The work was fabulous. They were wonderful to work with. There were some siding issues, not with them, and they corrected it beautifully.

It turned out great!

I had really high hopes about Innovative, based on very positive reviews here on Angies list. In fairness, I am not sure whether my eventual experience reflects on the company, or just a single salesman. The request was part of my screening for the best roofing contractor here in Saint Louis, and interviewing eight independent contractors. The initial response from Innovative was very fast. I got a call and an email from Tom. We set up an appointment and Tom was prompt to come and look at the roof. I actually enjoyed getting with him on the roof and explaining what I wanted done. I gave Tom a comprehensive written description, which outlined what I think the scope of work should be (just to make sure I don't miss anything). To my complete surprise I have never got an estimate from Tom. That was despite several reminders by email. Every time he would apologize and promise to send it to me shortly, but never did. So make your own conclusions. I obviously went with another company.

We worked with Innovative Roofing on a bid for a roofing project. They were professional, responsive, and friendly. It was a joy to interact with them. Another plus was that they noticed that the problems with our roof were most likely going to be covered by insurance, and for this our family will always be grateful to them. Ultimately we signed a contract with a different company, primarily because Innovative insisted on starting with our insurance bid rather than starting with their own independent assessment. In the process, they did not initially notice (as the insurance company did not notice) that the materials were real copper instead of aluminum, and in the process we nearly downgraded our property by thousands of dollars. They did notice it later, but it turns out that would have been too late for the insurance adjustment. The other roofer we signed with noticed the materials discrepancy immediately, and we had time to correct this before the insurance company issued the check. Because Innovative insisted on starting with the insurance estimate, they also would not give us an estimate until knowing who would be paying for the job, and it was weeks before the insurance company made its determination. This meant we could not budget for the job in the meantime, in case we were paying for it ourselves. Again, we had a very good experience with them, and I think if we had insisted on doing the estimate independently then we would most likely have chosen to work with Innovative. Their quoted price was about $8,400. Their quote was good; they were courteous and got back to me in pretty good time.

Innovative Construction & Roofing did a good job. But I had problems with the crew not being able to speak in English. They were punctual, responsive and the price was reasonable but the whole crew not being able to speak in English was not to my liking so I will not be using them in the future.

The company sales people were nice and they got the job done within 1 month after they started the roofing. They did finish it fast and quality was good. But after 10 months the shingles above the garage door started coming out,moving forward. I have called several times and emailed them a couple of times also, so far no response. I guess when they got their money they dont care anymore. POOR SERVICE AFTER THE INSTALLATION OF MY ROOF.

I contacted Innovative the week of May 21st to obtain a bid for my job. An Innovative representative, Tim, contacted me (May 30th) and gave me the ins and outs of insurance replacement and dealing with insurance companies. After much back and forth for about a week (Tim requesting to see the insurance provider's estimates to compare their pricing estimates and measurements), Tim told me Friday (June 1) he would work on this quote and have it to me the over the weekend (June 2). I faxed him the insurance paperwork that day (even though the other companies didn't require that).I didn't hear anything from him that weekend nor Monday or Tuesday. Wednesday afternoon (June 6th), Tim contacts me and apologizes, explaining he didn't have the time to write up my bid and that he would give my information to someone else on his team who would contact me to start the process. I told Tim that wouldn't be necessary as we discussed his having the bid over the weekend. Tim argued that he didn't say over the weekend he said mid-week (June 6th). Maybe I misheard him, so I can go with that, except that it was Wednesday (mid-week) and he still didn't have my quote, he was passing my account to someone else. I expressed my unsatisfaction of not receiving the bid and that I would be placing comments here on Angie's list.This is when Tim grew very angry and began repeatingly calling me "spiteful" and argued that I shouldn't report this on Angie's list. He stated that I should only report things if he "messed up my roof" but work hadn't been completed yet. He went on non stop for minutes very concerned that his company had a perfect rating (versus finding a solution to this customer service issue). He told me his company had too many bids to do and he couldn't have possibly done it by mid-week etc. I ended the call several times only for him to call back with more name calling and excuses.In my opinion, customer service is a huge part of business. Meet the timelines you set and never call the customer names. If you are unable to complete a task, be honest up front so customers may find other contractors. How should I trust you will arrive to the job site on time or do the work as agreed if you can't keep commitments up front?I didn't give them an F because work hadn't been completed. But they failed in my book.

I had a misunderstanding with this company, but the owner stepped in and resolved all of my issues. It's nice to know that if you have a problem the owner will personally take care of it for you.

The job went great and they were great to work with. When I called them with questions I had they were responsive. They kept me informed with what was going on. Their job was interrupted due to bad weather but they kept me informed of how things were going and as soon as the weather got better they came out and got it finished. I was very pleased with them. Their price was by far the best. I would use them again in the future.

The experience was phenomenal. We had multiple bids placed to replace our roof. This was money out of our own pocket simply due to the age of the roof, and thus we were much more concerned with cost because we were getting no insurance assistance. We hadn't simply planned to go with the lowest bid right off, because we did want it to be quality as well, and we honestly did not know what to expect from a price standpoint. Our first bid was from another company, and it came in at $15,800. We were floored, as our roof does not have steep pitches and is not very big (for example, my parents had a much larger roof - with many more very steep pitches and storm damage - replaced recently for $20,000). The company tried to sell us their "warranty" as being worth the extra money (which, in all honesty, was a good warranty). Then we got a bid from another company for $9,000. There was little difference in materials between the first two companies, except the first company had more experience, was larger, and had a little better warranty (which, in my opinion, is not worth nearly double the price). Finally, we called Innovative and got a hold of Colin. He was awesome to work with. He was pleasant on the phone, schedule an appointment quickly and showed up right on time. His bid was in my e-mail inbox within a day, and it was $8,500 (thus, the cheapest), had the same (if not better) warranty as company #1, and they used far superior materials to the other companies. Then, I began checkin reputation (more in depth, I had done some checks prior to getting the estimates as well), and the reputation for Innovative was amazing - especially on Angie's List. Colin fielded all of my phone calls with multiple questions without issue and continued to be great to talk with on the phone . We made the decision to go with Innovative because it was a no brainer, and Colin was able to set up work to begin within the next week. We were out of town when the work occurred, and Colin made sure to field all my phone calls while we were gone to be sure the work was going well (there was a storm that hit the night they began work, so I was concerned about any areas that had been left open). Everything went incredibly smoothy, and the roof was done in one day. When Colin came to collect our payment, he informed me that he had to replace 4 sections of rotted plywood and that there were two coats of shingles on our roof instead of just one (which, all in all, should have cost us an extra $500 to have removed/replaced), yet he did not ask for any additional payment, stating he was there only to honor our original contract. It looks absolutely stunning, and is by far the best looking roof on the block. We will absolutely use Innovative in the future if we have any roofing needs, and will highly recommend them to anyone and everyone we meet who needs roof work done.

Replacing your roof is a big deal in terms of cost, aesthetics, and project management. Our slate roof is a huge part of our house’s character and we needed people we could trust to do the job. We had seen Innovative’s work around our neighborhood and it looked great. However, we’d been burned by contractors in the past, so we did our homework. Their online reputation is so positive, it almost seemed a little too good to be true. It turns out that the reason they have such solid reviews is that they do great work. Tim, our project manager, was professional, friendly and knowledgeable, and meticulously followed through on every detail of the job. No concern was too small for him to personally take the time to address. I would say that he came to our house over twenty times…to do paperwork, deal with our insurance adjuster, plan the work, check up on how things were going, etc. Having someone who tenaciously manages that whole process is a must. The actual roofing job was done relatively quickly and painlessly. Naturally, it was loud and a little disruptive, but the crew worked hard, was courteous and kept the mess to a minimum. Best of all, actual installation was beautifully done. Thank you, Innovative. You guys rocked!

Innovative did a fantastic job with the replacement of our slate roof and cooper gutters. We had a very steep hail damaged slate roof and the demo/ replacement was executed without any problems. They did a great job from start to finish, even helping us through the insurance claim process. Tim and Pat were professional, very responsive, and easy to work with. The crew was very courteous and conscientious our neighbors. Our roof looks wonderful and clean up of the work area was great. We could not be any more pleased with the work!

Someone from Innovative knocked on our door and said that a lot of homes with slate roofs in the area had been damaged because of hail in the spring and needed to be replaced. He asked if we wanted him to inspect our roof. We agreed, and when he came back down, he said that in his experience our roof was damaged badly enough for the insurance company to agree to pay for a new roof. We were a little suspicious, but we had the insurance adjuster come out and he agreed about the roof and said we needed new gutters and window wraps, too (Patrick McNichols, one of the owners of Innovative came out and was there for the inspection). At this point, my husband was still uneasy about Innovative because they are a relatively new company and had found us rather than the other way around. He was considering going with another company, but I liked Patrick, so I did as thorough a search as I knew how on Patrick and Innovative Construction (internet, calling references, etc.) and everything I turned up was very positive. It gave us further confidence to learn that they do not ask for any money up front. Thus, we decided to proceed with Innovative. The work hasn't been started yet (we are waiting for the delivery of our new slate tiles), but we have been extremely pleased with our interactions with everyone associated with Innovative Construction thus far. I will provide an update when the work has been completed.
