good communication throughout, via phone, e-mail and in person. The new roof looks great and they were on time, on budget, cleaned up everything, and even helped my neighbor with a dead battery in her car.

The repair man arrived on time, determined the location of the leak and repaired it promptly. He did not require payment. The company billed us promptly.

It went very well. They made a real effort, and finished even with bad weather.

Yes- very helpful with selecting shingle color, careful to cover light fixtures and other trim that could be damage. Removed and hauled away 2 large awnings at no extra. In spite of care taken, wood trim was nicked in a couple places.

The Company did an outstanding job on our roof project. Richard Ray met with me a day after I called to take a look at the roof. I received the bid promptly, providing good detail and clear options based on my requests. I was considering several options, including metal roofing, and the Company worked with me throughout the decision process. Our roof was very unique, so we had many discussions regarding how to best address my needs, but I knew from the initial meeting I could trust Rich and his team. When I signed the contract, Rich gave me a start date much earlier than I even expected, and the Company ended up being able to show up even a couple days before that target date. Derek, the foreman on the job, and all of his crew were great to work with. As mentioned, our roof had many issues, and Derek and his team kept us informed of all they encountered when removing the old roof. At a minimum, we received daily updates of where they stood on the project. All of their employees were quite courteous and were conscientious of my young family. I had a couple of requests as they were working on the house, and they were quick to address each of those requests. I think this is directly the result of the fact all of the guys working on the project were employees and not subcontractors. The new roof looks fantastic. It has taken the place of something that really was a burden on the whole house, and now it really adds alot to the look of our house. We are really happy with the results. The entire project took about 7 days, partially due to the uniqueness of our roof, but also because I believe these guys focus on doing the project right. All follow-up since the roof has been done has been very prompt and professional. I would recommend this Company to anyone, and already have to my family and friends.

Rich Ray arrived promptly to give me an estimate for a new roof. We also discussed a couple of gutters that needed replacing. His estimate was prompt and he followed up by a phone call. His estimate was higher than the other two estimates I received, so he discounted his price a bit, and I accepted his offer even though he was still a bit higher. I had used Richard's roofing before for a repair and knew the quality of their work, so didn't mind paying a little more. The roofing was started on April, and completed by April 29. A few days later another crew arrived and replaced the guttering. Everything went smoothly and the crew was great. I was surprised and delighted that it took them such a short time to remove the old roof and install the new. Clean up was wonderful, and I have yet to find any nails anywhere. New roof looks beautiful, and the gutters have made quite a difference too. Great experience and I recommend them highly.

Wonderful. Very professional, prompt, reasonably priced, only did/recommended what needed to be done. Other companies thought we'd need to replace roof. They did a minor repair to roof (approx $200) a year ago; we had them back to do other, unrelated repairs this year...they honored our estimate from Feb 2009 with a minor (5% price increase). Did some extra preventive work so we won't have these problems in the future. Work was beautiful/flawless. Would hire them again for any work in a heartbeat!

Professional, responsive, punctual, and excellent overall service -- are the best words to describe Richard's roofing team. Our roofing team was on time every day and even worked on a Sunday to finish the job due to weather reports. They carefully removed our old roof and made sure that our shrubs were not damaged in the process. They did not leave any part of the roof unprotected at any time during the installation. And they answered all of our questions thoroughly during the installation process. Our foremen and crew did an excellent job and attention was given to every detail. They cleaned up every day after they were finished. And we are very pleased with our new roof.

From start to finish this company was professional. Dealing with them was completely easy. The sales person was informative as were the workers. Richards does not use sub contractors. The folks who work on your job work for Richards. The employees are full time with benefits, paying into Social Security, etc. Everything is completely above board. This makes a big difference in the commitment of the workers, and it shows to the customer.

The crew was on time, walked me thru what they were doing each day and cleaned up when they were done. Service was better than expected. If I ever need another roof or if someone asks for a good roofing company, my only answer will be Richards Roofing.

The estimate and measuring process went smoothly. We had a written proposal in within a reasonable amount of time. While their proposal wasn't the least expensive, I had dealt with this company before and knew them to be reliable and do excellent quality work. The windows were ready when expected. The only small snag was a scheduling problem with the installer which caused what probably should have been a 1 day job to take 2 days. He apologized and explained the problem to us. It was a totally understandable situation. After the windows were installed, he took the time to fully explain the operation of the windows and how to care for them. We are quite happy with the quality of the windows.

We have an older house and they took out the double hung windows and put in casement windows and a picture window. The price is very reasonable and they did a good job. There is an incredible difference: without the dark double hung windows, we can really see more. Also, he suggested the bay window so that we could hang our stained glass side by side. It is quite impressive and so much nicer looking. I am so much happier with these windows and we talk about what a difference there is when it is cold out. I really like being able to wash them without having to climb on the outside of the building. The salesman was Kevin and he was great.

It went very well. Kevin came out and looked at the windows we wanted replaced. He took measurements and then sent us an estimate. Kevin was friendly and easy to work with. He answered all of our questions about windows and the 2009 energy tax credit. We got estimates from two other companies. Richard's roofing was more expensive that the other two but the windows were a bit better. Most important of all Richard's Roofing knew who would be installing our windows. The other companies seemed to contract out to different installers and I was a little worried about that. Instead of replacing 5 windows as orginally planned we decided to just replace three. Again Kevin was helpful, available and prompt in revising the estimate. Prior to ordering the windows Richard's Rooffing sent the installer (I think his name was Scott) out to measure the windows again. There was a bit of a delay with the window order at the factory so it took a while before our windows arrived. The only thing I didn't particularly like is that no one from Richard's Roofing called us to inform us that there was a delay. We were not in a hurry so it didn't matter but a call just to let us know would have been appreciated. When Scott came to install the windows he did a great job. I was most impressed in that he had us both look at and consider the outside area around the windows where, I think it is called a "wrap", would have been applied. We had originally decided we wanted the "wrap". Scott looked everything over and considered how the new windows would look with the existing windows. He explained everything and then gave us a choice on whether or not we still wanted the "wrap". We decided against it. We really like the new windows and we felt that Richard's Roofing was easy to work with whenever we called and asked questions.

(1/20/10) I called this company over a week ago. The lady who answered the telephone was friendly and cheerful. She wanted to know how I found out about the company. I told her that I had obtained the information from Angie?s List. She told me that she would give my name and telephone number to the representative and that I would receive a call so that arrangements could be made to inspect my roof. I am aware that there are some companies that do not like to work in the city. I can only assume that this is the reason why I was never contacted. UPDATE (1/21/10) I am correcting a complaint that I submitted on Richards Roofing & Exterior on 01/20/10. At the time of my report I was unaware that someone had come out to inspect my roof. The lady answering the telephone informed me that someone would contact me to set up an appointment to check the roof. No one ever called. Today, I received a letter in the mail with a proposed contract in it. When I contacted the company, I was informed that some had been in the neighborhood and had checked the roof. Mr. Richard Ray stated that they had a record of me calling on January 18. That might be when he received the message. However, I called the week before. I know that I did not call on Martin Luther King Day. This appears to have been a communication problem. I was very satisfied with my conversation with Mr. Ray, and I feel that there is a great possibility that we might be able to do business. In the event that I select this company for my roofing, I would like to reserve the right to submit an updated report. UPDATE (01/27/10) Richards Roofing and Exterior provided me with an estimate of repairs needed on my roof. However, after coming to my home a second time, Mr. Ray determined that I could hold off on the needed repairs. Another company had advised me that I needed a new roof. Mr. Ray stated that I did not need a new roof and this would be the advice that he would give to his mother. This company deserves a grade of ?A? for overall experience.

They were excellent and I am pleased with the work.The estimator, Kevin, rearranged the downspouts in the back and fixed them so the water goes to the side yard and not the back. No one had ever down that, so that was a good thing. The workmen were patient, answered my questions, and were professionally dressed. I would use them again if needed.

We had a couple of holes in the cornice around the roof and there were birds getting in there and nesting. They got up there and patched those holes. It was a relatively expensive repair because they had to actually rent out one of those people movers to bring them up to that level. It was expensive equipment for them to rent, which then got passed down to us. They were very upfront about that - we knew what we were getting into. We have had them do a number of jobs for us. The first jobs they did were a roof replacement for around $26500 and then a roof repair for $2600. This past year, we had them do a downspout repair which was a little over $1400. The cornice repair cost $1700 - it was more because they had to run the specialized piece of equipment. I called them in the first time because they were so highly rated on Angie?s List. I was concerned that it was going to be a fairly substantial bid because of other big-name companies that had come and looked at the roof. They were about $10000, or maybe $20000, less than the next closest bid. My experience with them is that they are very reasonable. We had a couple of situations where residents thought that a couple of heating and cooling issues they had might have been due to the roof being replaced. On both occasions, Dick Russell, who is the owner, had that looked into. When it was determined that it really was a case of their sub-contractors? fault, he reimbursed us for the repairs, and in the other case, where it turned out not to be, he was still very diligent checking it out and making phone calls and so forth. They?ve been great. The biggest complaint I would have about them is the problem we face getting on their schedule because they are incredibly busy, but they are here when they say they are going to be here. They are really good at what they do. In terms of responsiveness and punctuality, I would still say that they are good because it?s certainly not their fault. You have to wait your turn in line. I have passed their names around and know of at least one other person who has used them since. I would continue to use them in the future.

Richard Ray arrived as scheduled. Told him I needed a roof replacement. He measured around the foundation of my house and garage and said that he would be sending me the estimate. I received the estimate a few days later and it was quite high, although this was my first estimate and I did not know what to expect. My problem with the estimate was that he did not even go onto the roof, but I withheld judgment until I got other estimates.

They were professional, responsive and punctual. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

Estimate: One company scheduled an appointment and didn't show or call. One company gave an estimate that was comparible but stated they would not deal with the Gutter Guard that keeps our gutters free of leaves. Richards showed up on time provided an estimate that broke out all the options we asked for and said they would deal with the Gutter Guard. They provided the addresses of other jobs in our area that had the kinds of shingles that we decided on for us to see what the colors looked like. We made our selections and they were out to start work when they said they would. The job took a little longer than originally estimated because of poor weather. But we did not have any leaks. They cleaned up everyday and we did not have any mess at all. Everything went as planned with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER.

good. the workers were professional and quiet - and very quick. It did take three weeks to get them started, but once they were here they were done in four hours. I would have liked a photo of the final work, but they left before I had a chance to ask. I called with questions afterwards, and they were helpful in explaining what they found.

We never even saw them. They just showed up and repaired while we were gone. That was kind of nice and we didn?t have to deal with anything. We got a letter informing us that they would be here and they were here and fixed it. I haven?t had any leak or any problems since then. We would definitely use them again.

We were happy with their response and how quickly the job was completed. Within an hour or less, it was done. They cleaned the area nicely and we were very happy with their job performance. I believe the success of this company lies in the 2 divisions they work from. One division covers whole roof replacement and the other division covers maintenance, leaky roofs, and patch work. We also highly recommend this company and will continue to use their service for future jobs.

I didn't use this contractor because he didn't address my concerns. Additionally, I didn't feel he fully assessed the problems because he didn't go up on the roof. I chose another contractor.

We used him a lot for anything to do with the roof. He fixed a leak in the sky light. He comes when you call him and is punctual. He is professional and his prices are reasonable.
