They would not come give an estimate because the project was too small. They quoted $97 hr plus materials. This sounded reasonable thinking as they thought it would take 2 hrs max. A conduit was already underneath the patio. They ran the wiring through the conduit and hooked it into an existing outside outlet. The outlet box was installed about a foot off the ground which according to the electrician, was "what we want due to snow". We wanted the box to be 6" lower so as not to be too obvious.

Schaeffer was able to have someone at my home very quickly. I called in the afternoon, and they had someone here at 7am the next morning! The electrician was prompt and professional. He was able to fix my fan by connecting a wire that had somehow become disconnected.

He was excellent, on time, had the right equipment, neat, clean and knew what he was doing. I am especially pleased with the kitchen light because I had another electrician tell me it couldn't be installed. I called Schaeffer Electric and he was able to install it. You get what you pay for.

The work was scheduled for between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. When no one arrived by 11;00 I called to see what the problem was and was told I was scheduled for Wednesday. This was not the case and I told them so, the person on the telephone then checked and said an electrician would be there in 15 minutes. He did arrive and the work was done to my complete satisfaction.

All arrangements were all made via email, which I find convenient. My emails were answered immediately, and the appointment was quick and at a time to suite my schedule. The workman Jason was on time, and he found, explained, and repaired the problem quickly. Overall, it was a good experience. I will use this company again.

I called Vickie on Sunday when the heating circuit went out. She called back Monday morning and scheduled to a have technician come to our house that same day. It took Brian an hour and a half to repair the problem. He was incredibly professional. Experience couldn't have been better.

The 11/30/06 ice storm caused numerous large pine tree branches to break and fall from a neighbor's tree over the fence into my yard, pulling my utility wires down to within a foot of the ground (I still had power). A week later Ameren's lineman came to reposition the lines onto my house, but said I had to call an electrician to replace the broken weather-head over my meter box. I had used Schaeffer Electric several years ago, so after checking Angie's List for members' recent experience with them, I called to request their services. I appreciated the electrician's thoroughness, giving me the option of starting fresh with new equipment, cables, etc. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable, arrived on time, and appears to have done an excellent job. He was here for 3 hours, kept me informed during the process, cleaned up afterwards and took away the old parts, then gave me an itemized bill which I paid before he left. I would definitely hire them again, if needed.

Everything went well. The serviceman explained what he was going to do and that fixed the problem. We were satisfied and felt it was a reasonable price.

The technician, Dan, arrived on time and had a great attitude. He diagnosed the problem quickly and, while he was not able to connect the dimmer switch to the fan light as we'd hoped (older wiring won't mix with newer, we learned!), he was able to get the fan working and to recommend a remote control alternative for dimming the light. He was very careful with the installation, testing each aspect and even putting in the bulbs for the light fixture for me. He also cleaned up after himself well, packing all the leftover materials from the fan back in the box. Finally, he was helpful in discussing a couple of future electrical projects we want to do, giving us a rundown on what would be needed and the approximate costs.

I called Vickie at Schaeffer and explained the problem. She made an appointment for me. Since I only work 15 minutes away from my house, she said she would have the electrician call when he was on his way so I could meet him there and not have to wait around. Dan, the electrician called at the exact time Vickie said he would. He met me at my house, and tested the wiring (I was afraid it was too old and would have to be replaced) which was fine. He replaced both light switches and also tested a ceiling fan's wiring for me. Dan was very professional and efficient. He cleaned up after himself and the whole process took about 35 minutes. I will definitely use Schaeffer again. The price was a little bit high, but not really, when dealing with electricity - you want a skilled professional.

Company promptly returned my phone call and quickly sent representative out for estimate. I used another company with a more competitive bid for this project.

Schaeffer was very prompt and professional. They were true to their bid price and were great at explaining what they needed to do with the unique wiring in our older home.

The estimate was professional and the second best value I received.

As usual Vicki at the office was extremely understanding and helpful. Paul was great. He checked the panel, showed me where the defects existed, and gave me options for replacement panels. This is the second time Paul from Schaeffer has dealt with the eccentricities of our 100+ year old house and we couldn't be happier.

Excellent work! Estimator and service representative were both on time. I am very satisfied with the quality of work and with the fact that there was nothing to clean up after the service rep left. Would definitely use again.

The guy they sent out took 6 to 8 hours for this job, which was entirely too long. Then a remote for a ceiling fan didn't work. However, Schaeffer then sent someone else to fix everything. They then only charged me for the second person. They also said that the first guy isn't allowed to work on his own anymore due to previous complaints. Schaeffer was very understanding of our frustration and very cooperative. We would definitely used them again.

The tech was great, arrived on time and handled the work splendidly. Very professional, made a couple of good suggestions which I used. When I returned home he had. I will give the price a "n/a" grade. $96 an hour for an electrician seems to me to be a bit steep. I may be wrong, but my points of reference are limited to non-existent. In fairness I will not grade the price. But my experience was excellent. I will hire them again and pay the money for the peace of mind.

The electrician, Brian, was right on time, and did a great job. He also advised me on installing other security lights for my yard. I'll be changing other light fixtures in the future and will definitely call them again.

His name was Paul. He was on time and very polite.

I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN, AND THEY HAD A VERY NICE ENGINEER COME OUT AND QUOTE OUR WORK THAT WAS TO BE PERFORMED. THEY SENT AN ELECTRICIAN OUT TO PERFORM THE WORK, BUT THEIR WORK IN PREPARATION PLEASED ME. THEY DIDN'T JUST START GOING IN AND TEARING OUR WIRES, BUT MADE SURE THEY KNEW WHAT IT WAS AND FIXED IT RIGHT.

They're punctual and seem very competent.

The worker arrived promptly, explained the problem, and replaced the outlet. He asked if there was anything else that needed to be done. He was very pleasant and efficient. This was a good experience.

Schaeffer Electrics work was of great quality. The staff was friendly and willing to answer any and every question I had. Very timely and prompt. I will certainly use this company again.
