They did a great job. This was a bit of confusion as to what to do (the bid was done when I was at work), but I talked with them the day of the work to make sure it was clear, and they did exactly what I wanted.

I would tell everyone needing tuckpointing to use this company. As a matter of fact, don't bother getting another bid. They should be the first and only place you call! They are so HONEST and reliable. They ONLY fixed what was needed and I felt such confidence in their bid and their delivery of work. Great Company! I had another bid on this job and they were $a lot higher. Thank God I called Massey 1st and went with them. They did a great job. I will tell everyone to use this company.

The chimney was in bad need of tuckpointing since it was starting to tilt slightly. I called Massey and one other tuckpointing contractor and Massey was very prompt, detailed and professional with there estimate and Ryan was a pleasure to talk to about the details of the work and answered all my questions while he was at the house. He even told me it may be a few weeks out to start the work due to the work load. They called on a Friday afternoon to say they would start the work on the following Monday. I could have used a bit more notice but it ended up working out OK. The quality of the work was excellent, workers were prompt, courteous and professional. They cleaned up after they were done and protected the roof and plants below the work. They even washed off all the dust created from the roof shingles. I would definitely hire them again to do other tuckpointing work.

I called to get a free estimate and was told they do not service my area. It states that their "Service Area" is Saint Louis, Chesterfield, Webster Groves, Ladue - All of St. Louis and Surrounding Areas. I live in St. Louis but was told they do not go north of 270 & 70. They need to correct their "Service Area" description.

First, Ryan came to see me three different times to bid my work. The first time, i had just found settlement and did not know if i had more serious issues or not. While other contractors started tossing 10k bids at me for work i did not need, he recommended i have certain things checked and turns out i did not need all that. Saved me tons and was a huge relief. He came back the other times to help me get the right amount of work done in my budget. Then, when they actually did the work, it's beautiful. I can't even tell the old from the new wall. They showed me how to prevent another wall from moving where my builder didn't tie it and he can come shoot ties in on a later job if I want. The workmen were courteous, left no mess, were extra cautious to put boards under the scaffolds and even got my dog's toy out of a tree for me while they were up high. Seriously don't know what else i could have asked for. I have already recommended them to my neighbor with the same issue of loose bricks and will use NO ONE else on brick work ever again. I'm not typically communicating with the contractors that much, but these guys went beyond for me and i asked them to come back so many times, i know Matt, Michelle and Ryan by voice and off the top of my head. Really good people to work with, not just a big corporation. thanks you guys!

Massey Tuckpointing did a great job repairing the worn out mortar on my house. The crew was courteous and professional. They arrived on time, got to work and had the job finished and cleaned up ahead of schedule. The most impressive part of the experience, though, is how well the repaired areas blended in to the original mortar. If I didn't already know what areas had been repaired wouldn't be able to find them. I look forward to working with them again.

My fireplace chimney was in great need of repair. The old tuckpointing was falling out and many of the bricks were cracked and broken. Our chimney is made of used brick and many were very soft. Luckily my neighbor had his chimney repaired this spring. He had Massey do the repair and his chimney looks beautiful. I saw the work being done and was very impressed with the expertise of the workers and how they conducted themselves. I ask my neighbor how he liked the completed job and his experience with Massey Tuckpointing & Masonry. He said he was very pleased with his chimney and his experience with Massey. Thus, I definitely wanted an estimate from Massey to repair my chimney. I also got an estimate from another reputable company for comparison. The other estimate was comparable but they were not going to do as much repair work. Since I saw Massey?s work across the street and their estimate included performing more work for a comparable price I knew I wanted to use them. I am very pleased with my decision. I normally would get three estimates, but since my wife and I had already decided on Massey we accepted their estimate. Ryan Massey came out at the scheduled time and worked up the estimate. He was very professional. I had noticed several problems not associated directly with the chimney, but that needed to be repaired at the same time as the chimney. The flashing on the chimney was leaking and the fascia board holding up the gutter that runs in front of the chimney was rotted. I asked Ryan about them and he said his company does not do that work, but he gave me references for companies that would work with his company in getting all the work done. I utilized his recommendation for the flashing replacement, but a company I had used before for the gutter removal and reinstallation after the chimney repair. After receiving the estimate I contacted Ryan and told him we wanted considerably more bricks replaced than he had estimated. Since he didn?t think we needed nearly as many bricks replaced he came back and discussed it with me and my wife. We agreed with his recommendation, but still wanted more bricks replaced for esthetic reasons than the original estimate. Ryan said that was fine and he would give us a new estimate which we thought was very reasonable. The two workers, Ryan (not the same Ryan that did the estimate) and Mike arrived at the scheduled time. Both were very polite and personable. Since we were having many bricks replaced Ryan had me identify them so he knew exactly which ones were to be replaced. Due to rain an extra day was needed to ensure no water damage occurred. Thus, it turned out to require four days instead of three, two of them being partial days. Ryan and Mike were very experienced, conscientious, and did excellent work. They are pros. Removal of old mortar is a messy job, but each day when they left they cleaned up the work area so you couldn?t tell they had been working. To protect my deck from damage they put down pads similar to moving blankets. We are very pleased with our newly repaired chimney. The replaced bricks are an excellent match. It is the difference between night and day from the previous tuckpointing job which was done by amateurs. Massey is a professional company. The workers from the siding company that replaced my gutter complimented me on the chimney. I referred them to Massey. The repair of my chimney was a pleasing experience from getting the estimate to the completion of the job.

Someone came out and we asked if they could use a specific brand of mortar mix in the kitchen. (please note, we did say mortar...we had a faux brick put up as backs splash). we then showed them the porch and only asked that the color be matched back up on the porch. one week later (it was explained to us the bidder was out of town or something like that) we received an email stating: It is a different material than what are crews are used to, and with our extensive workload we can not properly man this project in a timely manner. Please keep us in mind for any future masonry projects you might have. Okay, fine...i can understand a company does not feel they are up for the challenge....not all companies can do interior work and maybe they were afraid of someone purchasing their own materials...its scary to venture into the unknown. But we were perplexed by the Please keep us in mind for any future masonry projects you might have comment,,,, so we replied with... can we get a bid for the porch then, or do you not want to do that either? we got a very quick response of: We are going to pass on that as well, we do not recommend grout being used on the ground and do not like to do work that we don't recommend. We also do not warrant the work. Ya know, i dont either....who in their right mind would use grout on outside work...who even mentioned grout would be used? all we mentioned about grout was we did NOT WANT GROUT IN OUR KITCHEN BECAUSE WE WANTED THE EXPOSED BRICK LOOK!!!!!! this company boasts paying attention to details...i would assume that listening to what the customer wants, and then discussing it would be a major part of any business. so buyer beware....you may ask for a simple toenail surgery and wake up without a foot ..... NEXT DAY: next day after posting my Angie's List Review, I receive a phone call from the company in question who immedately started drilling me over the phone as to why i put a bad review on Angie list and how her company has great ratings and how she misspoke and they are the only ones who.....the lady was very unprofessional, she would not let me finish a complete sentence and basically told me I was foolish to get any work done on my front porch because it would break apart in 5yrs or so. 1.) be an adult.....speak, listen, think, respond..that is how a conversations should go. 2.) dont argue with the customer. it only makes you look like a fool. so to anyone reading this post...sure, maybe i caught this company on a bad day, week, month, year, decade, and we were even willing to give them the chance to do the front porch....but after this conversation, the childish remarks by the representative of this company, i would seriously think twice about using them in the long run...think about it...im having this much difficulty getting someone to give me a fair bid and explain their reasoning...what if i had them do a job and then had an issue with how they did something... i would surmise that it would be more difficult geting them to correct any discrepancies than to get them to give me a bid. AGAIN, CAVIAT EMPTOR!!!

We were not going to use grout on the front porch, I mis-spoke and should have said mortar. (But you can use grout on tile work outdoors just so you know). That said we DO NOT recommend installing brick or stone on the ground with MORTAR due to our weather conditions, it does not hold, and we tell customers upfront that we do not warrant ground work as we do not recommend it. You all can see that we do not have a single bad review. We did not feel comfortable doing the interior work or the flat work that we know will fail in the near future. Why get so upset that we do not want to do work the we do not feel comfortable with or don't recommend. Sorry I said the work grout instead of mortar. At least we are upfront about the ground work, other will complete work and not tell you that.

There was a space between my house and an older addition that had been recently piered. Massey came out and used some heavy caulk to seal everything up between these brick walls. They also caulked some windows and did minor tuckpointing of settlement cracks. Someone came out to give the estimate. It was very reasonable compared to others. He was very patient and took the time to fully understand what I needed help with. A separate and just as friendly person came to do the work. He did and excellent job and I couldn't be more happy with the work. Michelle handled all of the appointments and billing very professionally and was very responsive. I would recommend them to anyone.

I had them tuckpoint my chimney after an inspection said I needed it for the sale of my house. They were slightly more expensive than the other company I called but I gave them the business based on their reputation, the way I received a detailed bid and the fact I needed it done in a certain time frame. They did not disappoint. They were professional, had good communication and did an excellent job. I highly recommend.

From the initial phone contact, to the quotation, to the actual job, Massey is excellent to deal with. The quote (one of three that I got) was the mid priced one. It was delivered in a professional handout that gave information about the company, the job they were going to do and the materials that would be used. On the scheduled day, the crew introduced themselves, erected a 40' scaffold and undertook the job. They were professional and very clean. When they left in the evening, they let me know and they completed the job on the second day. This was my first use of Angie's List. I came away very pleased with the list and with Massey. I would recommend both.

I cannot say enough positive about Michelle Massey and their crew. They were prompt, courteous and did an amazing job. A couple of other home repair crews were even wowed by the look of the chimney after tuckpointing. Massey thoroughly explained what they would be doing. While they were working on the top layers, they found a family of bats living in the space between the bricks and the chimney pipe. They had to stop working at that point. I called in a bat removal team. Bats are a protected species in our area and cannot be harmed. Massey was patient for the two weeks, while we made sure all the bats had left. They then completed the job. They communicated well and made sure that everything was working fine at different points of the job. Their pricing was best of all three bids I received. You will not go wrong if you hire Massey to tuckpoint your chimney. Thanks again to the entire Massey team. You are doing it right!
Description of Work: While having my roof replaced, the roofers mentioned that the chimney was in bad shape. I had Massey come out. They did a full chimney tuckpoint and also rebuilt the top two rows of bricks that we improperly set when originally built in 1975. The tuckpointing that was done about 12 years ago by another company on the bricks above the roof was just layered over the grout that was there. It was not ground out properly.
