They do a pretty good job. The have exceeded my expectations. The owner came out and gave the estimate at the beginning. Over the years he has only raised the cost $4.00. They have been very convenient.

I contacted the Cleaning Authority on a Wednesday and scheduled them for service on the following Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. I spoke directly to the owner during scheduling, and he took a very detailed description of what I wanted done. A 2 person crew arrived right on time on the day of service, and they were both very polite. The owner had estimated it would take 1.5 hours to complete the work, but it took 3 hours. Overall, the home was clean with the exception of the stove area in the kitchen. The employee cleaning the kitchen did an excellent job cleaning the stove, area behind and under the stove and the area around the stove. In the remainder of the house, some areas were cleaned well, and others were not at all. For example, the wood floors were not very dirty to begin with, but after they had been cleaned by the Cleaning Authority employee, I walked on the floors in bare feet, and my feet were filthy. Also, a large portion of the kitchen floor was not cleaned at all. I was there to observe about 1/2 of the work, and my conclusion is 1 employee completed high quality work and the other did not. I rated Cleaning Authority an "A" for responsiveness because the owner called me to discuss the service before I could call him to discuss my concerns. The owner was concerned because the service took twice as long as he had estimated, and they charge by the hour. After discussing my concerns, he reduced my charge to $107 from $195. I felt this was a fair resolution, but I will likely try a different cleaning service in the future. The owner did take very specific feedback from me, and indicated he would be using it to coach his employees.

Thank you for the report. As the customer mentioned, we offered (and he accepted) to reduce the actual price down to our cost because of the quality concerns, thus the unusual $107 amount. 95% of the time we come see a potential job before bidding on it. It gives us a chance to meet the customer, make sure we're "on the same page" as far as what to expect, and to bid the job as accurately as possible. When initially calling, the customer needed a clean the next day and we were able to accomodate it. We did get to have a good discussion about cleaning expectations, but it was no substitute for actually visiting the job beforehand. His issues with the quality were legitimate, and here is why they happened: 1) The wood floor was dirty to the touch because the cleaner did not change her rinse bucket enough. She ended up doing a final wash/rinse of the floor with water that should have been cleaner. We should not have left his floor as we did, but the cleaner did not double-check her work. 2) The uncleaned area of the kitchen floor, as we recall, was the area directly underneath the stove. We had told the customer upfront that he would need to pull the stove out for us to clean the back/sides/behind it. He did so and the cleaners did a good job on/around the stove. However, they are not allowed to move around major appliances due to worker's compensation issues, thus the floor underneath the stove did not get done. We should have been more clear about this to the customer upfront. We appreciate any and all honest reviews, as they can only help us get better.

Mike, the owner, came over for a run thru & to give us an estimate. I was very impressed with the price & his professionalism. He gave me the impression that he ran a great, quality company so I had high hopes. Angel & Erica showed up right on time. When I answered the door they walked right past me, barely saying "Hi" and got started. One of the girls broke a glass vase. I was in the next room over when it broke so I walked into the room to see what happened. As she was cleaning up the glass I said something like, Oh that's OK. She never looked up at me or acknowledge that I was there. There was no apology. She did not mention it or apologize to me when she was leaving either. There was no verbal apology about the broken vase, but she did leave a note saying she was sorry & that I should call the office to see about replacing it. I am not upset in the least bit about the vase being broken. I was, however, unimpressed about how it was handled. I called the office the next day to see what our options were. Again, no verbal apology by Jo or Stephanie. They did deduct $20 off of my blind cleaning bill. There also seemed to be confusion about the blind cleaning. They have a separete division that can either come clean the blinds at your home, which is the more expensive option. Or if you take the blinds down yourself & have them clean them offsite, it is $39 cheaper. I could be wrong, but I'm sure that Mike told me that since the girls would be here cleaning the house, that they could take the blinds along with them to have them cleaned offsite. We had the blinds ready to be taken when the girls arrived to clean the house. They were not aware they were supossed to take them and said "They don't tell us nothing". The told the office that I told them to take them along. When I called the office the next day, Jo told me it was a drop off service and that we were supposed to drop them off? Mike did not tell me we were supposed to drop them off. Other than that, the kitchen & bathroom both looked great! They did a great job getting the bathtub clean. The ceiling fans were supposed to be dusted but they were not. The dusting was sloppy. Our dining room table & coffee table was streaky & had a dull finish. Overall, it seems like there is a lack of communication & professionalism.
Description of Work: Angel & Erica cleaned the main floor of our house. They have a separate division that cleaned our kitchen blinds.

Angel and Erica came on time and got right to work. As soon as they walked in the door, they soaked the knobs and burner pans from the stove in soapy water. I have an older house and the upstairs bathroom is the original tile. It never sparkled, but once they were in there, I couldn't believe my eyes! They did wonder on the blinds, the appliances, the floors...everything they touched. These older homes are especially dusty, and with the windows open, pollen lays on every surface. Not anymore! I can't say enough about how wonderful my house looks! They were professional and personable, and great with my dogs. Later, they were joined by another team who were also terrific. They finished the floors and were all out of there in a timely manner. Great job!
Description of Work: My entire house was cleaned, top to bottom. Floors, baseboards, appliances, furniture, stairs, washed, vacuumed, dusted, wiped, scrubbed. Bathroom and kitchen sparkle!

They arrive on time and finish within the scheduled time frame. Mainly I was concerned with having strangers in my house while I was out, but so far so good. They are very professional. Also I was worried that my cats would be scared or try to escape, but they're really good with the cats too. Electronic payment is a breeze. The whole system just makes my life a little easier.
Description of Work: The cleaning team, two women, come every two weeks at the same time. One member of the team is always the same, but sometimes she has a different partner. They sweep, mop, vaccuum, dust, wipe counters and surfaces, make beds and generally make your house look really nice. Cleaning is more focused on certain tasks on a rotating schedule. A print out is provided on the current week's focus and let's you know what they'll focus on next time. Lorie, the consistent member of this team, always writes a nice note on the print out.

I have had them for a number of years and they are fine. They do very well; otherwise I wouldn't have them come back. They have always been here in a timely manner in all these years. They have a list of what they are supposed to do, and they have an A and a B list. They do some of the work with one list and some of it with the other and everything gets touched once or twice in a month. There are some times when I want to do something else and they make sure that they put that in the rotation for the next time around. I think that they do a very good job. The price has gone up by just $2 in the years that I have had them. They do pretty well on time and they are always there, and they managed to find their way even when they were tearing up the streets and doing road repair here.

I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. All windows, screens and storm windows were cleaned including removing, cleaning and replacing the large storm window on the front picture window. The only surprise was that the storm windows were not included in the original bid. It was worth the extra to have them done. I have used Cleaning Authority in the past and always find them professional and an excellent company with which to work. The two men who do windows are pleasant, professional and do good work. The windows were left sparkling clean without any other trace that they had been here.
Description of Work: I have triple track windows in my house plus a sunroom with tall windows and screens. All these were cleaned as were all sills and facings, etc inside and out.

The cleaners themselves did a great job and the price was reasonable. But I?m never using them again, as they somehow managed to show up on the wrong day or not at all three times in the first five weeks. The people answering calls and making appointments have amazed me in their ability to be so consistently disorganized, confused, and yet unapologetic. In one instance the cleaners showed up on a Monday instead of the scheduled Thursday. On two separate occasions no one showed up for a scheduled appointment at all. If I had the time for that kind of nonsense I would have the time to clean the house myself. UPDATE: Mr. Weintz did indeed send us a check and a letter of apology. I have updated the review to reflect his response.

This response is from Mike Weintz, owner of The Cleaning Authority. Within one hour of this customer telling our office manager, Jo Gross, that she was "firing" us and giving us "the worst Angie's List rating ever," I left a message on both phone numbers we had for this customer. After receiving no return call from the customer, I e-mailed and sent a hard copy of the e-mail to the customer's home address. As of one week later, the customer has not responded to my request for a discussion. Here is a copy of the letter I mailed to this customer: Dear Member, I am obviously very disappointed in the grade you gave my company and am asking you to please take the time to read the rest of my letter. I left my cell phone number on both of your voice mail accounts about one hour after your phone call to my office manager (Jo Gross). I was calling that morning in an effort to apologize, explain our error, and rectify the situation but never heard back from you. My understanding of the issues you stated below are: 1) We did book an estimate appointment for you on a day that I was out of town. I am guessing that is one of the two occasions you stated that we did not show up for a scheduled appointment at all. I understand that we called you prior to that appointment, explained our situation, and rebooked the estimate appointment with you from Friday to the following Wednesday. My memory could be foggy, but I seem to remember personally thanking you for allowing me to come on a day other than what you originally booked. 2) I understand that my manager did send your team a day early on your second clean. She followed your first Monday clean on 9/20 with a Monday clean on 9/27 even though she had confirmed Tuesdays (your review says Thursday, but I’m pretty sure you asked us to come on Tuesdays) with you. I understand that she did make a mistake. I know that Jo worked out a 12:30-1:30 timeframe for you the following day (Tuesday) and that the team arrived at your home at 1:05 PM. If she failed to apologize to you for her mistake, then I apologize to you now in her behalf. 3) You called Monday, October 11 around 5:30 PM with a request to move your Tuesday cleans to Thursdays beginning the following week. Tuesday morning, the 12th, my assistant manager made our second scheduling error on your account in just four weeks. When she went to move the Tuesday, October 19 clean to Thursday, she clicked the wrong button and moved your Tuesday, October 12 clean to Thursday. She did not realize at the time that she clicked the wrong button until she overheard your call to Jo that morning. She broke down in tears when she found how you reacted to her mistake, but in the end, she still made the mistake. I understand your call to Jo on Tuesday morning was one-sided, that Jo did not or was not able to interrupt your venting, and was unable to offer an apology and rectification. Given that this was our second scheduling mistake so soon, she would have been expected to offer you that day’s clean for free at whatever time you requested (later that day, the next day, the next week, etc.). I am not denying that my staff made mistakes with your schedule and feel bad that they happened so soon with your account. Without my direct involvement, they do manage to keep 409 bi-weekly, 22 weekly, 22 tri-weekly, 13 monthly, and 146 quarter-weekly customers content with their schedules. But still, I understand they failed you. I have enclosed a check for $30.88 which is the amount of profit we made on the three cleans performed for you. Should you reconsider, the offer of your next clean for free would be doubled and I would not charge you for two cleans. I would expect those two cleans to go flawlessly and to hopefully put us back in your good graces. Whether or not you take up my offer, I am asking you to reconsider your Angie’s List F grades on responsiveness and professionalism (and hopefully overall). I did respond to you immediately after you became upset / flustered with our error. I hope I have not been unprofessional towards you. I cannot argue with you giving us an F on punctuality if that is what you feel we merit.

For the first year, I would have given my team an A+. They were great, considerate and kind (even left a note the weekend before my husband and I were married wishing us luck), but over time the service faltered. I called several times to speak with the manager Jo, and though things would initially re-bound it never stuck. I finally called to cancel the service earlier in the year and talked to the owner who couldn't seem to promise anything. I had asked that he not send the keys to the house via the mail for safety reasons and gave him my work address (which I thought he was writing down), but the keys came the house anyway. I was really disappointed - especially after having such a good experience initially.
Description of Work: I hired the Cleaning Authority after my mom died because we needed the help. They were hired to clean about 75 % of my house (we skipped rooms that were disaster areas or hard to clean). Initially they were great and I was very impressed. But quality and service went down over time as teams changed. Towards the end, the teams were just sloppy. Forgot to clean areas, pulled electrical/speaker wires out during cleaning, broke candles, left trash on back porch and other little things.

We cannot dispute the opinions of this former customer, only offer our perspective on what went wrong. Upfront, I (Mike Weintz-owner) made a mistake in handing off the task of mailing the customer's key back to her after she terminated her service. I did write down her work address with the intention of mailing the key there as requested, but failed to give that address to our manager (who mailed the key back). I just made a mistake and feel bad about it. Thank goodness nothing bad came of it outside the ill will we created. We serviced this customer from January, 2008 until March, 2010. I believe we earned her A+ grade from January, 2008 until August, 2009 (except for the broken candle she mentioned - this happened in January, 2009). In August, 2009 the team leader that had cleaned her house for 20 months left our company. I suspect this is when she felt the service started slipping, but to the best of my remembrance (and our complaint logs), I became aware of her unhappiness in December, 2009. She voiced complaints to us about both her cleans that month. In addition to the problems she mentioned, we broke a spoon rest also. Our office manager, Jo, gave her a free clean and had her next clean inspected in an effort to make amends. She had the one free clean and four paid cleans after the December, 2009 conversations before terminating the service. In regards to her comment about speaking to me and my inability to "promise anything," I just cannot remember what she was asking me to promise. I wanted her to remain a customer and would've been cooperative on working something out, but cannot remember why we did not work anything out. Despite being named one of the top 3 franchises of The Cleaning Authority in 2009 (out of 180), we do still make mistakes on average 1-1.5% of the time and try hard to rectify those mistakes. When we unfortunately make those mistakes more than once or twice with the same customer, it is understandable that they may lose faith in our ability to do our job. We have learned from this situation. I apologize to this Angie's List customer that, in the end, we let her down.

After a visit by the owner of the company to walk through my house and see what needed to be done he gave me an estimate of cost and we set up a time for cleaning. The price is comparable to what I've had before. All cleaning supplies are furnished by CA. The first two visits cost more but with the coupon from Angie's list the difference was only about $5. The same two people come to my house each time(Lori and Patricia) and do a great job. I feel comfortable being there or not. Very dog friendly. They always leave a note saying what area was emphasized and what was done. My shower doors have never looked better!

I'm sold on the work they do. He pays better than the competitors, which means he uses better quality people. He provides them with insurance. There are different cycles of cleaning: A and B cycles. Both cycles have different emphasis on cleaning certain areas. It's the normal stuff that you would do if you were housecleaning.
Description of Work: I've used them for housecleaning for three or four years. They come every two weeks. They do the upstairs: 2800 square feet.

The first visit was around $150.00 and the next was about $65.00. I have mixed feelings about the job they did. Some things were wonderful. For example, they dusted everything better than it's ever been dusted before. They hand-wiped the baseboards and cleaned nooks and crannies in the bathroom. But there were also fairly obvious things they missed. The first time, the main thing they missed was scuff marks on the kitchen floor and ground-in dust on the wood floors in the bedrooms. I called the company the next day and the manager said she'd come out to fix it, but I told her just to make sure they got it the next time. The next time they came out, the floors were somewhat cleaner, but nothing like I expected, and the bathtub wasn't very clean. Granted, my floors were really filthy, and it may take some scrubbing to get the job done, so maybe I expected too much. The manager did mention they can't use any abrasives. Maybe I need someone to use abrasives... I'm trying to be understanding here, but the fact is that I just don't think this is the company for me.

The result was excellent. The bathroom badly needs repair (soon to be completed) and the tub and surround were terrible. They look so much better than I could ever imagine possible. I see this visit as the beginning of a long association if the quality continues.

We've tried several cleaning services and this one is the one we are keeping. The first time they cleaned, I thought I had a new stove! They have teams assigned so I always have the same people cleaning. They are familiar with my house and likes and dislikes, for instance, we always close all of our doors. When I come home from work after they've cleaned, all of my doors are closed. Little things like that make a difference.
