We do not repair or work on any type of reclining or power lift mechanisms. We do NOT offer office equipment repair (ex: fax machines etc) - but for some reason I cannot remove it from our 'categories' ... sorry! We truly apologize, as we do not travel to the Wentzville area and only a limited Lake St Louis area.
Amazing! They were so reasonable and also they do really fine work on things that are delicate.

It was a delight to work with Custom Furniture Works. We took one of the pieces to them, and then they made a trip to the storage facility to give us their estimate and to pick up the rest of the furniture. They refinished the furniture beautifully, and they took care to preserve the maker's signature. They consulted us on what we wanted done at every step. For the footstool, they were able to creatively incorporate a fragment of oriental rug I had into the upholstery. I'm very pleased with the results on these pieces that had special family meaning to me.
Description of Work: They refinished a large dresser, a chest of drawers, and two end tables and refinished and reupholstered a footstool. These were all walnut handmade pieces of furniture about 60 years old. The furniture had been in storage and had some water damage, fingernail polish spills, and cracks, which were all repaired beautifully.

I contacted Custom Furniture Works regarding an antique bookcase that had been chewed badly by our puppy many years ago. They told me the piece was repairable. They took the bookcase and rebuilt two of the feet and then completely refinished the bookcase. It looks magnificent. I absolutely recommend this company for your furniture repairs. They may not be the least expensive company to repair furniture but if you have good furniture that needs to be repaired this is where you want to go to be sure it will look good and function for generations more. The people are fantastic and very helpful. Absolutely worth every penny.

Excellent overall. My 25 year old table was very dull and had water damage from almost daily use. It now looks absolutely beautiful. I keep walking by it to admire how well it is finished. When they came to provide a firm bid and to pick up the table, we discussed finishes. I think that the finish is perfect for this table, its style and the kind of wood that it is made from. I very much appreciated their honest assessment of time frame to finish it (initially, I had contacted them in November and they told me that my table would be in the shop for 7-8 weeks which is too long for me). I contacted them again in the spring, and they said 4 weeks. They called me after 2 weeks to say it was completed! They are professional and provide a fine service. I hope to enjoy this table with my family for many years to come.

I liked them. They did a very nice job. They came, they gave me an estimate, they picked it up, they brought it back and it was great. They told me how long it would take, they called me within a week, and told me it was ready, and it was fine. The price was not cheap, but it was not out of price, for what I got. I have no problem recommending them to anybody. The table I had done, is 125 years old, and it has been in the family that long.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Custom Furniture Works. They refinished a china cabinet for me that originally belonged to my grandmother's grandmother, so it has been in my family for quite some time, and is very important to me. This was a very delicate job, as the cabinet has curved glass (obviously very old), that had to be removed in order to complete the work. The cabinet is oak veneer, and the veneer had lots of cracks, scratching, etc from wear and tear, and general lack of proper care of the piece for the past several years. It also had a non-working lock that the guys fixed and had fitted with a key. These craftsmen completely preserved the integrity and personality of this unique piece of furniture, while at the same time restoring it beyond any evidence of imperfection. I actually got choked up seeing the finished product. Beyond the sheer quality of their work, the gentlemen were punctual, professional and friendly, and the office staff is the same. Please consider Custom Furniture Works for your furniture restoring needs. You will not be disappointed!

The wood on my grandmother's 100 year old Jenny Lind bed had dried out and was falling apart to such an extent that a "handy man" had screwed the sideboards into the head- and footboards and attached wooden shims to the legs in an effort to keep them from splitting and splintering more. I was afraid it was beyond hope. But the Custom Furniture guys came out, assured me they could fix it, and returned with it 4 weeks later looking better than the day my grandma bought it. I could not see where the repairs has been done and everything was so beautifully finished, that it looked again like the beautiful bed it once was. I couldn't be happier with the work done, with the punctuality and professionalism of the men, and the friendliness of the entire company. I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone in need of expert furniture repair.

The re-finish work was awesome!!! -- The results exceeded my expectations and as such I can honestly say Custom Furniture Works goes out of their way to assure complete customer satisfaction. Overall excellent job and response. As I referenced in my earlier review I definitely would not hesitate to use Custom Furniture again and / or recommend their services to others.
Description of Work: After reviewing my review regarding their initial job, Custom Furniture Works contacted me to discuss how they could make sure I was completely satisfied with the work they had performed. They came to my home, picked up the table top and refinished it at no additional cost to me.

Scott and Custom Furniture were great to work with. It did take a while to get the finished product but they were up front about that from the beginning and we were not in a hurry. We initially touched base with them in approximately March. They estimated May. In May they called to say one of the builders was out and as a result they were running behind by several months. In July we met with them to discuss the plans and pictures of similar desks we shared. Scott was great and giving us suggestions and various options we might want to consider. 4-5 weeks later they called to have us come and look at the top of the desk to see if we wanted anything changed and also at the templates for the legs to ensure we liked it. 2 days later they called that it was ready and to verify whether we wanted external hardware. Scott offered to even deliver it without but to bring hardware out and install it later if we wanted. But after reviewing the photos he texted and the pictures I found online I send him an idea of what he wanted and by the time it was delivered the next day (15 hours later) they were installed. They made several helpful suggestions (such as installing a power strip under the desk with a gromit built in so that we only have one cord running from the desk). The desk turned out beautifully. Very similar to the pictures I had shared by customized to our preferences. The reason we had this custom made is because the one our designer found online that met our needs cost about $3600. Therefore, we had this custom made from beautiful mahogany wood and exactly to what we wanted, for about half the cost. Plus we worked with a nice, local, company too.

Custom Furniture Works repaired and refinished two sets of tables and chairs, one an oak table and four chairs that had belonged to my grandmother and were nearly 100 years old, the other a maple Nichols & Stone table and six chairs that had belonged to my mother. They reglued the chairs and made replacement rungs that were missing or broken. Both sets turned out great, especially the Nichols & Stone set. It was amazing. Custom Furniture Works is not cheap, but they do great work and deliver what they promise. Previously, they also repaired and redid two 100 year old steamer trunks that had belonged to my wife's grandmother. They were also amazing when finished.

I picked up a mantle at an antique store. Custom Furniture modified it to fit my fireplace opening, matching the wood and detail to the original. The finish turned out very well and looks great. There was one small issue with the installation. The base molding that butted up against the mantle was not cut cleanly and there was a sloppy gap. Other than that, I think I got a very good value and would gladly use them again.

Cedar chest's decorative veneer, one of the legs, and hinges were extremely damaged from years of use and water damage from being in a garage that flooded. The interior was in perfect condition and the wood was sound. The people at Custom Furniture Works were professional and courteous to me. I had asked that the chest would be restored to what it had originally looked like and if it could be done before Christmas. I was given a price and informed of how the chest would be restored and given a date on when it would be completed. I was astonished when I saw how lovely the chest turned out. The decorative veneer was replicated precisely as it had originally looked, the color and luster of the finish was exactly what I wanted, the lid closes perfectly now, and it was done Christmas, too! I thought the price was a little high, however, on seeing the quality of woodworking and craftsmanship, I felt the price was worth it.

The customer service was exceptional- from the first contact on the phone, through coming to their store to choose a sample, to scheduling the estimate and the pick-up of the ottoman- to the final job (VERY quick, by the way-we expected to have the ottoman out of the house for a much longer time than it took!!) we could not have asked for a better experience-or a better result. The employees were exactly on time to give the estimate, and hit the pick-up time exactly as well. This operation goes ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure the process is easy for the customer. All of this great selection, service, and workmanship came with a most reasonable cost. Amazing!
Description of Work: Wow! What a great company: They re-covered an ottoman for us which was originally covered in light colored leather. We wanted a darker color. Custom Home Furniture had a large HUGE supply of fabric and materials samples from which to choose. They offered a numerous array of samples which were large enough to really be able to tell what the material would look like - and varied enough to get EXACTLY what we wanted- not easy, since we covered the ottoman in navy leather- not a typical choice! We were also given information about what the various ratings on the fabrics mean- scratch test, fire retardant, etc. when we went through the samples at the store.

No issues. Called them for an estimate, brought the items to them and they were finished as promised on time and at the cost.
Description of Work: I had a dining room chair fixed and an antique bookshelf refinished. I brought in the drawer of an antique desk I have and they were able to match the finish so the bookshelf and desk match. The bookshelf looks great. The dining room chair, more than 90 years old, was broken at several joints and was repaired. Can't even tell there was a problem and the chair is as sturdy as ever. They also delivered the finished products to my house at no charge.

They were super. Their workmanship is spectacular. They fixed our chair as good as new. They were very professional. I took in one chair and then I brought in another table for refinishing. He said the chair is almost done and we will accelerate this coffee table and we will deliver it to you in a week. I didn't have to go pick it up. They delivered it to my home exactly that time. I found them because of Angie's list reviews. I think their business will probably grow. I think it already is growing. I know they had to put in a new bookkeeping system because they outgrew the one they had.
Description of Work: I have used Custom Furniture Works four times now. They re-glued a couple of chairs and refinished an old coffee table that was in my father's estate. Six weeks prior to that, they started re-gluing an old rocking chair that was falling apart on me. The last time was to mold a kitchen chairs.

Please see above. I can add that the lady on the phone knew all about that kind of table and had fixed many of them. They did and excellent job and I thought $75 was a very reasonable price. I heartilhy recommend them for any furniture repair.
Description of Work: We have a dining room table that is called a pedestal table. It is held up by a column that rises from the floor to the center of the table. At the bottom of the column 4 legs branch out. One of those legs had broke off. I looked it over but could not find a way to reconnect the leg to the colunm. We had a handyman fix some things for us and included the table on our list of things to fix. The supervisor was sure that the glue he had in mnd would do the job. The man sent to do our projects did a good job but not with the table. He had it clamped shut and left as that was his last project. After waiting 2 days we took the clamps off and the leg immediatly fell off We looked in the yellow pages and found Custom Furniture Repair under "Furniture" It had an A rating on Angies List. So we called them. The table came apart and we took the column and legs to them. They reattached the leg and reenforced all the legs. The table is back to being good as new.

They were able to come to my home the same day I called to look at my situation and provide an estimate. I decided to have them do the work and they took the doors that day. The guy said it would be 3-5 weeks but the work was done in 2 weeks. I went to their location on Manchester just east of McCausland to check out the doors before accepting the work. The guy I talked to (Jeff) was very friendly. They delivered the doors on time. It cost me $400 per door which I thought was pricey but the color match and finish is well worth it and have no regrets. Bottom line the doors look great now!
Description of Work: I had this company stain and finish 5 unfinished pine interior doors. They matched the color and finish to existing doors and trim very well.

The custom-made seating cushion that Custom Works made for our antique piano bench is gorgeous and fits perfectly. When the piano tuners came over, they were so impressed they wanted the referral---and were also surprised we paid only about $200, when lesser bench covers often cost much more. Custom Works made a helpful suggestion to use "recycled leather," which contains some natural fibers for a better look than vinyl but much lower cost than full leather, when they probably could have upsold us to leather. One really helpful thing they did was to put our job in a "queue", and then called us right before they were ready to start so we could drop off the bench. This way we didn't have to leave our piano bench there for weeks and weeks, but they still had the bench in their shop while constructing the cushion in order to ensure a perfect fit. All in all, a great experience and I will go back there again
Description of Work: They created a custom-made seating cushion for an antique piano bench.
Jeff Gibbs is a wonder and John who does the painting and staining is great. This was one of the best experiences, bar none, that I have ever had. Everyone I met in the company was very pleasant and easy to work with. Their work ethic is exceptional! From the moment we met and started talking about the job, I had complete confidence that we could work together and in the end, I would have what I hoped for. Because of other work that was being done in the house, Jeff had to do some working around other schedules and things took much longer than expected (through no fault of Jeff.) So he worked with our schedule and was always very acommodating about it. He checked with me at every step and made helpful suggestions when i was unsure how to procede. I just can't say enough positive things about Jeff and all the people at Custom Furniture Works. I LOVE my kitchen and hope to work with them on some other projects soon.
Description of Work: When we purchased a new 87 year old home, the kitchen was country with oak cabinets and needed updating. i didn't want to tear everything out and the layout was good, so I decided to have new cabinet doors made and veener the existing cabinets. We also had the existing island redesigned. The toekicks were replaced and repainted Several smaller things were done such as adding a new shelf and a blackboard. Jeff was so particular that he took one cabinet back to his shop to replace the cubby hole back piece with alder (the wood he helped me select) so that if anyone noticed, it would match exactly.

Last year, I received an older rocker chair from my mother that she purchased in the mid 80s. The wood was in good shape, but I wanted it painted white and it needed a new seat cushion. I looked into the cost of refinishing versus the cost of buying a new rocking chair. New rocking chairs are just not made with the same quality these days. While it was going to cost just as much to refinish, I kept what I inherited. Also note, I was not in any hurry to get this back, time was not of essence. I sent a picture of the rocking chair along with what I wanted done. The high level estimate came back the same day. We dropped off the rocker a few days later. After Custom Furnitures in-person inspection, the reglueing was highly recommended (not included in high level estimate), so the cost was bumped up a little. Dawn did provide to option to reglue or not. I went with the recommendation. Original estimate for completion was mid September. I followed up end of September. They wanted to touch up the chair before we came to pick it up. Chair was ready beginning of October. Recommendation: If you are picking up the furniture yourself, make sure you bring the right materials to wrap it up and to prevent any scratching. Overall - very satisfied. I would use them again if I had another piece of furniture I wanted refinished. Work was performed at Custom Furniture's building.
Description of Work: Refinished wooden rocker. Sent photograph of the rocker - front and back. Received high level estimate back that day. Finish was stripped and refinished - all pieces were reglued and put back together. New seat pad was installed along with new seat cushion. Note: My home was outside of their delivery range so we had to drop off and pick up.

My husband and I took my old high chair to Custom Furniture Works on Oct. 19 for a quote on a restoration job. The quote was higher than we expected, but we knew that removing the old latex paint was a time-consuming job (because we had started that seemingly never-ending chore). We agreed to the price because we plan to keep this piece of furniture in the family for future generations to enjoy. The craftsman explained to us what needed to be done to restore the high chair, including replacing a strap, and asked me my color preference. On the spot, he patiently blended colors to produce the finish that I had envisioned (a darkish cherry). At the front desk, Dawn prepared the paper work, applied the 5% discount for Angie's List membership, and asked if we need the chair by Thanksgiving. In fact, we were hoping to have the chair finished as soon as possible because our granddaughter didn't have a proper chair to use in the meantime. Dawn told us the chair would be ready by Thanksgiving AND that CFW would deliver it to our home at no extra charge. Three weeks later, on Nov. 9, the newly restored high chair was delivered -- well before Thanksgiving. The 65-year-old "relic" now looks brand new, and the cherry finish is beautiful! The restoration actually turned out better than we expected (how often does THAT happen in a lifetime?) Based on our experience, we are happy to recommend the quality of service and workmanship that Custom Furniture Works provides. We would certainly revisit them.
Description of Work: Custom Furniture Works restored and refinished a 65-year-old wooden high chair, which is now in use by a third-generation family member (our granddaughter) and will be passed on to future generations as a functional heirloom. The high chair is made of ash wood and was sturdy before restoration; however, it needed labor-intensive and time-consuming removal of old white paint. Also, certain hardware, such as a safety strap, needed to be replaced. CFW made all necessary repairs and provided a lovely cherry finish that turned out even better than I had anticipated.

I called around the first of October after seeing the rave reviews on Angie's List. Custom Furniture came out that afternoon and looked at my twp antique end tables and gave me an estimate. The price seemed reasonable so I signed the estimate on the spot and they took the furniture with them when they left. They said it would be about 4-6 weeks and they called four weeks later saying the pieces were done. We set an appointment for them to come out and deliver the furniture. They were right on time and the end tables look amazing!! They even fixed some missing pieces! I will definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Refinish two antique end tables.
