Total Comfort literally broke my perfectly working furnace and wants me to pay for a new one. They came over for a tune up on a perfectly working furnace and it never came on again. These people are scam artists. Use literally any other company. Also the 2nd person they sent over was not wearing his mask properly. Do not do business with these people.

We maintained the furnace on 10/22/20 and left the furnace working. On 10/24/20 your furnace stopped working because your inducer motor stopped working. We did not and cannot break a motor. The motor at the time of maintenance checked out within the ratings. We do not want you to buy a new furnace. You should replace the part because the unit is only 8 years old. The part is $325.00 We have been in business for over 37 years and have not scammed anyone.

The installation was fine. It was installed 1/24/18. However, this Sunday thermostat quit working. I called the Company that installed it and was happy they could come out to fix it. Sunday was a hot day. It turns out there was nothing wrong with the thermostat, a couple of wires coming in the furnace from the air conditioner were burned and blew fuse. They repaired the problem and I paid them thinking Total Comfort would reimburse me, since it was there fault. Evidently I should have paid the show up fee to the company that came out to fix the thermostat, send them on their way. Call Total Comfort and wait in the heat for them to come out and fix the melted wires that caused the problem. Of course It should be okay with me because the lady did tell me to have a blessed day after she refused to work with me.

We bought our AC and Furnace from Total Comfort about 7 years ago. That experience was a good one. I thought Total Comfort had educated me well on the products available for our house. In fact we were sold on this specific AC unit based on having the best warranty as well as efficiency and accepted the extra cost this added. However what was never mentioned when making this substantial purchase was an available maintenance program. Now 7 year after the purchase the capacitor goes out. Luckily, we think, we have a 10 year parts warranty. However we are told the warranty is void. The Total Comfort service employee translates one part of a sentence in the warranty that mentions "improper maintenance" as actually meaning that we need to have someone come out from Total Comfort every year to look at our AC for the warranty to remain good. So who is to say if maintenance is once a year or twice a year or what? I guess that answer is Total Comfort. It seems Total Comfort is the official translator of it's own products warranties. Very convenient. If Total Comfort is going to use their products' warranties as sales tool they should at the very least offer their customers the opportunity to stay within the parameters of that said warranty. Instead by being negligent from the initial sale they set up the service staff to be the bad guys. And by the way the employee that came to fix our AC played that role to a T. On top of the $50 for him to come out he reminded my wife as she was talking on the phone with me about the warranty that we are still being charged his $25 per 15 minute rate to have our conversation! Nice. And to tighten the screw a little bit more he refused the $30 off service coupon that was/is being promoted on the Total Comfort website because it was expired! So beware of Total Comfort. The company is undermining the quality of the products they sell at the cost and inconvenience of the customer.

I had Total Comfort install brand new central a/c and furnace. Their price was very good, the technician was professional, and the installation was fast and great! Bill was very nice and helpful throughout the process, which only took a few days from quote to project finish! I would highly recommend this company.

They charged a lot. They did the best they could. I think if I would have spent more money and went with a different person I would have gotten a different result. I would not use them again I would upgrade. I would also ask more questions about the unit.

He was reasonable about it. He was very professional and friendly.
Description of Work: We have a pretty old central air unit, they determined it was the motor that went bad. He gave us options to either change the motor for us or to get a whole new system. He ended up changing the motor. He also put a new thermostat in.

The AC stopped working in July. We received bids from 3 installers to replace our 20-year-old furnace and AC. The bids for a 16 SEER 2.5 ton AC and gas furnace were $4300 with Comfortmaker by Total Comfort $5359 with Carrier installed by Kirkwood Heating and AC $6964 with Carrier installed by Vogel Total Comfort was able to install promptly and the installation was prompt and professional. The new unit is working well. We can recommend Total Comfort highly.

Very good work. But they charged me $200 for the Easy Seal, which I found on Amazon.com for $75, with free shipping. I understand a little markup, but a 150% markup for a commercial product seems extremely excessive to me, and I won't recommend this company.
Description of Work: HVAC check. Found leak in AC system, added 1 Super Concentrate Easy Seal, then added 4 pounds of freon.

Disappointing!!! Wow!! Where do I start? Here goes, the representative Mr. Bill Kiel from the company called me and set up an appointment. The very first appointment was cancelled and I wasn't notified by anyone, I was thinking earlier in the day that it was kinda strange that they didn't call and confirm the appointment. After 30 minutes of waiting pass the appointment time I called the representative and was informed that someone should have called me from the company to cancel because he was ill. Okay, things happen that was fine. We rescheduled for another day which was actually the holiday January 19, 2015 he did show up for the appointment. He goes the RED FLAGS!! When Mr. Kiel arrived, the first thing I notice was he had had nothing in his hands. NO PEN, NO PAPER, MEASURING TAPE ETC!!! I did think, that was rather strange because no matter how long you have been in business it is impossible to remember every single customer and the details of all the work that is needed. Just my OPINION!!! as we talked about my home I did mention to him about if he needed to do measurements are note taking and he just laughed and said other customers had ask him the same questions and, what do you think he said? Just what I said earlier because the time he has been in business he doesn't have to write down anything he would remember this all. REALLY NOW? EVEN A CUSTOMER NAME, ADDRESS, MEASUREMENTS, EVERYTHING?? RIGHT!!! The service I was requesting was for the installation of a new furnace and air conditioner combination to be installed on the third floor of my home. There were some other concerns as well. Mr. Kiel asked me how much did I pay for the installation of my first unit and how would I being paying for the new install. Now, I couldn't understand what the installation price of my first unit had to do with the work I was requesting from him considering the new unit was going to be in another part of my home for my third floor and also requesting information on how I would pay for the service before he has even given me a quote. Let me also say during this conversation he assured me I would be please with his work and before he left gave me his business card and asked if I could give him a few days and he would get back with me. Well wouldn't you guess it has been 2 WEEKS haven't heard from him or any representative from his company. I actually call his telephone on his card before writing this review and he did answer and did say he was Bill. I told him I'm sorry I was trying to contact someone else. Wow !!! He is ALIVE I could have respected him more if he just would admitted if he maybe needed to come back because he FORGOT MY INFORMATION. Oh I'm sorry he probably forgot my telephone number and name. Well that's my story sorry it took me so long and I apologize for any bad grammar and punctuation I have been working 10 hours days. I hope this will help someone else not to waste their time,on to the next company. UPDATE!!! I received a call from Mr. Kiel the next morning, and he stated that he didn't forget me he was just waiting on a quote for a part on my current furnace. Wow!!! I still would have thought that at least a curtesy call would have been appropriate to update me. I still didn't get any estimate on the separate installation for the NEW FURNACE AND CENTRAL AIR SYSTEM for my third floor. Now, I'm really asking myself, What if I would use this company and for some reason a part is needed in the future. How LONG would it take for them to fix the unit?

The first appointment was cancelled due to illness, but the customer was called earlier in the day to reschedule. There was no answer until late afternoon. The call was rescheduled on MLK day per customer`s request. The estimator was not carrying a pen, paper, or measuring tape in his hand when he arrived. This is because, it was in his briefcase along with all the tools and brochures needed for all job quotes. The estimator didn`t need the customer`s information because he already had it. She had given it when she scheduled the call. The customer escorted the estimator throughout the house and they talked about certain concerns with the existing system and how to remedy the problems. The estimator then proceeded to strategize a plan for the work to be performed on the second and third floor. The estimator then went to the third floor and proceeded to get the necessary measurements for the installation while the customer remained on the second floor. Then they proceeded to the basement to inspect the original system. Upon inspection, the estimator found that there was many code violations with the install. The estimator did ask the cost of that system to help the customer understand that we take permits out for everything that we install and do the work according to the code and she should steer away from contractors that don`t take permits out to prevent any more problems. The customer was asked about how she was going to pay for the work in case she needed any financing. The estimator made a number of calls on 1-21-2015 but there was no answer to ask some questions regarding the equipment. He assumed she would call him back after her long work schedule when she was available to talk. The question needed to be answered in order to complete a proposal and that is why no proposal was given. The estimator also called again on 2-4-2015 several times with no answer. We pride ourselves in satisfying thousands of customers over the years. The inspectors for the city and county love our work and pass all of our jobs the first time. It was obvious that her choice in her first contractor wasn`t that way with all of the code violations and she is upset we brought this to her attention.

It went great. Mr. Ross handled the bid and answered all of my questions. His technical team of Doug and Neil installed the new heating system and cooling system and hauled away the old one (s).Now is the time for a new furnace - with the rebates you cannot go wrong. Shop around, Total Comfort was my choice and will be for the future. Their team is professional and timely and get the job done right away.

I got a call saying that Bill was helping someone with a furnace and his foot was impacted, so he would have to go to the ER based on company policy, so they had to cancel the appointment. So we scheduled another appointment and I called saying I was going to be late, and he said he'd just look at the A/C unit and give me an estimate. So I never received an estimate and I never reached back out to them to get it. The employees were nice, but they never followed through with the estimate.
Description of Work: I found them on Angie's List and called after they had closed. Shortly afterwards, I got a phone call back from Ken. Bill was scheduled to come out for an estimate on July 28th.

On the evening of Aug 27, I noticed that my A/C did not sound normal. I checked and discovered that the unit was "icing" and air coming through the vents was not cool. I shut it down and at 8:00 AM the next day called Total Comfort. I selected them because we had an Amana unit and had been very satisfied with its performance. The receptionist,Marcia, was very helpful and we were fortunate because by 9:00AM, a service person was at my house checking the A/C. I was told the Evaporator had a leak but he was able to top off the unit and get it running again. Almost two years ago, a service person had made the same diagnosis and told me that the next time it happened, to consider replacing the unit. The weather forecasts during that time were predicting several very warm, uncomfortable days. My wife is not in good health and the thought of going without A/C was something I did not want to consider. While assisting her the next morning, we both heard a loud noise and the A/C shut down. I went downstairs and noticed the circuit breaker had tripped. Another call to Total Comfort and again, Marcia had a technician at our house in a very timely manner. The service person solved the problem. High current load had caused insulation on the wires to melt and another part needed to be replaced. He also said they could not guarantee the job because of the unit's condition. At this point, I agreed to hear what K. Ross, the owner, had to offer as replacement for my Furnace and A/C. He arrived and made what seemed to me to be a reasonable and timely offer. I accepted the offer and arrangements were made to replace my units the following Friday, Aug 5, 2014. I only had to hope the unit would not fail during the coming week. It did not and on that Friday, service people from Total Comfort replaced my Furnace, A/C and Thermostat. My wife and I have been very pleased with the effort of all of the employees and the owner that were involved in solving our problem.
Description of Work: Total Comfort made two very timely service calls and after the second one, I accepted their offer and purchased a new Heating and A/C unit for my house.

I used a coupon off of Angie's List for this inspection. I actually really liked them a lot and I plan to use them again. What I liked best about them was the guy was not in a hurry. I've had people come out in the past for a routine check that is going to cost $75 and it almost seems like they are trying to put in the hour really quick and if they can cut down the hour, all the better for them! This guy came out and he took his time, looked through everything I asked him to look through. Part of our air conditioner, too, because we had just installed our air conditioner the year before and even though the air conditioner wasn't on in January, he took the time to look through it. He also, what I really liked, was he took the time to explain how things work to me. I know some customers wouldn't be too interested in hearing how the heating system works. But I definitely wanted to understand what was happening - when it kicked on and when it wouldn't kick on. And he took the time to explain all that. He broke it down step by step. I had one part of my heating system that wasn't working exactly right. I asked him out it worked, he explained how it works and told me how much it would cost if he fixed it. I asked him how hard it would be to fix it myself if I got the part and he told me I could do it in 5 minutes. That kind of honesty is rare.
