We’re at family owned and operated company and our values start with family. We want our customers to feel like family to us. We can help in all areas, indoor and outdoor. Any project, new or old, we are here to help. From decks and siding, to bathroom remodels and home repairs, to outdoor clean up, and everything in between.

"They came at the time they told me. Very punctual. They were prepared and ready to work as soon as they arrived. They knew exactly what they were doing. They installed the television bracket into my stone fireplace PERFECTLY. Caleb even pulled himself up several times, holding onto the bracket to reassure me that it is completely secure and not going anywhere. They placed my 75 inch television on the bracket with care and tilted it to my liking and secured it to the bracket. Then they installed a shelf underneath the television for my sound bar. They worked so professionally and in sync with each other, like a well oiled machine. Honestly, I could go on and on about these two men and their professional work. They had everything completely finished quickly and they were both so kind, so approachable and asked me if I had any questions before leaving. They even took the trash with them! I 100% recommend them and I will ABSOLUTELY be hiring them over and over. I have found my forever handymen."

Avalon Handyman Services is a locally owned and operated small business operating in the Branson area for over 15 years. We take pride in the work that we do and you are guaranteed to be satisfied with the quality of the work we do. Our business has been built on years of repeat clientele and we look forward to earning your business today and in the future. One thing I have found very important in this industry is the importance of follow up. We keep in constant contact before, during and after our work is complete.

"Needed a contractor that would handle a small renovation that involved removing an existing door and replacing it with a larger one and it proved to be a difficult task until I tried using Home Advisor. Almost immediately after posting the job, I was contacted by Brett Michel of Avalon Services. Within a few short days, he visited our home, surveyed the project, and provided a very reasonable estimate. A week later, he was on site to begin the task. Brett is extremely knowledgeable about home repairs, is meticulous in his work, and very considerate of his clients. The remodeling and repairs were done quickly and to perfection. I highly recommend Avalon Services for just about any home remodeling project without reservation."

"Would give 0 stars if I could. Would NOT recommend as a general contractor. I hired him for a 300 sq foot addition to my house. He subbed out the work to Robison construction. Robison construction did some demo work to remove some deck and a shed addition on the house where the addition was going. They were not good at cleaning the construction area when they left for the day. They piled insulation from the demo work in my current bathroom and left it there. Robison did the footing and stem wall for the addition. The problems with the stem wall were numerous. First it was only 6 inches wide for an exterior 6 inch wall, which could work, but on top of that it was 3 1/2 inches out of square per 3 other contractors that I had come look at it after Guth pulled out of my project. They put no horizontal rebar in the wall to tie into vertical rebar, per the men that actually poured the concrete. They pulled the forms off the wall withing 4 hours!! They lacked about 6 inches of getting the forms all the way to they existing house where it was tying in and so they used 2, 2" PVC pipes (one on each side) as forms tie it into the house. They removed one of the PVC pipes with the forms, but couldn't get the other one out. The sub had to cut the other one out. So where they used the PVC pipes as forms, the wall was only 4" thick tying into existing house. With so many issues with the foundation I told the general, Ryan Guth, that I wanted the foundation inspected before they built on it, because it had so many issues. When I told him that, he pulled out of my job, claiming hostility on my part and delays. After he pulled out and I had other contractors inspect the foundation, I asked Mr Guth to honor his warranty for the work that had been done. So he sent his sub out and the sub cosmetically fixed the area that was only 4" wide where it tied into my house with a bucket of some sort of cement mixture. I had given him 33% down for the entire project which was $13,860. When he pulled out, he gave me an itemized statement of the work that had been done and issued a refund of $165. He significantly inflated the price of the horrendous, substandard work that had been completed to keep most of my 33% down. His sub at one point when I was questioning him about the concrete work, actually lied straight to my face in front of the general. This general and the sub he used are dishonest and unethical and I would absolutely not recommend them."

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.

Handymen/contractors will charge anywhere from $50 to $175 per hour. The hourly rate is based upon their experience level, overhead costs, and the cost of living in that specific area. Many handymen/contractors will charge by the job.

There are major differences between professional handyman services and a “Chuck in a truck”. Professionals typically have over 10 years of experience, are background checked, bonded and insured. They arrive in clearly marked company vehicles, in uniform, and guarantee their workmanship. Credentials can be verified with google reviews and official websites. Rates for professionals often run between $120-$160 per hour. Many reputable companies will now offer fixed rate pricing based on the task or scope of work, no matter how long it takes to complete the work.

Answered by Scott Fuhrmann at Mr. Handyman of Olathe, Gardner in Olathe, KS on 01/06/25

Tipping a handyman is not a requirement or necessarily expected, as they should build a fair wage into the price of the job. However, some people will tip a handyman around $10 to $20 per hour or the equivalent of a day’s pay, depending on the size of the job. But it’s up to your discretion. There are no set rules for tipping a handyman service, but if they did a great job and you’re so inclined to tip, it’s encouraged and will likely be received with thanks.

A tip is not necessary. If you feel that a handyman did a great job for you, the best thing you can do for them is boost their reputation by leaving reviews on as many sites as possible and spreading by word of mouth how good they are. A tip is temporary but a reputation creates a business!

Answered by Brett Shaw at House Doctors of East Tulsa in Tulsa, OK on 01/07/25

Tipping is not a requirement, or even an expectation, but is appreciated by the technician when performing exceptional work. A good tip may be around 10% of the project cost. In addition to or instead of a tip, professional handymen appreciate 5-star google reviews and referrals to help them be found by more potential clients.

There are several questions or things to know before hiring a handyman to do any work in your home.

  • What kind of work do they do?

  • Do they have proper licensing?

  • Do they charge for estimates?

  • Is the estimate for both labor and materials?

  • Do they provide references?

  • Do you provide a guarantee?

  • When can you start and finish the job?

  • Do you have any before and after photos of your work?

  • How long have you been doing this kind of work?

  • Do you clean up and dispose of waste when the job is finished?

Is your company bonded and insured?

What is your warranty on service and materials?

Do you provide phone and/or on-site estimates?

Do you accept credit cards as form of payment?

Does your company offer financing for bigger projects?

Do you offer discounts for senior citizens/military (if applicable)?

Where can I see client reviews and samples of work?

Do you have any certifications or awards?

Answered by Scott Fuhrmann at Mr. Handyman of Olathe, Gardner in Olathe, KS on 01/06/25

If I encounter problems after you finish, will you return and fix your work?

What is and isn't covered in your project estimate?

Can you tell me the details of the work you plan on doing, from start to finish?

How long do you think it will take?

What hours can I expect to see you on my project?

Is your price a fixed price or hourly? If you encounter issues will the price change?

Answered by Derek Bredl at El Dorado Handyman Services in Placerville, CA on 01/13/25

Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.

Answered by Angi Experts

Being certified and/or licensed typically provides the customer with a level of comfort when hiring a handyman, but is not always a guarantee of quality work. Ask the handyman to explain what his or her process to complete your project is, and if you hire this person, check on the work, ask questions, make suggestions. After all, it's your project, your money, and you deserve quality work.

Answered by Leo Cleversley at Leo's Handyman Service in San Diego, CA on 01/07/25

Be aware that not every state requires or even provides a license for a handyman. Many handymen will not or cannot be licensed. If you want a general contractor, hire one (they will be licensed and bonded/insured). Understand what you usually get when you hire a handyman and it is NOT a general contractor.
