Coco & Sons Painting & Home Improvement

We hired Coco and Son's painting to repaint the entire first floor of our home as well as our kitchen and mudroom cabinets. Our kitchen cabinets have a hand painted shadowing in the inner part of each panel. Mr Coco said that he would be able to do this but it would take some trial and error. He said this in front of my wife and I as well as in front of 2 of his 3 sons that came to work work on our project. Midway through the kitchen cabinets he came up to me and said that he did not bid for doing this hand painting and could not do it ( had we known he couldn't and had no intention of replicating this trim, we would have used someone else. I'm pretty sure he knew that and is why he said he would do it up front but that's speculation.). He didn't offer any reduction in the price for not doing the trim and we had to pay to have someone come in and do the hand painting. The second of many quality issues was in the number of coats that our cabinets received. He said he would do 2 coats on all the cabinets. After doing the first coating on a Friday he had my wife come take a look and said "don't worry about any spots this is just the first coating". The next morning he came in and removed all the plastic and said the cabinets were done. We reminded him that he had said it was just the first coating and he denied stating that and said they had received 2 coatings. It's very obvious they haven't. They did not replace brackets they had taken off. I still have wall outlets that they removed and did not replace. Mr. Coco yelled at me over the phone, that this job was taking too long and he needed to move on to other jobs. I found Mr Coco to be very willing to lie and misrepresent the work he was going to do. I have some rooms that already need to be redone and repaired because of the lack of quality of work and, in the cabinets case, lack of coatings of paint. Make sure every little detail is written down in your bid. Do not take his word on what he will do.

Seems that if Coco & Sons don't want your job, they just ignore you. Like other reviews here, they came out and looked at the job, but never gave an estimate, and did not return 3 or 4 polite requests for a call back, over a week's time. Even if they are busy, this company has a nice website and presents a very professional image, so you expect professional conduct -- however, their customer relations are very unprofessional. We spent time researching the company, examining their website, meeting with their estimator... then, nothing. All that time wasted, and no courtesy call to say, "Sorry, we're too busy,"

Very prompt return of request for quote. Easy to schedule service. Crew was friendly and tolerant of my running around for normal morning routine. They started on a Tuesday and completed plaster repair. I also decided to change color schemes on Tuesday. One of the sons helped me pick new colors and painted sample swatches on the walls. I think Wednesday was primer, ceilings, and wall coat 1 with a crew of 5. Thursday was coat 2 and trim work. pros: friendly, competent. They cleaned up every night. Very respectful of hArdwood floors, curtains, furniture. Cons: some of the detail work wasn't as clean as I expected. Some drips on the stairs. Didn't paint the top of door frames. I would have appreciated updates regarding plans/progress more often.

Another great experience. We'd used Coco & Sons before, with similar satisfaction. Their communication was very good and the workmanship was of a high quality.

I called them 3 days ago for an estimate. I was told that someone would contact me. No one has returned my call. I might use them if they'd call back and give me an estimate.

Chris and his sons did an excellent job for us. Chris was incredibly responsive and returned calls promptly. He even stopped by on a weekend day before starting the job to help me make a final decision regarding paint colors. They were on time each morning and very professional. The job they did was amazing. I did not find even one imperfection. We will definitely be hiring them again to do exterior painting this spring. As for price, I received a few quotes for the work. They weren't the cheapest, but weren't the most expensive either. But for the quality of work, the quality of the paint that they use, and how quickly they were able to get everything done (a day and a half) the price was more than reasonable.

Absolutely love working with Chris Coco and sons! They were very professional and did a great job. They were there approximately 9 days with a lot of preparation, sanding, priming, and painting. This home was built 1928 and is predominantly all plaster wall and ceiling. The ceiling and wall lines were cut with clean lines and is hard to do with old plaster walls. I loved how Chris would make recommendations and also open to adding on miscellaneous items as they came up. I liked that he was flexible to work with. He also said he would come back to touch up once our contractors finished work in our home and got our lighting completed in case they may have missed anything. I would highly recommend Chris and sons to everyone.

They mostly did a good job, there were spots that were sloppy but overall they were good. There was nothing in the deal that they would come back and do a better job. Their price was far better than anybody else.

Called on 6/24 for to set up a time for an estimate. Janene was very friendly and set it up for Friday the 28th. Chris Coco showed up right on time and I outlined all the work to be done. He said he'd get back to me with a quote in the next few days/early the following week. Didn't hear back. On 7/9 I called and spoke to Janene again asking about the quote. She said she'd check into it and get something in the mail. Still nothing. Several days later I left another message saying we hadn't received anything and we were making a decision soon and said they could email the quote..... Crickets. It wasn't a huge job ( <$2500) so maybe they weren't interested but the common courtesy of a response when someone is waiting to make a decision would have been nice. Curious as to why they never responded. If they're this bad with the estimate process it makes me wonder about their responsiveness during the actual job. I guess we'll never find out.

They weren't able to get the job done in the fall due to weather, but they came out first thing in the spring. They came as promised, worked with us on colors, and did a nice job painting. No problems. The price was in the middle of other bids - not the lowest, but we felt the quality was worth the price.

Chris Coco and his team were great. They got the job done very quickly, were extremely professional and friendly too! We highly recommend them. Our neighbors who have used them say the paint job lasts incredibly well.

Coco & Sons Painting & Home Improvement completed the work on the schedule that they said. They were prompt and they cleaned up after themselves and left the rooms of the house looking good. It is a family business and we had father and two of his sons and they are really personable and easy to deal with.

Amazing job, timely, top workmanship, honest, hard working and nice. Coco completed the job bid plus cleaned out the gutters which they found were full of debris from a prior roofer job (not Coco). They did all of the work bid plus more for the original bid price. They were conscientious of my multitude of plants around the house and my three dogs. They proposed relevant fixes and did the job in a timely manner. An excellent contractor. Iwill hire them again!!!!

I took the afternoon off to meet contractor at my home to get quote for interior/exterior painting and some general maintenence work. It was a significant amount of work that I was interested in completing before summer. I chose this contractor because of his Angie's List rating. I took time to explain the scope of work I was interested in having performed in a thorough walk-thru. Contractor committed to getting me a quote soon. Over a month later and I've heard and received nothing. A wasted afternoon for me. I would have accepted a call saying he was too busy to accept the job or that the job was too far to drive to in Metro East but no follow-up is in bad form. Quality of work and cost is only as good as reliability, I guess.

We priced out several companies and they were not the lowest and not the highest. They were local. They were here. It is a family-owned operation. They were very diligent, and I thought very good. I was completely satisfied with them, but in retrospection, when you are six months out, I do see some things that they missed but it was very minor. I would say that they are quite reputable and very easy to deal with. It was like a father and four sons.

They did a fine job. The experience was great, they were very professional, punctual and quick.

They were initially quite responsive, taking my call immediately and stating they would come take a look at the project within three days. Well, unfortunately three days became two weeks before I was called back. The owner then came to the property, and he was nice and easy to talk to at that point. We then got his proposal, and it was more than double the price of every other proposal we received (and we've become very thorough with estimates since joining Angie's List - we get no less than four estimates on every project and mostly from top rated Angie's List companies). The whole process was disappointing, and we obviously did not choose to proceed with their services.

They actually referred me to someone else who I was very happy with so he was helpful. He called almost immediately after I submitted the request. It was within the hour. He did not come out; we just spoke on the phone. He was very professional.

I saw Coco and Sons advertising in Angie's List book, which comes out often in the mail. I called several painters and Chris came out, talked about our home, (24 years old) problems and paint job. He gave the best qualified, honest, reasonable bid. He mailed his bid. Infact, I think he also called me. I signed the agreement and he was able to begin the painting earllier than expected. Coco and Sons are punctual, polite and took care of business. The family treats one another with respect. When they noticed any rotten wood problems with the trim etc...they notified us and remedied the problem. We heard they are also carpenters....lucky for us! They took care of our deck flooring issues, cleaned and stained the deck. The whole job was done in one week. We would hire Coco and Sons again for our home.

Their charges were high. When they gave us the quote, I thought the price was fair because they said it would take a day and a half of painting. When it was all done, they had worked for only five hours, and they did not clean-up to my specifications. The clean-up job was shoddy, and one thing which we had agreed upon in the job that was to be fixed, was not fixed. I probably would not use them again in the future.

They did a great job. They were very thorough & neat.

He was very friendly and explained everything. Customer service was great. His responsiveness was excellent. His price was too high. The estimated price was $5000. He was professional. I would absolutely contact him for an estimate in the future.

Chris came on a weekend to make an inspection and quote. He and his crew (family!) came exactly on time as promised on Monday with the paint already bought. They put drops everywhere they walked, as well as where they painted. Looks great. They even came back a second day as it started to rain so they could not finish th door repair. Highly recommended, and I would definitely hire them again.

Called them for an estimate, did not hear back. Called a second time and left a message. Got a return call that day from a lady who said they were sorry that my first call had not been returned. Chris Coco showed up that Saturday AM and looked at the job, received the bid in the mail that next Tuesday. Told them to go ahead and get it done which Chris did. He also replaced some rotted particle board my my home's exterior. I'm a happy camper.
