame that we were estimated, which included 3 holidays during that time, so we were pretty happy about that. We were pleased with the way the finishes all turned out. Everything looks nicely done and professionally completed. Dan did an especially good job building the surround and mantle for the fireplace. We would definitely hire him again and I am recommending him to all my friends who have work that they are needing done.

He was able to give us a written quote on the spot. We had bad weather on the day the work was scheduled. Dan phoned ahead to say he would be an hour late. They showed up on time and the job was a little more extensive than originally planned but they got all the work completed on time and cleaned up before the left. Sag is now eliminated! He also did it on budget quoted.
Description of Work: We had a sagging floor at one spot in our family room. Dan came in and correctly assessed the problem (joist installed upside down and nails missing the joist)!

Upon initial phone contact, Dan seemed very professional and we scheduled for him to come out to review the work I needed done....replacing existing casements in 3 entry ways and adding casement to another entry. Dan arrived on December 17, 2014 on time and we quickly got into the discussion on what I wanted done and he provided some additional possibilities to some of the issues I wanted corrected. Towards the end, I asked when I can expect a quote and Dan responded with, "We'll send it via email, but It might be a few days...my secretary is a grandmother and great-grandmother and sometimes this isn't her priority. If I sent you a quote, it would be in crayon." I passed this off as Dan's sense of humor but in the back of my mind was thinking why would you tell a potential client this? Nevertheless, we parted ways with the expectation that I would receive an estimate within a few days. A week went by and then another with no estimate. I attributed this to the holidays, vacation plans, etc. but was a bit miffed that I didn't receive any communication whatsoever. A simple email, call, or text saying that their holiday schedule put them behind would have been perfect. Finally, on January 6, 2015, I called Dan and recounted that I had him out 3 weeks prior to provide an estimate on my job and I had yet to receive a quote. I asked if he was interested in the job and if not, just let me know and I'll go another route. He said, "I'm interested and I guess you hadn't received a quote and that's why you're calling." I said that was the case and I again needed to know if he's interested in the work. He said, "Yes and I need to get with my secretary when I'm in the office tomorrow to find out why you and some others have fallen through the cracks. She's pro-bono....whatcha gonna do. You'll receive a quote tomorrow." As of this writing, I have yet to receive a quote. I'm disappointed in the lack of professionalism and responsiveness by Dan, who I had contacted based on the reviews here. In a service industry, referrals are the easiest and best ways to get business and it seems that my job just wasn't big enough for Dan. If this is the case, a simple communication stating that based on his work load, he just doesn't have the time to devote to my job would have been fine. However, I'd still scratch my head on anyone turning down work in an industry that ebbs and flows with the economy. If his secretary is truly at fault, he must understand that while she's "pro-bono," she's actually costing him money by alienating new clients and potential additional jobs and referrals.
Description of Work: I called Dan to schedule an estimate and he came out within a few days. Went over all work to be completed, seemed interested, but never received an estimate. Followed up almost 3 weeks later and was told to expect an estimate the following day...nothing.

Thought it was fine, but no estimate or even an explanation. Guess he didn't need the work.

Dan Weber Construction was a great company to work with. Dan came to our home a few days after first talking on the phone to do an estimate. Dan is super friendly and knowledgeable. He has a no pressure approach and he gave us honest advise about our project and what we were to expect from him and his employees. We got an estimate back about a week after meeting with him. Dan and his crew started our project on a Monday, and we were impressed with how quickly they got our job done - they were dont a week later. The first day they completely gutted the bathroom - they removed the vanity, shower, toilet, drywall and tile. Over the next week, they installed new drywall, a bathtub, tile, a vanity and toilet. Dan and his employees completed all the work except for taping the drywall - he has someone else he uses for that project, and painting (I did it to save some money). They arrived on time every day and left our home as clean as when they had arrived. During this project, a leak developed from our master bathroom shower. Dan noticed the water damage on our ceiling, and for a very small fee, he opened up the ceiling and fixed the plumbing problem that was causing the leak. Dan went above and beyond! We are very pleased with our bathroom - it looks amazing! We highly recommend Dan Weber Construction and will be contacting him for all our future projects.

This project exceeded our expectations. Installation was completed earlier than estimated and everyone was extremely professional and helpful. The floor is gorgeous. The gentlemen that installed the flooring, Mike went above and beyond, making sure to explain everything we needed to know. He even went as far as taping off sections of the floor so we would know where we could and could not walk. We will definitely recommend Dan and his crew to our friends and family.
