We were very happy with Mr. Galati's response to our request for an estimate.
Description of Work: Mr. Galati gave us an estimate for tuckpointing work. His price was comparable to the company that we decided to use. He came when he said that he would, and got back to us with an estimate very quickly. Mr. Galati had done satisfactory work for us many years ago, but we decided to go with another company that we have used more recently. We appreciate the time that Mr. Galati took to give us an estimate.

The man who did the estimate was punctual and knowledgeable. They didn't give much notice when they called to schedule the work, but were agreeable to scheduling on a date and time that worked for us. They actually said that we didn't need to have work done that someone else (on Angie's list) said we needed. Their work was good and my only complaint is that one of the workers used a cell phone while on our roof. When asked if we were satisfied with the work by the company rep, I reported this. She indicated her dismay and she said this would be addressed.

Dan and his team had done some work for me prior to this job (spot and then whole house tuckpointing). I had a GREAT experience and didn't look for anyone else when this job began. Dan made sure I was comfortable with the bid and took time to explain everything to me during that process. His team lead was terrific and the quality of the workmanship, their attention to detail and customer service are amazing!

Extremely professional and timely. Everything looks brand new...huge difference. Dan Galati was excellent at managing the project and he was good about keeping us up to date.
Description of Work: We had all brick wing walls, patios and walks repaired and tuckpointed. Repairs required replacing several bricks and diggin out some old mortar. We also had rpairs and tuckpointing to slate patio and front door stairs. Everying was then waterproofed. It was a large undertaking and took about 10 days time.

The work was done in very professional manner. Nearly all of the arrangements were handled by phone so I didn't actually meet Dan Galati until near the end of the job. We talked often by phone. He was very trustworthy and gave me frequent updates on the progress of the work. Dan had to come up with a creative solution to my problem and then execute it, which he did in a great fashion. Part of the job involved metalwork, and Dan identified Metalworx to do that part of the job. Dan acted as the contractor with the metalwork as a subcontractor, which made my life much easier. Dan assured me that the job site would be kept clean and neat every day, and it was. I would definitely use Galati & Sons again.
Description of Work: Galati & Sons rebuilt a brick wall and worked with a metalworker to create a new method of attaching an iron fence to the top of the brick wall. Before Galati's work, the iron fence posts were inserted directly into the brick and water would seep into the top of the brick, eventually damaging the top rows of brick and requiring frequent and not very effective maintenance. Galati rebuilt the top of the brick wall and worked with a metalworker to create new footings for the fence that could be screwed into the brick so that the thick iron posts would not have to be inserted into the brick wall. A creative solution that looks good, too.

The entire experience was exceptional. The estimate for work was received promptly. The owner of the company made himself available on a Saturday to come over to answer our questions. After one bad tuckpoint job, we were very skeptical and wanted to clearly understand the work to be performed. Their workmanship exceeded our expectations. Our chimeny is on the front of our house and is the focal point. It is no longer an eye sore. Clean up of the job site was also fantastic. You would not have known a work crew was there it was so clean. Matching of the motar color was another plus since it was the work was only from the roofline up. The top and bottom half of the chimeny match color and motar joints.
Description of Work: Stone (not brick) chimney solid tuckpointed from the roof line up and waterproofing. Galati hired to completely re-do another Angie's list member work that was not acceptable. Job was very labor intensive since the old motar needed to be removed to get a clean, recessed motar joint. Another Angie's list member looked at the chimney and would not even bid the job. We were very happy that two Angie's list members gave us an estimate to do the job. We selected Galati & Sons over the other contractor. They were selected to do the work since they followed up with a phone call after the estimate was received. They wanted the job.

Our 40 year old house had begun to separate due to settling. We had to have 32 piers put in to stabilize the foundation. Due to the settling, the rear of the house's brick fascia had separated from the house and several bricks had fallen off. There were major gaps in several areas of mortar and it appeared one whole area of the house had totally shifted. After the pier work was completed, we had Dan give us an estimate on fixing the damage to the bricks. I felt the damage was permanent and the house would never look the same. Dan was EXTREMELY professional and explained the whole process and assured me they would be able to fix the damage. When they came out to assess the damage, they found other places around the house where there were large gaps in the bricks from the settling. I opted to have them fix those areas also. They completed the work in three days, did a great job in cleaning up afterwards and the finished product was fantastic. I no longer am concerned about possible negative ramifications upon selling our house the damage may have brought. The young gentleman who performed the work was very professional and also very pleasant. I like to ask a lot of questions about how things work and he was more than willing to explain things to me. Dan had been recommended by several people in the construction industry that I trust so I did not even get other bids. If I ever need any other services that Dan offers he will be the first one I call.

Company responded right away, I had an estimate within a week and the estimate was about half the price of the other bids I had received. While my house is small some of the estimates I received were over $10,000. Galati & Sons estimate was under $6,000. Initially I was told they could not start for 2 months, but a month later they called and said they could start the next week. They arrived on Monday morning and had the job completed in 4 days. At the end of everyday working they cleaned everything up to the point you couldn't even tell they had been there. Completed work was very clean and nice looking. I highly recommend this company. Date of work was fall 2008.

Good response to our initial inquiry. Gave a written bid with all details, arrived on time, finished all the work in a single day, cleaned up after themselves, both inside and out, and responded promptly when we discovered the following day that they'd missed one spot. That was attended to quickly as well.

Jimmy Hayes at Galati was really great to work with - we needed to schedule the front porch after having a pier installed. They worked with us to complete the bulk of the job on the main house first, and were very patient when our contractor for the piering was delayed, further delaying the porch tuckpointing. They arrived on time when they said they would be at the house, cleaned up SPOTLESSLY (This is a biggie in my book when brick dust can get everywhere.), and the work was done professionally. The house looks better than it has in years!

Our front steps are made of stones and bricks and were in terrible shape. Instead of having to redo the entire front staircase, they were able to repair, clean and seal the steps to make them look new again. The workers were very nice and considerate. They made sure to seal the door closed to ensure no dust or smell came through. Very reliable company.

Dan and his crews have given us some of the best contractor experiences we've ever had. He is professional, and was willing to meet with us during evenings/Saturdays to accommodate our work schedules. Once the jobs started, they were finished quickly, typically three-four days for each job. The crews did their best to protect our landscaping, and they even hosed down the neighbors driveway and cars from all of the mortar dust as the old mortar was ground out. The resulting work has been very pleasing. We have had no problems with the mortar over the past several winters. The house looks fantastic again and should be in great shape for years to come. We met with three different companies and obtained estimates before starting our project. Dan's bid wasn't the cheapest, nor was it the most expensive, but we did get a warm fuzzy and decided to accept his bid. The next time we had work done, we didn't even call anyone else.
Description of Work: Over the course of two summers had entire two-story Tudor house fully tuckpointed, walls of garage spot tuckpointed in portions, completely tuckpointed in others, had mortar caps replaced/repaired between decorative parapets on garage.
