Way overpriced. I am shellshocked at the price to service a fan motor. To replace the motor is nearly as much as it would cost to replace the entire unit. I paid the 70 bucks and sent him on his way. Hate losing the 70 dollars but I should have paid more attention to the reviews. My bad. The guy spent 5 minutes looking at the fan, the next 20 minutes was inspecting my fuse box then writing up a bunch of optional upcharges on notebook paper.

***I'd like to remind everyone who has been wronged by Mr. Electric and owner Nathanael Toms that you have rights as a consumer. I encourage you to do as I have and file a complaint with the BBB and the office of the Attorney General (links below). You deserve to be treated fairly in business, and it's only when we stand up to these deceptive practices that a change will be made. [*** Link removed ***] [*** Link removed ***] SUMMARY: Inhumane, greedy swindlers. Steer clear. They present well on the phone and have lots of availability, but they use that as a reason to aggressively overcharge for the actual services. Charged us $387 for a quote (labeled it a “diagnostic fee”) and to move an existing outlet up half an inch. The technician talked me out of doing 90% of the work he quoted. Furthermore, he didn't even raise the outlet as high as I wanted it. I had to talk him into doing it at all. He originally suggested just cutting the bottom off an outlet cover so it would fit. I left to get my kid from school and came back to a $387 bill for 15 minutes of work. I told the technician that seemed awfully steep and he said it was because he ran a diagnostic. I couldn’t argue the price because I was in a vulnerable position with my two small children present and didn’t feel comfortable declining to pay that amount with a strange man in my house, so I wrote the check and signed. After over week of emailing back and forth with a manager, we were offered a $100 refund. We are concerned that the company stands by their deceptive practices, so we refused the money and told them we would be taking further action to bring awareness to their deceptive pricing as this is illegal behavior. I looked through the Mr. Electric reviews on every site that offers them, and blindsiding hardworking people with a phony $300+ fee for a quote and labeling it a “diagnostic fee” seems to be a pricing strategy for this company. We’ve learned our lesson and are sounding the alarm to help others avoid being cheated out of their money.

Great, They located the problem quickly and repaired it. At our request, they recommended improvements to insure safety and bring the system to code. They dressed very neatly and cleaned up after work in each area. They were very courteous and respectful, answered all questions and provided detail on each change they recommended. We accepted most of their recommendations and feel much safer in our home. The service desk set a high bar - the lady who took our original call was great, I figured if those who came to do the work were half as nice and helpful as she was, we would be happy. Turns out that all the people we worked with are just as nice and helpful.

When the tech came into the house and heard the sound, he immediately said it sounded like a door bell chime transformer. He went into the attic and was up there for about an hour, then came back down and said he had installed a new transformer, an $8 part. He pulled the switch plate off and replaced it, then started pushing for a "whole house evaluation", we declined. The bill came in at $468. The average rates for electrical service in our area is $50-$70 per hour. We will not recommend them and will not have them back.

I appreciate your feedback shared here. I would like to reach out to you since you have not actually discussed the work completed with us. I would like to see if we can come to an understanding. We care about your perception of the quality and value offered. It looks like we met with your wife who approved the work, and did not actually get to explain the process of locating that buzzing sound and the switch issue with you. I would like to reach out and walk with you to figure out how we can help earn your trust. Nathanael Toms, CEO

I did not contract for services and would never call the company again
Description of Work: The gentleman sent out to give me a bid said "we're not cheap." He wasn't lying or exaggerating one bit. It was a complete house electrical upgrade, but nothing uncommon in North Springfield where houses are older. To be more expensive because a company dies exceptional work is one thing but to be three or four thousand over the average is theft.

Very professional, clean, very likeable guys.
Description of Work: Unwittingly, we had hired an electrician to do work so that the washer and dryer could be run at the same time without blowing a fuse. What we didn't know is he wasn't certified with the city and the power was turned off. Since a freezing storm was coming, we needed electricity so our pipes wouldn't freeze. Mr. Electric was there immediately, and even though they couldn't get everything up to code that day, they supplied us with a gas generator so that our pipes wouldn't freeze.

After trying to contact several recommended electricians and either no response or unable to schedule for several weeks or no after hours available , I was able to immediately talk to a person to schedule after hours appt. My wife and I both work 8 - 5 and most electricians do not offer hours to accomadate working households. Mr Electric has after hours service with minimum charge of $279,but that charge was well worth it to us as working people. The electrician was supposed to call me before arrival, but did not call . That was the only miscue but worked out fine . The electrician was very professional , explained the process ,was very hard working and meticulously worked through the problem and fixed the problem. We will definitely use Mr Electric again and highly recommend . Thank you Sean and Mr Electric !
Description of Work: Tracked down a short in the electrical system which was causing a circuit breaker to trigger off, and the problem left us without light and outlet service for multiple rooms for several days. Electrician meticulously went through each light, outlet and fixed the problem .

The lead Service Professional was Carl Nelson and the second Service Professional involved was Efril Beralde. The work took approximately 4 days. During this time both of the Service people were very courteous and professional. I was kept up to date on the progress and of any issues that they encountered. The Company owner even became involved when an issue requiring his attention was discovered by Carl. Given the scope of the project the minimal time that we were without electricity was not an issue at all. Now we have the ability to add additional circuits as needed and the piece of mind that our Electrical service is safe. In the Electrical service field the old saying "You Get What You Pay For." is definitely true. I am very satisfied with the worked that was performed by the representatives from Mr. Electric of Southwest Missouri.
Description of Work: Performed a complete upgrade and relocation of Electrical panel. This included a new entrance panel and electrical panel including breakers. It also included the upgrade of existing circuits to GFCI as needed, the addition of electrical circuits outside and the addition of wired with battery backup smoke detectors in the bedrooms and a smoke and CO detector in the hallway. In addition a new GFCI circuit was installed in the crawlspace for a sump pump installation. A significant amount of the work was required to bring the 40 year old electrical system up to current electrical code for this area.

Spoke with Sherry at about 9:00 AM. Technician, Efril, arrived at about 9:15 AM the same day. The work was completed by 10:00(including a Home Safety Check-Up). Sherry and Efril were both very professional and friendly and service was provided at a reasonable cost. Efril determined why the receptacle had shorted out and found a new receptacle on his truck that matched the color of the old receptacle so it matches the other receptacles in the room. He wore "booties" to cover his shoes while in the house and put a Mr. Electric doormat outside the front door while he was here to keep our floors clean from any outside debris, dirt, etc. Efril kept the work area clean.

Carl N was the electrician who performed the work. He was very professional. Clean cut and shined shoes. He showed up when he said he would did what he said he would do. He gave good advice about the grounding system during the estimate. He worked diligently to ensure he met the Greene county inspector?s inspection deadline so we would have power back on the same day. He followed up with City Utilities (CU) to have them reconnect electric service when they were delayed. He stayed until CU came and electric service was back on.

After contacting the servicer and setting up a time window of 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. with a 30 minute prior call, they did not call or show up. I contacted the office and was "told" by one of the girls in the office that they had called me to let me know one of the techs was sick that day. Last point of contact from them had been the evening before reminding me of the appointment and they would provide the 30 minute call notification in the morning. They then setup the next appointment for 3:00 that afternoon. At 3:45 I called again inquiring on the tech. Whatever the issue was, the tech did not show up until 4:30 that day. I had already advised the office of what work I was looking to have done, yet the tech was only there for an estimate. In addition to an estimate, they "require" an inspection of your home to look for other issues so that they can up-sell you. The tech struggled to get the pricing down to $517.00, which I thought was high. I did go ahead and approve the work, as I needed to get it done. They setup a time for 2 days later for around 1:00 p.m.. After no call or no show at 3:30 I called the office again and was advised they were not aware. They contacted the tech and called back advising he would be coming out soon. Within another 15 minutes they called back and said he would not be making it out to perform the contracted work. At that point I advised I no longer required their service.

Response from Mr. Electric of Southwest Missouri
Thank you [Member name] for your review of Mr. Electric. At Mr. Electric we always strive to have professional customer service and take care of every customer in a professional manner. When the call comes in to our office we immediately do our best to give you the time that is convenient to your schedule to meet your needs the best way as possible. After our technician came to your home you were given an estimate of what it would cost and no work is ever started until you agree to that amount and sign that you agree to it. If you signed that list (which you did) then you agree to that amount. The day you were scheduled, we did have a technician out ill and when that happens we still try to take care of every customer. Every customer is important to us. We show in our records that you were called and notified that our technician was running behind on schedule and we gave you an estimated time of his arrival for that evening. I'm sorry that we failed in meeting that in a timely manner due to an emergency at the prior appointment. We strive to keep our prices reasonable for the customer and we strive also to communicate with you if there is ever a time that we would be late. The reason you were rescheduled two days later was you needed a part ordered for your repair. There are times that our Electricians run in into some major repair jobs and it conflicts with the schedule and we have to make adjustments as needed. If they would have been on your job and something was a fire hazard or a risk, we would not leave your home until we were assured you were safe. We do this for all our customers. This is why we do our safety checks. The safety checks allows the customer and Mr. Electric to know that we have not left you with a risk of fire and that your family will be safe. This is not to up sale or take advantage of anyone. Mr. Electric was willing to make anything right with you and it was then that you chose to not use our Company. We are sorry you feel that we did not meet your required needs. Mr. Electric apologizes for any disappointment we left from our service that did not meet your need. Thank you for your business.
