Our main sewer lateral in our basement had failed. Was forced to stay in a hotel for three weeks with my wife that has SEVERE MS. I had MANY calls I could not return because of this. I want to apologize for that. It just could not have been helped.

We will be the 1st to say that we WILL NOT be your cheapest bid. Too many members waste our valuable time getting 10 bids and can't even return a phone call after us taking the time to give them a free estimate. That reflects in the cost of people that actually do hire us. However, If you want a long lasting product, Using only the BEST materials. We will be your greatest value for sure. We Band-aid nothing EVER. This is the problem we have with people selling their homes and real estate agents. They want a cheap quick fix and we refuse to do this at ANY time. I guess that is where the slogan came from "You get what you pay for?" We appreciate you taking the time to post a review for us and look forward to any future projects that you may have....

I am writing this is in an attempt for you to remove the review you have posted about my business from angieslist. I am not sure why you think it was my business you had contacted. I can assure you that it was not my business. I handle all calls and it most definitely not my business. I have worked very hard to obtain the best rating possible for many years. They speak for themself. If I even had the slightest reason to believe that it was my company I would just let this review stand the way it is. But, That is not the case. With that being said, I am requesting you to remove this review as soon as possible or I will be forced to take further action.

I think it may be yourself that needs an "F" rating. If you would have taken the time to read my recent reviews you would see that I am recovering from major surgery. Fall is a peak time for us as well. We are almost caught up on work that has been previously signed and will be giving estimates again soon. I also would also like to apologize to anyone that has called and I have not gotten back with. Our reviews speak for them self. We have worked VERY hard on EVERY project we obtain.

If you read my response a few reviews down you will notice this At the same time, I am the main caregiver for my wife who has SEVERE MS. I am doing much better now and trying to get back with all the calls that I have missed. I could understand someone leaving a bad review if I had made an appointment to estimate their work and did not arrive or something. But, For not returning a phone call? REALLY? am not sure why some members are so eager to post a negative review for not receiving a return call. It's not like I have made an appointment with them and not showed up or something. The message on my phone clearly states "ALL CALLS WILL BE ANSWERED IN THE ORDER THAT THEY ARE RECEIVED" Spring is a peak time with many phone calls coming in. If I was a larger company I would have a receptionist answering the phone immediately with an estimator to your home within hours of receiving your call. But, this is not the case. I personally make the appointments, Estimate the work, Write the estimate, Do the shopping for materials and complete the work itself. By the time I get home it may be 8 o'clock before I even eat dinner. For me to return calls that late in the evening wouldn't be very professional in my opinion. At peak times it requires me to do my estimates after my workday and on weekends. My main focus is to complete the contracts that I have signed 1st over future work. I want each and every customer that has actually hired me 100% satisfied with them getting exactly what I have promised them and have been hired to do. If a customer needs something immediately and I haven't called them back, It may be in their best interest to try another contractor that isn't so busy. I would love to be able to rush to each and every call and obtain every job that comes in. It's just not possible. Here is a short example. Say you hire me to put a roof on your home. I come to your job and remove your existing roof. Then, A future customer calls and I race off to get them a bid that I may not even get. Then it rains that night and water pours into your home. How happy would you be? It would be very easy for me to just concentrate on returning phone calls and estimating work. The problem with that would be that I would have to subcontract my work. By doing this it would create a whole new set of problems. I've tried it from 1999-2001. It did not work. I would give simple direction to the workers and it would most always be wrong. It left me constantly having to babysit making sure the job was done right when I could have done it better and faster myself. When people hire me, They get myself and my small crew period. They get everything I have promised them in writing just as they should. So, I guess I am just going to have to deal with some possible customers being irritated that I did not call them back immediately. Satisfying my actual customer by far overweighs any negative that can be placed on here. Especially when I have never even worked for this person. All I can do is hope that customers will read all my reviews and see that the reviews I have received from customers I have actually worked for are outstanding. We strive for the best reviews possible. However, I CANNOT satisfy everyone, all of the time. I really wish I could but I CAN'T. So, with this being said, I really want to offer my sincere apology to EACH AND EVERY CUSTOMER that I have not returned a phone call to. It is not that we do not value your business. It has just been impossible to keep up with the demand. We could not survive without you. Thank you very much for even considering my company.

THE CONTRACTOR THAT INSTALLED THIS ROOF INSTALLED THE FIRST COURSE ABOUT 2 INCHES SHORT. IT CAUSED MAJOR SOFFIT DAMAGE TO THE CUSTOMERS HOME. ALL OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF IT WAS INSTALLED PROPERLY.

The workmanship was amazing in every conceivable way. The painting itself was done extremely well and even more important, Dave worked with me every step of the way, alerting me to issues (e.g. discovery of rotten wood he discovered on the 2nd floor), and provided me with options on how to deal with these problems and he followed through promptly and professionally. The house looks beautiful. I highly recommend Dave.

Dave and his helpers (Sue, Charlie) were courteous, prefessional, and clean, and did great work. We couldn't be happier. They always arrived promptly or, if running behind, made sure to call. The first day was demolition, the second day construction, the third day painting and finishing. One of the first things they did was put down protective coverings on the floor. They also swept our front sidewald to reduce tracking dirt in, just in case. The closet looks great now, and it is fantastic to have the window restored! Dave saved us time by getting to an artisan glass store when we didn't have the time, and he picked out a great piece of glass. Dave even helped us get our front porch light working again, free of charge. It had fallen once, and the wiring had become problematic.
Description of Work: Dave rebuiltand restored our front entry hall closet. This involved removing old drywall that had been improperly slapped up, removing plaster and lathe that was behind it and on the ceiling, framing in three sides and the ceiling, putting up new drywall (with mud, tape, etc.), putting new drywall on the ceilling, priming, and painting. At Dave's suggestion, we had electricity run from a nearby junction to provide a light and light switch, something the closet has never had before. We also had dave replace the glass in a 4.5"x35" window in the closet which had previously been painted over on the outside and was also cracked. Dave shopped for the glass himself, saving us time. It looks great! We also had Dave replace some moulding from the outside of an upstairs dormer. The moulding had weathered over the past 70 years and a piece had fallen off. He cut and shaped it, installed it, primed, and painted.

I UNDERSTAND THIS CANNOT ALWAYS BE THE CASE DUE TO UNCOVERING SOMETHING ONCE INTO THE PROJECT. THAT IS WHY I TAKE THE EXTRA TIME AND THOUGHT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE JOB TO MINIMIZE SURPRISES. I WOULD SAY 95% OF MY JOBS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT ON TARGET. SOME PEOPLE THINK THE PRICE IS HIGH UNTIL THEY SEE WHAT THEY GET FOR THEIR MONEY WITH THIS JOB BEING A PRIME EXAMPLE. I ALWAYS TRY MY BEST TO MAKE MY ESTIMATES A GOOD DEAL FOR BOTH MY CUSTOMERS AND MYSELF. ONE THING I ALWAYS STRESS IS TREATING A CUSTOMERS HOME AS IF IT WAS MY OWN AND BEING AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE AT ALL TIMES. IT IS SOMETHING I HAVE ALWAYS PRACTICED SINCE BEING IN BUSINESS AND THEN IT BECOMES SECOND NATURE. THE FINISHED PRODUCT ON THIS TURNED OUT VERY NICE AND JOBS LIKE THESE ARE WHAT WE SPECIALIZE IN. I ENJOY REWORKING OTHERS WORK FINDING WAYS THAT IT COULD BE DONE BETTER TO MAKE A LASTING PRODUCT THE CUSTOMER WILL BE HAPPY WITH FOR YEARS TO COME. I had scheduled SuperDave to recaulk counterflashing. Dave responded quickly to my email and came to give an estimate that was in line with other estimates. Before he comes out to do the work, a storm hits, and the roof starts to leak in two spots, unrelated to my original request. I sent Dave an email, and he is there the morning after to identify the leaky areas and give an estimate for the additional work. Dave worked on Thanksgiving day to fix things up before the next rain is supposed to hit. Dave took lots of pictures before and after the fix to show me areas I couldn't see from high on up on the roof. He noted poor workmanship that had lead to the leaks and made good suggestions for long term improvement. Dave took the time to watertest the repairs thoroughly and identified another area that started to leak, and he fixed that spot at no additional cost, even though it required an extra trip.
Description of Work: SuperDave caulked counterflashing where it was deteriorated, reshingled and sealed the roof to fix two leaks, spot tuckpointed the chimney that was contributing to leaks. They watertested all repairs.

I ARRIVED TO ESTIMATE THIS ROOF LEAK AND NOTICED THE POOR WORKMANSHIP THAT LEAD TO THE LEAK. MANY MAJOR ROOF COMPANIES SUB-CONTRACT THEIR WORK WITH THE WORKERS NOT CARING ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS HOME THE WAY THEY SHOULD. THAT IS EXACTLY WHY I DO NOT SUB-CONTRACT ANY OF OUR WORK WITHOUT MAKING SURE IT IS BEING DONE BY A TRUE PROFESSIONAL. THE CUSTOMER HAD HIS ROOF COMPLETELY REPLACED LESS THAN A YEAR BEFORE I CAME TO INSPECT IT. ALL LEAKS FOUND WERE VERY OBVIOUS. THE CUSTOMER PAID GOOD MONEY FOR HIS ROOF AND SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A BETTER FINISHED PRODUCT THAN HE DID.

Dave and his crew (his wife and one other hired helper) are extremely polite, efficient, clean, and friendly. They first entered our house without their shoes on, then immediately put drop sheets in the work areas and leading to the front door so as to keep the house spotless. They did a wonderful job on everything and cleaned up after themselves impeccably. Dave has done other projects for us in the past as well as on nearly all our neighbors' houses and always does an extremely professional job. I highly recommend him. The only minor complaint is that Dave felt our roof was worn and advised us to put a new layer of roof shingles - we had two other roofer's come out and both said our roof had 8-10 years left on it.
Description of Work: Dave fixed a leak in our roof by replacing the valley where two slopes met. The leak had caused water damage to our bathroom ceiling which he repaired by putting in drywall over the damaged plaster and painting the new ceiling. He also repaired water damaged plaster and painted on the ceiling of a bay window. He had previously solved our leak problem over that window.

I RECOMMENDED THAT THE ROOF HAVE ANOTHER LAYER PLACED OVER THE EXISTING LAYER THAT WAS A HIGHER QUALITY ROOF SHINGLE. THE ROOF HAS SUFFERED SOME MINOR HAIL DAMAGE AND RECOMMENDED THAT THEY CALL THEIR INSURANCE AGENT. THE DECLINED TO DO SO. THE EXISTING ROOF SHINGLES ARE A 3 TAB AND I RECOMMENDED THAT THEY PLACE A ARCHITECTURAL SHINGLE OVER THE EXISTING BEFORE OTHER LEAKS OCCUR TO SAVE THEM MONEY FROM FUTURE REPAIRS. THIS WOULD HAVE PROVIDED THEM WITH A WORRY FREE ROOF FOR YEARS TO COME.
