MOLD SOLUTIONS

Mold Solutions was great -- from the first bid, to the appointment timing, to turning on a dime when we had an unexpected delay (after hours, the night before they were scheduled to start work), to performing the work itself, to salvaging what molding could be salvaged, to followup after the work was completed. Can’t imagine better -- except, maybe, the availability of turnkey cleaning and repair.

Jeff came and looked at it. He told me that it was only minor growth and that I can do the clean up myself (water and detergent). He also recommended that we buy two dehumidifiers for the basement (strange layout of the basement). Jeff took a lot of time looking at stuff with me, although it was clear to him from the beginning that he will not make any money on this call. I am very pleased with all, punctuality, courtesy, and especially his knowledge.

It went extremely well. The mold is gone and they did minimal damage to the cold air duct and wall in remediating the mold. Much less than I had feared and expected. I did not judge with a letter grade the cost because I know that mold remediation can be very expensive. I can say, however, that the cost was reasonable based on what knowledge I have. The cost was $1,200.

They cut out a portion of the wooden duct leading to the furnace/AC that went through a closet to the F/AC. Having done that they eliminated the mold along the entire length of the duct. I particularly liked that were able to minimize the amount of duct cleaned out in doing the job. Note- I sent a review to Angies List years ago when this happened, but somehow it did not register and they keep asking for the review. Here it is. The original was also "A" with more detail. Too bad it did not take.

It went well living up to the many excellent reviews by previous Angies List reviewers. They remediated the mold by cutting away affected drywall, applying mold killing material to the surrounding walls in the cold air duct. They set up a containment area in the closet adjacent to the cold air duct and used HEPA vacuums to cleanse the containment area and air of mold. Their estimator found moisture in the floor in front of our toilet when he came to do the estimate. A plumber who who found the leak and fixed it without entering the mold affected area found a badly rusted flange under the toilet with rot. When the workman from Mold Solutions came to alleviate the mold problem they cleaned up the area around the sewer pipe and flange and applied anti-mold material. That awaits a plumber to fix the toilet connection. Mold Solutions did the minimum amount of disruption to the cold air vent in eradicating the mold. As a result repairing that duct (which also serves as a resting place for things in the closet), will be much easier and less costly than I had feared. In cleaning up the sewer pipe and flange in the bathroom floor (a bonus not in the estimate) I could see that the repair would be less costly than it originally repaired. Mold Solutions job was done in three hours in the early afternoon of a Tuesday, followed by the HEPA fans operating until the next morning. Mold Solutions did a great job of finishing and cleaning up in one hour on Thursday Morning. I highly recommend them.

It went very well! The guy who answered the phone was the same guy who came out. He even came a little early as he had an opening in his schedule. Most of the time you are waiting on people to come out. Once he was here he analyzed the situation. After seeing that it was not a mold problem that I had but a minor mildew problem. He offered solutions that I could do myself to save me money. You could tell that he was not interested in just making a quick buck off of me, or ripping me off. I would say he showed the utmost integrity. After checking out the basement, he walked around the outside of the house and assessed some issues that were causing some water damage in the basement. He recommended a friends company that specifically handles those type of issues. In the end he walked away without a dime from me, but gained a customer or recommendation for years to come.

Excellently. They did the job well at reasonable cost. (I started this review 2 years ago. I thought I had submitted it. Seems I did not. I do not remember details but I thought they did an excellent job.

I knew there was mold present. It was easy spotted during the home inspection. When the guy came to look at it, he couldn't find it. So I literally told him to just look up and he saw and was like" Oh, ok!" But their quote was 1200 -2000$ the others quoted me at 950$.

I am a DYI'er that starting a renovation on our guest bathroom, and came across what I was sure was a terrible mold situation. A toilet in the house we recently purchased appeared to have been leaking for years, leaving behind moldy tiles and drywall. I called Mold Solutions to get an evaluation on this situation as well as a few other concerning areas around the house. I called on a Friday afternoon and they were able to schedule (at my request) an appointment early Monday morning, giving me enough time to get the old tub out of the bathroom so the inspection could include the tub's plumbing. Jeff was out at my house right on time and ready to look into the situation. I showed him the bathroom in question, and he quickly got to work evaluating our issue. After evaluating the bathroom he clearly explained the situation to me. As it turns out, what I thought was a terrible mold situation was actually a very minor situation. I had previously cleaned up most of the mold during demolition of the bathroom and Jeff told me a few other location that would need to be cleaned up and explained the best practices for removal and cleaning the effected area. He then inspected the other locations in my house that I was concerned about. After looking at everything and clearly explaining what we found. He gave me he honest opinion, that our situation was actually minor (beach ball sized area) and that we could handle the removal and cleaning, instead of having to pay to have it removed. The only area that he was concerned about was the area that I had previously cleaned up before removing the tub. In the other areas he made sure that the source of the moisture was known, fixed, and that no mold was growing. After gathering some more information from Jeff, he made sure that that I didn't have any other questions or concerns. When I offered to pay for the inspection (I was told when booking the appointment that the inspection is $50.00) he politely turned it down since our situation was mostly taken care of before he arrived (when I cleaned the original mold area). If you are looking for a true and honest opinion on your mold situation, then call Mold Solutions. They could have easily convinced me that I needed to have an expensive remediation done, but instead they were honest about the situation and I came away with more knowledge and no dent to my pocket. Jeff was the one doing the inspection. He was very informative and very honest. No treatment was needed. As a senior citizen, I appreciate a site like Angie's List where I can find honest businesses like Mold Solutions. I will certainly recommend Mold Solutions to all the members at my senior group.

It was an informative visit. The issue was a small matter which did not warrant professional remediation.

Jeff arrived promptly and was very professional and courteous. He advised that the problem was not dangerous and that we could safely do the cleanup and remediation ourselves. I appreciate his honesty and will definitely call them in the future if we have any other mold issues.

Rich was very thorough and honest. He came out and did a free Angie's list eval of our basement because it had a musty smell. He really didn't think we had any mold and recommended against the costly air tests that I was totally ready to do. He had some great and smart advice about our dehumidifier and running a fan with it to save energy costs. Also, pointed to a couple other causes. He thought either the exercise room flooring or the carpet prob had pet stains/smells from previous owners stuck in the pad. We got a UV light and all of his ideas turned out to be correct. Got new carpet and our basement smells great. So thankful he didn't lead us down the path of tearing out walls to look for mold.

Mold Solutions came in and installed plastic sheathing in the area of the mold. They removed the mold from my basement wall using a HEPA vacuum system and removed the stains form the concrete wall. Rich gave me some excellent ideas on how to keep the mold from coming back. Alan was also very helpful with his recommendations. Great guys and very professional!

Jeff thoroughly looked over the walls of our basement and discussed different options for removing the mold and preventing future growth. He seemed very knowledgeable and honest in his assessment. While we are going to try to tackle this project ourselves (we thought it was a bigger issue than it turned out to be having previously had black mold), I would not hesitate to have Jeff and his team provide their service if we end up needing it or for larger future projects.

The inspector reported that the spots did not appear to be active mold and perhaps were burns from pipe repairs. He discussed what he would do if it were his home and showed me how to paint over the spots if I was still concerned. Very honest work in my opinion, as he could have tried to sell me a line on the dangers of this possibly being mold and quoted me a repair price. But instead he went the honest route and earned my praise here.

Rich arrived right on time. He was appropriately dressed for the job and clean. His enthusiasm struck me first and before long we were chatting like old friends. Turns out this boyish looking man has a wife and three kids! Yet he still did the honorable thing for this old lady. He told me we could make this into a really big deal because people are afraid. Suddenly his language started to ring true in my ears. Just like radioactive contamination and I spent 20 years refueling power reactors... Then he said what we say, "The solution to the pollution is dilution.).... I asked what he would do in his own home? He said to bag it, tape it securely, and dispose of it properly. He told me he could come in and do that for me but really it would be a waste of my money. I believe this young man (I'm 62 he's 36, so to me always a young man) when he speaks his opinion. He backed it up by showing me places we would be seeing mold growth if I had a systemic problem. Nothing. Just one moldy sheetrock section leaning up against the wall has it. I would definitely hire this man again. If he's willing to give up $$ for moral reasons, then he will be truthful with me in the future.

During the buyer's inspection when selling our house, mold was identified in part of our attic space. Since we were not previously aware of any issues in the attic, we were not prepared for this news. The sale of our home was contingent on us remediating the mold and obtaining a clearance letter. This was terrible news because we moved the closing on our new house up since we had the offer on our current house. Both deals were pending on us getting the mold tested, remediated and obtaining a clearance letter. After finding an environmental hygienist to come out and test for mold, we needed to find a company to actually perform the work and we were under a very tight deadline to save both real estate deals. I called five other companies in the area and only one could come out to give us an estimate and perform the work before our deadline. Not having ever had this type of work done, I wanted at least two companies to give us bids. I called another company on Angie's list and was told that because of all the recent rain in the area, they too could not complete the job in time. I asked him if he could recommend another company and he told me to try Mold Solutions. I called and Jeff James answered the phone right away. I explained my situation and time frame and he said that they were also very busy but that he would see if he could fit us in. He came out the next morning to look at the attic. He was very nice, honest and professional. I received the estimate the same day. He said that they decided to work over the weekend so that they could help us out since we needed the work done right away to close on our house and buy the new one. That was AMAZING! I decided to hire them before I even received the bid from the other company because they were willing to work over the weekend. At the time, I had no idea if the price was reasonable and was honestly expecting to pay more for the weekend hours because of our closing timeframe (which I was completely fine with). I received the other company's estimate the following day and Mold Solutions was actually cheaper to remediate our entire attic space (not just the portion affected) with a 10 year warranty! Jeff James even spoke to the buyer's agent regarding their concerns over the attic ventilation. His knowledge about mold growth and the 10 year warranty offer really gave the buyers piece of mind and saved our deal. Jeff even offered to place the buyers' names on the warranty so that we could give this to them before the loan closing. I have NO DOUBT that without Mold Solutions, we would NOT have been able to close on the sale of our home and proceed with the purchase of the new house. I would HIGHLY recommend Mold Solutions to anyone needing Mold remediation. Our environmental hygienist was really impressed with the quality of the work they performed when he came back to retest the air quality. He also thought their pricing was extremely reasonable. I have already recommended them to two people. A+++
