 + -1 moreThe technician was due to arrive 11-11:30 a.m. When he didn't show by noon I called the office. They contacted the technician and called me back stating that his last job had run over. I wish they'd called me, instead of me calling them. I could have accomplished a few things on my To Do list. The technician arrived at 1pm. I had another appointment at that hour and had to juggle them. That said, he did a good job as far as I was able to tell. In other words, I couldn't budge the safe without a loader. However, the technician bumped the price quoted me after he'd finished the job saying that since he had to drill holes in the safe it took and extra half an hour. In my opinion that was bad form if not somewhat nefarious. Nothing was ever said when I made the appointment that there might be extra charges. Rather than argue I paid him.
Description of Work: Bolt a safe to a masonry floor.

 + -1 moreThe locksmith was very prompt and courteous. Changed out four locks for me in about an hour. I had no problem with the locksmith accepting the $10 Angie's List coupon. I would heartily recommend this company to anyone. The only reason I gave a 'B' in the price area is because the cost seems a little high to me ($85 service call charge plus $15 per lock) and there was a separate charge of $15.00 to pick the lock for which I did not have the key. This overall cost evaluation is purely subjective on my part and I don't really claim to know the going market place rate, so please consider that for what it is.
Description of Work: Changed four locks. Also had to pick one lock as I did not have the key for it.

We were having all of the locks re-keyed in our house -- which was a lot of locks. He suggested the best,most efficient and least expensive way of doing what we needed. He and his co-worker did all of it quickly and efficiently and everything works great. He made me all the extra keys and I needed too. They did a great job.

Description of Work: I had a mortise lock and read reviews that this company and Russ in particular did an excellent job in repairing these types of locks. It was actually under the estimate I got over the phone. (I used the Angie's List discount) The work was excellent, Russ was courteous, professional and quick to repair. I would definitely use again.

 + -1 moreThe house has an old (original) door with a complicated lock mechanism, and we were worried about ruining it by replacing with a new lock. But the Sure Lock rep, Russ, knew all about these mortise locks, and explained how they work. He was able to rekey it so the ornate handle and brass locking system are still intact. He also explained some extra precautions we should take to safeguard the other doors in the house. If you have an older home with a mortise lock, definitely ask for Russ. All in all, very pleased with Sure Lock & Key -- if we ever get locked out, I know who to call!

 + -1 moreI was greeted well, service was performed well, then we went to checking out. My issue with Sure Lock & Key:When I went to check out I advised them I had coupon (which was one of the main reasons I chose this company) and I needed to get it out of the truck. Two gentlemen were helping me the more senior of the two who stated "those coupons are for mobile service only" I said, are you sure because I didn't see anything on the coupon that state this point. The coupon only states 10% off all Angie's List members" no other terms or conditions other than the 12/01/2012 expiration date. I didn't double check the coupon at the time, but later when I did I was very disappointed to see there were no terms stating that this was for mobile services. Both gentlemen were very nice, the senior one seemed very rushed, but very nice with me until this point. Then he seemed so quick to throw out my coupon. I've been in business myself and unless there is some glaring issue or an outrageous request, I honored it. I have experienced this with other businesses - even to the point of stating "the coupons are for this, but we will honor it in this case" or sometime to that effect. This is why I give them a C over all and C for professionalism. I feel the whole transaction could have been handled better. These guys seem very top notch and look like they know what they are doing - I just came away with a "bad taste in my mouth" by them not honoring the Angie's List coupon. Particularly when it does not state anything about only to be used for mobile service.
Description of Work: I purchased a new vehicle and needed a copy of the car key and the missing key for the tool box on the truck. I saw that they were able to copy automotive keys with chips, which my Nissan Titan had. They were able to make the copy of my truck key, and the copy worked well. The took a look at the truck box and said the could re-key or build a key for it but they would need to pull the cylinder. They advised contacting the tool box manufacturer, since this would most likely be the least expensive route - I was fine with that.

 + -1 moreWe had an emergency when our 2 year old daughter locked herself in a bedroom that we could not get opened. This occurred at around 9:30 PM. I called this place because they claimed to have 24 hour emergency service. I was greeted with a voicemail where I left a message describing the situation. I never received a return call that night or at any time since. Fortunately, I was able to find another company that claimed 24 hour emergency service and was able to uphold this claim.
Description of Work: No services were ever performed because we never received a call back in an emergency situation.

Description of Work: Basically, I looked up locksmiths and Sure Lock and Key had numerous reports, all graded "A". Called the number provided at 10-1030 in the evening to inquire about having someone come out for a lock issue(garage door lock) possibly the next day but would have maybe used their service that evening depending on price estimate considering I did need to get to my car which was in the garage with the lock issue . Left a message for someone to return my call either that evening or in the morning, never received a call back that evening nor in the morning. I ended up contacting Sure Lock and Key later in the morning inquiring on why my call was not returned and the owner stated that he had no idea why his technician "on call" did not return the call but stated that the technician would have had no idea if anybody could come and help my situation the next morning because he does not know the schedule. I told the owner that it would have been nice for someone to at least return the call in the morning to let me know that info. or to at least acknowledge that a customer wanted their business.The website clearly states "24 hour emergency service available" but the owner stated there is certain limits with that; I wonder what kind of limits? If you need lockout service you call a locksmith, if you need one late at night or in the middle of the night then you call one with "24 hour service available" and expect a call back. Long story short, I ended up with A-All Lock and Key Co. who came out in the morning promptly and got me into my garage without any problem, they even made me an extra garage door key.

 + -1 moreWe went into the Surelock office on Manchester and arrainged the appointment for the following day (Saturday). Everyone in the office was very nice .On Saturday Russ was great - installed all of our locks and adjusted the strikeplate so that the lock was able to lock a lot easier.
