They went very well. I was very impressed with them. They were timely. They showed up on time. The completed the job on time. They were true to their bid cost.

The work is fine. They did okay. The work was nice. Some of the plants they used were not as big as they were supposed to be. I think they are on the expensive side.

The owner of the company completed the work as promised. We have no complaints.

Project was pretty simple/specific. The estimator gave me several options at different price points. It took a little time to schedule the work. One scheduled, they arrived when expected and finished on time.

The short version is that I found Basile to be professional, easy to work with, have great ideas, and do a very high quality job. I was extremely pleased with both the process and the result, and would recommend them highly. Here are a few details: 1. Mike Basile came out to our house to do the quote. While at our house, he was very helpful in proposing solutions to problems, and was also very good at listening to what we wanted. The proposal he came up with was the best one we received. It achieved our goals within our proposed budget. It was clear in talking with him that Mike had a great mix of technical knowledge (like drainage issues), plant knowledge (he was able to offer a bunch of different alternatives and discuss their tradeoffs) and aesthetic sense (working with the slope of our yard, etc.) 2. The implementation of Mike's plan went smoothly all the way through. Mike said they would start in early September, they started September 2nd. Everyone who worked on the job was notably friendly and helpful. They cleaned up the job site each day. Everything was very professional. 3. The on-site people did a really nice job making improvements to the original plan. The adjustments were minor, but they contributed to the quality of the overall result. For example, the on-site manager proposed that we continue the curving line of our old brick walkway in the new plantings on the opposite side. Its a bit hard to describe, but it made the entire front planting flow nicely together, despite the fact that the old walkway predated the new plantings. 3. Basile did very high quality work without any prompting from us. There were many examples of substantial work they did that they could easily have skimped on without me knowing, but here are four: A. They put a small pipe under the new brick walkway before they laid it, and told us where it is. It is hidden/buried, but we know where it is if we want to run a watering or lighting system under the walkway later, without disturbing it. That is a perfect example of things I wouldn't have missed, but they did without asking to yield a high quality result. B. They tilled the areas where we tore up weeds, but then they went back and raked out small twigs and roots that had been tilled up before laying the sod. That was a time-consuming process because the areas were large. They could have skimped on it, but they didn't. C. The preparation of the paver walkway was pretty impressive. They dug deep (much deeper than I would have imagined). They laid rock and thoroughly compacted it. They poured concrete with rebar under the step, then used mortar to build up the step itself. They put little hidden railings on either side of the walkway itself to make sure it stays in place. The result looks great, but I also feel confident it will last. D. Finally, we have a pre-existing brick walkway that curves in to meet the new one. They discovered that walkway dipped down into the old sidewalk and wasn't draining properly (in retrospect, it also looked kind of bad with that dip). They could have left it as it was, and I would have been none the wiser. Instead, they took up, raised, and relaid about 1/3 of the existing brick walkway to make the drainage correct, align it with the new walkway and remove the dip. That, in turn, required raising the level of the yard where the dip used to be. That, in turn, required a significant effort to extend an existing sewer vent cover in the yard. The result looked fantastic, and was clearly done with real craftsmanship and attention to detail. Its surprising, but the difference between the before and after, with the nice joint between the two walkways and the smooth slope without a dip, was the kind of detail that really made the result look great. Overall, I was very satisfied with the end result. I was very pleased with the quality of the work, the no-hassle professionalism, and the overall appearance.

The work done by Basile is excellent, starting with their prompt reply to my email asking for a bid. Jim came out and we walked around the yard to discuss what I had in mind. He had a proposal back to me within about a week (there was a weekend and a holiday during that time). After I signed the contract, I was put on the schedule to have the job done. The first day of the job, Jim came out with Mario and they removed the existing plants. Later that morning, Matt arrived and he and Mario began excavating and building the stone retaining wall/planter bed. Over the course of 2 days, they completed the bed, and prepared a portion of the lawn for to be sodded. Both Matt and Mario worked steadily and were happy to answer my questions and explain what they were doing. On the final 2 days, they were joined by another worker who helped them with the spreading mulch, distributing the new soil for the lawn and tilling it, then laying the sod and doing the planting. When they left each day, tools were put neatly away and materials were stacked out of my way. At the end of the project, everything was neatly finished. The only sign I'd had anyone working was the beautiful planter, new lawn and plants and the mulch neatly placed. Matt even hooked up my sprinkler, ready to go for the next watering!

They have been great. They did a great job. They came, gave a quote, and they did everything that they said they would do as far as build a patio. My husband had questions when we did the patio, and they would explain everything to us. If we didn't understand, they would explain it again. Their price is high,they were probably our highest bid, but they did so much more work, and I trusted them, because there were others who couldn't quite explain how they would make the patio.

The technician called ahead (as requested) and arrived on time. He went through all the zones and adjust the coverage as needed. In one of the zone, some of the heads did not popup, and he was able to find them to pull them up. He said it is probably due to low water pressure. But we had the water pressure turned up (by a licensed plumber) after the sprinklers were put in, and the heads were fine even before. But he didn't try to find the leaks. I also discussed with him about another project, building a small retaining wall. He took the measurements, and said the owner will contact me with the cost estimate. But I never heard from them after that.

I like them a lot they do a great job. At that time I needed someone to come quickly because I was having out of state company and so I called them because I know him and the men came on Saturday which surprised me, a hot Saturday and they did a great job. On time, polite, listen to what I asked that they could do. They did a lot of follow-through. They were careful with the existing plants. They didn’t trample them and they removed what I had asked them to do very professionally and the most important thing with this company is they hauled everything away. I think the price is pretty much the average price for what they did. No one likes to pay the price. I think when you look at all these different types of landscapers they charge a lot. Excellent quality. It is a hard job and yet they came when they said and they did the work and I just appreciated it. I have used them several times.

Our experience with Basile Landscaping and Lawn was positive. The service representative arrived within the four hour window specified and was friendly, informative and efficient. As a new homeowner new to Missouri, I knew little about "starting up" the sprinkler system. The representative patiently showed me how to "start" the water access for the sprinkler system and to operate the control pad/scheduler that we have. Then, he set an auto-schedule for me so that I would not need to tend to these details. Finally, he verified that all zones were operating correctly and that the sprinklers themselves were operating ideally given the areas each waters (flowerbed vs. lawn, etc)

After setting up the appointment over the phone, Mike called me back to inquire about our specific system. It turns out that our old sprinkler system was not installed completely, and will need some work to make it functional. However, they did their job well and were very professional throughout the process.

They are very thorough and did a good job. And for a good price too!

Terrific - Basile also put in our patio - they are professional, friendly and the prices are very fair.

Mike and his crew were excellent. We left the design up to Mike and it turned out beautifully. We had three tiers of crumbling dry stack rock walls and he replaced them with block walls, matching the blocks he used when he replaced our retaining wall a few years earlier. He also created a flat patio with seating walls and planters around a fire pit. Finally, he created a walkway connecting a retaining wall with the back deck. His crew was punctual and worked hard, even replacing the ground cover which had been displaced during the construction. The end result is lovely and much more functional than it was before.

They are really excellent. It has been a very good experience. They have good communication skills and they are very competent. Their work turns out very well and they also give me advice. They have been doing the work for several years.

All the work done by Basile has been smooth and just what we expected.

The Basile team completed well what was asked of them. Trimmed all shrubs, weeded, removed old flowers plants and laid down fresh mulch. Trimmed viburnums, hemlock, four hydrangeas , seven fir bushes, and mulched roses. Watered all plants when work completed. All yard waste and trimmings were pick-up and hauled away. The Basile men arrived in the company uniform, on time, and ready to work.

Eric came out immediately and gave me a thorough explanation of what they would be doing. I found this very informative. He said he would send me an estimate by the end of the week but it took a little longer. Being anxious to get the job started I called again. I did find that sometimes I had some trouble getting a prompt answer ( at one point when I was told workers would arrive on a certain date I called the day before to say that my yard had not yet been marked for utilities so please call me back so I would know if I needed to stay home for the workers. No one called me bad and I waited all day for the workers and no one came) A few days later I received a call telling me they would be there after the utilities were marked. They were and they did a fabulous job!!!!! I don't know where the communication breakdown occurred and after seeing the job they did I don't care. I will use them again for any project in the future.

Seemed very professional and knowledgeable of their trade- provided a very good solution to my problem. I would use them, but inital call to get a bid didn't get returned for almost 2 weeks. Then, once consultation occurred, contract was sent with pricing- they were the most expensive bid I received. I liked their solution, so I contacted Basile to attempt to negoatiate down to a reasonable price based on other company bids, but it took over a week for a response after emailing and calling their offices. In the meantime, I went with another landscaper. It is because of this that I had to give a poor grade for responsiveness. Otherwise, they seem like a good company that I may still choose to use in the future.

I did not use them due to cost, but will contact them again when I get ready to do my retaining wall.

Mr. Basile was polite and professional on the phone. In the future, if I decide to go ahead with my plans to add a new patio, path and steps, I will probably get an estimate from him. As noted above, I never met Mr. Basile and he his company never performed services. I'm completing this evaluation only because you originally asked for comments from people who had dealt with the company in any way, including phone calls.

Very well. Staff of 4-5 was very efficient and courteous. I have recommended them to my neighbors.

It was a good experience. Eric Herter came out promptly. We had a nice talk on ideas to help the front and side yards. Eric was pleasant, courteous and had good ideas. We recieved the bid quickly. He had good follow-up. We went with another company. We liked their design a bit better and they had better pricing. We will definetly consider them in the future.
