Schulz Painting - Remodeling Company

Everything turned out pretty well. There was one person here doing the work. I did not have to supervise him. He was pretty quick on the job.

I bought an Angies list big deal from Tom Shulz and also had an extensive list of things I wanted done. He came over and looked at everything and then sent an estimate. He was professional in mannerism and has had many years of experience doing this job. He is easy to get in touch with by text and always promptly answered when I texted. Tom spent over a week in my house painting hallways, doors, trim and my family room. He repaired cracks in several ceilings and moved a ceiling fixture for me. He also did a drywall return on a recent replaced window. He painted my hallway twice because the first time I didn't like the color. Of course I paid for it to be repainted but he had a very good attitude about it! Didn't mind redoing it for me at all. He paints fast (from many years of experience I was told!) and does it well. I had something come up one day and couldn't be at home so I waited until he got here and then left all day. He let himself out the way I asked so the house would be locked up when he left and it was fun to come home and see all the progress! I had no worries about leaving him in my house whatsoever. There were other things I added to my list the week he was here that came up and he was always happy to do them if he could. He replaced some trim around one of the doors that was not a typical width for door framing so he came up with a solution that worked well...so innovative as well! All in all I am pleased with the job and he was happy to come back quickly and fix something I had an issue with. I will use Tom again for my future painting and drywall needs!

Tom did a nice job on all aspects of a very large job. We would hire Tom again if we were in need of similar services. A few things that sets Tom apart in our minds were: his excellent responsiveness to our needs and concerns, the bread of skills that he brought to the job, and his trustworthiness. We were fairly picky relative to our expectations and, first and foremost, Tom was committed to meeting our expectations. He was very committed to making everything "right." Tom was able to handle many jobs that needed to be completed in addition to the painting. Carpentry, drywall, minor electrical, etc were all within his comfort range. Also of primary importance was our ability to trust Tom in our home. He meticulously cleaned up every day before leaving and did everything possible to minimize the disruption in our home. We (and specifically my wife) felt very comfortable leaving Tom to his work as she ran errands or picked up our kids from school. We are very pleased with his work and service. Thanks Tom.

Work was done well and on budget, great communication throughout the process! As with any good contractor, he gets booked up so we had to wait several months before he started the work after sending in the down-payment. Not a big deal since we weren't in a big rush. Impressed with the good solutions he had for fixing a tough issue.

SHULZ PAINTING WAS VERY PUNCTUAL AND FINISHED WORK IN TIME FRAME HE SAID IT WOULD BE DONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES TO OTHERS.

Tom came an accessed the situation, got a game plan and came back to fix what was a pretty gnarly crack in our ceiling drywall. He went out of his way to accommodate my scheduling needs. I have other drywall repairs needed and I will certainly be calling Tom back as he was very professional and knowledgeable.

Tom is a one man operation who comes with his own equipment and knows exactly how to set things up and get the job started. Afterwards he takes time to clean things up including sweeping the floor. Upon our initial meeting Tom and I went through each room discussing repairs and colors. Although the first quote I received was for the entire house, each room was broken down individualyl. This was helpful since I decided to do only two rooms and the hall, but know in the future what my costs are for the other rooms. Price included all material and paint; remaining paint was given to me at the end of the job. While painting two closets Tom noticed the base was missing. For a small fee he was able to replace the missing base.

Tom Schulz is IT: Demolition Man, Carpenter, Electrician, Wallboard Installer, and Plasterer. Although we did not need a Plumber, surely he would have been able to do that, also. Tom literally transformed the office area described above. it had previously looked shabby at best with its Styrofoam drop ceiling, rectangular long tube fluorescent ceiling light, and cheap 1960's brown wood paneling on the South interior wall. Now, the lighting is great, the walls and trim are smooth and nicely painted a subtle shade of green, the AC return blends into the rest of the room, and the ceiling fan and crown molding are nice touches. Then, Tom got to the big bedroom - a small bedroom, breeze porch, and balcony that had been combined. The room has a lot of corners, edges, windows and wall space. Its a lot of work to paint, Tom took his time and paid a lot of attention to details. The quality of his work is remarkable. It was easy to coordinate our comings and goings. He cleaned up after himself as he went along and limited the disaster to the office area. When the office project was complete, he voluntarily removed the old carpet which had been left down to protect the oak floor beneath. Interpersonally, Tom is a pleasant fellow and good conversationalist. He takes his work and reputation very seriously.

I found Tom to be very professional. Once the work was scheduled, he was always very good about being prompt when he was scheduled. He would frequently provide me with updates with regards to how the project was going.My garage is the best looking garage in the neighborhood! Because he did such great work, I have been able to dramatically increase the storage in my house which is very important as I own a Lab puppy who gets into everything. What I appreciate the most about Tom is his attention to detail and his commitment to the job. I would definitely recommend Tom to anyone.

Tom Schulz was nice and professional, but at this time I will not be needing his carpentry service.

Tom was great to work with. He communicated well and performed the work in a professional and timely manner. The finished product looked great. I would certainly use Tom again in the future.

Truck leaked oil in driveway. Unreasonable demands to meet and leave check on very short notice. Did not use the paint he said he was going to. Missed spots.

This is a one-man operation, so timing and scheduling are issues as he is pretty busy. When you can get him, his rates are reasonable and his work professional. What he says, he will do. I trusted him enough to pay him before the job was completed, and he returned and finished the job just as if he was waiting to be paid. I would completely trust him in my home with my valuables and his work is top notch.

Initial contact with John - was a little slow but this was not his fault as I did not notice his request for direct contact rather than through the Angie's List page. He was very polite and saw what needed to be done. After that it took a while to get back in touch with me due to his hectic schedule but he completed the project within 3 days of re-connection. He was very professional and clean and very easy to work with

It was great. He did a great job of repairing a hole in the ceiling above our stairs. He was neat and clean and stuck to the parameters of the Big Deal. Nice guy, too!

Tom is EXCELLENT. My kitchen water pipe burst during the cold winter and ruined my wooden floors. I needed some dry wall repair and painting of all the baseboards through out the house. I reviewed multiple painting companies on the web and found Tom on Angie's List. I picked him for several reasons: his excellent reviews, personal interactions via phone and in person, and also because he made himself available beyond his working hours to expedite this project. We recently had a baby and wanted to move back into the house as soon as possible. Tom took this into consideration and worked on my house after-hours starting in the evenings to ensure that we were able to move back in with the baby. There is no question that Tom is in demand which reflects the quality of his work. He performs all the work himself and you can tell that he takes pride in his craftsmanship. From a technical standpoint, his work is beyond reproach. What was more important for me is that I was able to trust Tom completely in what he said he was going to do and when he was going to do it. I could tell that if he was not going to deliver on what he promised, he was going to be upfront and address the issue immediately and appropriately. The process of working with Tom was smooth and efficient. I recommend him completely and he is my go-to for all painting, dry-wall and remodeling jobs assuming he is available.

He was unable to schedule until June and took a while to return calls. I ended up requesting a refund.

I found Tom to be a true craftsman. He returned my phone calls in a timely manner. When he could not reach me by phone, he would frequently text me. Since the damaged dry wall was a surprise to me, and the adjoining rooms had just been painted Tom went to extraordinary lengths to contain the plaster dust, by putting up plastic everywhere he could. Tom also laid cardboard down to protect my floors. It was the care and professionalism which impressed me the most. Tom treated my home as if it was his own. I liked Tom so much that I have contracted with him to come back out out the house to install drywall in my garage. I would definitely recommend Tom to anyone.

It was great. Tom comes equipped in his truck which seems to be a self contained supply store for everything he could need on a job. His painting was neat, precise and yet efficient. His suggestions on trim work addition to our existing cabinets showed his expertise and when done looked like it was a planned portion of the kitchen all along. The exterior door was also done without any sign of replacement. The transitions were seamless. I was impressed to find such a handy handyman/painter and that he was able to do all of this before our family event. Most of all, it is evident that Tom takes pride in his work which keeps him fully booked, and he doesn't finish a task quickly just to get it done, he does it right the first time. He is neat and respectful to your home, laying tarps and cleaning thoroughly after completion. Within two days we set up a time for him to come and give an estimate, explored the projects and within a couple of days I had email quotes which we felt were quite reasonable. Work was scheduled and completed by our event. We certainly would call Tom again on our next project! We are very happy with the entire experience and enjoyed working with Tom, and getting his valuable advice. Work performed included ceiling drywall repair, ceiling painting, trim work on kitchen cabinets and island, exterior door repair and trim work replacement. I would nominate Tom Schulz as an Angie superstar if I could!

We couldn't schedule a time soon enough. I need the work done sooner than he was able to get us in.

I have not heard back from the company after several calls and an email. I spoke with Mr. Schulz on 4/10 and he has failed to return my calls.

Tom does excellent work. He showed up on time, and made the repairs look better than I thought possible. He also cleaned up after himself nicely. He is very professional and was a pleasure to have in my house. I would highly recommend him.
