Be careful with his company, get everything in writing !! They will take your money and run. You will need to hold workers hands in order for things to be to code and per contract / scope of work. Management will argue and try get out of contract agreements. It's not a good look when 3 separate teams (same company) come to finish pervious teams work. Each team all said that pervious work was bad or lazy. Richardson teams even urinated on my driveway instead of using the bathroom (on camera). They installed posts wrong and blamed me for not being there to tell them the correct placement . They also caused damaged to interior drywall and refuse to fix. Get everything in writing. There's a reason they don't allow reviews.

Our roof was at least 15 year old and it had been over 5 years since our last inspection so we had Richard come out and see if any work was indicated. He came out quickly inspected our roof and said that we had no damage and reassured us that we likely had another 5 years on our roof. We greatly appreciated his honesty! Will definitely have him back.

Excellent. They were responsive, considerate, and competitive with the bidding, and the new roof and ridge vent installation was fast, orderly, and well-done. And when we chose the Energy Star shingles, they gave us great examples to check out to make sure that it was what we wanted before they started. All-around great to work with, and we highly recommend.

Richards Roofing replaced our roof about 18 months ago, and did a good job. At some point, we began very occasionally hearing a rattling noise from up in the attic during windy periods. It was very rare, but it eventually seemed like it might be coming from the roof. I called Richards Roofing, and they came out the next morning. They did a thorough investigation (including going up on the roof with a blower) and thought it might be a gutter cover that was causing the noise. For now, we pulled the gutter cover to see if that fixes it. My main point is that 18 months after the job, they came straight out no questions asked to look into a reported problem. Based on that, I would definitely use again and recommend them to others.

It couldn't have gone any better. They were honest, reliable, and responsive when I had questions. because they couldn't get to my roof right away, they did a temporary fix, and when that didn't hold, they came back and redid the temporary fix until it worked. They also took care of scheduling the tuckpointing that was necessary. I don't know how their pricing compares to that of their competitors, but I don't really care. honesty and quality work it's worth paying for.

Excellent professionalism and timely communication. He was open, honest, respectful and rather than trying to perform a bigger job that I thought I might need, he advised me how to appropriately repair it at a more reasonable cost. If he were not an honest businessman, he could have easily taken advantage of my willingness to commit to a larger job. I would use use this company going forward for my roofing needs.

Not well. 3 things were proposed and discussed that would solve the issue for a cost of $875, with a down-payment of $290. 1. Gutter: I interpreted my discussion with Mr. Ray as indicating that the front gutter needed to be rehung, a reasonable action in light of the problem. The agreement I signed, however, did not so state but instead stated "refastening existing gutter.” I interpreted that as rehanging since one could not refasten without first unfastening. That I was expecting the gutters to be rehung was clear from my inquiry: I accept the terms of the proposal. I assume, although it is not documented, that when you replace the gutters that you will also caulk the miter joints. Response: Yes, any dismantled gutter components will be re-caulked (i.e., end caps). Notably, instead of clarifying any existing misconception on my part prior to the work being done, my comment re replacing the gutters was not addressed. My illusion continued when the worker, Chris, showed up alone. I questioned how he could accomplish this by himself. His response “I plan on being here most of the day”. I accept full responsibility for signing an agreement that did not precisely state what I expected to be done but I also feel that my interpretation was based on several incidences that could have easily been corrected. What was done was to install two screws to re-attach the gutter at the site of separation. 2. Drip-edge: The proposal included installing a new drip-edge. When I asked “I don’t have one?” the response was he don’t know because the gutter guards prevented that determination, and he would send someone out to check. Instead of focusing on the fact that they enhanced the cost of the project by proposing a “fix” that I may or may not have needed, I was impressed that they were going back to check. In retrospect, that was probably not the best move. After Chris had been working for about 45 min, I went out to tell him I was going to run a quick errand and would be back to observe what he was doing since he was going to be there most of the day. It was then I saw him ripping out my existing drip edge. Before I said a word, he grinned widely, stating “now it will be white instead of brown” I was too startled, and pressed to do my errand, that I just left. When I returned, Chris was gone. Apparently “most of the day” is about 1 1/2 hr. 3. I was also informed that the shingles did not extend sufficiently over the gutter guards. Thus I inferred from the statement in the agreement that any new shingles used will match as closely as possible as meaning that they will address this issue. That this was a “major problem” leading to the dripping of water behind the gutter was confirmed by Chris when he arrived to work on the gutter. As Chris was not at the house when I returned I did not see him install the drip-edge or the new shingles. Given the gutter guards were in place I couldn’t tell if he did the former, but I could definitely say that no new shingles were added to fix the “major problem”. My concerns were addressed to Mr. Ray who sent another crew to my home. When Scott arrived, I requested that he determine if they actually fixed the problem I hired them to fix by demonstrating that the gutters were functioning correctly. So I handed him a hose. Scott went onto the roof, sprayed the roof and quickly ascertained that the gutters weren’t draining. One down-spot was clogged, allowing water to pool at the location above the bay window. Clearly, no one had actually done this simple task to correctly diagnose the problem to begin with. Thus none of what was proposed actually addressed the problem and with the next rain I would have been in the same situation but $875 poorer. I then asked them to confirm that Chris had not just ripped out my existing drip-edge but had put in a new one. Scott said it was there. I then questioned the need for new shingles to extend further over the gutter guards. He confirmed that none were added but indicated that they weren’t necessary since what was there was sufficient. Mr. Ray did nullify the remaining $ due on the agreement and I’m sure he felt that was generous, particularly since Chris told him that he had removed only 6 ft of existing drip edge in the front of the house. Sadly that too was not true. So cleaning the downspout and two screws to reattach the gutter only cost me $290. Here’s what I learned, which you all probably already know: Before you hire someone to fix a problem, know the cause of the problem and don’t assume someone else will make the correct diagnosis. Alternatively, ask how they made their diagnosis. Be very careful of the wording of any agreement you sign: things spelled out in sufficient detail to assure that anyone would know what is being done is what you are expecting. Pay as you go and don’t pre-pay anything, With respect to Richard’s roofing, Mr. Ray did attempt to resolve the problems, and the individual he sent over to do so, Scott, was very professional, capable and a good representative of the company. My preference would have been to not have those problems in the first place.

Response from Richards Roofing & Exteriors Inc
Diagnosing and estimating repairs is often difficult. This homeowner's situation fell into this category. We performed all of the estimated work, but the customer was unhappy with the process. We were able to solve the problem, (see latter section of her statement), and discounted the invoice to reflect our labor only. I am sorry that she was not happy with the process, but the end result was a satisfactory solution at a greatly discounted price.

They came out and gave us a quote last fall, then we did the roof this spring. They added a ridge vent. Overall, I found them excellent to work with. They delivered documentation for our "5 Star Certainteed Warrenty" as promised. They seemed much more straight forward/honest than some of the other quotes I got. I would recommend getting a quote from them if you are replacing a roof

I have a leak in my ceiling. They recommended that we re-flash and shingle around the window dormer above this part of the ceiling. It made sense to me as we tried other ways to identify and treat this issue and it was not going away. We figured we'd start fresh and have it re-shingled in that area. The estimation process was quick. Rich really seemed to know what we was talking about. He was able to identify the brand, type, and color of my shingles just by looking at it. When I committed to the price quote they replied right away to schedule the work. The work was scheduled with-in a couple days. The crew that did the work arrived early, greeted me, re-capped what they were going to work on and got right to work. They were done in 2-3 hours. The work looks great. When they came off the roof they showed me that one of the old shingles had been cut (sliced by utility knife most likely), probably by accident when the roof had originally been installed (before I bought the home). We're hoping that is the root cause. I've not had heavy rainfall yet to know if we're fully fixed, but the experience of working with them was pleasant.

We had a wonderful roofing job done. These were the most courteous, most professional, team of workers I've ever experienced. They were so scrupulously clean about what they did, they cleaned up every day after they were done working. It was an absolute pleasure working with them. They did some sheet metal capping and the people that did the sheet metal work were A+. They were wonderful. They just had a specialty person that did that.

I would highly recommend Richard's Roofing and Exteriors to anyone in the St. Louis area looking for roof and/or gutter repair. Kevin from Sales is who we worked with mainly on estimates and when there were unexpected repairs needed, he was very explanatory and thorough in why the extra work needed to be done. Although our roof was a small job, everyone we worked with treated us with respect and professionalism.
Description of Work: We needed a roof repair for an extremely old roof along with old wind/ hail damage. I got 3 different bids, and Richard's was the most price competitive for the scope of work being performed. Richard's Roofing came right out for the estimate and provided the estimate very promptly. That prompt and professional service was provided throughout the time the repair was being performed. The crews were always punctual, cleaned up debris, and answered any questions we had.

I was pleased with the work. Another company had looked at it, and said I needed a new roof. Richard said you don't need another one for another ten years. I knew that the roof was not all that bad, and I was pleased with him coming. I have all his information, for when I do need an new roof. They were prompt in coming, and evaluated everything that was going on. I thought the price was a little high, but I am not an roofer. He had to replace not only shingles, but an section of he gutter. That was what added to the cost more. I think the quality is fine. He did the work that was needed ,and he assured me the roof has time.
Description of Work: I had him come and look at my roof, after damaged from an branch, from an storm. He replaced some of the shingles that needed replacing, and fixed other things. He did the repair on the roof.

This is the second roof we have had done by Richards Roofing and we used them again because of an excellent first experience. This second experience in November 2016 was just as good. The crew was very responsive to our requests, cleaned up at the end of each work day and over the 5 days it took to replace the roof, showed up as indicated and did the job within the specified period. Communication was excellent and they did everything they promised they would do. Communication in advance of weather precluding work on our job was excellent as well. I don't think we could have asked for anything more.... expectations wer more than met and I sent a letter of commendation about the crew that did the work to the owner of the company.
Description of Work: We worked with Kevin at Richards roofing. We needed our roof replaced following the major hail storm in April of 2015. Kevin worked with the State Farm adjuster and after pointing out several areas requiring focused solutions in challenging circumstances, the adjuster made some modifications to the coverage that essentially (after I paid my deductible) took care of the expense.

The inspection and estimate were thorough and prompt. Once the claim was approved by the insurance company, the company scheduled the work as soon as we advised them that related tree trimming had been completed. The work crew they sent arrived on time and was friendly and professional. Although weather delayed completion of the work, the crew returned as soon as conditions permitted. The finished roof looks wonderful.
