They were fair, were careful with my yard and didn't make any ruts. They did efficient work and I would use them again. I did request a lien waver but was never mailed one. But knowing they have been in business 50 plus years, I didn't get too upset about that.

I have used their services before and was pretty happy with them. They did a professional job and cleaned up the yard nicely. I think their prices were a little high but probably competitive with others. We did have a misunderstanding about the timing on the removal of the honeysuckle bushes but since they came out earlier than expected they did deduct $100 off the price. They were very nice about everything!

The cost to cut down the tree and stump was $525. Unfortunately, I do not recall the cost for the tree trimming. This was my first experience with them. The owner is Tim. He is an arbostists so is quite experienced and knowledgeable about trees. They showed up according to scheduled and completed the job to my satisfaction.

Bryan Davidson showed up on time for the alloted appointment and walked the entire yard to survey the damage and answer my questions. I received the bid almost immediately and it was the lowest of 3 estimates. The company showed up on time and completed the work on time. They even trimmed a few additional branches at no extra charge.

I love this company. They showed up on time, gave me a very thorough estimate and lots of information about the trees on my property. They took down a large branch over planting beds, didn't damage one leaf and cleaned up every stick afterwards. I felt that their pruning was thorough but didn't leave my trees looking like something had gotten to them. After they were done, nothing looked hacked back, the trees just looked healthier, more open, and away from my house. I thought the price was very fair, they gave me a 10% discount for being a member of a garden establishment, and they even taught me how to correctly prune my shorter ornamental dogwoods so I could save some money. I will definitely use them again.

They did an okay job, they took the big stumps away but left a lot of debris, they did not clean up very well after themselves. I would have to think hard about using them again.

The crew worked through all the ground debris and spent hours cleaning up, sawing and removing damaged trees.

This is the second time this year that I've needed Gamma to come out and clean up after storms have damaged trees in my yard. Gamma was quick to send an estimator and provided a written estimate before he left. It took a week from the time I called to schedule the job until the crew showed up to remove the tree. I don't fault Gamma for the delay; I needed to wait until AmerenUE got a crew out to disconnect power lines that were wrapped up in the tree. Everything was cleaned up and removed. Gamma even removed some debris (house electric cable) left by the power company when they were out restoring power. The estimator was very prompt in returning my calls about the estimate. Other reviewers have mentioned delays in scheduling and receiving estimates. This has not been my experience with them at all.

They were on time professional and did a good job cleaning up.

Although the work was completed, our Christmas lights on that side of the house were left dangling off the gutter, with branches and litter all over our side of the house. Practically the entire time the work was being performed, the workers were yelling profanities at each other, so that we could clearly hear their crass conversation inside our home. My wife called Gamma to let them know what was going on, but nobody bothered to call back. Frankly, I'd never hire this company.

Gamma provided initial estimate on 9/20/2006. I called them a couple of days later to schedule the work. I was told to call back in 2-3 weeks to see where I was on their schedule. I called back 3 weeks later and was told someone would call me;the person answering the phone could not help me. A week later I had not heard back from the company so I called again. Again, I was told someone would call me. No one called me back so I called again 5 days later and told them either someone needed to call me to schedule the work or I would have to look elsewhere. Finally, on 11/3, Gamma committed to doing the work. They trimmed some trees and removed two trees. They returned the next day and removed 1 of the stumps. I had to call back to point out they forgot to remove the other tree stump. They returned the next day and removed the stump. Quality of the work was fine, but they badly need a better way of tracking scheduled work and communicating with customers, hence the low marks.

The workers arrived promptly and did a great job. They cleaned up all the debris and asked questions when they needed to.

Dreadful. I asked them to come to remove a tree blocking the street after a storm. They were supposed to remove all the trunk, limbs, etc. During the winter I discovered their idea of removal was to throw the wood into the woods in my neighbor's yard where it was not visible during the summer, also into the woods in my yard. They did not take anything away. Not a professional service, I would not recommend them. I would never use them again.

Supervisor returned my call to discuss bid and what was driving the cost. We found out a deck that was near the tree was going to make removal more difficult. We needed to replace deck anyway, and he agreed to discount the service if we removed it so they would have more room to work. Electric company did not sleeve the power lines in a timely manner so work scheduling was delayed. This was no fault of tree service. Complicated tree removal was performed w/out any damage to anyone's property. Their reputation for safety and detail was very important to us. Overall, we were very pleased.

The come out and spray our ground cover and leave a note they have been here. Then they just bill me by U.S. mail and I send them the bill. In the past they have called to see if we want to continue this yearly routine. The spray rids our ground cover of aphids.

These people are real professionals. More than that, the owner Tim Gamma is more like a "tree doctor". He knows so much about trees (i.e. Their age, diseases, how to care for them). He usually comes out first, gives you the estimate, then tells you when he can get you into the schedule. One of my trees posed a real danger to falling on my house. When Tim saw the tree, he immediately said, You will get moved up on the schedule! I had another company who was doing work in the neighborhood, look at my trees, and their estimate was far higher. Removing trees is not cheap, but I certainly did not want to get "ripped off". You must also consider not all tree companies can trim or remove trees close to the house, because of the risk involved. Shield Shade Tree is licensed to perform that type of work. The job was performed to my satisfaction, and clean up was terrific.

30 WORDS IS A LOT FOR SOMEONE WHO SIMPLY DOES THEIR WORK ON TIME AS REQUESTED, NEAT CLEAN AT A FAIR PRICE.

OVERALL, THE EXPERIENCE WAS A GOOD ONE IN THAT THEY (CREW OF THREE MEN) DID A GOOD JOB. NEGATIVES: 1) THE COMPANY REP/ESTIMATOR SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS, BUT ACTUAL WAS ABOUT 7 WEEKS, 2) THEY SHOULD CALL 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE TO SCHEDULE THE WORK, NOT NINETY MINUTES BEFORE, AND 3) THEY DAMAGED A SMALL JAPANESE MAPLE AND HAVE IGNORED MY REQUEST FOR COMPENSATION.

WE WAITED 16 MONTHS FOR THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE THAT GOOD!! THIS WAS A VERY SMALL SPACE TO WORK IN, AND THEY REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB. THEY ARE TOP OF THE LINE!

WE HAD TO CALL MULTIPLE TIMES (IN EXCESS OF FIVE TIMES) TO GET AN ESTIMATOR TO COME OUT AND BID ON A RATHER LARGE TREE CUTTING JOB. WE GOT CALLS BACK, BUT IT TOOK MANY WEEKS AND MULTIPLE CALLS, TO GET ANY KIND OF RESPONSE. I REALIZE IT IS A BUSY SEASON AFTER A COUPLE OF STORMS; HOWEVER, A MORE PROFESSIONAL APPROACH IS NEEDED IF I AM GOING TO HIRE A COMPANY TO DO A LARGE JOB OF THIS NATURE.

GAMMA DID A GOOD JOB FOR A FAIR PRICE. HOWEVER, I HAD TO CALL MORE THAN FIVE TIMES BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY CAME OUT TO DO THE WORK. AFTER I HAD APPROVED THE ESTIMATE, IT TOOK MORE THAN ONE MONTH FOR THEM TO COME OUT AND ACTUALLY REMOVE THE TREE. APART FROM THAT, I WAS PLEASED WITH THE JOB THEY DID.

COMPANY SHOWED UP ON SHORT NOTICE AND HAD TO RESCHEDULE AS WE COULD NOT NOTIFY NEIGHBORS TO HAVE THEIR PHONE LINES DROPPED. THEY CAME AGAIN WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. THEY DID A GREAT JOB, VERY PROFESSIONAL TREE-TRIMMING JOB, AND CLEANED UP THOROUGHLY. THEIR PRICE WAS GREAT, COMING IN ALMOST $1500 LESS THAN THE NEAREST COMPETITOR.

I RECEIVED ESTIMATE AND CREW CAME OUT WITH TRUCK AND SAID THEY HAD WRONG TRUCK ONCE THEY ARRIVED (NEEDED SMALL TRUCK). THEY ALSO SAID THEY HAD TO COORDINATE WITH ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR WIRING. THEY SAID THEY WOULD RETURN BUT HAVE NOT. THE COMPANY HAS NOT RETURNED ANY FOLLOW UP CALL MADE. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER, FRANK, HE HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALLS EITHER.

THE GAMMA REP WHO GAVE US A PROMPT ESTIMATE FOR OUR TREE WORK WAS VERY NICE AND POLITE. HE SAID THE DOG IN THE YARD SHOULD BE IN THE HOUSE BEFORE WORK COULD START. 2 DAYS LATER, WE WERE CALLED BY MAN FROM GAMMA IN EARLY AM. SAID DOG SHOULD IN HOUSE WITHIN 1-2 HOURS. A SPECIAL TRIP WAS MADE AND DOG WAS IN HOUSE WITHIN AN HOUR. GAMMA FAILED TO COME THAT DAY. WHEN GAMMA WAS CALLED THAT AFTERNOON TO FIND OUT WHY, THE WOMAN IN THE GAMMA OFFICE WAS VERY SHORT AND IMPOLITE. WHEN SHE CALLED THE NEXT DAY ABOUT PUTTING THE DOG IN THE HOUSE, I ASKED HER WHY NO ONE HAD CAME YESTERDAY WHEN DOG WAS IN HOUSE? SHE BECAME SHORT AND IMPOLITE, AND PUT ME ON HOLD. WHEN A GUY CAME BACK ON THE PHONE LINE, I ASKED HIM WHAT I'D ASKED THE LADY?. HE MUMBLED SOMETHING I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND, THEN BECAME VERY IMPOLITE AND ANGRY WHEN I REPEATED MY QUESTION. HE THEN SAID TO FORGET ABOUT THEM DOING THE WORK, AND HUNG UP.

EXTREMELY POOR. PROJECT 1. THEY NEVER ARRIVED TO SPRAY OR EXAMINE THE TREES. TWO OR THREE DAYS AFTER I CALLED, THEY CALLED SAYING THAT THE SPRAYING PORTION OF THE BUSINESS WAS CONDUCTED OUT OF A DIFFERENT OFFICE. THAT OFFICE MAILED ME A ''PERSONALIZED SPRAYING PLAN.'' THE PLAN WAS NOT PERSONALIZED. I KNOW IT WAS NOT BECAUSE IT WAS MAILED TO THE WRONG ADDRESS! PROJECT 2. THEY NEVER RESPONDED. I CALLED BACK AFTER TWO DAYS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY OFTEN DO THEIR EVALUATIONS ON SATURDAYS. THAT WAS FOUR DAYS AGO, THE DEAD TREE IS STILL IN MY YARD AND THERE HAS BEEN NO CONTACT FROM GAMMA ABOUT WHEN, IF OR HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO REMOVE THE TREE. THE TREE SPLIT IN HALF AND I NEED TO KNOW IF THE OTHER HALF CAN BE SAVED. NO COMMENT ON THAT ISSUE EITHER.
