Marcia did call the next day, but not to confirm a time, but to tell me she already had a technician onsite and even though nobody was there to open the door, she was going to charge me the service call fee. I was surprised but trying to be accommodating and not wanting to waste a technician's time nor my money, I called my wife to drive to the location and open the door. The technician called later, saying he found wiring on the outdoor a/c unit incorrectly connected, which he corrected, but still the thermostat was not working and he would have to pick one up and return the next day. He did confirm the thermostat was still in warranty, but I would need to pay $275, plus about another hours labor ($95) to install the thermostat. I felt it was a little high to NOT have it fixed, and wondered how the system worked for 2 years with incorrectly connected wiring, but I didn't push it. The next day, another technician came out to install the thermostat which DID cause the unit to start working again. But now I owed another $237.50!!! 2 1/2 hours!! I called Marcia and asked, "What the heck?" She told me I was being charged for thier $95 dollar an hour technician to drive downtown and pick up the part and ALSO labor to return the old part later since it was under warranty. I said I could have sent a taxi or courier for a lot less and expressed I was not happy for not being told about all this EXTRA labor the privious day when I was called by the technican. Marcia did comeback after talking to Tom and removed 3/4 hour labor, She said Tom OK'ed it, "Since we can return the part the next time we drive down there." Duh!!??? Would you really have made a special trip??? Overall... I felt the company was only looking out for themselves and covering their lack of professionalism, "Customer comes last" 1. The original request I called with included the information of a "dead" Goodman thermostat, under warranty. Why not have the parts on the truck at first visit? 2. Technician showed up onsite without calling first and confirming the visit was actually going to occur. This is where I probably should have said... never mind, "Your there without calling me and confirming, it's NOT my nickel." But I tried to help out and had my wife drive down to the building and open the doors. 3. What wires were "wired worng" while the unit worked perfectly for previous the two years, since new installation? Is this common? I'm not sure. But apparently the system only started working again after the thermostat was replaced, which we knew in the very beginning was not working... AND was not on the technician's truck.??? I since have hired a different A/C Service company through Angie?s Deals to perform routine inspections on two of my other properties and was happily relieved to find a company that treated me fairly in return.
Description of Work: Called and asked for a service call to investigate a 2 year old heating system where the digital thermostat looked dead and the system was not turning on. Was told by Marcia that she may be able to send someone the next day, but would call me first and confirm. She did inform me there would be an $85 service call. She never called back to confirm the visit, the next call I got was after the technician was onsite.

This member called for service for his church for a 2 Year old unit.I told him he would be better of using the company that put it in.He said he had problems with the company.I told him the part would probably under warranty but he would have to pay labor.I asked if someone would be at the church and he said they would be there all day and we need not call him because he was not going to be there. We arrived at the property and no one was there. We called him and he called his wife to meet us. He was charged for us to sit and wait. The unit needed a new thermostat and was also wired wrong. It is a two stage unit and was only wiring for single stage. He was charged for us to go get the part, which had to come from the Manufacture who is honoring the warranty, and for us to install. We cannot stock every thermostat for every application on our trucks, there are many styles and models. We have been in business for over 30 years with thousands of satisfied customers and take pride in everything we do.We call all of our customers before going to the call unless they set up some thing different like he did.

Unusually high temperatures in spring caused us to turn on our air conditioning early. The central air would cool but not all the way to the temp we set the thermostat to. Total Comfort advertised in our neighborhood flyers and had good ratings. After reading the reviews on Angie's list, I scheduled them for a Friday and asked that they come after 10am. The scheduler was very nice and worked with me to set a time range when I would have someone available at home (turned out to be me). On the day of service the weather had turned cold. The appointment was between 10am - 2pm. I had thought she said between 10am - 12pm so I called as it got closer to noon and they hadn't shown up. I was told that the temperature had to be above 50 degrees to assess the unit properly and they were waiting for the weather to warm up. I would have liked to know that up front, but when I told her I was hoping to leave the house for awhile she told me she would have the serviceman call 30 minutes before he arrived so I could get home to meet him. He didn't call me until about 3pm and arrived around 3:30p. I didn't really mind him arriving later than expected but would have appreciated it if they had proactively contacted me to let me know instead of me having to contact them. Once the service man arrived he was very efficient, thorough and went the extra mile by cleaning my whole unit. The air conditioning unit is working as it should and I'm very happy.

My furnace was going out I called Total and they were able to send someone right over. He was very nice and professional he checked my furnace was able to try a quick fix that will hopefully get through the rest of the season. But recommended that I look into getting a new system. To fix the two major problems that are going out on my system are costly to replace and the furnace is extremely old and even if I did the major repairs there are no guarantees that the system is going to last anyway. This is not something that did not surprise me, but I really appreciated the fact that he cleaned out and fixed what he could without costing an arm or leg to try and get me though the rest of the cold season and look into the possiblity of cost of replacing the whole system.

We performed service on her heater on 3-10-2011. We cleaned the furnace and found no problems. Customer said her house was dusty, which was not from the furnace. We performed service to clean her A/C unit on 6-16-2011 and everything was ok. Customer complained about house being dusty again. The filters were changed at each service. The dust is not coming from the units.

It was a great experience and I'm glad we called them. We will have them back to service the a/c and furnace from now on. The service call was reasonable at $65 and we got $30 off the work that was done over and above that call. The total bill came to $85 which we thought was very reasonable. Doug, the service guy was pleasant and efficient. He took a few minutes to explain what had been wrong and was easy to understand. We didn't mind having him in our house.
Description of Work: Our furnace wasn't heating the house. We called these guys and they said they could come out today. They called us back about 40 minutes later and asked if they could come right over. The technician, Doug, arrived soon after, diagnosed the problem quickly, fixed it, changed the filter, and was all done in about 30 minutes.

During the July heat wave, our A/C broke. Once we told Total Comfort our inside temp was in the mid-90s, they set up an appt for the next day & pre-booked an opening for the following day to have our A/C replaced. They didn't try to sell us a new furnace w/ the A/C, which was greatly appreciated since we knew we didn't need one. The two technicians arrived promptly after calling to confirm appt time. They did a great job & cleaned up after themselves. They also replaced the thermostat. We highly recommend them.

I would recommend Total Comfort to anyone. They gave us a GREAT price. Scheduled the installation very quickly. They showed up right on time. They were very polite, very quiet, and worked hard. They were very neat and cleaned everything up. No messes. They took the time to show me how to use the programmable thermostats. They put in two furnaces and two a/c units in one day. I couldn't be happier. Best experience I have ever had with a contractor. A++++++++++ in my opinion.

The owner was very upfront and honest regarding the scope of work. He was willing to answer all my questions and go over all replacement/repair options. He talked about the overall long-term value instead of just the initial costs of a new AC unit. There was no pressure to buy the most efficient unit and he also went over all current rebates and tax incentives and he helped me weigh those factors into the decision on what type of AC unit to have installed.

The tech who did today's tune-up took about an hour and a half to thoroughly clean our outside condensers and to do all the other maintenance, checking the freon, etc. Their price for tune-ups is better than our previous service company: For $240 per year for a service contract, they tune-up two air conditioners and 2 furnaces. (For one furnace and one air conditioner, it would be $130 for a year's worth of tune-ups, according to their contract.) They also now leave air filters with us to last until the next tune-up. Marcia, who runs their office, is friendly and easy to work with when making an appointment. We have used Total Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning for two and a half years now. Over this time they have installed two furnaces for us (one in our basement and one in our attic) and they do our furnace and air conditioning tune-ups. They know the local codes and got the required permits for the furnace installations (unlike our previous service company, who said they would but didn't) and they gave us the information that we needed to get the work inspected when it was complete. The owner who we worked with, Ken Ross, was responsive and accessible and answered all of our questions when we were getting estimates for the furnaces. He also gave us all the information we needed to get rebates and tax credits for our purchases.

My sales rep, Bill Kiel, was very professional. He returned my calls promptly. Since it was a rental property I didn't want to inconvenience my tenant with a variety of contractors making appointments to bid. Bill was able to give me a ballpark figure of what the job may cost before he came out to bid. He was the only contractor of the 4 I spoke with that was able to offer me a 10 year warranty on labor and parts. The turnaround time from when I accepted the bid and job completion was very quick. A few days later Marcia called to ensure I was happy with the work and collect payment. She was very nice and professional. Great company overall to work with.

Everything went very smoothly. Mr. Ross and all of his workers were very friendly and courteous.
Description of Work: Mr. Ross showed up promptly for the appointment on the 22nd. He gave me the costs for good, better and best HVAC replacement systems, and the deal on the best was too good to pass up, and it also included a new hot water tank and installation. They arrived on time and finished at the estimated completion time. One of the servicemen showed me all the basics of the system and how to operate the new thermostat. I have not tried the central air yet, but they showed me how to turn it on and I could feel the cool air. I would recommend you give this company the opportunity to bid on your project.

They gave me an option to have them come out over the weekend for an expensive price. Our air conditioner quit cooling. We had more Freon put in the air conditioner and met with three different companies and selected Total Comfort. Their bid was the lowest and the owner answered all of our questions. The Sunday before we were to have the new system installed was Father's Day. Our old air conditioner ran out of Freon again and it was supposed to get to 100 degrees. Someone from Total Comfort came out and added more Freon to get us through to the next day and did not charge extra for this service. The workers arrived on time the following morning. They were friendly, professional and respectful. They had the air back on by 1:00p.m. that day and were finished with everything by 4:00 p.m. the same day. They cleaned up their mess and took our old unit away. The only part of the day that I wished had been different was that the top of our freezer was slightly damaged with dings and scrapes. The iron was dropped on top of it and it was scratched from them setting their tools on it. Had I known what to expect I could have covered it and made sure everything was out of their way. We also had to replace the door to the laundry room. We had a humidifier installed and the locaton of the humidifier prevented the current door from opening all the way. Overall, the experience went smoothly.

I received a bid on a new furnace and AC from Ken Ross. He followed up with me several times after the bid. I also contacted him with a few questions.
