I wasn’t able to go through with his recommendations. He was thorough in his analysis. He said that I should dig away from the outside and it was just too big of a project for right now.

The owner was very timely and took time to explain how building cracks happen in this region and made recommendations for a more permanent solution as a future job.

Was the busy season for them evidently, so took a little while before they could make it out; When Rob did I explained what I wanted done and why; he then explained to me what he thought should be done prior to doing the work I wanted. Specifically he said it sounded like one of my down spout (the ceramic type) had broken and that sealing the gaps would only help so much and that I should get it 'scoped' and he could come back and do that as well when he did the other work. Then explained what that work would involve and quoted me a price for the work. I happened to have a scope so I went ahead and did that, turns out he was right; three other people had come out to give me quotes and not one had caught the true cause of my problem (water coming into the basement) Well that sealed the deal for me, (punny) and I had him come out and do the sealing that needed to be done and since I had two drains on that side just sealed that downspout up and stopped using it. Clear, professional and concise; and saved me from worse damage and costlier repair.
Description of Work: Sealed the gap between my foundation and walkways around house.

It turned out to be more costly as they said that I needed more work on the basement walls which included digging, and installing and new sump pump. They got the job done in about 2 weeks. The workers were okay and the cleanup was so-so.

Roberts Foundation came to find a crack in our foundation and perform a general test of the basement to see if there might be more problems. He found the crack that caused our leak and found no other trouble spots. He made several more suggestions to help prevent water pooling near the foundation. he even gave us the name of a mason to fix a crack in our outside brick, who was wonderful as well. He gave us the name of a lawn expert, too (that we have not had a chance to use yet.) After we had removed the dry wall in the area, he came back again to confirm he had identified the entire crack. He did and we made an appointment for the next week. Two very professional and personable workers came and quickly fixed the problem. It was much less expensive than I thought it would be. I would use this service again.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. It did not work out well. They way oversold me and the salesman wanted to do all kinds of things that were way beyond what I wanted and certainly what I needed. So I never did anything with them, did not use their service or pay anything. I signed a contract for a thousand dollars worth of stuff and I don't want to do it. I have not done anything and they have called me several times. I have told them I will get back to them, but have not called them back and it has been quite a while now. I would not recommend the salesman. It is a salesman problem, not the company in total. The salesman took advantage of me, I believe. I thought the pricing was outrageous and he sold me something I did not need. They responded right away.

The day was quite challenging. Mr. Michael Roberts and crew came to my home to work a half hour late; the appointment time was for 8:00 a.m. they showed up at 8:30 a.m. For me that was unacceptable. I was told that that the job would take only 4 hours. It took the crew over 8 hours. Michael Roberts, the owner, left his crew at my home unsupervised to perform the waterproofing job. When the crew completed the job, they poured unused concrete in my backyard grass ,totally disrespecting my home. Six months later, I had water seeping through the base of wall where the drilling was performed by Robert's crew. I called Michael Roberts, the owner, to report it and he came out to repair it. He spoke very poorly of his crew that performed the work at my home and Mike Roberts stated they no longer work for him. For the next year and a half, I had to call Mike Roberts back to my home for water seeping from the drilled area. Not only did I have water seeping through, mud, yes mud, seep through as well. Each time I would call Mike Roberts back to my home. Each time he would drill the area, clean the tile, pour fresh rock, and replace fresh concrete. After that the worker with him poured the unused concrete down my driveway which ran to the street, staining my driveway and the street. Again, disrespectful of my resident. During one of Mike Roberts visits, he claimed that my basement have no footing, that's why the mud is coming into the basement. I said to Mike Roberts, I didn't have mud come into my home before his workers botched up my basement. Mr. Roberts suggested that I should call my insurance company to see if they will pay to have a footing put on. I did and my insurance company sent an assessor to asset the damage. The assessor could not believe how unprofessional the waterproofing job was performed and asked many times, why would they break the footing? Well, I could not answer his question, but I was quite upset. I contacted and paid an independent engineer to look at the waterproofing job and to check to see if my home was possibly built without a footing. He too was quite shock at the horrible job Roberts Foundation and Crack Repair did. The engineer stated it was possible but his finding was inconclusive of rather a footing was built on my house. After year and a half of dealing with Roberts Foundation and Repair owner Mike Roberts, and since the finding from the engineer was inconclusive, Mike Roberts and I settled with him paying me $800 of the $1500 I paid to his company, siting no footing.

Overall: The company did ok. The nature of the repair turned out to be different from what I was expecting, but I won't informed of the difference. I hope the quality is adequate and the fix will last. Punctuality: Brad came right on time for the initial estimate. When we decided to change the extent of the repairs, Brad made good accommodations to come to the house and revise the contract. On the actual date of the repair, Mike arrived generally on time as well. Responsiveness: The company is very responsive in returning my calls, or messages. Price: The estimate is in line with estimates we got from other companies. Quality: The fix we were looking for, as well written in the contract, is "epoxy injection". We did similar repairs in 1999 by a different company, so I have general idea of what it is -- essentially filling the crack with epoxy to create a permanent bond. After Roberts completed the repair, I found out over the weekend that the repair actually was primarily polyurethane. The surface was covered with quick epoxy which also attaches the ports to the crack, but inside the crack was actually polyurethane. I was very disappointed for several reasons. First, I conducted extensive research, consulted with a Structural Engineer, and decided on "epoxy injection". Secondly, the estimate said "epoxy injection", and I was expecting nothing less than the work nature and quality as we did in 1999. I called Roberts the next day to complain about the work. Roberts argued that what they did is "exactly what epoxy injection means, because they used epoxy on the surface". It was beyond my belief in the playing of words. To be fair to Roberts, I later did more research, and found out that many companies in the St. Louis area are doing "epoxy injection" same way as Roberts. So it is a problem not specific to Roberts. Professionalism: All the people I worked with were curteous and polite. Where the company fell short is the empathy with the customer. When they came in and did the repair, they would see the repairs we did in 1999, and should know what they were doing would be different, and therfore the customer would be disappointed. At that point, I would appreciate they had a clear discussion with me so I could decide whether to accept this "different way" of epoxy-injection. I missed the opportunity to make an "informed decision". After figuring out what all happened, I requested the warranty to be extended beyond the stated 7 years, since the fix with polyurethane wouldn't have the same strength as if it were filled with epoxy. The request was declined.

Roberts Foundation and Crack Repair did a good job. The only problem was after buying the Big Deal Purchase, we were locked in to one contractor. Although the work needed to be done, we ended up spending more than we anticipated to waterproof our basement. The work was done well, but not sure that I would buy the Big Deal Purchase again. Instead, would get three estimates.

The company sent out a salesman to try and sell an interior drain tile and sump pump. I told him I wanted ideas and a plan for keeping my basement waterproof. The company representative failed to do a proper investigation to try and find out a solution. In this case I had water coming into the basement from my chimney but he didn't even shine his flashlight up the chimney to see the problem. Instead he recommending drain tile across the ENTIRE perimeter of my basement even though I told him 2/3 of it had never seen water.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was atrocious. It was awful. They said they would do a full inspection and give me a report. They said they would give do it yourself ideas to solve the water problems. The first thing he did when he came out was to break my sump pump. He did come back and fix it after I called him back and said I really didn't want an estimate to fix it. I said he needed to fix it since he broke it. I've had a number of different people give me free estimates that I didn't have to pay $50 for. What he told that needed to be repaired made absolutely no sense to me. I didn't like the tone or the thoroughness or anything about it so I decided not to use them. I did some of my own work and it has been dry ever since. It had nothing to do with what he told me. The deal was for $50 for $300 of waterproofing. I had him give me an estimate to draw some of the other water away from the house because I didn't want to pay $50 for an estimate that everybody else would give me for free. He said that it was only good for that one type of service and that happened to be the service he told me that I needed. I just lost $50. He finally showed it to me in the fine print. It wasn't $300 off of waterproofing. It was $300 off of that specific service and that is what it should have said. It was only for an interior tile drainage system.
