Description of Work: Superdave Handyman service was a great experience all the way around! Dave was friendly, responsive, and prompt with all callbacks and appointments. He did a great job communicating with me regarding the work to be done and the plan for when/how he was going to complete it. He even called the night prior to the service appointment to verify everything was "good to go." What impressed me the most about Superdave was his experience and/or expertise. I have an older, South City brick home with which he was very knowledgeable (i.e. plaster walls, fixtures, tuck pointing, hardware, plumbing, roofing, and tiling). He brought his trustworthy partner, Charlie, (also very skilled and personable) and they got several jobs completed in one work day. He followed up appropriately to ensure my satisfaction with the work - which I ceratinly was!

I am not sure why some members are so eager to post a negative review for not receiving a return call. It's not like I have made an appointment with them and not showed up or something. The message on my phone clearly states "ALL CALLS WILL BE ANSWERED IN THE ORDER THAT THEY ARE RECEIVED" Spring is a peak time with many phone calls coming in. If I was a larger company I would have a receptionist answering the phone immediately with an estimator to your home within hours of receiving your call. But, this is not the case. I personally make the appointments, Estimate the work, Write the estimate, Do the shopping for materials and complete the work itself. By the time I get home it may be 8 o'clock before I even eat dinner. For me to return calls that late in the evening wouldn't be very professional in my opinion. At peak times it requires me to do my estimates after my workday and on weekends. My main focus is to complete the contracts that I have signed 1st over future work. I want each and every customer that has actually hired me 100% satisfied with them getting exactly what I have promised them and have been hired to do. If a customer needs something immediately and I haven't called them back, It may be in their best interest to try another contractor that isn't so busy. I would love to be able to rush to each and every call and obtain every job that comes in. It's just not possible. Here is a short example. Say you hire me to put a roof on your home. I come to your job and remove your existing roof. Then, A future customer calls and I race off to get them a bid that I may not even get. Then it rains that night and water pours into your home. How happy would you be? It would be very easy for me to just concentrate on returning phone calls and estimating work. The problem with that would be that I would have to subcontract my work. By doing this it would create a whole new set of problems. I've tried it from 1999-2001. It did not work. I would give simple direction to the workers and it would most always be wrong. It left me constantly having to babysit making sure the job was done right when I could have done it better and faster myself. When people hire me, They get myself and my small crew period. They get everything I have promised them in writing just as they should. So, I guess I am just going to have to deal with some possible customers being irritated that I did not call them back immediately. Satisfying my actual customer by far overweighs any negative that can be placed on here. Especially when I have never even worked for this person. All I can do is hope that customers will read all my reviews and see that the reviews I have received from customers I have actually worked for are outstanding. We strive for the best reviews possible. However, I CANNOT satisfy everyone, all of the time. I really wish I could but I CAN'T. So, with this being said, I really want to offer my sincere apology to EACH AND EVERY CUSTOMER that I have not returned a phone call to. It is not that we do not value your business. It has just been impossible to keep up with the demand. We could not survive without you. Thank you very much for even considering my company.

Great job. Would hire again.
Description of Work: We were contacted soon after we requested a bid. Charlie came on a Friday, gave us a bid which we accepted on the spot. Charlie came the following morning per our request at 7:30am. He installed a butcher block counter on our kitchen half wall, leveled and secured a pantry cabinet, hung cabinet doors and installed drawer handles. Charlie pre-drilled the holes for the one drawer handle we were short. Charlie did a great job and Dave responded quickly to our request and followed up after the job.

Description of Work: I just can't remember it was awhile ago. Seems to me he fixed my garage door and I don't remember how much but it was reasonable. Dave is pleasant to work with and does good work. Only problem? He's so busy it's hard to get him.

Description of Work: Super Dave was so the first time around, we invited him back for a return engagement. We needed our rear deck washed, stripped and sealed. Additionally, there is a large arbor in two sections that needed to be stripped and painted. Super Dave did it all in three days - long, hard days where he started early and stayed late - with extraordinary attention to detail. The thing that you can count on with Dave is that he will always do a job in the way that he knows is best. Painstaking and meticulous attention to detail, no short cuts, and always the highest quality work. What's more, he is monumentally dependable. He starts early, stays late, works diligently until the job is done, and leaves the camp site as he found it at the end of each work day. The best handy man in STL, bar none!

This deck turned out AMAZING! I myself was impressed with the final result. I used a new product that filled all the coarse areas on the deck surface. I most definitely will be using this product again. It had huge overhead structures that required lots of climbing for two straight long days. The customer was roasting a turkey on day two torturing me with the aroma. Upon completion, He and his wife presented me with a large portion as a tip for my wife and I. It was DELICIOUS!!! Description of Work: Super Dave rebuilt and painted a picket fence, rebuilt and painted gates to the fence, and rebuilt and painted our front porch. It was a staggering amount of detailed work, as the pickets had to be hand cut and the porch (it is a very old house) had odd sized flooring. He and his partner showed up early, stayed late, were meticulous about detail, and produced an exceptionally high quality result. Once they were on our job, they stayed on it until completion - a huge factor for us, as we've had handymen simply stop showing up in the middle of a job. Prices were fair and he cleaned up after himself every night, not leaving us with a construction site for a home. On top of everything else, he's a nice guy: funny, smart, insightful. He is quite simply he best and most reliable handy man that we have dealt with in St. Louis.

This was a very old large fence to repair. A 170' to be exact. There was major rot going on with the support posts and pickets. We replaced all the posts and had to custom cut the pickets to match the existing style of the fence. The gates were all in terrible shape so all were rebuilt matching the existing 1900 style. I used the best cast iron hardware that could be obtained to keep it's architectural integrity. All was primed completely to help deter future rot then top coated with Brod-Dugan paint. It all turned out amazing and is sure to hold up for years to come. We really appreciate the business and thanks for choosing SuperDave The Handyman for your improvement needs.

Description of Work: My parents began using SuperDave for handy services over 15 years ago, and our family has since used his company exclusively for all our home repair and remodeling needs. I started using SuperDave in my own home about 3.5 years ago. He has completely demolished an old screen porch and turned it into a year round play room for my son, repaired and repainted kitchen cabinets, repaired and repainted our bathroom, living room and hallway, and fully insulated and rebuilt the flooring in our attic. We have always been extremely happy with every job Dave, Sue and Charlie have done - the quality is unbeatable and lasting. The crew is extremely professional and always leaves my house looking better than it did before they started working on it! I will always recommend Super Dave to anyone needing any repair or remodeling to their home, and I would never use anyone but this talented, hardworking crew! I am looking forward to them coming back in the spring to paint my bedroom and repair my basement stairwell! Also, the crew is sooo nice. I enjoy their company as much as I love their work. You guys are the best!!

Description of Work: Privacy fence for back yard with gate: I met with Super Dave and told him what I wanted done. After receiving his timely bid the next day I hired Super Dave. I had already received bids from 2 other companies and felt Super Dave had the most to offer. I liked his persona, rate, business expertise, welcomed assistance . I am so happy that I made the right decision. I needed a privacy fence and decided on cedar after weighing out my options and SD helped me with that. There were many reasons to go with cedar that I was unaware of. I liked the fact that he welcomed all my questions. Dave did all the prep work, paperwork, etc. prior to having the crew begin installation. He was SO incredibly organized!!!! The entire fence and gate was installed in one day's time and it looks beautiful. No hassles at all; it was a great experience. I plan on having Super Dave for other work i.e., kitchen, flooring, landscaping. I definitely recommend Super Dave the Handy Man Company. It was a pleasure having him and his crew do the job ! OVERALL Experience A.
