SuperDave The Handyman

I called Superdave and explained the issue. He came to the house, checked out the situation, told me what he was going to do to fix the problem. Scheduled a time to do the work. Came back as planned and fixed it. He was friendly and professional and worked the weekend to get the job done as soon as possible.

I was satisfied with him. It was good working with him. He had some time constraints and I was out of town off and on, but he kept in contract till he found match for the material. I will definitely use him again.

Overall my experience with SuperDave The Handyman was a pleasant experience. I don't recommend anyone to have to have their home damaged by a storm in the Midwest, but if you do, SuperDave is the one to call!

I am so disappointed. Dave, you were so prompt and good in repairing my roofing issue a couple months ago. I emailed you about additional handyman jobs I need done. Two days later you emailed and said you'd call the next morning. No communication came. The next week I left 2 voice mail messages for you, and still haven't received a return call. If your schedule is full, no problem, just say so. This just makes you look unreliable. I'm sure you understand I'll have to take my business elsewhere.

I called Dave from SUPERDAVE THE HANDYMAN on Wednesday night at 8. He was at my house the first thing on Thursday. He diagnosed the problem, gave me a verbal bid over the phone and committed to getting materials and coming on Saturday in the morning to fix it.

I attempted to contact Super Dave on 4/26/12 after reading all the rave reviews on Angies List. I left a message on his phone and also left a message on his Facebook page. I was looking for someone to come out and look at my roof for possible leaks. I have yet to hear from SuperDave and will continue to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, this had to be my first negative review on Angie's List. I'm sure he does great work, but without returning a phone call, there is no way to know for sure.

We noticed that shingles were raised up on our roof and that some seemed to be flapping from the top of a dormer. We do not have the equipment or the desire to get up on the roof to make repairs. We went on Angie's List and saw SuperDave and emailed him on the evening of the 19th of April. That same evening he emailed back that he would come over that weekend to take a look. He came over on the 21st and got up on the roof and found some other damage that needed to be repaired (and took pictures to show us). He also indicated that our gutters were packed and needed to be cleaned. Again too high for us to do ourselves without proper equipment. He gave us a written estimate, asked us to look it over and give him a call and he would get to it quickly because of the threat of rain in the forecast. We called on the 22nd in the morning, he called back that evening and he came out on the 23rd to do the job. We were impressed with his responsiveness and the ability to get the job done quickly. We would certainly use SuperDave again for future jobs at our house.

I called and left two messages on two different occasions. No one ever called back. Quite a ridiculous way to run a business.

Very prompt response to my initial contact. Told me the area needing repair, which I could see once he pointed it out, and it was limited to the garage area. He did tell me the rest of the roof looked to be in really good shape. Gave me an estimate and did the work that same day. It looks great, and he left the rest of the roof tiles that were purchased in case I need them again.

Things went very well. Dave and his team did an excellent job with the ceiling repairs and the repair/painting of the front of the house. Dave also made sure that we were completely satisfied with the work and did a great job cleaning up after the work was completed. Dave also did some extras that we weren't expecting. Overall, it was a great experience. The 'B' for responsiveness was due to a little phone tag while trying to get a start date identified. Once we got past that, everything went well.

I used Dave's services last year and was very happy with his quick response, professionalism and the quality of his work. I have previously written a very positive report about him. I was therefore very surprised to leave two messages and get no response from him. I noticed a previous comment from Dave to a review commenting on his lack of responsiveness. Dave stated he didn't know what the writer was talking about. I am wondering if there is a problem with his answering machine. March 30th was the second call I made to Dave with no response. I'm hoping that by posting this he will reply with a statement that he was out of town or that he is unaware of my two calls. If that is the case I recommend he get a new answering machine and I would be happy to try again. In the meantime, I have to find another person to perform my project. Hope this lack of responsiveness can be figured out because he was so good last year.

He did agreat job and the cost was reasonable. Would recommend him.

Super Dave was great to work with. He ended up having to be out of town between receiving our request and fulfilling it, but he was extremely apologetic and then got the job done very quickly on a Sunday morning. We would use Super Dave again.

We were having some issues with outside water seeping through a section of wall in the basement of our 100-year-old home. We also had some surficial cracks in the stone basement wall and mortar that was turning to dust that the previous owner had whitewashed over prior to the sale of the home. While working with Super Dave on other home repairs, we had him look at our basement to assess the situation and provide an estimate to seal the entire basement. We agreed upon the work and in short order Super Dave arrived with a team of four to begin the labor-intensive effort. His team draped all of our possessions in the basement and laid down ground covering around the perimeter of the basement to protect the floor. The Super Dave team then wire-brushed the walls and chipped out all the old, crumbling mortar. They commenced to re-mortaring all the exposed stone joints and entirely re-mortared the wall that had been seeping. His team then Dry-Locked all the walls, generously applying the Dry-Lock on all the walls and applying additional coats to our problem wall. The entire job took three days spread over a week, and the Super Dave crew thoroughly cleaned up after each day worked. Their work was put to the test about a week later when St. Louis was hit with a day of heavy thunderstorms and rain showers – no water intrusion, including the old problem wall. It is clear that Super Dave takes pride in his work; he guaranteed our walls would be dry, and he even called us a day after the storms passed to see how things went in our basement. Super Dave consistently delivers quality workmanship for a fair price, and he’s a great guy to boot. We recommend Super Dave to our friends and co-workers because we value his integrity and the skill with which he completes every job.

In mid-Feb. 2012, for evidence of dining room ceiling leakage (no actual dripping), called 2 Angie's List handymen and one other for bids on repair. Other two called back and came to scope out problem and provide bid. "SuperDave" never called me back, and I've since learned he never returned the call of a friend who requested help. I understand reports with no work done don't weigh as much as others, but Dave was neither responsive nor professional. I will most definitely not call again or recommend him to anyone else.

Called on Monday morning. Made an appointment for Tuesday noon for an estimate. He was able to fix it when he came out so I was thrilled.

Will see what happens tomorrow. All in all, far better experience that expected.

Super! The new roof looks fantastic!

I called SuperDave after I discovered 2 areas in my ceiling that were leaking. Dave came over, inspected roof and determined what the problem was. He was able to fix the roof that day, so he did. We made plans for him to come back to tackle some minor handyman repairs. He did a great job...I appreciated the quick response, the quality of his work and wouldn't hesitate to use him again. Thanks SD!

We had a leaking porch roof and found Super Dave as a highly rated handyman on Angie’s List. We contacted Super Dave to consult on the work required, and he promptly responded by coming to our home on a Sunday. He showed up at the appointed hour, assessed the level of effort required, and provided a thorough estimate on the spot. We accepted his bid, and he even came back later on Sunday to show us samples of roofing shingles. He returned in two days to replace the roof and finished the job within a day. Repairing the subroof entailed more work and materials than originally assessed, but he honored his original bid and completed all work without additional cost to us. Super Dave even patched a hole in the facia board that a bird had made. He followed up with us later that afternoon to ensure we were satisfied with his work. He did a great job, the roof looks brand new, and we are considering him for additional work on our home. We will definitely recommend Super Dave to our friends; he was courteous, friendly, helpful, and skilled at the work he accomplished. Thanks Super Dave!

Removed wallpaper in living room and replastered. Replastered and caulked ceiling and corner areas. Prepared inside wall removing loose areas from water damage and spot plasterered. All areas were primed and ready to paint.

SuperDave was one of three companies I called for estimates. Another company underbid him by $25, but sometimes you go with your gut rather than just on price. And I really wanted to see what Dave was able to due, since I had a had another project that I needed some help with, and Dave does a lot of different stuff. Glad I did. First of all, Dave is very professional; don't be fooled by the silly superman reference - his work is fantastic. Dave also goes above and beyond to get the job done right, I was having the interior wall re-plastered after water damage, and he went up and checked out the chimney to make sure the chimney had been fixed appropriately. Dave is also timely, both getting to the jobsite on time, and also getting the job done within the time expected. There is a reason SuperDave has gotten such great reviews on Angie's List. I know when I start my next project, I'll be giving him the first call.

SuperDave called me on Sunday because it was dry, sunny and wamer - a good day to do roof repair. He arrived on time and inspected the roof. Then he asked if he could see the leaking from inside. While on my roof he found another area around the chimney that had not leaked on my ceiling yet but certainly would start. He found the water was coming in around the plumbing vents. He gave me a written estimate, explained the work and his guarantee. And he could repair the roof right away. I asked if he could also removed an old TV antenna "while he was there." He not only removed it but also caulk the roof where the antenna was and haul it away! That's great service. I had estimates from roofing companies that I could not afford but the water leaks were starting to damage the plaster on the inside of the house and I needed to do something. So when SuperDave came and charged $100 for the repairs, he was certainly SUPER. I live in an 80 year old house so there is always something that needs to be fixed. I will definitely call him for future work. I asked him for an estimate on building a closet - 80 year old homes have tiny closets. Today he just emailed me pictures of a cedar closet that he built out of real cedar wood. It is beautiful.

I called and left a message on answering machine 12/5/11; he called me back on 12/10/11apologizing he was out of town for a family funeral and asked if I still needed his help. I did, so he offered to come out on Sunday, 12/11/11 to look at my roof. Dave was punctual, efficient and nice to work with. The job was done on the same day so I have a repaired roof and can move onto to other things.
