Terminix - Saint Louis -Termite & Pest Control

I had some termites probably ten years ago, I ended up calling them and they have been coming every year. I would continue to use this company in the future.

The Good: They are very responsive to service calls. I've never had to wait more than 48 hours for someone to come out. Tammy, who serviced our home, is a good person and does a good job. The Bad: As part of our annual termite inspection, the inspector/salesman pushed a sale on insulation. It made sense as I would save on energy bills, so I decided to hear him out and get an estimate. As most of us do, I also decided to get other estimates. As it turns out, his estimate claimed I have 25% less insulation than I actually have, compared to the other 2 estimates I received. Needless to say, this had a large impact on what was already an astronomical quote. The Nightmare: Years ago, when termites became present at my home, Terminix suggested placing bait stations around my home, costing me over $1500 to install. Less than 2 years later, I was told they were going to pull the stations without explanation. Upon further research, it seems these stations were deemed ineffective. You can imagine my disappointment after spending/wasting all of that money!

I don’t spend per visit, but I pay for the year which is about $290. I like the fact that everyone is very pleasant and there is no sales push. They are very courteous. When they come to check the outside of the house, they always call ahead and let me know that they are coming to do the check. They also let me know when they are finished with it. I think they do both internal and external, but I only have external. I am not sure about their punctuality.

The service went well. The most recent visit was just a followup visit, and the one prior to that was their first visit. I would use them again in the future; in fact, I use them in St. Louis and in Cincinnati.

They have been fine. They make sure that I don't have any termites.

I am on a contract with them. The come out every month, and we don't have any particular time. I have the charge automatically taken out of my account. I had spiders and some other pests that I don't have any more. They are gone. My grandchildren used to be very afraid of the spiders. They took care of the problem. The only problem that I have now, I think, are moles in my yard. I don't think they do moles, so I have to find somebody that does. I haven't compared their prices, but they're obviously within my price range. I don't think it's extraordinary or exorbitant. I feel like I get what I pay for.

They treated my house for termites about 20 years ago. I have been using them since then. They just come out and check it over. If I have any trouble, they go through the basement and around the outside of the house to make sure everything is alright.

We have a yearly contract with them. They are thorough and come when they say that they are going to come. They have taken care of any problems whenever it was needed.

They do a good, thorough job. They call to schedule an appointment. It all goes smoothly. I have to be home for the inspection. I will use them again in the future.

They are probably not any more expensive that anybody else but I haven't checked to find out. They seem to be a national brand and I don't want to experiment with somebody else. i rarely see any bugs crawling around.

We have a termite contract with them. We pay them yearly for the monitoring. It is expensive and they don't do much. We usually don't see them and they leave a note saying whether there was any termite activity. Usually they let us know when they are coming but we don't usually see or talk to the person that comes. We haven?t had any termites since they started checking which has been ten years. They say they are coming on a certain day but we don?t know if they came but they leave a report so we assume they have come. The house had termites before we moved in and we have kept up the treatment as a precaution.

We had a contract with them for termites. I don’t remember how much I spent for their services. They are usually pretty professional for that kind of a company. I’ve never ever had a problem with them. They always send somebody out that I’m comfortable with. They wear something that you can identify them. They have an appointment set up and so you can expect them to come. They usually introduce themselves and they tell me what they want to do or what they plan to do. They check with me if it’s okay. They do it in a fashion that you don’t feel threatened or anything. I would use their services again in the future.

They will come back and spray for free in between quarterly visits if needed. The technicians are always very curteous.

We were satisfied with their service. I thought that they seemed honest and professional. One of the gentleman that completed the service was late. I can't really judge the quality because I am waiting to see if the termites return. We did sign a contract with them for service.

Everything was fine. I spend about $300 a year. They come out and just inspect the bait traps and I like that they get the job done. Their prices are expensive.

They are reliable and do good work. They are local and my husband knows them. We have an annual contract with them for termite control. There respond to all of our problems. They have also come out for ant control before. They come out four times a year and check the traps. They come back as many times as they need to and make sure that we are happy. They are reasonably priced too.

I didn't use them. They were pretty high. The quote was for around 200 bucks, but there was a monthly fee of 70 bucks with it. If someone wanted to get work done with them, I would tell them to get some quotes from competition first. They came out as scheduled and they came out in a timely manner. I just thought the price was a little bit much. I guess I would consider using them in the future.

They were responsive but they just could not get rid of the ants. They were easy to deal with and very professional but they just couldn't get the job complete.

Signed up for a year, in advance, through their salesman (who was great). Their salesman did a FULL inspection of the home--even got down into the crawlspace for 20 minutes. All in all, I was very impressed with their initial sales call/inspection. Signed up and was told they would be there for the initial treatment between 0800-1000 in the morning. At 1030, still nobody, so I called (all I got was the central line somewhere in another state). Finally, after making 13 calls, somebody came out at 1130. The actual guy who did the work was great--just like the sales guy. He worked his a*** off--did above and beyond. All was fine--he put down 30-gallons of stuff under and around the house. Today, I have an ant problem so I call to get some help. Again, put through to central line over in St. Louis. This time, they say they cannot find my account....can't even find a customer number (although when they punch in my phone number, it comes up with my name and address...just not as a registered customer). I've called 4 times today--each time speaking to a different person at some central number...each time being told they would look into it and call me back. I still have an ant problem, I'm still not getting any service from the call-in numbers (even tried calling the local branch, and keep getting put through to central number), and am pretty much frustrated. EXCELLENT people when you work with them in person....I'm just not impressed at all with their customer service. It is lacking, to say the least.

I noticed a "pile of sawdust" under my front porch. Thinking the worst - TERMITES, I immediately looked up pest control here on Angie's List. Ended up calling only one - Terminix; because they had a decent rating, and also advertised on "national TV". Their (what I assume is a) "national call center" set me up for a termite & pest inspection appointment for the next day (June 08 2010). The "inspector" showed up on time on the scheduled day - though at the very end of the "two hour" appt window. He quickly determined that the "sawdust" was caused by a carpenter bee, and not termites. He then inspected the exterior and the basement/garage (a single divided area; bottom floor of a 3-floor townhouse), poking his screwdriver into the wood here and there, and pulling aside some insulation and prodding and looking behind it (and then replaced that insulation properly), and scanning over the concrete walls and floor of the area. He said his findings were that I had only that one carpenter bee nest under the porch, and no signs of termites. He explained how they could rid the porch of the carpenter bee, and also offered that they could treat the townhouse exterior and basement/garage interior for ants (I had explained I get ants every year, almost around this time of year). I accepted to have all that done. The treatment was scheduled for June 11 between 1000-1200. On Friday, June 11, at around 1100, the technician that was going to do the treatment, called and said he could not make it by 1200 (the "end" of our appt window), and requested if we could reschedule. I said that was okay, and we decided on same day between 1500-1700. He arrived at 1645, and performed all the specified work. From what I can tell, the carpenter bee is now gone. For the ant treatment - time will tell, if we get ants or not, over the next month or two. One discrepancy between the "inspector" and the "technician" - the inspector said they would "dust" the front porch (with a machine that would "shoot" the dust between the boards), and that would kill any ants and pests living between the various boards of the front porch. The technician said he doesn't do that and instead explained he would put down a "treatment" powder around the various perimeters, like the porch anchors, etc. No "dust shooting" between the boards. Also, I guess I expected some sort of written "termite inspection report". But the inspector said they only do that if the home is being sold (and mine is not). So my only record of the "termite inspection" is basically his "word" that everything is fine as far as termites go. I am happy that Terminix was able to schedule and treat quickly. I appreciated the call when the technician could not make it on time. I am also happy with the treatment. I would have preferred a "written record" of the inspectors findings from his termite inspection.

They were very professional, explained everything they did, did a good job. We had to call them back out about a month later because we still had ants in one bathroom, but they identified where the colony was and got rid of them quickly.

I called them when I found their flyer stuck in my door. I spent $96 when they came out last. I am usually not home when they come. However, as far as I know, they do a good job. I don?t have bugs in my house. I have been using them for five years. They come out a few times a year. They call ahead of time to let me know when they come out. They offer me to call them back and let them know if I need any work done inside. I?ll continue using their services in the future.

I have not had any pest issues since they began coming out. I like that I do not have to be at home when they come out to do the service. I pay them on a quarterly basis. I feel that the price is just fine.

They do a good job. They discovered termites once and took care of them. That was many years ago. I haven't had that problem again. They do an outside inspection if they can't get a hold of you. They make an appointment with me to inspect the inside. They are thorough. They have maintained their level of service all these years. They come when they say they will.

I would give them all A's. It was a good professional experience.
