SuperDave The Handyman

Never got a response to voicemail. I understand business may be very busy, and I would much prefer a business to call me back and tell me they are just too busy right now to take on a new project, than never have a phone call returned. Sorry if my review seems unfair, but if you don't call your customers back, then it's hard to rate anything about your quality.

Super Dave and his crew showed up on time and made quick work of removing of a dilapidated carport from my backyard. They also added little extras that went above and beyond the contract including removing branches and leaves out of my driveway and sliding my shed over and squaring it up. Definitely would hire again.

Called 6 times, left messages, never heard back. Finally tracked down Super Dave’s workers at my neighbor’s house, and asked why they put up signs with their number on it if they never planned to call people back. They said they would talk to super Dave and he would call me. That was two months ago and I still haven’t heard from him.

Very satisfied with job. Dave was super nice, promptly responded to initial inquiry, provided a reasonable quote, arrived at agreed upon day/time and completed job quickly. Solid work and would definitely recommend for future work.

Perfectly! I called on Sunday, Dave was out for an estimate on Monday, the job was complete by Wednesday evening! Couldn't ask for more!

Dave and his team were great. They worked efficiently, going above-and-beyond to make repairs and do a thorough job. Dave was on-site with the team every day making sure that all work was completed at a high standard. Any time he ran into an issue Dave would bring it to my attention, present possible solutions, and then we'd figure out the best option to move forward. A+ all around!

Being an absentee landlord its critical for me to work with highly reliable and skilled individuals. Super Dave fit the bill and I enthusiastically recommend him. The key areas that differentiate SD from others I’ve worked with include: 1. Being 100% dedicated to the job rather than trying to manage multiple jobs. This made him super reliable and accessible 2. Provided frequent and detailed updates throughout the job 3. Offered a variety of feedback including ideas on how to approach some of the “fixes” I had in mind, opinion on the timing of future work and a variety of insights along the way 4. Showed up early and worked all day 5. Threw in some “extras” along the way (painting an entry way without charge, acting as the general contractor by coordinating with other vendors etc. ) 6. Was personable 7. Last but not least, his work was top notch! While I wouldn’t say that SD was the least expensive handyman I’ve worked with, the overall quality of his work was the best I’ve seen and the peace of mind that he provided along the way was priceless. I look forward to having him continue to add value to my property in the future.

Dave responded very quickly to my inquiry and came out to look at our projects. Dave seemed very knowledgeable and made solid recommendations for our situation, then gave an itemized list of costs. We have had the inside and outside tuckpointing & basement sealing done. The work was done soon after the request was made. They worked hard and did a fantastic job including cleaning up. I expect we will continue to use SuperDave!

I did not hire because the price was so astronomical for such a small and simple job.

Dave, Charlie, & John arrived promptly at 8:00 and worked until 6:00. The quality of their work was above excellent as usual. They are very professional, and do a fantastic job of cleaning up. Dave told me that if they didn't get finished, they would be back the next day, even though it was Sunday. Whenever I have anything that I need done, my first call is always to Dave. Dave will not be the cheapest bid you get, but his work is well worth it.

I don't often (really ever) post reviews on Angie's List. However, I feel very compelled to do so now: I tried to contract SuperDave The Handyman about 2 years ago for some roofing, gutter and fascia work. I called them and left a detailed voice message regarding what work needed to be done. By the time they finally called me back (2 weeks on the nose after I had left the voice message) I had already contracted somebody else for the job. They presented no apology for the tardy response time. NOTE: When I reach out to contractors I don't expect them to call me back the same day or even the next day. But I do expect them to call me back within the same work week. Fast forward to today... As I believe everyone deserves a second chance, I decided to give SuperDave another shot. I called them (Thursday 4/28) about some more fascia and gutter work that needed to be done. Once again, it's been 11 days since I left a voice message with them and I still haven't received a call back. My guess (admittedly speculation) is that SuperDave screens their calls and hand-picks whichever jobs sound the most profitable. The "lesser jobs" likely get buried at the bottom of the heap and addressed only after the more substantial jobs have been satisfied. Although I can understand this kind of approach to a point, it is an extremely flawed business model. And this is why: I have thus far spent about $27,000+/- in repairs/remodeling since the winter of 2013. SuperDave, had they been more professional and courteous (especially when given two chances), may have been the recipient of some of these monies. Again, a simple return phone call during the same week to set up a bid is all that was expected.

Dave and crew removed the old fence and put the scrap into a dumpster he had rented for the job. They built the new fence over two days beating several days of rain right after they finished. The new fence looks great and should last longer than the original which was at least 25 years old. Clean up was fantastic, especially since Dave also organized and cleaned up our garage where they had stored material before work began. The boring insect holes on the garage were filled and painted and the doors cleaned. Looks wonderful. Fountain was cleaned, reassembled and working fine after they left. The iron porch steps railings were sanded, painted and the concrete at the four base pieces was redone to keep out water. Both look new again.

As always, work was done quickly, professionally, and cleanup after.

I have no basis for a rating on SuperDave's work. My comments are strictly about his responsiveness. I called and left a message twice asking the company to call to set up an appointment, but there was no response. I persisted because of the great ratings on Angie's list, so I took a chance and actually scheduled a meeting online. It wasn't until I did that that anyone responded to say they were too busy to do our work and expected to remain so for the foreseeable future. Unresponsive and unprofessional regardless of how good the work is.

All I can say is, "wow"! From start to finish -- Dave and his team were super. He has earned his name, SuperDave The Handyman; and his crew was equally wonderful! Let's be honest....it is hard work to remove fence posts sunk in concrete. But the team was able to get more than 27 removed in a day. What is even more impressive is that they took time and care to ensure the end product was 'exactly what I needed and envisioned' -- including picket type, picket height and picket spacing. Having worked with the larger fence companies before, they would have just slapped it up and said, 'here you go.' Not Dave and his team. They worked hard and have earned a lifetime customer. Thanks gentlemen for being professional and providing a quality end product.

Dave and his crew were punctual, polite and very professional. The work was completed on time and with top shelf results. I highly recommend Dave and his firm for any work to be done around the house.

Great! Dave met me promptly at the agreed time, gave me an acceptable bid and started work immediately. After removal of the junk, Dave took the time to sweep up.

We did not use this provider, though he sounded perfect for what we needed, because he never returned our phone calls.

The entire experience was excellent. SuperDave and his team lived up to their wonderful reviews on Angie's List. They are knowledgeable, punctual, and hard workers. In addition, they clean-up superbly well after the work is complete. Tearing out plaster and lath is a messy process, and, if done correctly, needs to take into account what wires may be lurking behind the surface. SuperDave has a depth of experience doing all types of work in old homes. He and his team do everything from small jobs to full renovations. Therefore, this project was squarely in their strike zone. We could not have asked for a better job and will hire them again.

Dave and his team built me an amazing walk in closet in my unfinished basement. I had little closet space and he solved that problem. His team was extremely professional and nice. They got the closet completed in one day. He also did some smaller items in the process. I have used his services many times in the last year and never disappoints. I highly recommend him for any job.
