I really liked their presentation to me about what they were going to do. They gave me color choices and the mortar they were going to use, very detailed bed which I liked a lot. So I knew exactly what to expect. Their price actually wasn’t the cheapest but I really wanted quality work done. The particular item was seen outside by everybody. They quality of work that I got was the best.

My masonry chimney had bricks that were crumbling, mortar was falling out, and there was a big crack down the side from the top to about 4 ft. down. Due to scheduling conflicts, I had to provide photos of the chimney and problem areas. They promptly reviewed the photos and provided an estimate. From all the bids, I chose Massey based on Angie's list reviews and the promptness of the review and estimate. Michell from Massey Tuckpointing informed me there were about 10 jobs in front of mine and she would contact me in about a month with a start date. She did just that. So far so good. When the crew arrived as scheduled, they were very kind and informative as to what the problem was. They did an excellent job with the repair. And yes they cleaned up after themselves. Since my house is about 30 years old, I knew the bricks would not match because they are not made anymore. The Massey crew did an excellent job at getting new bricks that matched as close as possible. I also needed a new chimney cap. Once again Michell to the rescue. She recommended a full cover chimney cap and promptly sent the documentation from the company they use to build it. She said I could contact the company directly or Massey could arrange it all. I opted to let them arrange the build and installation of the cap. She said it would take about a week. Sure enough, about a week later, the chimney cap was delivered and installed. I recommend getting the cap as it seems to pull every thing together. Looks great. I would definitely recommend Masssey and use them for any future work. I have no issues with the way any part of the project was handled. From start to finish, everything was excellent.

Job went extremely well. No complaints in this regard.
Description of Work: I obtained several bids for waterblast anad tuckpointing for my front porch. House is a 1930 bungalow style. I bought it on a "as is" basis. It does not appear that much maintenance nor painting was done to it. Massey came in on Tuesday and water blasted it. They came back today to complete the tuckpointing. They did an excellent job, especially considering what they had to work with. Crew also cleaned up. I would have no hesitations in recommending them in the future. If I need this type of service again, I will be calling them first.

It went PERFECT overall. This was the third job/experience I have had with Massey Tuckpointing. Each time has been perfect. I live in a two-story home, and have only live in this home for about 10 years, but the home is about 40 years old. There has been a lot of work that has needed. This time I needed the brick on my chimney inspected because I could see some of the areas needed work. Ryan Massey came and inspected the chimney, and the entire side of that house. I received and estimate (which I thought was very, very reasonable) via email with pictures of the area that needed work and a description of what it would look like when the work was completed. We scheduled the work for a date/time that was convenient for me. The staff was on time, and explained everything they would be doing that day, and that they would come back the next morning and complete the work. Everything was cleaned up prior to them leaving - and the job was perfect.
Description of Work: Repair the brick work on my chimney and are surrounding the chimney side of my 2-story house. Work was perfect, employees who did the job were on time, informative, courteous. Everything was cleaned up before they left.

The work went well. Michelle, the owner? of the company was excellent in communicating what work they would do. The bid was detailed and included photos, which I appreciated. I felt comfortable in large part due to the good communication with both Michelle and those who did the work.

Massey was the best bid, but not the lowest bid. I did check with a number of other service providers and some did offer to do the work for less, but also offered less. Some offered to repair the existing chimney cap, while others offered to replace the cap. Massey was slightly higher than some offering to replace the cap, however Massey also came back a second day to seal the cap so that I could avoid having problems in the future. Since I was planning on having my roof replaced, I needed them to do the work quickly. As promised, they worked me in without any problem. The salesperson and the guys doing the work were all great. My wife and I have some ornamental flowers, a flower trellis, and some outdoor lighting directly beneath the chimney. Not one thing was damaged in any way. You could hardly tell they were even there. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Our 100-year-old home was in need of some tender loving care. Previous owners had deferred maintenance on the home’s exterior brick walls and the brick interior of the original carriage house garage. We contacted Massey and two other companies to get estimates on tuckpointing two exterior walls, repairing a disintegrating brick transom over our carriage house man door, and tuckpointing the carriage house interior. The carriage house flat roof also required replacement, so we needed to coordinate the repair of the transom before the roof could be replaced. Massey took advantage of the arrival of an early spring and began work on our exterior walls while simultaneously repairing the carriage house transom. Massey’s tuckpointing crew, led by Travis, took great care to ensure the considerable mess was kept in check as they ground out the old mortar and tuckpointed the walls. While Travis and crew were on site, the roofers arrived to begin the reconstruction of the carriage house roof. During the removal of the old roof, several exterior bricks were knocked loose and had to be reaffixed before the roofers could install the new roofing material. Travis quickly assessed the situation, called Ryan and Michelle Massey, who in turn contacted us. My wife and I approved the work, and Travis fixed the damaged carriage house within hours, which allowed the roofers to complete the job in short order. After our house walls were tuckpointed and cleaned, Travis and crew tuckpointed the carriage house interior walls over a two-day period. The old garage now looks like a new building. Massey Tuckpointing did an excellent job. Ryan and Michelle were great at keeping us informed throughout the process, and Travis demonstrated his expertise in both tuckpointing and the running of a competent crew. We would recommend Massey to our friends and co-workers because we appreciate the quality of their workmanship and the value of their bids.

Tuckpointing Project - I had gotten four different estimates for this work, and the estimates were all over the place in terms of pricing and scope. I went with Massey, because Ryan was the most thorough at explaining what was needed and providing different options and recommendations for repair. I really felt like he was looking out for me, and so we went with Massey. They showed up and completed the work on schedule and without problems. When we sold that house a month or so later, the backside of the chimney was noted to need tuckpointing at inspection. The crew that worked on the project just missed a spot, basically. I called Massey, and they were amazing to work with. They apologized profusely, had someone out that day, and provided paperwork that I could provide to my real estate agent to show the problem had been solved. It was that responsiveness that really won me over. What could have been a negative turned out to be a positive service experience I haven't forgotten! Which is why they were the first call we made for the window project... Window Project - We replaced the windows in our 75-year old brick cape cod, and noticed in doing the final review that we had an old window that was covered from the inside during a renovation of the kitchen many years ago. We wanted to remove that window and fill it back in with brick. Again, they came right out to take a look and create an estimate of the project. He was very thorough in explaining the project details to me, and I felt very confident that it would turn out beautifully. They came out on schedule, completed the work on schedule, and the quality of the work is great! Another satisfied customer experience! Additionally, Michelle works the office and does a great job of keeping you informed about timing, etc. She's really easy to work with, so there are never any questions that you can't get answers to.
Description of Work: Two different projects: 1) Spot Tuckpointing of a 1400 square foot brick bungalow, including the repair of a settlement crack, and patching two chimney bricks ($650) 2) Removal of a window and windowsill, infill window with used brick, toothout the edges, cleanup ($550)

It went great. Ryan and his company had repaired some tuckpointing around a window years earlier and I kept his contact information since he had done such a great job the first time and I was no less impressed this time. He came over within a day or two of my call and I had written estimate the day after his visit. On his visit, he explained everything about the work to be done and provided a time frame for the start and completion of the work. The employee who came to do the work was prompt and professional. He did a great job on the tuckpointing and even took extra care to make sure his ladder didn't mess up any of my flowers that were right under where he was working. Michelle, the office manager, is top notch as well. She is super organized and goes out of her way to make it easy to do business with Massey Tuckpointing. All around a great company with good people every step of the way.

The job was completed on time and the chimney looks great.
Description of Work: The work was promptly done as scheduled. the worker was very professional, left no mess and explained everything he did. I was very happy with the workmanship. I had the chimney tuck-pointed 1/3 way down [he did not try to rip me off and repair more than that was needed, like other companies tried to do]. The chimney cap was repaired and everything sealed. I would highly recommend this company.

They were the highest of four bids that I received. They came over and were very thorough. They came out and looked at it and then mailed me the bid. They didn’t follow up with their bid. I didn’t know what needed to be done and they gave me a bid. Then another company came out who was about one third of their price, but they were fine.

Everything went well. From my first contact with R. Massey to communicating with Michelle via emails. I was always informed of where we stood on their schedule. (they were very busy this summer) I would hire Massey Tuckpointing again and refer the company to others.
Description of Work: Tuckpointing on our chimney....took care of all loose sand from bricks....cleaned it up and made sure it was safe and ready for the winter months. Massey also alerted me about the soft spots on our roof. We had our roof looked at and found out we needed a new roof. Age of our roof: 20 years. Roofers found 10 soft boards. I'm so glad they informed us of the problem.

The quality was very good. We did not have any problem with their work. They came early in the morning and cleaned up every evening when they were finished. I wished they would have warned us about the the dust inside our house. We thought we had good quality window, but we had a fine coat of dust inside. Plus we have an above ground pool that also had dust in it. We would covered it if they would have warned us about the dust.

The overall experience was good. Their price was in the middle compared to the other bids that I received. Massey Tuckpointing began working on my building after I let another company go for a very poor job and punctuality. Travis, the foreman on the job was excellent. I cannot say enough great things about him. He was here every day, all day. Always friendly and always available to explain something to me if I had any questions. He is a great asset to the company. There were a few problems but Ryan (owner) was available to remedy them to the best of his ability. I will say that I would not recommend using their sub-contractor for any construction work. He was very sloppy and I ended up having him remove part of his work and do something else. This has to do with the header board mentioned above (the only part I am not completely happy with.) It is uneven and crooked. Travis did an excellent job painting and covered up a lot of the problems with the header board. Having said that, I am very happy with the outcome, they helped transform my building from old to new. They were even accommodating with a payment plan that fit my needs. Another import asset they have is the ability to use their lift rather than installing scaffolding and using ladders around your property.
Description of Work: Grind out mortar joint 1/2" - 3/4" on previously tuckpointed areas and on left and right returns. Tuckpoint matching a maroon color Type N Meramec Warrior mortar and concave joint as much as possible. Caulk control joint on left and right side of building and limestone window seal on 2nd floor. Clean with 600 detergent. Seal with Siloxane PD sealer. Apply mortar over damaged brick on front of elevation. Install missing brick at corner of 2nd story window. Ryan responded very quickly to my inquiry through Angie's List, first by phone...and then by preferred email. He understood what I was trying to accomplish, took notes....then also took pictures. The big came in within a few days, and the project started maybe two weeks later. His small crew was very efficient, very friendly and did their job well. Of the last 3 masonry professionals I hired in the last few years, Ryan and his crew, impressed me the most. It was a double pleasure in that their big also was the lowest that I received.

Good quality work for a great price. Scheduling was initially difficult, given they're a small operation that was heavily booked and October 2009 was the wettest on record. Time wasn't a major concern though, and seven weeks after signing the contract for service during a small lull in the rain they began work. The workmen were efficient and more than willing to discuss the work and answer questions along the way. A day and half later, the work was completed and the condition of the chimney and furnace stack was much improved. Given the wet weather and the poor initial condition of the brickwork, they returned a week later to reclean the face of the chimney and apply another coat of sealant - the chimney looks much better! Ryan takes pride in his work, met with me in person on a couple of different occasions to discuss the service, and I'd happily go with Massey Tuckpointing again for any masonry work.
Description of Work: Grind out old mortar joint 1/2" to 3/4" in depth on entire chimney and small furnace stack. Replace approximately 20 bad bricks with a used brick to match as close as possible. Tuckpointing with Type N Meramec Warrior mortar and an all weather joint matching color as close as possible. Apply Crown Coat Sealer to chimney caps and seal entire chimney with Siloxane PD Sealer.

This company was so special it merited special recognition. I interviewed numerous companies but all (except Massey) would give no advance notice of when they would do the work; used short term workers and needed access to my electricity. They all wanted to either build scaffolding or use long ladders both of which posed insurance issues. We got bids from $1,700 to $3,500. Then Ryan came along and the issues disappeared. They bring their own generator, have a bucket lift machine which can elevate them up 55 feet, they gave me a two week advance notice and he has one crew: Earl, a master mason and Michael, his assistant. They were both very hardworking, perfectionists and obviously took pride in their work. When they were finished, the yard and work area was immaculately cleaned up; they even raked up pieces of mortar and brick and took them away. I am so pleased I am having them back to bid some additional work on my sidewalk and driveway. AND they were the least expensive bidders!
