We are a Hunter Douglas Gallery Dealer, which means we get the best pricing, specials, and products, and pass that advantage on to you. We have earned the Angie's List Super Service award for the last 4 years (since we started our profile) Our installation team are certified Hunter Douglas Installers. We have a beautiful showroom with full sized samples and/or we will come to you for a free in-home consultation (within a 20 mile radius of our store).

Window treatment, it as been 2 or 3 years since I have done that and the name of the company is Victor Shade Company. They did excellent work and they were great. I wanted to make sure that they got that credit from me. It was back 3 years ago. They have a very great service. They fix window blinds wonderfully. They were great and very timely. They were very good. I give them an 'A' plus. They were about 50 years old blinds. I would use this company again in the future and I referred them.
Description of Work: They performed the repairs on the window blinds. I had 2 different shades repaired. They were repairing and re-webbing vintage finish in blinds.

Everything went well until delivery and installation of the custom shade.The breakfast room door is recessed with 5 inches of wood on the sides. After installation, the shade head rail stuck out too far from the door when we tried to fully open the door. We decided to try out the shade and see if we could live with the shortened access space of about 12 inches. After less than a day I called and asked if there were any other options with a smaller head rail so we could open the door wider and not cause damage to the shade, the door and the wood. The company was very accomodating and did research other options but none of the options worked for me since they still impede the opening of our door. I love Hunter Douglas shades. I just cant use this one since it impedes opening of my door. So, I have purchased a great product, but cannot use it.

I am honestly quite puzzled by the review this customer gave Victor Shade. This customer first contacted me by phone and asked for a ballpark cost to furnish and install a specific shade and color as she already had several of this type of shade and color in her house. After I learned how far away she lived from our store, I informed her that we would normally charge a trip charge. However, I would waive the fee since I had already given her a cost. After measuring and giving her a firm cost, she ordered the shade as well as several samples for a future project, which I did not charge her for. When the shade arrived, I arranged an installation time between 8 & 8:30. There were strong thunderstorms on the day of the installation and subsequent weather related traffic. I did attempt to contact the customer to let her know I would be a little bit late, but the call would not go through due to the weather. I arrived at the customer's house at 8:35 (only 5 minutes past the scheduled time). I apologized and did let her know that I had tried to call and that the weather impacted my arrival time. Once the shade was installed, the customer expressed concern that the head rail projected out too far and impeded the opening of the door. I explained that every shade will have a head rail and that the product she picked had one of the smallest head rails in the industry. (As I stated above, she had several of these shades already in her house). The customer contacted me the next morning to say that she was really not happy with how much the shade prevented the door from opening and asked if there were any alternatives. I told her I would research the options and would call her back in three days as she was going to be out of town for the next 2 days. After researching, I called the customer back and let her know that there was another option, with a similar shade and a different cord option, that would be a slightly narrower head rail. The customer informed me that she had already contacted Hunter Douglas herself and been told the same thing. She then rejected that option. Finally, this customer had signed a contract which stated that she understood the product she was purchasing was a custom-made product, and as such, was nonrefundable and nonreturnable. In spite of this, I did give the customer $100 refund as she was so upset about her purchase. This is not something I normally do. I feel that Victor Shade Company gave this customer A+ service.

First we visited them based on Angie's List reviews and met w/ Scott Segal, the owner who gave us an educational talk on Plantation shutters which we already knew we wanted. We learned a lot from this visit and did not rush us or sales talk us. Rather we felt he gave us a good overview of options, cost considerations and durability. He then gave us a realistic impression of the timing of the service and lead time needed. We then scheduled for him to visit and measure to come up with an estimate. He was prompt, thorough and detailed in his measurements so we put a down payment. The lead time was about 6-8 weeks and finally our products came. Mr. Wilson came to install them. He was amazing, professional, respectful and very detail oriented. It took 2 working days to get done and they we're put in perfectly. As customers we consider ourselves patient and considerate but have little tolerance for failed appointments, multiple excuses or sloppy work. Scott and his team fit and exceeded our expectations wonderfully. We highly recommend them for Service, Quality of product, Quality of installation and Value. Thanks so much Victor Shade for dressing up our house.

You will find their service very customer service oriented from the repair department to the sales department. Sales person came to the house to determine suitable replacement. Everyone is courteous, professional and very efficient. Would recommend this company to anyone.

So I take off an entire afternoon to meet with Scott Victor, the owner. We are building a brand new, custom built 5,000+ sq. ft. home and wanted to get the best window treatments possible for our beautiful new home. I called Monday, April 21st and asked for an appointment the next day, since I was going to be at the house most of the day meeting with other poeple. They can't do it on such short notice, which is totally understandable. So, we schedule an appointment with Scott for 8 days later, the 29th. I am at the house 15 minutes early, just in case he needs directions, since it is a brand new subdivision and the street doesn't show up on some gps's. It's now 20 minutes after our scheduled time, and I'm starting to wonder. They have had great reviews on Angie's List, so I give them the benefit of the doubt, and call. A Rachel answers the phone and I explain that I've been waiting 20 minutes past our scheduled appointment time with Scott. She asks me to hold. She comes back and says that she is "going to research this" and get back to me in 5 minutes, or less. She calls me back 5 minutes later (and it is now 30 minutes past the scheduled time) and says there has been a misunderstanding and she would like to reschedule. She said she remembers setting the appointment with me and she gave the appointment sheet to Scott, but something must have happened. Well, my time is just as valuable as Mr. Victor's and when they try to reschedule, I tell them no thank you, as we already have 3 bids. A few minutes later I call back to let them know that I got their name from Angie's List and am very disappointed. I may have even been persuaded to go ahead and give them another chance. However, a David Victor answers the phone and I ask who he is. He tells me his name. I assume it's the owner, so I ask if he is the owner. "NO!" OK. well you are obviously someone due to your last name. So I try to explain to him that I was calling to express my disappointment and he just says "here's Rachel." He doesn't even give me a second to hear what I have to say. I ask Rachel who he is. He is Scott Victor's uncle, and the FORMER OWNER. Well, isn't that interesting? The FORMER owner doesn't even care about customer service. Then, as I'm trying to tell Rachel that I got their name off angle's list and about my disappointment, Rachel starts arguing with me and interrupting me. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE all around. Especially after they were a no call and no show. If your time is valuable to you, I suggest you stay away from this company.

(removed member name) anger and frustration over our missing our appointment with him is completely understandable. I entered the appointment into our computer system, however the appointment did not download onto Scott’s appointment calendar. We are unsure how this happened, but are researching to ensure it does not happen again. Unfortunately, however, mistakes do occur. I apologized to (removed member name) and offered to reschedule at his convenience, including a Saturday so that he did not have to take more time off of work. He did not want to do so. As he said, he already had bids from three other companies. (removed member name) then called back. I am unsure why except to further vent his frustration. I do not believe he called to give us another chance. Mr. Victor answered the phone and (removed member name) asked to speak to me. He then asked Mr. Victor if he knew what had gone on with his appointment. At that point, Mr. Victor said he would transfer him to me. Mr. Victor is not the owner, but rather the previous owner who still works several days a week. Of course he cares about his former business or he would not still be working with the new owners, Scott and myself. However, there was absolutely no reason for him to put himself in the middle of a situation he knew nothing about. I never attempted to argue with (removed member name). I simply apologized repeatedly for our error. (removed member name) was extremely angry, again understandably so, and did not want to hear an apology. When a customer is that upset, there is really nothing we can do. We would have liked the opportunity to schedule another appointment and of course give him a deeper discount because of our error. But (removed member name) did not want this nor did he give us an opportunity to offer this. He just accused me of speaking over him. He simply wanted to express his disappointment (to use his words) and to tell us he was a member of Angie's List and was not happy. We are truly sorry that (removed member name) took time off of work to meet with our company. However, he did tell us that we had to be there exactly at 1:30 because he had to leave at 2:30 to be somewhere else. We typically give a range of time for our appointments in case the previous appointment takes longer than expected, but that was not acceptable to (removed member name). At the time of scheduling, I explained that appointments can sometimes take more than an hour to measure all of his windows and for him to decide what he wanted. He told me that also was not acceptable and that Scott would have to be gone by 2:30 as he had somewhere to be. Again, we are sorry that (removed member name) took time from work, but it was not only for Victor Shade. We truly wish that this did not happen. As every company does, we pride ourselves on our customer service. Victor Shade has been in business since 1908, which could not happen if we did not care about our customers. We hope that you will read all of our other reviews on Angie's List and understand that this was an unfortunate mistake and absolutely not our normal way of doing business.

The experience was very positive. Victor Shade came out and measured all the windows and then came back 2 or 3 weeks later to install them. The installer was right on time. He completed the job and cleaned up everything in about an hour. Everything looked great. I thought that the price I paid was very fair based on some pre-sale research that I had done. The price probably a bit more than what I would have paid for similar window treatments at a big box store, but considering that the price included professional measuring and installation, I was satisfied with the price.
Description of Work: Purchased blinds for 2 rooms and shades for one room. All window treatments were installed.

David came out to show us samples we then selected and measured the windows. On installment day, Jim was on time and installed the blinds in less than 2 hours, very efficient and very courteous. He did a beautiful job and we love the blinds.

When Scott came, he patiently listened to what we wanted for window shades. He then showed us shades that were newer and better designed than the ones we thought we wanted. He priced those shades as well. At no time did he pressure us into purchasing the newer/better shades. He provided us with the information and cost and we made our own decision. A big part of our decision was that we wanted a shade company that would be around when/if we had a problem in the future. So, we chose Victor Shade and when the gentleman came to install the shades, he determined that two of the shades were not working quite right. This was news to me; they went up and down were the correct color so I thought they were OK. The installer made arrangements for a Hunter-Douglas Rep to come to our home (at no charge to us) to fine tune the shades. That happened within three weeks of the installation. (this was over the Christmas holiday) The people at Victor Shade clearly like what they are doing and they care about customer service. They have been in business a long time and from their professionalism, one can see why.
Description of Work: Scott came to our home with samples, patiently answered our questions and explained our options regarding window treatments. We settled on Silhouette shades and another shade described as a "top-down, bottom-up" product. The shades were ordered and installed in a matter of few weeks.

The installer's attention to detail and level of customer service was heads above anyone else out there. This company cares about the customer, the quality of the product they represent, and the entire customer experience. They go out of their way to make the experience a pleasant one. It's all about the customer and the detail. They won't complete a job unless it's perfect. An example is that when they hung the window treatment, the way it glided back and forth upon opening and closing seemed OK to me, but a little stiff. The installer wasn't completely happy with it and proactively ordered another glide bar so that the movement was smoother, the way it should be. I would have noticed this in time with repeated opening and closing but not known if it was possible to make it better. They kept me informed with phone calls about when the new bar was expected to arrive - everything was done proactively on their part, and I never had to wonder if they were going to remember to return to finish the job. As I stated above, it seem like a small thing that a contractor vacuums the work areas and uses touch-up paint for small exposed areas created by removing old products, but it speaks volumes as to the way Victor Shade wants you to remember your experience with them. After dealing with a different company and having a totally different experience, my experience with Victor Shade was a breath of fresh air. It taught me a valuable lesson - there are still honest, reputable companies who you can trust and are a pleasure to do business with. As I told the installer when he left, my only regret was that I didn't use them to begin with. up t
Description of Work: Consultation, evaluation, help with selection and choosing of appropriate window treatments for sliding glass door in dining room. They measured, ordered and installed the product. In addition, the installer asked me for a vacuum cleaner to vacuum the floor before he left and touch up paint so that the areas where the old product was removed wouldn't need further attention by me after he left.

Due to a room remodel, we needed to have a shade cut down (narrower). We took the shade in and spoke directly with the person who would do the repairs. The work was done and we were extremely pleased with the quality and price. We were disappointed that we were told it would be ready at a specific time on two different occasions and when we called to confirm we could pick it up, it was not yet ready. Otherwise, everything was great. We would definitely use them again for any repairs as well as new blinds.

Scott was very patient and helpful in aiding us in determining what was the right fit for our needs. He offered several selections and made recommendations that helped us to a decision. It took a little longer than expected to actually get the product from the manufacturer, but the installation was scheduled very quickly once they were received. Jim, the installer, was very professional and efficient. He even went the extra mile to install some quarter round on one of the skylights as there was more light bleed around the edges than was acceptable to him. I am very happy with the entire process and will use Victor shade again.

In our prior residence we had Hunter Douglas shades and loved them. So, when we moved to the Lou, we needed window treatments for privacy purposes, and so went with what we knew and liked - Hunter Douglas bottom up/top down shades. Cardinal Shade came out to talk to us, and the lady was quite nice. However, she didn't have samples of the colors or cell sizes. So, we traveled over to Victor's showroom and looked at a comprehensive sampling of options. Like everything, things had changed since we bought Hunter Douglas shades 15 years ago, but Mr. Victor walked us through the process and helped us select the right color (different than what we were first going with) and the right cell size (again, different than what we were originally going to select). They allowed us to take the sample book over the weekend. Mr. Victor then came out to our house and measured the windows and gave us a quote, all within a day or so. I then got a quote from Cardinal Shade. It was almost identical to the price quoted by Victor Shade. I thought it should have been less expensive since Cardinal did not have the considerable overhead cost of a display showroom. Cardinal Shade had made it clear throughout the process that, if I got a better quote from someone else, I should come back to them to see if they would match or better it. However, I did not feel that was right -- if Cardinal couldn't immediately pass on their savings from not having a showroom, why should I haggle with them to save a few bucks over the guy who invests in a full showroom and walks me through the selection process? Not surprisingly, Victor Shade company delivered the shades promptly and their installer (Jim?) was excellent. We have nice 1910 woodwork around the windows and Victor used a minimum of screw holes to get the job done. We are pleased with the color and style of the shades Victor helped us select.

I had been wanting to do this project since I first moved into my condo in 2009, but was worried the price would be high. $1800 is a lot of money, and I only gave Victor Shade a B on price, but in fairness I did not price it with any other company. I knew I would only use Victor Shade anyway, so it seemed a waste of time to get a second estimate. Scott, the president who gave me the estimate, told me that I would receive a $25 rebate per window from Hunter Douglas , which offer expired March 31. I appreciated that rebate, which effectively lowered the $1800 price by $75. In addition, Scott told me that the Hunter Douglas shades he suggested I use would be eligible for a Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficiency. I won't know til tax time how much that will save me, but I'm hoping another $100-$150 on my tax return. Getting back to the project, my master bedroom is on an upper level and has 3 windows-- 2 of them face east, and the lower edge of those windows are about 9 feet above the floor level. The third window faces west and is at a more normal height. That west facing window had a pleated shade already, but it did not keep the light out at all. The 2 east facing windows had no shade at all. As a result, when the sun rose in the morning, my bedroom was bathed in glorious sunlight--which woke me at once-- I am a light sleeper. Also all that lovely sunlight caused the bedroom to be quite hot in the summer. I craved a dark, cool bedroom, and knew I needed room darkening shades which operated via a power rise ( ie a remote.) I had used Victor Shade in 2011 to repair a broken plantation shutter, so was already a fan of their excellent customer service. I called and made an appointment for Scott to come out with some samples and give me a price for the project. He came out March 18, and we talked about what I needed and my cost concerns. He explained what choices I had and why he suggested the product I ended up using. That is what I wanted---- expert advice from a knowledgable person. I signed and contract that day, and he ordered the materials. Barely 2 weeks later (ahead of schedule) the shades arrived and I received a call to schedule installation. The installer's name is Jim, and he is a gem-- experienced, considerate, and thorough. He came out April 4, and got the shades installed in a jiffy. The west facing window did not need the power rise system, so I went with the regular cord lift. It was less expensive and qualifies (I hope) for the Tax Credit. The other two windows are operated via a handy remote (like a TV remote.) Jim showed me how to operate the remote and advised me regarding battery replacement in both the remote and the satellite battery pack (located up high by the windows, but well out of sight.) All 3 window shade are from the same type and color of fabric, so they match beautifully. By the way, the 2 east facing windows are not eligible for the Federal Tax Credit, because they have a motorized operating system. Do I love my new shades? Oh my!! My bedroom stays deliciously dark on the brightest day-- unless I want the sun in. And I usually do open the shades during the day, especially during cold weather. The sun helps warm my condo during cold weather. But on hot days, being able to keep the sun out of the upstairs bedroom all day makes a huge difference in the sleeping temperature of that room. I can see why these shades are eligible for a Tax Credit for Energy Efficiency-- they really give my A/C a helping hand. I just wish I had done this project years ago. I knew that if I didn't do it this year, I would still want to do it eventually-- and the cost is not likely to be any less down the road. I would not use anyone but Victor Shade--they are the best.
