We originally called Dave to tear down our deck and put in a stair case. Instead, Dave and Charlie told us they could save our deck, which ended up saving us over $500. The work was done on time and it looks great.

Before Super Dave, we had other service providers attempt to fix the leak without success. Super Dave really came through for us. He not only fixed the leak, but offered a guarantee. He was professional, clean, thorough. His co-worker Chuck was really good, too. I would highly recommend Super Dave and plan to call him soon for our next project!!

Not an easy fix. Had to remove all the grout from the shower walls to ensure all possible areas were sealed to prevent from leaking. It was worth the extra effort though cause now the leak is fixed and the customer is happy. Thanks for the work, We truly appreciate it!

The gate looks wonderful They did an excellent job. the concrete work turned out great and i love the way it looks. There were no problems with either the gate or the concrete work.If you need this type of work or anything else done around the house call Super Dave, He has done lots of different jobs for me and for many years.
Description of Work: Super DAVE and Charlie installed a gate on the side of my house. It is connected to my fence and made out of the same woo d pickets . It can only be opened from my yard and there is a place on the handle if you want to put a lock. Dave also did some concrete work on the bottom of my front step. the concrete was falling apart. He put a row of bricks in the connect.and that should take care of the problem.

Overall Dave and his crew did a very good job and were able to complete the job in a very timely fashion. Charlie was very courteous and nice to remind us a few things during the conversation: be careful with my 5 year old when the screen is still getting put on (make sure she doesn't fall off the window); the vines growing on the old tree in the back should be pulled out otherwise will kill the tree, etc. They also rinsed the deck and the furnitures. Although the water came in through the wall into the basement because we had cracked pipes from winter time and not realizing it until they used the hoses. That brought the bad news but also helped us identified the additional issues that needed attention right away.

This job required special ordering some extremely large oversized screen material. When the original porch was constructed, Fiberglass screen was used. After a short period of time the panels were all falling out. We used heavy gauge charcoal aluminum screen Which should give them a long lasting product. Dave came on the 16th and gave me a written estimate that I immediately agreed to. He said that he would come out on Saturday, weather permitting, but if it was forcast for rain, he's try to come Friday. I got a call on Friday morning, and Dave said it looked like rain Saturday, so he adjusted his schedule and would come out and do it. I went out, and by the time I came back the steps were done. They look beautiful! I would highly recommend Super Dave, and plan to use his service again in the future.
Description of Work: The bottom step of the concrete stairs leading from my back door had a chunk missing. Dave repaired the step and cracks in the other steps and resurfaced the back steps all the way up to look uniform and strengthen the existing steps.

I wanted to give immediate attention to this job. The customer has a young puppy. When estimating the work I noticed the puppy got her paw caught in the bottom step as she was coming out with us. I could see the puppy getting hurt if immediate attention wasn't done so I rearranged my schedule knowing it was to rain on the scheduled date for completion. Everything went fine. The house looks great. Dave does very good work and leaves everything clean when he is done I would recommend super Dave for anything you need done around the house.

SuperDave and his partner Charlie are AWESOME! I saw his ratings on Angie's List and then a friend at work told me she has used him for 20 years to do all kinds of jobs, big and small at her home. I am putting my house on the market and wanted one contractor to do the work instead of multiple companies. SuperDave called me right back, wrote the estimate on the spot, started the work immediately, and had it done in 2 days despite pouring rain on one of those days. I have a gut rehab home that is 107 years old and a giant dog who had scratched the living daylights out of the interior stained finishes to my front and back doors. But SuperDave and Charlie did a fantastic job refinishing them. They also did a great job on the master shower and patched and repainted the kitchen sealing where there was a water stain from the shower. They also repainted the exterior of all of my doors, fixed a leak in my garage roof, and put a new veneer under my kitchen sink cabinet that looks far better than the original. These guys are punctual, neat, friendly, and meticulous about their work. SuperDave is not cheap because he does quality work and uses the best materials. If I were staying in STL, he would always be my go-to guy. I only hope I can find someone as good as him in my new city! Many thanks SuperDave and especially for making friends with my not so friendly dog!

Great quality work as always. Super Dave's repair job on the loose panels of our garage door will give us more use of the old wooden door, helping delay an expensive replacement project until we're ready for it. It's looking good and working great!

When we were doing the original reapirs on this customers doors I noticed that one of the doors we had fixed had the wrong handles on it including the hardware. Just days later I was at a architectural salvage and noticed one that would be a close match. I called and asked if I should purchase it and they agreed. When I had arrived to install it and do a minor deck repair their garage door bottom had failed and they couldn't close the door. I did a couple minor repairs to it so that it would be operable until it could be replaced completely by a door company. Since it was going to be a major cost to replace it and I was already there. Very impressed. They repaired it in one afternoon. The bill was $200.00 less than what was estimated. When I called him after the recent toronado, he came out and checked the work at no additional cost to me.

This customer had extensive storm damage that had ripped of the rear corner of her home. It looked worse than it was when I was estimating it. Once we removed the damage I found a way to save her some cash doing it slightly a different way. After the repairs we made you couldn't even tell it had happened with the repairs matching the existing very well. About a month or so later she had called stating something was loose after another storm. I arrived the next day only to find the gutter guard had lifted from the strong winds and it had nothing to do with our repairs. I snapped it all back in place and let her know it was all repaired. She asked me what the cost was and I told her not to worry about it. It was only a minor repair. Climbed on steep roof in shady icy spot to access and eventually replace a row of shingles. Took pictures of current status, provided a quote, procured replacement supplies, and performed work all on day service requested. I have a very high roof with steep pitch and I felt confident that Super Dave knew what he was doing. He was very prompt.

The customer called stating she had shingles missing on her home. It was 2-1/2 stories tall and had a very steep pitch. Once on the roof I noticed there was frost covering the roof where the repair was needed. I took pictures and showed he exactly what needed repaired. I then gave her a quote and she accepted it. I then went and purchased the supplies for the repair. Upon returning the frost had thawed enough for me to make the repairs. Normally a job like this would have been cheaper than quoted but there was several risk factors that reflected in the price. I'm not sure why the customer gave me a "B" on professionalism cause I went above and beyond to complete the repairs immediately keeping her home leak free. I had some storm damage on my home and I called Super Dave, who promptly came out to give me an estimate. I found the estimate acceptable and Dave located as close to matching material as he could and did a good job repairing the damage. Dave was friendly and professional throughout the entire process and I would definetely use Super Dave again in the future. I gave a more detailed explanation at the time of service that is probably still out there on Angie's website.

I am not sure why some members are so eager to post a negative review for not receiving a return call. It's not like I have made an appointment with them and not showed up or something. Spring is a peak time with many phone calls coming in. If I was a larger company I would have a receptionist answering the phone immediately with an estimator to your home within hours of receiving your call. But, this is not the case. I personally make the appointments, Estimate the work, Write the estimate, Do the shopping for materials and complete the work itself. By the time I get home it may be 8 o'clock before I even eat dinner. For me to return calls that late in the evening wouldn't be very professional in my opinion. At peak times it requires me to do my estimates after my workday and on weekends. My main focus is to complete the contracts that I have signed 1st over future work. I want each and every customer that has actually hired me 100% satisfied with them getting exactly what I have promised them and have been hired to do. If a customer needs something immediately and I haven't called them back, It may be in their best interest to try another contractor that isn't so busy. I would love to be able to rush to each and every call and obtain every job that comes in. It's just not possible. Here is a short example. Say you hire me to put a roof on your home. I come to your job and remove your existing roof. Then, A future customer calls and I race off to get them a bid that I may not even get. Then it rains that night and water pours into your home. How happy would you be? It would be very easy for me to just concentrate on returning phone calls and estimating work. The problem with that would be that I would have to subcontract my work. By doing this it would create a whole new set of problems. I've tried it from 1999-2001. It did not work. I would give simple direction to the workers and it would most always be wrong. It left me constantly having to babysit making sure the job was done right when i could have done it better and faster myself. When people hire me, They get myself and my small crew period. They get everything I have promised them in writing just as they should. So, I guess I am just going to have to deal with some possible customers being irritated that I did not call them back immediately. Satisfying my actual customer by far overweighs and negative that can be placed on here. Especially when I have never even worked for this person. All I can do is hope that customers will read all my reviews and see that the reviews I have received from customers I have actually worked for are outstanding. We strive for the best reviews possible. However, I CANNOT satisfy everyone, all of the time. I really wish I could but I CAN"T. So, with this being said, I really want to offer my sincere apology to EACH AND EVERY CUSTOMER that I have not returned a phone call to. It is not that we do not value your business. It has just been impossible to keep up with the demand. We could not survive without you. Thank you very much for even considering my company.

Great Experience. Will call Super Dave again.
Description of Work: After a horrible storm, I noticed a water mark on the ceiling. Oh no, I thought. I called SuperDave at 7 am the next morning and I actually spoke to him. He came out to view the damage at 10 am and everything was completed by Noon. That's great service. He took photos of the roof to show us the damage and his estimate was more than reasonable. I'm working on a list of other projects around the house and I will call SuperDave to do the work. Great experience.

I was very happy to help, Especially with all the rain we were expecting. With that much rain, I bet your ceiling would be on the floor about now. I do my best to keep my estimates reasonable and fair to both the customer and myself. When estimating work, I always try to show the customer exactly what needs to be done so there is no confusion. That is the reason my digital camera is so handy. If the repair is in a location that the customer cannot see, I just take a picture and show them. You gotta love technology! I decided to call angies list to help me find a reliable roofer. Angies list said that Dave the Handyman was someone who was reliable and trustworthy. I was called by the customer stating she had several roof leaks. I immediately suggested to her that it may be a good idea to call her insurance agent knowing hail had hit that area recently. She called back and gave me a time that the adjuster was to look at the roof. I arrived apx.15 minutes early and inspected the damage. When the adjuster arrived, He agreed with some of my findings but did not cover everything. He only covered half the roof (roll roofing) and half the gutters and downspouts. However, He did cover all of the interior damage. He stated that what i thought might possibly be hail damage was actually heat build up due to poor ventilation. That is why it was not covered. I immediately wrote the customer an estimate to do the entire roof cause what they were covering was not going to rectify the problem. I suggested to her that it may be a good idea to convert the interior repair money paid to the exterior. She agreed and we put a complete new shingle roof, roll roof, dormer siding and gutters on the home. When removing the old roof we noticed that the roof siding was not flashed properly and there was severe wood rot in several locations. In order to ensure a long lasting quality product we completed these repairs without additional cost. When we were completed I showed her pictures of what we found and how we had just taken care of it. We also moved the roof vent and added an additional to provide her attic with the proper ventilation required so this would not happen again. Upon final payment she payed me for the additional materials I had used with us doing the labor for free. It was a pleasure working for this customer and I look forward to estimating any projects she may have in the future. Thanks for the work!

My kitchen was depressing to eat in.... Dave fixed the broken plaster walls, painted the walls and ceiling, replaced an old lighting fixture, and made me a microwave shelf to get the machine off the counter and over the stove. He and his helper were polite, timely, and worked all day to make my kitchen look good as new... The plaster looks great... friends and a few neighbors have already come by to see the work and are interested in having him help in their homes... Dave has a great sense of humor, and it was a pleasure doing business with him.... Would have him back again, because my husband is not the best at handy work... and he knows it...! Oh.. even after all that... Super Dave washed my kitchen windows (not in the contract) when he was cleaning up.. Thanks Super Dave!!! Now, I may even cook a few meals!!!

I am so amazed. My kitchen turned out better than I expected. Dave and his partner were cheerful throughout the entire day ? even with ?helpful? noisy puppies and my crying granddaughter. They arrived on the minute and started right away. Dave knew how to retrofit my antique wood dish rack and buffet. He framed, drywalled, plastered, installed new shut-off valves on the water lines in the basement and under the sink, and had a lot of plumbing that needed to be repaired. Dave also installed the new faucet and mounted the sink on the buffet top. He even tightened my gate post, which was loose on the brick wall. When the old cabinets were removed, there were huge holes in the plaster, broken lathe and water damage. After he started he found more problems - the main house water valve did not turn, the sink shut offs were useless, a previous plumbing fix was not right, and my old sink needed plugs for the new faucet. He talked with me every time he found a new problem or had a question. Dave and his partner even matched the textured plastered ceiling! And since the back of the buffet is wainscoting they patched the pieces that were cut for the plumbing. They cleaned everything and took the trash to the curb because it was heavy. When it came time for the invoice, I was shocked. He made it right and didn?t charge more for it. He was also very good working around my pups, and is definitely pet friendly. This is a project I started a couple of years ago and could not complete. I think waiting turned out to be a benefit because Dave did an amazing job. My kitchen is gorgeous. It turned from embarrassing to a place I am proud to show off.
Description of Work: Dave remodeled my kitchen which was a huge task. He drywalled and plastered large holes in the wall, framed the wall to mount an antique all wood plate rack, retrofitted an antique buffet as a sink base and installed a new faucet on an existing sink. While doing the work I contracted, he found several problems – it’s an old house. Dave fixed a bad plumbing job from a previous plumber, replaced the sink shut off valves since they didn’t work, installed brass shut off valves on the water lines in the basement and fixed the main house water shut off because it would not turn. These were all plumbing problems that were not part of the contract but he fixed them anyway because he wanted the job done right! Thank you Dave.

Working on an older home can most definitely become a challenge. When working on a home with age there is the possibility of running across homeowner/do it yourself band aid repairs. Many were found on this job with us doing our best for it to not affect the original estimate. To do a job RIGHT is the most important thing. Dave arrived as scheduled to bid the job. He sent the proposal immediately. He and his co-worker arrived on time and worked both quickly and safely. They cleaned everything up very well and took $50.00 off the original price by cutting the debris up so that it could be recycled or handled easily in the appropriate dumpsters. He has a great attitude. I would hire him again for sure.

Dave was on time. He climbed up to the second story roof and took some pictures for me to review back on the ground. We saw what needed to be done. He went back up and was done in about 10 minutes and brought back more pictures of the work done. Looks like we're sealed up now. All three vents were patched up. My only minor issue was with the price. Considering it was a 10 minute job, that's pretty good pay, but then again, I'm not sure anybody else would have been any cheaper and it needed to get done.
Description of Work: I had noticed that the rubber and/or roofing cement had worn off one of my sewer vents on the roof. Since the roof will probably need replacing in a few years anyway, I just wanted to apply some roofing cement material around the vents to make them leak proof for a few more years.

Dave came on time and started quickly. He put drywall on the studs where needed and taped/mudded both walls. He also finished the windows that had studs showing on the sides. Dave also made and installed window sills. He covered the floors to keep dust minimal. He then primed and painted the walls. He was able to repair a sticking back door.
Description of Work: The basement of the house we bought had two walls with drywall screwed to the studs, but no mud or paint. Part of one wall was bare studs. We had used SuperDave before (at our old house) and liked his work. We had him come look at the job and were comfortable with his bid. We didn't get any other bids because we liked his work and wanted him to do it and he could do the job right away.

The finish work on this job turned out amazing. It took my partner and I an additional 5 hours each of plastering with no additional cost to end up with this final result. Whoever installed the drywall originally did a poor job. This made it more difficult to complete the finish work.
