Wed. 4/18/12 Proposal date. Fri. 4/20/12 Received proposal. Mon. 4/23/12 I called Gamma's office and asked a couple of questions about the proposal. I was given Bryan Davidson's cell phone number (his name was on the proposal). Called and got voicemail. He called me back a little later. I told him to schedule the removal of the Bradford Pear trees, grind the stumps, and deadwood the maple tree. He said they were about 2 weeks out and the work should be completed by the end of the following week, 5/4/12. Mon. 5/14/12 No tree work had been done and I hadn't heard from anyone at Gamma. I called the office to see if I was still on their schedule. The woman gave me Bryan Davidson's cell # and suggested I call him. Got his voicemail. He called me back on my cell and seemed surprised that I hadn't been contacted about the delay. Said I was scheduled for Thursday of that week. Thu. 5/17/12 Got home from work about 6:30 pm. No tree work had been done. 2 voicemails on my home answering machine. First was from 8:02 am. Bryan Davidson said they were on their way. Second was at 8:17 am. Said there was some confusion regarding my address. 2 people with my name in their database (only one on the proposal!). Asked that I call back ASAP and gave Bryan Davidson's cell #. I called the number and got voicemail. He called back 10 or15 minutes later when I was in the shower. Told my wife about the mixup on the address and said he would send 2 crews out the following day to complete the job. Fri. 5/18/12 My wife got home from work at 3:45 pm. The Bradford Pear trees had been removed and the debris hauled away. The stumps had not been ground and the maple tree had not been deadwooded. There was no communication from Gamma regarding the delay. Tue. 5/29/12 Stumps had been ground. Maple not deadwooded. No communication from Gamma. Thu. 5/31/12 Received invoice and quot;Due on receiptand quot;. All work including the maple tree was on the invoice. Called the number on the bill and got voicemail. Requested someone call me as the work hadn't been completed. Fri. 6/1/12 There was a voicemail from Bryan Davidson on my machine when I got home from work. Said he apologized and didn't know why his crew hadn't deadwooded the maple tree. Said they'd finish the job the following week. Mon. 6/4/12 2 man crew came to deadwood the maple tree. They told my wife that this wasn't on their original work order. Job was finally complete 31 days after the original projected finish date. I'm happy with the quality of the work, but the quality of the service and lack of communication from Gamma Tree Service I find completely unacceptable.

The service was lousy. They didn't have done the job and they were late. They didn't do what we asked them to do. So, we just don't use them anymore.

They do a thorough job and clean up well. They follow up on what has to be done. They have have a wide variety of equipment, too.

The quality of their work was the main thing that stood out. They were very professional. They did an excellent job of clean-up. They are prompt and do quality work. They really listen to your requests.

They did a wonderful job and they cleaned up. We have used them before and we were happy with their service. The price might have been a little high; but I am not sure of that because I don't have a comparison, as we didn't get estimates from any other companies. They come when they say they are coming and they do a good job. They worked really hard because we had a big mess for them. They did a quality job and they didn't take very many breaks.

They were fine. We didn't have any problems at all. They suggested a variety of things to do, for example iron treatment on one big maple tree. I think we were generally very satisfied with the work. I don't remember how much we spent. The reason being, it wasn't a specified amount for a specified service. We told them to send out a crew for two days and we would tell them what has to be done, and figure out and make it up as we go along. So we told them that they could give us a bill for that. They agreed to that. This was an unusual kind of service and not normal. We liked their work the first day and they gave us a bid for a variety of things. We ended up throwing out the bid because we kept doing different things as we went along. Finally we decided to use the crew for two days. They were creative and very flexible. They had some scheduling issues and they tried to keep their guys busy, and so it was a question of who could come back the next day. People were scheduled elsewhere but everyone worked around it. So it was a satisfying experience. I don't have much of a basis for comparison regarding the price. I'm not sure if they were expensive or not. They were entirely worth it. They were neither cheap nor expensive. It was worth what we paid for. We didn't go through a bidding process and we didn't get another bid. They happened to do some work for somebody in the neighborhood I think, and that's how we got them. They were very responsive. They were very enthusiastic and very aggressive. They just did what they thought needed to be done. They were proactive. I thought they were fine with punctuality. They were not late. They cleaned up really well. They swept up and hauled away stuff. They shredded all the limbs. They did really well in terms of cleaning. There was sawdust and twigs everywhere. They were very good about cleaning all that. We will use their services again in the future.

I liked my experience with them; however I don't remember the owner saying that I needed to use a weed eradicator to keep the honeysuckle from coming back. He may have, but I don't remember. I like how my yard looked. They did exactly what I asked and I wasn't even there when they were working. I think they are a little pricey, but I really don't know. The quality of their work was very good and they cleaned up after themselves. They did a follow up to make sure I liked everything so that was very much appreciated.

We cancelled another tree service to hire Gamma because we had heard good things about them. We didn't experience any of that. The sales rep Mark Chartrand didn't know a maple from an oak and when the guys showed up to do the job, they joked about it. Ameren was supposed to show up and drop the electric line to our house. They never showed as they were running behind because of the tornado damage in North County. The guys started on the tree anyway and several times dropped large branches on our electrical line. After several hours and the tree cut down, the guys announced they had to leave. They left much of the tree just sitting in our back yard and said someone was coming later to pick it up. What we didn't notice at the time was the rest of the tree that they were supposed to haul off was left in our neighbor's yard! I called, complained and they came out to remove the debris from the neighbor's yard and said they would be out later for ours. The first crew that came out left garbage on our patio including drink cans and bottles, and cigarette butts. They moved on of our lawn chairs to the side of the house to sit on for a break and never put it back. They left one of their cutting tools in on flowers in one of our flower beds. They never came out to finish. Three days later and still no one. I had to call and complain to get them back out again. They finished the job, removing the rest of the tree and grinding the stump. I was promised that they would back-fill the holes they left, and they never did. The last crew decided to fill up one of our garbage cans with yard waste, which I had to empty. We have another tree that needs to be taken down at this house and we own another house in Ferguson which has a much larger tree than the one they just removed. I guarantee Gamma will not get our business again.

Very professional. Left the place tidy. They even removed some tree stumps that I forgot to point out during the estimate. Originally, I was not going to have the tree in the front yard removed, but he mentioned that it looked like it was going to fall down soon. After it was cut down, the stump was hollow in the middle, so he was right. I'm glad I listened to him because we had a bad storm a week later and that tree could have been on my house.

They are excellent. I have used them last year as well. I liked the service that I got. They come out and give you an estimate. If you are not at home, they just leave it in your mail box. You can call them back. They came and gave an estimate within two days after I called them. They came right out within a couple days to do the job. They were prompt. I wasn’t home when they came to do the job, but I wasn’t worried about it. They called me back to see if everything was done to my satisfaction.

We have been dealing with them for a long time. They send us Christmas cars as well. They have been doing a very satisfied job. I rate them high overall.

The pricing was toward the high end, as I recall. They were local, so we liked that, but the high bid wasn't worth it. They gave some good advice and the man seemed honest and forthcoming. He wasn't just out to get the work.

I was really happy with Gamma Tree Service. They were here quite a while. They trimmed the trees quite well. They got the trees off of the top of the house. They didn't leave a mess. They came right away.

I contacted the company on their website. Tim Gamma came and gave an estimate within a week. Workers were efficient and professional. They had all the right equipment. The workers checked with me to make sure the I was satisfied with the job. Pricing was well within other bids I got.

Great! I got an estimate the day after I called from Tom Gamma. I didn't have to be there for the work. I didn't have to be there to pay, they just called a couple days after and got my credit card information. They probably could have cleaned up a little better after they were finished, but it is natural, so I wasn't too worried.

The service was excellent and they were punctual. They walked through the job before they started and did exactly what they were supposed to. They stayed within the estimate given and did a great job in cleaning up after they were done.

They have generally done a good job for us, but it has been a while. They come out once a year to do the job.

They were the least expensive among the people I had called. I have used them three or four times. They are punctual and don't over charge me. The workers are willing to do a little bit more than what I had originally talked with them at the time of hiring them. They just seem to ask if I needed them to do anything more. They clean up the yard when they finish. They are good.

They're reliable, very safe, licensed, and bonded. They clean up after the work is complete and they are reasonably priced. They are arborist as well, keeping trees healthy. They are the only people I will call when I need this type of service. Price depends on the service.

OK. It was hard to judge what work I would be getting from their bid. I saw some areas where I think more trimming should have been done.

They killed all the bugs. Their work is very high quality. Their price is very cheap compared to others. I would highly recommend them and use them again.

We got three estimates on the work and this was the middle estimate. We chose Gamma because they are licensed arborists and seemed to understand what we wanted done better than the others. The crew was punctual, worked most of the day and did each project thoroughly. They protected and cleaned up the yard, ground up all the limbs and hauled everything away. Overall, we were quite satisfied with the work.

Also known as Gamma Shield Shade Tree, this was the most professional of the 4 companies I contacted to provide estimates. Their ratings on this list also recommended them. It took them about a week to get out to do the estimate, and then they mailed it in writing to me. The estimate was in line with the other 2 that i received (all between $1500 and $1700, and all about 4 times more than I paid for the same job 5 years ago!!!). They scheduled the day, worked from a truck-cherry picker. Other than removing a lot more growth than i expected and that they described on the phone and in writing, I was pleased with the job. I wasn't there when the work was done, and realized when talking on the phone to my key contact (who'd I'd assume was doing the job himself), that the job was being done by some other worker/s. But all in all a good transaction, very professional, and would use again if i couldn't find someone to do it for a lot less. I do have some lingering concern about the health of the heavily trimmed and pruned trees in the summer heat.
