Went extremely well. We were told it would take 2 weeks & because of rain, still only took 2 1/2 weeks. We had previously replaced this ceiling twice before, but mold came back! We feel it is gone for good now & we have 10 yr. guarantee.

The person who came to give estimate in the house for adding garage he said $55000.00, for adding Master suite with bathroom and walking closet $100,000.00 and to add a atrium with stairs was $125,000.00. The price was insane. I would rather rebuild then to use them. I would never use them. They have B rating. I would never go for them.

Thank you for agreeing to discuss your consultation visit with us. After speaking with you, we understand how you felt frustrated by the pricing you received. Your mention of calling us based on reading reviews from past clients of ours reporting they had remodeling work done at a much lower price certainly helps us understand your feelings. It can be difficult to know just how much or little was involved in a project based on the review posted. The rough estimates you were given came from Remodeling Magazine’s Cost vs Value report. Based on the different projects you would like to have done, and the description of the desired result, these are the numbers we came up with. We apologize if you felt mislead in any way. We wish you the best in your future plans for your home remodel.

Great! Rich Layton came out after us seeing him at the home show and we called for an appt. He listened to what we wanted to accomplish. Since this was a major remodel of our home and included many areas he worked with us to get the final bid accepted within our time frame. After several changes work started and all of the workers were wonderful. Project took 6 weeks which is what they said. Project managers are hands on. Every one arrived on time and left the same time daily, so you knew what to expect. They cleaned up every night after themselves as much as possible. John Ono was our project manager and kept all on target, Luciano is a wonderful talented painter and Oleg was the paint project manager that helped me pick out paint colors- that everyone loves when they come over. Mark did excellent carpentry and was here probably every day. There were hiccups along the way which were quickly dealt with. Not the least expensive out there, but definetly quality workmanship and professionalism! If I knew how to get the pictures off my phone I would include them here- but I am challanged!
Description of Work: removed wall in between kitchen and family room, removed paneling in family room and replaced with dry wall. Removed wall paper in entry, dining room and LR. Sanded walls to remove texture. Removed paneling in kitchen and drywalled Updated floor board in area along with matching ceiling molding in kitchen and family room to the existing ones in LR &DR. Painted Kitchen,LR< DR<FR and hallway. Installed 6 panal doors throughout house. Painted ceiling and installed new light fixtures. Installed TV on Wall and upgraded electical outlets in area of work. Coordinated with floor company we had hired.

The rep came for the first visit and discussed the project. We detailed 4 rooms, hobby/mud room with deep sink, family room with fireplace and wet bar, bed room and bath. He took detailed notes and several photos. His preliminary estimate was exorbitant. We requested he send examples of design docs that would be provided and suggestions to cut costs. He never sent them. We said we would call following our vacation. When we did call, a second appt was scheduled. That appt was canceled at the last minute, reset for a week later. The rep was more than 1.5 hours late. He presented a quote that included unneeded work and didn't include required utilities and details discussed. The price was 10K more than his original estimate despite being way over our budget and did not suggest economies. The work description was scant, hardly suitable as a scope of work for the contract attached. It was clear he was unprepared and didn't want our business.

Thank you for taking the time to discuss your concerns with us after posting your review. We fell significantly short in providing you with all of the detailed information you were looking for, and for that we are genuinely sorry. It is our practice to provide our clients with options that guide them to the desired outcome they come to us seeking. Sometimes those options become more clear as the design process takes place. As discussed, we would love to work with you again at some point and would do our best to meet your expectations. Thank you again for your review. We certainly learn from feedback like yours.

Initial projects were good. Window replacement and such were explained and completed. Left the house clean. After initial projects, despite the pricing, I hired again because of good service. The last two services less positive. After getting an estimate on repairing basement damage, then painting and carpeting an area, I decided just on the repair--and had the original person who finished the basement come in and make a bid for painting, carpeting and adding cabinetry for entire basement. This bid for the entire basement was only about $1000.00 more than what Mosby wanted for a small segment of the basement. After I decided that Mosby would only complete part of the work--the service dropped precipitously. They did not call to schedule the steps in the project; to get anything accomplished, I had to call. Additionally, the charge for the repair work ended up being much more than anticipated based on the original bid for all of the work. I had similar problems last summer concerning tiling in bathroom--I felt as if they were attempting to sell me rather expensive work that was not needed. The communication and service has been poor. The workers generally do a great job and generally leave the house clean--but for the price--the service should be better.
Description of Work: I have used this company several times. Initial projects included window replacement, demolition and repair of cracks in basement walls, painting entire interior of house, adding shower tile to bathroom.

Very positive experience. Started with Mr. Mosby spending 3 hours with us on two visits (6 hrs total) to understand requirements and to design changes to the bathroom and kitchen for handicap access. Brought expert design capability to solve access problems. Remodel design included roll-in shower replacing fiberglass shower with 6" step; sink and vanity allowing roll under; kitchen cabinets with roll-under stove top and wall oven at convenient height. Even thought of 9" kick space on cabinets allowing wheel chair to get closer to cabinet tops. Project manager, John Yocco, visited with cabinet contractor to ensure measurements were correct and cabinet color and counter top color matched current kitchen cabinets. Waited about a month for the cabinets, vanity, and shower components to be manufactured. Installation crew was exceptional. Mark Dees was crew chief. They solved a variety of plumbing and electrical issues to complete an excellent installation. Shower was completed with "Onyx" walls and floor. One-piece sink and vanity top was also Onyx. This is an outstanding product in terms of appearance and performance. They ensured the bathroom cabinet installation was exactly level and sound. Vanity top was mounted flush to walls and expertly caulked. Mark worked extensively with handicapped person to ensure grab bars, shower control, and shower head were all in the correct place to ease access and ensure safety. Super service in this area. Kitchen base cabinet and appliance installation was also outstanding. Team moved electrical outlets (220 and 110) to accommodate the cooktop and wall oven. They installed custom made cabinet for wall oven and base cabinets. Again absolutely level and soundly attached to walls. Wall oven installation was quite challenging because cabinet maker had not fully complied with previously provided specifications. Installation team modified the cabinet on-site so the cabinet didn't have to be rebuilt, which would have incurred weeks of delay. Cabinet top contractor measured the newly installed base cabinets and cook top. After three weeks delay, the new cabinet top arrived. (To allow us to use the kitchen while waiting for the cabinet top, the Mosby team installed a temporary plywood cabinet top to hold the cooktop.) The Mosby installation team again expertly installed the cabinet top and cook top with precision. In addition to remodeling the bath and kitchen, Mosby repaired a twisted stud in the corner of the bathroom. The sheetrock in this corner had warped and moved causing and unsightly wrinkle in the corner finish. The team removed about half a sheet of sheet rock over the tub and found the problem with the stud, which they corrected. They inserted a new piece of sheetrock and taped and mudded the repair. Finally they had a Mosby painter come in and apply the correct wall finish to match the rest of the bathroom. After I painted the wall you cannot tell where the repair was made and the corner appears square and straight as it should. Mosby team took special care to make sure the floors and furnishings were not damaged. Each day they put drop cloths down from the doors to the work areas. They covered furnishings with plastic drops to make sure dust didn't cover them. At the end of each day's work, the team cleaned up all dirt, dust, scraps and tools in the work area. They removed drops and then even vacuumed the rugs and floors. Anytime they worked on hardwood floors they put down large sheets of cardboard to protect the wood. They took out the existing vanity, top, and shower and disposed of them. They removed all scraps, packaging, and trash. Every Mosby employee we met was professional, knowledgeable, and personable. They went out of their way to be pleasant, even befriending our dog. They never hesitated to ask questions about how we would like things done and ensured we concurred with all installation decisions, such as the height of the shower curtain bar and exact placement of cook top. Mosby's quality management process included regular contact with a customer service quality representative. She also was professional and encouraged input from the customer on Mosby's work. We have worked with other building and remodeling contractors in the past and had much less positive experiences. Mosby provided top quality products and work with minimum hassle to the customer. They showed up for work when they said they would, completed the job professionally. The project was on time, on quality, and on budget.

very thorough and professional. upfront fee charged for bid which would apply towards repair. They were the only contractor that charged for this. i have no doubt that repair would have done right, but cost was triple or more of other bids. Would have liked to used Mosby for job but was out of my price range. Had a bid to replace the entire deck with new for about 1/3 the cost of what I was bid to REPAIR the deck.

Thank you for your feedback. We enjoyed working with you on the Design Agreement and how enthusiastic and encouraging you were about the creative process. We understand your budget concerns, which is why we presented different design options, and went back to the drawing board to alter the design to better fit your budget. It seems there was inadequate communication on our part about how the project costs change as the designs you liked were developed, and for this we apologize. We had water leaking in the basement from the windows in the back of our house. They felt to correct this, we should replace the windows and siding. When we priced these options with other companies, and looking on Angie's List, we realized how overpriced they were. Thank you for your feedback on the proposal we provided for correcting your water leak problem. Your feedback helps us improve our client communication practices. We provide an extended warranty for our work due to the performance of additional work we do before installing the windows and siding. Providing a long term correction to water intrusion is generally more than the windows and siding. This is exactly what differentiates Mosby from others. We take extra steps to deliver a thorough, long term correction to water problems. A real correction is achieved by additional measures to properly flash, correctly install a weather resistant barrier, appropriately construct the siding system, and install trims and stylish details that effectively channel water away from the structure, rather than putting up new windows and siding which can temporarily relieve the symptoms. We at Mosby stand behind our comprehensive work and our ability to correct water problems. Please accept our sincere apology that our proposal did not meet your expectations.

We decided to go with LP Smartside since their warranty is nice and many of our neighbors have used them. Our bid was INSANE! The house is 1750 square feet, but it is tall. We were quoted $75,000 for the house and our garage which barely fits two cars. There was no breakdown for the pricing. Our house roughly cost double the amount quoted. When I replied to his bid via email, I asked for a breakdown of the job. Here's what they replied with:||For the fiber cement job here is a rough break down||Siding|Materials. $15,000|Labor. $34,000|Gutter|Material. $500.00|Labor. $800.00|Painting|Material. $600.00|Labor. $9000.00|Misc|Dumpster. $400.00|Porta Potty. $400.00|Scaffolding. $500.00||Profit and overhead. $15000.00||He said the Smartside would be the same cost as the fiber cement. $34,000 for label and $15,000 for profit. A neighbor with the same model as ours bought all materials and used fiber cement and spent about $5,000. These guys are a joke. I would never recommend Mosby for any job.

Thank you for sharing your experience with our proposal for your siding project. Your feedback is important to us and guides our continual improvement. We researched the job history and your review and noticed you chose a different siding material than we proposed, which can affect the substrate preparation, flashing, installation, warranty, finishing and trim details. Ultimately this affects the price and longevity of the project. The work scope we provided was thorough, covered all details of the job from start to finish, including demolition & proper disposal, accessories, trims and wraps. We stand behind our work with an extended warranty, prompt customer service, attention to detail, fine craftsmanship and deliver lasting value learned from our 65+ years of experience. The project was lengthy because we were not at the house full time and had to coordinate installation during our visits. The first problem was when we scheduled installation for a week when we would be in town but Mosby could not start the work until Friday, our last available day. That day ended with only one window removed and even that window was not finished, just shimmed and secured. After that, we tried to coordinate installation during visits, and each time a little more progress occurred. When we thought we were close to having the project complete, we discovered that incorrect window styles were ordered for the two largest window openings. One of those was installed before we realized it was incorrect, so it had to be removed later and the correct window installed. The reorder took several weeks, causing further delay. During these months, we had plaster damage around the windows that had been installed, and had to wait until the project was close to completion before Mosby sent someone to make those repairs. One window is a little out of alignment, or not square, and Mosby has explained that is due to the age of the house and settling, and even if they removed it and reinstalled it, they could not guarantee improvement, so we have accepted that. The project was tedious, frustrating and stretched over too much time, and issues took too long to get resolved. After the first couple of installation occurrences , I think we lost confidence in the abilities of the workmen. We had different workers on the site each time until the last couple of weeks. We feel that communication was lacking and we did not feel informed about plans for the work or their time schedule. We decided on Mosby for this project due to its reputation, even though their quote was the highest. We expected more - more professionalism, better communication, and certainly more efficiency in completing the work. We would not recommend it for window replacement.

I heard radio commercials for Right Bath by Mosby. It's a specific product for a bathroom update - not a full remodel - and the commercial says this simple update starts at $6,000. Based on that I went to the Mosby site and read about Right Bath since it sounded just like what we were looking for. The site lists everything included - tub/shower, toilet, vanity, counter, fixtures, tile floors - everything we needed. Supposedly all that is what a Right Bath update means for a 5x8 bathroom, which is just what we have. Ours is just a shower too (no tub), so that should be simpler. Even though the site doesn't list prices, I figured if the lowest is $6,000 for all that, even if we upgraded some things it couldn't possibly be over $10,000. David came out from Right Bath. I explained I'd heard the commercials for Right Bath and that's just what we were looking for. No expanding the bathroom, no walls removed, nothing fancy. He stood in our bathroom for some time while we explained what we were looking for. He said that with a Right Bath product choices are limited. There are three toilets, just two vanity styles, a couple faucets, etc. Considering the product we weren't worried about that. He said we were probably looking at the low-to-mid-teens, which was a little alarming, and we said that. When I mentioned the commercial and the $6,000 cost there he said that was just for something like a new tub. That's not what the website says, so that was disturbing, but we were still willing to get a bid and consider it. He showed us some of the options and said he'd get us a bid in a day or two. When I got the bid it was a lump sum of $21,045. He listed all the things they would do - a complete tear-out down to studs for the whole bathroom. We were completely stunned that this 'bid' was almost 4 times their advertised starting price. It can't really be called a bid, because bids should technically reflect what someone asks for. You'd think things would be itemized (we asked for that) so we could perhaps choose what we might, or might not, want done. Interestingly he specified leaving our mirror, which is the one thing my husband said he didn't want. While in our bathroom David pointed out the mirror and said we should keep that because it was really expensive, and we said we didn't like it. Obviously he bid what he wanted to do, not what we asked for. On the Mosby site an update is what Right Bath is called. It's supposed to be simple and minimal. A midrange remodel - which is much more involved - is noted on their site to be about $17,000 for the St. Louis market. I have no idea, based on the number we received, what he considered for our bathroom, but it certainly wasn't an update. Overall, I think the Right Bath commercials are completely misleading. We felt like we called to ask for a simple update - their advertised product - and were given a price for an upscale remodel, but keeping the extremely limited choices he mentioned for the vanity, fixtures, floors, etc. If I were going to pay that much money I would want more than two vanity choices or one shower wall choice, among other things. The proposal is ludicrous. I feel like the entire process was bait-and-switch, and dishonest.
Description of Work: Bid on a complete bathroom remodel, down to studs, which is not what we asked for.

Dear [member name removed], Thank you for reaching out to us. We are extremely sorry you were disappointed with our service and pricing. While we do have packages for Right Bath starting at $6000, it is not a complete remodel for $6000. We used this language when we launched our campaign, and quickly changed once we realized the confusion it caused for our valued clients. Right Bath, and Mosby Building Arts are committed to quality and integrity, and because of this, your feedback is extremely important to us. Thank you again for reaching out to us. Respectfully, The Right Bath Team

Mosby's team is excellent in many ways ,do they have an occasional issue .of course. But there quality of workman ship in residential construction is unmatched in the ST Louis area. they are an organization that does not quit until their customer is completely satisfied . Finally i would say that they have a broad expertise in multiple areas and if you are looking for an organization to trust your home with for nearly any type of work this is who should try first.

It was fine but they were very expensive in pricing. They don’t even come out for free estimates but if you used them they would reduce the cost for the estimate towards the project but you don’t know what they are until they come out and it was not a path we wanted to take for them. The only reason we called them was because they advertised on the radio and we thought that the radio personality that advertised them gave them a good reference but they were really expensive. So I suppose they must do really good work if they are really expensive.
Description of Work: We got some rough quotes from Mosby Building Arts Ltd for new wood floors and for redoing the bathroom.

The entire project went well, and the final cost was a bit less than the estimate. That said, the estimate was higher than we anticipated, but in the end one gets what one pays for. As in any large project, unanticipated problems arose. These were solved to our satisfaction is every case. The work was all performed by specialists in each field, painters, plumbers, electricians and so on. The Mosby project manager was very capable, and acted as a sort of general contractor - coordinating all the various activities. The Mosby company was very good about fixing small glitches that we found after the project was over. The project began on schedule and was finished on schedule. All in all a very professional job.
Description of Work: Extensive remodeling of our master bath, refinished master bedroom floor, enlarged entryways, and other miscellaneous associated tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and painting..
