Owner operated with over 35 years exp. Imployes 4 sons, Interior and Exterior Prepartion and Painting, Wallpaper Removal, and Hanging, Custom Finishes, Epoxy Coating. No subs. Cost determined by the job. No travel charges. Lead paint removal certified and licensed.
This was our first experience having a house painted. After contacting several painting contractors we decided on Coco and Sons. Chris, the owner, responded quickly, delivered the bid personally, and made sure that all questions we had were answered. Masonry paint was recommended for the brick to protect our recently completed tuck pointing. The job was started and completed on time and not a penny over bid. I would recommend Coco and Sons to anyone in the future. Our neighbors have complemented the way our house looks since it was painted. I wish all contracting projects were this easy and pleasant.
Description of Work: Power wash of entire exterior of the brick house, wash and repair of fascia around the front porch, wash and painting of front shutters. Treated entire house to prevent mold and mildew and prepared brick surfaces with special paint to preserve the masonry and seal the house. Painted wood fascia as well, and also painted the roof of the front porch.

They were absolutely amazing. They gave me the best bid and they were here Johnny on the spot. I would definitely recommend them. They were clean, they cleaned up, they kept me informed about what they were doing, and they let me know if any boards were rotting. The workers were super and it was a wonderful experience. They were here every single day and they were very professional. I tell everyone about them, especially because I love small businesses.

It took a little while for Chris to get us an estimate, but he was in touch to tell us he hadn't forgotten about us. The company had to wait a bit while we had our gutters replaced and they were cooperative. They did a thorough job prepping the house, applying primer and paint. They were substantially more expensive than some other bids, but they also seemed to do more prep work than other companies. My only quibble with them is that they missed a few spots and got some paint on the bricks around the doorways. Other than that, fine job. Chris called after the job was finished to tell us to call if we had any problems or if there were spots that needed touch-up. Overall, the company seems very responsible and professional.

They showed up on time - no problem there. I waited for a quote and never got one. I see in previous reviews that they say this might happen from time to time. So I gave them another chance. I called the receptionist to remind them I was waiting for a quote and she said she would look into it. Didn't get anything after that. Needless to say, I can't rate them highly.

C.Coco and Sons would like to apologize for any missed communication due to some family illness some day to day activities have suffered, As far as your location St.Charles it was a little further then we expected. I tried to contact other paint contractors in your area that would be beneficial to you and more cost effective to both parties but with no luck. We hired Coco and Sons Painting to paint the exterior trim of our 3-story home and detached garage. Overall, we are very pleased with the quality of work and results we received. Chris Coco was prompt in getting us a thorough cost estimate. Chris and his crew completed the entire job in the amount of time they had estimated. The final cost did not change from the original estimate even though they ended up repairing some wood and caulking some areas. They also applied an extra coat of paint in some areas where needed. None of these ?extra? items were added to the cost. Chris and his crew were efficient, knowledgeable, and courteous. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to anyone looking for a professional house painter.

quick and simple job, could hardly tell they'd been there except for the nicely painted guttering and trimwork. They started the job around 8:30am and were gone by the time I'd returned home from work at 5:00 or so. We provided the paint that was left over from the bigger job they'd done for us previously. Looks nice.

Coco and Sons were wonderful to work with. They arrived on time and completed the job in a timely manner. I've worked with other painting companies, but Chris and his sons are better. Chris quoted me a price for the job and not an hourly rate. The last company with whom I contracted quoted me a price by the hour, and they ran over. (Surprise! Surprise!)

Although a person from this company called and I described the problem on the phone, they did not set a time to visit and assess the situation. Then someone came to the house when I was not home, opened the latch to the back yard and looked around. They left a card in the mailbox but did not try to contact me. I just could not believe someone I didn't know would have the nerve to show up unexpected and open the gate and enter my back yard.

This was supposed to be a simple exterior paint job with a few shingle replacements. However, the job ended up being much more extensive than we or Chris planned as when he removed some rotted shingles along the front porch of the house he discovered there was extensive water damage to some of the supporting boards on the deck. Chris added this to the quote and got right to work replacing the supports and boards on the porch. Doing this work involved his delaying the start of work with subsequent customers but Chris did what it took to get the work that was needed done and with high quality. On the second to last day we discovered one of the paints we'd selected didn't quite look the way we wanted. So Chris helped us choose another and put it on with no additional charge.

They were prompt with their estimate, pleasant, clean and mannerly and arrived each morning around 8am to start their day. They primed and painted two coats of quality paint at a cost below two other reputable bids we'd received. They were careful of my clay tile roof, and vacuumed paint chips from the yard after the first powerwash and scrape, cleaning everything nicely. They did a few things extra at no cost, and also did some wood repair of a damaged tongue-in-groove soffit area and re-screened a couple of window screens, also fixing the wooden frame. When they left for the day there was very little evidence they'd been there, no paint drips, and their materials were stashed neatly in one area. Also, they willingly returned the next day after they finished the job to do a bit of spot work we noticed needed touchup. Everything looks so nice now and the paint job appears to be tight and trim. I am thoroughly pleased with the quality of their work, their workmanship and the price. It was nice to see a family working so well together, too.

We are always sorry to hear of a customers complaint reported on Angie's List, We strive to give the very best product to our customers and on nearly every job do more then contracted at no additional charge. As far as the above mentioned house, the color chosen was a dramatic change and additional coat of paint 3 total was applied so we are not sure how there were areas skipped, as far as paint drops, It is common to see paint drops from previous paint jobs mistakenly thought to be new. In any case no complaint was reported to us, It is our policy to take care of any complaints immediately.

Chris came out and gave me an estimate within 48 hrs of contacting his company. He explained everything they would be doing. He also informed me of what would be done if any rotten wood was found and what my options were as far as wood replacement materials, i.e. vinyl. A few days after the bid was accepted I came home to find they had started the job. The job was completed within 3 days and they did a great job with the clean up. The house looks great and I will be contacting them in the future for more painting jobs.

We were completely satisfied with the work, from the original walk-around with Mr Coco, to the estimate, timeliness, and quality of the work. There were some extraneous splashes of paint left behind, and a little trash, but this was minimal and we would certainly use these painters again--and are considering doing so when we have some of the interior painted.

This was a positive experience from start to finish. They had to do the job under difficult weather conditions because although they gave us the estimate on October 17, we weren t able to confirm the contract until November 12, but then we couldn t wait to have the work done until spring because of a deadline from the city s building code department (the unprimed old paint was peeling off in sheets). They started the job on the first day that weather allowed and were out at our house every day that the weather allowed. Also, because we have a lot of clutter, they sometimes had trouble getting to the window interiors, but they were unfailingly good-humored. It was really strange for us to be inside at home when they were scraping the paint we felt like giant squirrels were attacking the house! but their professional attitude set us at ease. Reasons for costs over the estimate: The extra was replacing the large glass panel on the front door; this had broken a few years ago, and we had patched it with wood; Mr. Coco installed high-quality tempered glass. The mistake we made was our color choice. We picked a green that ended up being much brighter than what we d envisioned it made our house look like a Lincoln Log toy! After part of the house had been painted and we realized our mistake, Mr. Coco found a stock Benjamin Moore color that matched our new custom color choice, so he saved us as much money as possible. He handled this perfectly he strongly gave his professional opinion that the first color wasn t our best choice, but when we insisted, he cheerfully did what the customer wanted. Then when we changed our mind, he made things work. Now our house is painted in a vibrant forest green which is not in-your-face but still looks quite striking against the dark red brick. Mr. Coco answers all questions thoroughly and courteously, whether in person, on the phone, or via email. He really knows his materials and explained to me in layman s terms about the different qualities of the different paints and colors. I always felt comfortable talking with him and his sons about the work in progress. I d never before contracted to have such extensive and expensive work done on my house (even replacing the roof was cheaper) so choosing the right contractor was traumatic. Mr. Coco s estimate was so much lower than two others I had received from well-respected painters one a couple of years ago, one requested simultaneously with his estimate that I asked him to clarify point by point whether his estimate included all the same work. It did. After seeing the beautiful results on our house, I can t imagine any significant improvement in quality that would be covered by the huge difference in price. My whole family is very happy with the way our house looks and the way the work was carried out.
Description of Work: This was a complete painting job on all the exterior woodwork trim on our 1-1/2-story 1923 brick house. This was quite a lot, as it included the two dormers above the roof line, the front entry door and frame, storm windows inside and out, the two large doors on the in-house garage, fascia and soffits, basement windows, and two front porches with French windows all around. The woodwork hadn t been painted for 20 years, when the previous owners had it painted before putting the house up for sale, and hadn t been primed when it had been painted at that time. Mr. Coco and his crew (who are his sons) power-washed, scraped and sanded down to the bare wood, applied an oil-based primer, caulked and glazed where necessary, replaced damaged wood including all the end-caps for no extra charge, and gave everything at least two coats of top-of-the-line Benjamin Moore acrylic latex paint. (NOTE: The original estimate was $8,350. Our final cost was higher only because of an extra that we added and a mistake that we made. See "how did it go overall" for details.) There were many great extras. They really understood the finicky original windows on a 1923 house, both the variety of the trim styles and the mechanics of how the windows opened and closed. When our woodpiles blocked their access to the upper story windows, they moved all the wood and restacked it. When we had trouble with getting one window open afterward because the cold weather had caused the paint to dry too slowly, not only did they come out to fix the problem (which I would expect) but I only had to notify them once and they showed up as soon as the weather permitted. Some of the basement window screens had wood too damaged to repair, so Mr. Coco took the screens and is checking with a carpenter he knows to see if the frames can be rebuilt. Mr. Coco told me that they would come back in the spring to do any clean-ups that they might have missed and any touch-ups that proved necessary because of the weather conditions. At that time, I m going to ask them to do a new job, to varnish all the bead-board under the eaves.
