Description of Work: BUYER BEWARE OF ANY ADVERTISEMENT ON ANGIES LIST BY MR. ELECTRIC! | |In February, 2015, I responded to an add on Angies list for $300.00 electrical service for $100.00. I needed a ceiling fan wired and thought this would cover the cost. WRONG. Here is what to expect from this outfit. When they arrive at your home, instead of doing the job needed, they first must inspect your entire wiring. I had just had a Contractor put a rec. room in our basement and this included the Contractor putting in a new electric box plus they did all the wiring in the basement. The Electrican for Mr. Electric examined the electric box and stated it did not meet the requirements. Not being an electrician, I took him at his word and the cost ended up being a total of $1,084.65. This also included a whole house Surge Protector which the electrician STATED would protect our entire house from surge increases including lighting strikes. He also advised that we would have up to $100,000 on items damaged by a surge or lighting strike. WRONG. We had a lighting strike doing in excess of $3,000.00 worth of damage. THE WHOLE HOUSE SURGE PROTECTOR DID NOT WORK OR PROTECT OUR HOME FROM DAMAGE AS ADVERTISED. When we contacted Mr. Electric regarding the problem with the whole house surge protector. They set up an appointment three (3) days later and thirty (30) minutes prior to their arrival time, they called and advised that they would not come out unless we paid them to come and inspect the problem with the surge protector. |On Angies List they advertise this Whole House Surge Protector for $669.00 In this advertisement it clearly states, "DEAL ALSO INCLUDES A LIMITED $25,000 PROTECTED EQUIPMENT WARRANTY AND A LIFETIME PRODUCT (PARTS AND LABOR) WARRANTY." | |Further in this advertisement it states, "THE REAL DEAL: WHEN LIGHTING STRIKES, IT CAN LEAD TO POWER SURGE IN YOUR HOME. PROTECT YOUR VALUABLE APPLIANCES, TV'S AND OTHER EXPENSIVE ELECTRONICS BY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS OFFER." | |Mr. Electric cannot be trusted on anything they say or advertise. After my experience with this company, I am now convinced that I did not need any of the work they said I needed on my electric box. When I filed a claim for the lighting strike, (1) they refused to come out without us paying them, however, this is contrary to what their advertisement states on Angies list as quoted above. (2) When you file a claim, they state they have nothing to do with the claim and they refer you to a Company called EMERSON NETWORK POWER located in Clearwater, Florida. EMERSON NETWORK REFUSED TO COVER ANY OF THE DAMAGE EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY YOU AE COVERED UP TO $100,000. OR $25,000.00 AS INDICATED IN THE ANGIES LIST ADVERTISEMENT. Bottom line, they take the position that if you have homeowners insurance, they only will CONSIDER paying what your homeowners does not pay and they further state, THEY WILL NOT COVER YOUR DEDUCTIABLE. In our case, that is $1,000.00. STAY AWAY FROM MR ELECTRIC, BECAUSE THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU AND YOU CAN NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU, ESPECIALLY THEIR WHOLE HOUSE SURGE PROTECTOR.

Description of Work: Never showed up for the appointment or called to say that he wouldn't be there. Appt was for a Wednesday and on Friday they called and wanted to make appt for that day since they ""had time now"". Told them to never mind.

Description of Work: We needed wiring work and lighting redone in our barn and garage to make it safer and more functional. Did exactly what we wanted and made some great recommendations that we went with. Will use them again and again!

Description of Work: "They were contracted to do $200 worth of work for $99. My husband has Alzheimer's and is no longer able to do little jobs around the house. Since we weren't sure what was wrong with our porch lights not working, we agreed to spend $160 of the $200 for their ""Diagnostic work up."" It took them about 5-10 minutes to determine that a piece of light bulb had broken off inside the porch light that shorted out the lights. They did take the porch lights off the side of the house. I had previously purchased two new lights that needed to be put up in place of the non-working ones. Since there was $40 left of the $200 worth of service and the fact they had only worked for 10 min., I thought that would make for about $200 worth of work---maybe a little bit more. They then said it would cost an additional $340 to install the two lights in addition to the $99 I had already paid. They said they had no control over the companies stated fees. I was flabbergasted at the price and I certainly couldn't afford it being on a fixed income. So I had to decline. They tried to convince me to have an additional ""Safety Check"" done to make up the $40 remaining of the $200 I contracted for. I was so upset (and almost crying). I declined this additional service. They WERE both very polite and professional. They put on shoe covers before coming into our home. After they left a friend and I decided to try to install the porch lights ourselves..... Which we did after watching an online U-tube video. Took about half an hour to install both of them. Mr. Electric was WAY too expensive for my budget. I feel like I threw away $99."

They both took the time to explain to me the exact nature of the problem and then resolve it on the spot. They will be my electrical solution in the future. I would highly recommend this company.

Description of Work: Service on a Briggs & Stratton generator system was preformed . Change of oil, spark plugs, and parts needed. Even cleaned out the generator inside and out. This also incuded a check up in 6 months.
